- Saiyans can purr similar to how cats can. It's just a thing they can do. Saiyans purr as a sign that they're safe and comfortable or to reassure themselves, their mate, and/or their cubs.
- A saiyan's finger/toenails are particularly tough and durable compared to other species, allowing them to be used like claws for various purposes. They naturally grow in a sharper upward point compared to earthlings and are usually black in color.
- Instead of raw strength, a saiyan's class is determined by the natural fur near the base of their tails. Low-Class Saiyans have average and lower potential, have a downward spike of fur, and have decently average power levels at birth. High-Class Saiyans have above-average battle potential and an upward spike of fur, but are usually born weaker than average (sometimes weaker than Low-Class saiyans, like Kakarot). Saiyans with royal blood always have fantastic battle potential, an upward spike and a downward spike of fur, and are usually born stronger than average. Mutants like Broly are considered High-Class on par with Royalty, but have a 50/50 chance between High and Low-Class tails. Broly has a Low-Class tail. Zenkai Boosts are the same regardless of class. Cubs of Low-Class/High-Class couples have a 50/50 chance to be either.
- Everyone usually mistakes Goku for another Low-Class saiyan due to his notorious Low-Class bloodline, but he's actually a High-Class saiyan since Gine is from a High-Class bloodline despite being Low-Class herself. Gohan and Goten are actually Royalty thanks to Chi-Chi's royal blood, but are often mistaken for High-Class saiyans due to how their hybrid tails formed.
- Hybrid Saiyans have higher than average potential by default, regardless of saiyan class. Gohan in particular is an extreme case of this, being a borderline mutant with how high his hybrid potential is.
- Due to the 6:1 ratio of Male:Female Saiyans in the GSU, they evolved to allow some men the ability to breed with anyone (aka Breeders). True to the name, Breeders have both reproductive systems and are incredibly fertile. Raditz, Vegeta (and by extension, Vegito and Gogeta), Trunks, and Goten are Breeders.
- Male saiyans commonly have larger-than-average dicks and testicles compared to earthlings, often large enough to cause very noticeable tents in their clothes if aroused. They also have knots for breeding purposes. Goku's on the larger side, even for Saiyans. Yes, Goku *has* gotten his dick trapped inside Chi-Chi on a couple of occasions because of it. One of which being when they conceived Gohan.
- Saiyans get horny for combat. Literally. Some saiyans are aroused just by the idea of fighting someone strong in an all-out battle. It's very common for saiyans to get hard/wet during combat. Many of them turn into masochists because of it. Outside specific circumstances, saiyans will almost always need to relieve themselves in some way after a good fight. Many saiyans go to their mate for this need, often leading to them breeding. If a saiyan doesn't have a mate, they'll masturbate somewhere private nearby. In the case of simple sparring matches, it's common for the saiyan to attempt to pin down their opponent against something when The Urges™ start building up.
- Female Saiyans experience heats while males experience ruts. Some Breeders experience both, but most of them only experience heats. Both last a week total if no breeding occurs. Both end the next day if breeding occurs (regardless if it produces offspring or not). If a Breeder experiences both, they will never happen at the same time or very close to each other (often waiting at least a week from one ending to start the other). Goten and Vegito experience both.
- While it is possible for Saiyans to reproduce outside of their heats/ruts, they are much more fertile during them (outright guaranteeing offspring if a heat and rut happen at the same time and the affected saiyans successfully breed). Heats/ruts are paused entirely during pregnancy for the carrier or if the affected saiyan is under intense stress/danger. Heats/Ruts occur once a month and start occurring regularly after a saiyan's growth spurt during puberty.
- Saiyans experiencing heats often build nests preemptively via their instincts as a sign that they're about to go into heat. Nests double as safe spaces for the one in heat. Stepping into one without the nester's permission is very offensive and is considered an invasion of privacy (and they have every right to scratch your face off for it). Saiyans can also build nests of their own free will to signal to their mates that they want to breed or give them a safe space to escape to. Nests are typically made out of soft bedding material, but can include things like comfort items and their mate's clothing. They typically look like massive circular cat beds, but can vary in size, shape, and material depending on the nest-maker's preferences.
- Ruts make saiyans very clingy and affectionate while heats make them very needy and submissive. Neither are particularly painful under normal circumstances, they mainly only make a saiyan's reproductive organs very sensitive on top of the slight personality change and constant arousal. Heats are particularly messy because the constant state of arousal results in a very wet saiyan that'll soak whatever touches their lower half if left unattended (and will need a consistent source of water to drink from to avoid severe dehydration). Saiyans are more open to receiving help to end it early since the passive, submissive natures that come with heats/ruts can be seen as a negative associated with weakness (and saiyans hate being seen as weak). If seen positively, rutting saiyans will postpone breeding in favor of sexless cuddling. Oral sex to climax from a designated partner is often enough to end the cycles early.
- Saiyans that know their cycles will often lock themselves in a safe space to ride it out by themselves to avoid unintended consequences unless their intent is to breed. Rutting saiyans will often end up cuddling body-sized pillows and heated saiyans will stimulate themselves in an attempt to drown out the sudden neediness. A heated saiyan's body will automatically dilate their vagina in an invitation to breed if a potential breeding partner is nearby.
- Heats/ruts cause natural swelling in the tail and produce an intense, distinct scent that even earthlings will be able to smell easily. Saiyans spread this scent by waving their tails in the air. If a saiyan's tail doesn't swell or the heat/rut causes actual pain, something is seriously wrong and will only get worse if left untreated (and the scent will change to reflect this). A saiyan's tail will start swelling and producing a light variation of the scent a few days before a heat/rut actually occurs as a preemptive signal to the saiyan and the people around them.
- Saiyans intending to breed while in a heat/rut will position themselves so that the one in heat is on all fours face-down tail-up so the one in a rut can mount and breed them easily. The one in heat will often call out to their intended partner as well by using various chirps and speaking their name as well as spreading their scent as much as possible.
- Successfully knotted saiyans won't be able to escape the large strings of cum that follow soon after, making it easier for them to create offspring; hence why they evolved to have knots in the first place. Mated saiyans will often bite down hard on their partner's mating bite area right before/when knotting them and won't release it until they've stopped cumming. The first ejaculation from a successful knotting during a breeding session will often last a few minutes straight, with ruts extending it up to 5 minutes, each stream thick, long, and capable of completely filling an earthling to the brim from just that one release alone. Saiyans are usually filled up after 2-3 of these large releases.
- Knots are smooth and circular in shape, appear near the base of the shaft (often an inch or two above the testicles) centered on the dick, and expand to nearly double their size in an instant when an ejaculation occurs. They are only visible when aroused (being more obvious the closer a saiyan is to climaxing) and are usually half an inch thick in diameter. Knots die down enough to allow the dominator to slide out after about an hour, but extra stimulation to a saiyan's overly sensitive cock during this time will result in extra, much smaller releases and extend the knot's capture time by 5 minutes per release.
- It's impossible to pull a dilated knot out prematurely without causing massive pain and potentially even bleeding in the knotted partner, so the knotting saiyan will instinctively wrap around their partner and spoon/cuddle with them comfortably until they either fall asleep like that or wait out the knot long enough to separate. The knot itself is incredibly effective at keeping a saiyan's semen trapped inside their partner, with leaks only occurring when the knot has died down enough to allow it to begin escaping. This allows the semen to marinate and clot together inside their partner, fertilizing anything it touches before being absorbed or pushed out all in one go, leaving very little of an actual mess if disposed of properly. The clot itself is incredibly durable and flexible, with breaking off pieces being incredibly hard, if not impossible, and being stainless whilst it's properly warm and moist.
- Saiyan semen keeps longer in warm, damp environments, which is why they typically lived in humid caves and the like on their home planet. If necessary, a saiyan's semen is capable of keeping an earthling's hunger at bay for several days and is surprisingly nutritious, which is useful if a saiyan or their partner can't get enough food regularly. Try not to take a saiyan's knot orally if you can help it, it will break your jaw and most likely choke you to death.
- Because of how saiyan seed behaves, breeding and birth role-plays during sex are very common between saiyans and their partners. Some saiyans are turned on by watching their partner push out the semen clot, leading to extended sessions. Some people on the receiving end of a saiyan's cum will discourage their saiyan partner from pulling out because they like the full feeling from the clot and don't want to push it out or let it escape quite yet.
- Pregnant saiyans don't experience nearly as many symptoms as earthlings, mainly only having an increased appetite and a more passive nature (both of which can appear up to a week after conception and last throughout the pregnancy) since their bodies are more than capable enough to handle the physical strain of such a thing. They're also much fiercer in actual combat, instinctively protecting their lower abdomen area when defending as much as physically possible while trying to prevent telling their opponent through actions that something is off. Nausea in saiyans caused by pregnancy is a sign that something is wrong and they will often miscarry if it occurs and the source of it isn't taken care of (the source of said nausea will often be from an unhealthy body or intense mental stress).
- (TW: Explicit childbirth descriptions ahead) Pregnant saiyans instinctively confine themselves to a nest (be it one they built themselves or one that their mate made for this purpose) during the later stages and rarely leave it for anything during the last month before giving birth. If a saiyan's pregnant mate doesn't already have a designated nest for giving birth, they'll instinctively build one for them. Pregnant saiyans often don't start showing until a couple months before giving birth (which is roughly when they confine themselves to their nest anyway). Saiyan pregnancy usually lasts about 7 months, but can adjust to another species's gestation time for healthy hybrids. Saiyans typically have 1-3 cubs per pregnancy (usually just one), but it is possible for them to have upwards of 6 or more in one go. How much they show before giving birth depends on how many cubs they'll have. 1 cub usually shows about as much as a 3-month pregnant earthling, bordering on 4 right before giving birth; 2 shows as much as 5 bordering on 6, and 3 or more shows as much as 8-9, potentially growing even larger with larger litters. Higher numbers often need more support from the carrier's mate throughout the process.
- Right before, during, and for a couple months after the birthing process, saiyans are very protective of their mates and their nests and will often kill anyone coming within range of them that they see as a threat to the safety of their cubs. Saiyans often give birth in the nest they choose to confine themselves to, but unstable circumstances can cause a saiyan to give birth in an unintended location if they think it'll be safer for the cubs that way. Or they run out of time trying to find a safe place. Whichever happens first. Saiyans can temporarily stall contractions in order to fight off threats or escape to safety, but usually their mates do all the fighting while they're vulnerable.
- During the birthing process (shortly after their water breaks), their bodies will instinctively slick up their birth canals similar to how they do during heats to aid in the birth itself (and often causes the one in labor to constantly drip fluids until it's over, leaving them very dehydrated afterwards). Saiyan births are often very quick because of it, with most of the wait time being taken up by trying to open their womb's entrance remotely as fast as possible (remember: warrior race. the faster they can fight again, the better). While waiting for their vagina's inner entrance to open, saiyans will instinctively force themselves into an upright squat over their nest when they feel close to a fully open internal entrance to allow gravity to aid them as well (unless they're in immediate danger, in which case, they'll use this time to find someplace safe to squat), while their vagina's external opening will dilate to prepare for the cub's arrival. Pacing and sexual activity will accelerate the process.
- Upon reaching a satisfactory state, the laboring body will drop the cub head-first through the opening at full force with no warning, often being very painful and causes the laboring saiyan to instinctively squat and push immediately to make use of the force while folding in on themselves (since the cub would often be entirely inside their vagina after being ejected that way, with most cases leaving the tail halfway through the opening prior to pushing), usually leading to the cub crowning only minutes later. In the case of multiple cubs, the next one is dropped after the bearer has been given a couple minutes to recover from the previous one's successful birth. The bearer usually catches the cubs after crowning, but their mate will do it instead in particularly peaceful circumstances. Due to how fast this process is, cubs are very rarely stillborn and the bearer is only in danger of losing their life if either too many complications arise or they're on an active battlefield (and even then, the cubs are more likely to die from those complications). Healthy saiyan pregnancies often do as described with nothing of detrimental value happening.
- Shortly after birth, saiyan parents will have an overwhelming urge to give their newborn cubs a tongue bath to clean off the fluids and leave their scent to ward off nearby predators. Some saiyans have an urge so strong that they'll start bathing their cubs while the carrier is actively giving birth to them! Saiyans with these stronger urges will often have the carrier sit on their hands so they can catch and clean the cub at the same time as they're born. The strongest version of this urge to bathe their cubs will result in a saiyan trying to reach the cub inside the carrier with their tongue as soon as they become visible on the outside, some even going so far as to have the carrier sit on their face (or at the very least, right above it) for maximum cleaning time, usually leading to the carrier having to either: give birth on top of their mate instead of on their nest or kick their mate out of the room until the cub is born. Most choose to at least kick their mate out of the nest for a while.
- Rapid-fire pregnancies tend to tire a saiyan out considerably since they would constantly be under hormone strain and will likely lash out in frustration from not being able to fight or train for longer than intended. Carriers of saiyan hybrids will often have an easier time giving birth the saiyan way (and their bodies will adjust as necessary to accommodate for it). Breeders in particular have a higher chance at producing more Breeders. Some attempts at successfully crossbreeding with non-mammalian species by any means necessary resulted in the carrier pushing the semen clot out alongside their eggs or bathing in a tub of saiyan semen in a place similar to a sauna to mixed results.
- In the case of particularly large litters (being around 8+), the carrier's body will space the labor out across several days, giving birth to 3-6 cubs per day until all of them have been born. (End of TW)
- Breeders often have twins because of their naturally high fertility, with a small chance at having more than three in a best-case heat/rut breeding session. They tend to be more aggressive when protecting them because of it.
- Cubs stay in the nest with their carrier until they're old enough to fight and typically aren't allowed to leave the nest without a supervisor until they can reliably walk around properly.
- Saiyans are capable of lactating to provide for their newborn cubs, regardless of if they actually carried them or not. This allows their mate to get the rest they need (whenever applicable) while meeting the needs of their cubs. Saiyan milk is incredibly nutritious and filling for cubs, allowing the parents more time to rest between feeding sessions.
- Due to saiyan bodies staying in their prime for a very long time, they can healthily breed from adulthood to the last year before their rapid aging begins, with their bodies outright preventing pregnancy during that final prime year. Saiyans stop experiencing heats/ruts entirely around this time because of it.
- Saiyans claim their mates with bites near their neck. The bite itself protects the saiyans from unwanted pregnancies and signals to other saiyans that they're taken. They also allow a telepathy link to be established between mates, if they choose to create one. Saiyans mate for life. Having multiple mates was very common in saiyan culture, often leading to the creation of packs. While it is possible for non-saiyan mates to achieve something similar for saiyans, the non-saiyan will not receive any benefits of the saiyan's bite that conflict with their species's natural functions. GSU Goku and Vegeta became mates shortly before the Future Saga/Goku Black Arc happened. [I'm currently debating whether or not something more happened before they got stuck as Vegito.]
- Saiyans have improved senses over Earthlings in general, but their sense of smell in particular is incredible. As such, they've evolved to release very subtle scents from their bodies (mainly their tails) to show their moods and desires. Due to the subtlety of the scents themselves, saiyans can smell them just fine while earthlings have to either really focus or be really close to a saiyan physically in order to smell it (think "buried in their chest" close). Saiyans without tails can still produce the scents, it's just much harder for other saiyans to pick up on them (and downright impossible for earthlings to smell). Saiyans tend to be really picky about general scents due to their sensitive sense of smell and most will find a way to create a constant flow of clean air in their most used locations.
- Saiyan hybrids always lean towards their saiyan blood in terms of species abilities (no matter how diluted the saiyan blood actually is) due to them being a warrior race with many benefits. As a result, they often have most, if not all, of a saiyan's natural abilities/instincts (faster healing, zenkai boosts, transformations, a talent for fighting/controlling ki, an urge to fight or flaunt their power, etc.) on top of the species abilities they get from their other parent. While tails at birth are rare for hybrids from races without them, it's possible for saiyan/tailless species hybrids to grow saiyan tails later in life (usually starting in their teen years after their saiyan growth spurt).
- Saiyans can instantly regrow their tails at will at any time from their teen years onwards. Because of this, saiyan tails are only permanently amputated if the saiyan chooses to not regrow it. If they didn't have a tail at birth, their first one shows up from them experiencing their first heat/rut. Saiyan tails can be regrown on accident from intense stress and/or being exposed to a natural full moon (they don't have to be looking at it, the light just has to connect with their bodies long enough). In the case of both stress and the moon, the saiyan will often look at the moon without meaning to and transform into an Oozaru.
- As a warrior race, fighting and training is very good exercise for saiyans, giving them plenty of energy and stamina to outlast opponents and is often the cause of their trademark appetite (on top of the other benefits of exercise in general).
- Saiyan hybrids are known to have incredible fighting potential and some saiyans go out of their way to breed with a compatible species whose abilities could benefit their saiyan blood to create very strong offspring.
- SSG and SSJ4 use the same shade of pinkish-red/red for the form's coloration. Coloration of all transformations varies between saiyans.
