A silence fulfilled the room, not even their own breaths could be heard, Peter was kneeled down in front of Steph, he was staying as still as he ever had, not fearing what’s about to come, meanwhile Steph is trembling, scared for the first time in her life, not wanting to accept their fate.
Her arms is out pointing to Peter’s head with the gun Grace stole so easily from the police. Grace, she wonders where she is, but at this point she was wondering plenty of things.
How did it end up like this? At what point of this story did it go downhill? Why didn’t we do something sooner?
She felt all these thoughts coming into her head, one by one slowing filling her brain, feeling like she could almost see herself in third person, as if she was reading a book, a book that ended with nothing but a tragedy.
Suddenly she came back, returning to her body and snapping out of her trance.
-NO! - She yelled out, but weirdly Peter didn’t even flinch at her yell.
-Steph... - He said softly closing his eyes and looking down. - You have to...
-No! - She repeated again. - I- I can’t! I can’t do it... - She said in between tears closing her eyes in defeat.
-It’s either you or me, Steph. Its what they want! - He replied still kneeling down.
-So let it be me Peter!! Let it be me! - She yelled now both of them sobbing trying to accept what they have to do.
Peter stayed quiet for what felt like decades until he let out a quiet sigh - But I love you - He finally admitted through tears.
-And I love you, you dummy!! I can’t hurt you! - She looks at his shiny eyes now that he had stand up to look at her.
They look at each other’s faces in silence feeling their presence and their presence only, Peter approaches Stephs’ hands and slightly holds it with intense care and love, her tears are still falling down her cheecks while he’s taking them in.
I can’t hurt you... - He said almost in a whisper, his eyes shining with the untaken tears filling his eyes.
-I’ve lost everything, Peter...my dad is gone... Ruth and Richie are gone... and Grace is... - Then she finally came to realization - Where’s Grace?
A yell can be heard outside, a man yell, Max’s loud, irritable scream, and they both flinch looking at each other, thinking of what’s going to happen if they stay there, soon enough they start running not caring about what’s behind him, not caring about where they’re running to, not caring about what’s going to happen to them.
They ran and they ran until they saw no more...
A few yars pass by, Peter and Steph haven’t been seen in Hatchetfield since that day, that mysterious day... many people think they died, others say they got killed...but only them know what truly happened.

The TV keeps saying the names of the people they lost one by one, they felt the names go on for forever, Steph and Peter stare at the TV feeling nothing but guilt for all those innocent people...
-You think we did wrong? - Steph asks not knowing what else to say
-I say we had no clue and no way out... - Peter replied giving Steph a little rub on her thigh as support.
They stay there, sat down at the couch looking intensely at the TV and for the first time...praying.
