Ryuji clutched the little satchel on his way to Akira’s place. It was almost time, they sent the calling card to Shido and Akira could get him back for ruining his life.
Ryuji called to confess… but he chickened out at the last second. Instead he invited himself over so they could relax before the big fight. He also made him a good luck charm to give Akira, not that he needed it but who knew what that shitty politician got up his sleeve.
He was closing in to Leblanc and he brightened up when he saw Akira at the door waiting for him. Akira smiled and waved when he spotted Ryuji.
“Hey man! Ready for tomorrow?” Ryuji asked as he pulled Akira into a one armed hug. Ryuji grinned when he felt lean appreciatively into the hug.
But Akira was quiet, Ryuji couldn’t blame him. There was a lot weighing on him but that was what he was here for.
Ryuji shook him gently, “don’t worry man, you got my, er, everyone’s support. We’re here for you. Now let’s watch movies and chill!” He felt his chest fill with warmth when Akira smiled softly at him.
They got comfortable on the bed first sitting side by side while watching the movie. Then they laid down on the bed, easily cuddling each other as the night went on.
“Oh!” Ryuji yelped as he remembered his charm. He reached into his pocket and held out this charm to Akira who tilted his head cutely in confusion.
“It’s uh, a good luck charm. M-made it for you.” Ryuji blushed, then he turned away, the movie suddenly looking very interesting.
He could feel Akira staring at him. Akira took the charm with a soft, “thank you.”
Ryuji chanced a look at his best friend and saw Akira staring at the charm with the warmest expression.
Akira turned to him, then the TV and pointed, “Oh, look Ryuji!” Ryuji immediately turned to look, was there something exciting happening in the movie–?
!!
Ryuji felt a tender kiss on his cheek and faced Akira while blushing madly. Akira was equally red but seemed a little smug.
“W-what was that?”
“A good luck kiss. I didn’t have anything to give you as thanks, hope that’s enough.”
“Ya kiddin’? I feel like I can take on the world now! Haha!” Ryuji laughed and Akira couldn’t help but join in.
They felt lighter than before and slowly fell asleep as the movie went on.
The ship shook with every explosion. They made it outside but how could they escape?
Ryuji noticed the lifeboat and the lever that would release it.
“Don’t worry, I got this.” Ryuji said, jumping over the ledge and getting a running start.
He could do this, Ryuji thought to himself as he pushed through the pain in his leg. He could do this, he thought as he closed in on the lever, he got a good luck kiss from Akira, he could do anything.
