It was bad enough, the embarrassment and dysphoria that came along with his period, of course he had to be woken up by the pain as well.
Herbert curled in on himself, whimpering in agony. Lancelot, who'd been lying with his arm around the other man, woke slightly at the stirring, which simply added to Herbert's mentality of Please, God, just kill me at this point.
"Are you alright, Prince?" Lancelot asked, his voice a bit groggy from sleep. Herbert could only whimper in response, quickly sobering the knight, who sat up in concern. "Herbert?"
"Sorry" the prince replied shakily. "Just... Hurts"
Lancelot nodded sympathetically. He didn't quite understand what the big deal was when it came to these 'cramps', but that hardly mattered. All that mattered was that his husband was in pain, and he had to do something about it.
He searched his brain to try to remember what helped when he suddenly remembered that heat was the main thing that could soothe the man's cramping abdomen.
He kissed the sweaty, pained man on the cheek before getting up and going to their already-lit fireplace, boiling some water as quickly as he could, and pouring it into his metal bottle (all knights had been issued one so as to not suffer dehydration in battle). He then wrapped a thick cloth around the bottle so as to not burn the man, then returned to the bed, and set the bottle against Herbert's abdomen.
Herbert visibly relaxed as the heat began to unwind Herbert's abdominal muscles and relax his cramping uterus a little bit.
"Thank you" the prince breathed in relief. Lancelot kissed him on the cheek and reassumed his previous position, using his hand to keep the bottle secure against Herbert's lower stomach.
"Go back to sleep"
