You are more human than you remembered.
The glint of light in your lens
in this sprawling desert heat.
Molten gold like the circuits
that will have sent your last neural impulses.
You are machinery, you are memory.
How did that myth of wax wings go again?
You fall like ashes from the cinders
burning in the light of the sun.
You seized the day then,
and the day seizes you now.
You remember a song so sweet,
and you remember an instrument.
Velocity increases as the end beckons,
and the glint becomes a blinding flare,
the yellow skies become a flash of white.
You will not survive this.
You do not know what to make of this.
And how much more human is that?
You feel the impact.
