Chapter Text
Draco had suspected that the famous Harry Potter was his soulmate ever since he knew what the mysterious tattoo on his arm meant.
His family had too. That's why they celebrated as soon as Harry Potter had become The Boy Who Lived (secretly of course, otherwise some people might question where their loyalties lay).
Of course, Potter had no idea. He just knew that his soulmate's name started with a D and why would he ever think that his enemy would be his soulmate?
Why does Draco? After all it could be a different Harry or maybe Larry or Carry or... nothing else ends with 'arry'.
Draco looked down at his annoying tattoo. Annoying but beautiful. The word 'Drarry' was elegantly scrawled across his calf.
How would Potter be his soulmate? It didn't make sense!
Except, it did.
First, the names fit. Since birth, everyone has had a tattoo somewhere, displaying their 'ship name'. Most of the time it was a combination of their names, but sometimes it's something that relates to them. For example, his mother's was 'Nobleflower'. (Yes, I'm sorry but I just had to bring a little bit of the Marauders fandom over. For those that don't know, Nobleflower is the ship between Narcissa and Alice - Neville's mom. This doesn't effect the storyline. I dare you, if you're a big Slytherin Boys fan to read some Slytherin Skittles fics - the Slytherin Skittles is the original Slytherin boys with Regulus Black, Barty Crouch Jr and Evan Rosier.) As far as she knew, Narcissa had never met her soulmate, just getting married off to Lucius before she got the chance to look.
Secondly, Draco had always been attracted to Potter. He had just never noticed it until third year, the year he had come to terms with the fact that Potter was his soulmate. It was another sign that you had met your soulmate when you started to get attracted to them. Not always, sometimes you can just like a person but most of the time it's true.
The bad thing was that eventually Potter was going to find out and he was going to freak.
Draco thought himself attractive but next to Potter-
No.
Draco had forbid himself for going down those silly tangents.
But... how was Potter going to react to this?

Eighth year. Great.
Draco's father was in Azkaban - good riddance - and his mother was on house arrest.
He, somehow, had gotten away with no consequences - except the stares of hatred and, even worse, caution.
His mother had forced him to go to Hogwarts for his eighth year and he did understand it, since he was going to need all the education he could get, but that didn't mean he liked it.
The worst part was that he was going to have to see Potter again.
The Daily Prophet had made sure that everyone knew that the famous Harry Potter was going back to Hogwarts. Unfortunately for Draco, that meant Potter had one more year to figure out his little secret and everything would fall apart.
Saying as much to his mother didn't do anything. In fact, she was even more insistent.
Draco sighed. Surely one more year couldn't hurt. Draco had survived seven whole years of keeping his secret from Potter, what was one more?
Draco was right; eighth year didn't hurt him, in fact it healed him.
