Work Text:
Hal wakes up feeling tired and dazed.
Things haven't been going as well lately as he usually brags to his friends.
Things at work have been steady, Barry has also been busy at his job, but no more than normal.
However, his family was now the one in danger.
Barry was anxious and scared half the time, blaming himself for Wally's panic attack and the boy's withdrawn behavior.
Hal tried to do everything to let him know that this wasn't his fault, as they had always tried hard to give him his space, but still be there for him.
However, no matter how hard he tried to calm down and keep a cool head, he couldn't and some uncertain ideas had begun to run through his head.
Maybe something was going on inside Wally's school, with one of his classmates.
He expected to be wrong, but he had a hunch that this time he was right.
There was something about that son's compartment that reminded him of the time when his brother Jim was seriously bullied by most of his class. And it also reminded him of the first few times Hal interacted with Barry.
Wally had the nervous, scared look on Barry and Jim's look.
Hal could never mistake that simple gesture.
Try to stay calm and take a deep breath when he hears Bart crying intensely.
It seems a little strange to him, since usually the little one cries at two in the morning to ask for food, not at eleven thirty at night.
However, he does not complain and trying to make as little noise as possible he stands up.
He watches his husband sleep so peacefully and smiles.
He'd do anything to see Barry calmer, and he certainly was.
He awkwardly leaves his room and walks to Bart's room.
"Hello darling.”
Hal is shocked when Bart ignores him and continues to cry in desperation, calling out to Wally between screams.
"Did you have a bad dream?" he asks shyly, approaching to grab him, however he notices something unusual. Wally's stuffed animal, Flash; was inside Bart's crib.
"Did Wally come to see you?"
"Ally," the boy says between sobs.
"I think Wally must have gone back to sleep by now, Bart."
“¡No Ally!"
"Well, let's see if he's in his room, is that okay?" he asks before taking him in his arms, at first the baby kicks and cries harder, but once he realizes that they are going to his brother's room, he screams more eagerly.
Hal sighs exhaustedly, but opens the door to Wally's room.
His heart stops when he sees that the child is not in her room, he quickly tries to calm down.
And he walks to Wally's private bathroom looking to find him, but again it's empty.
His heart beats non-stop and he feels as if blood is coming down from his body.
Bart's screams and cries increase and Hal begins to believe that Bart saw his brother leave his room and that's why he got so upset.
With Bart in his arms, he quickly goes downstairs and searches the kitchen, patio, living room, and garage.
There is no trace of Wally.
He curses and tries to calm down as she climbs the stairs and heads to the room she shares with her husband.
"Barry," he calls out to the Omega, shaking him gently.
Barry gasps and slowly opens his eyes.
"What's wrong, Hal?"
"Barry, Wally isn't here," that simple sentence seems to be enough for the blond Omega to finish waking up and hurry to his feet.
"What do you mean that he is not there?"
"It's not in his room or anywhere else in the house.”
Hal holds his breath as he sees Barry's face turn pale and run around the house, soaking every hiding place and turning on every light in its path.
Hal also follows him as he tries to calm his other son who is in his arms.
Then he hears his husband screaming from the garage and doesn't hesitate to run away.
Barry turns to him and points to the door to manually exit and enter.
Hal looks at him curiously and approaches.
"It's open," he declares.
"That's impossible, I swear I closed it before we went to sleep and..."
"They forced it," Barry says. /But it's not the force of a thief, it's of a novice... He had never dealt with a lock like this and had to improvise, plus it's forced from the inside not from the outside.”
"Do you think it was...?" Barry lowers his gaze and Hal can hear him hold back a sob as he shakes his head.
"It's the only thing to explain his disappearance and..."
"I'm going to get him," he declares alpha without hesitation and Barry affirms.
"I'm going with you."
"No," Hal says, squirming at his husband. “Someone has to stay with Bart, we can't take him out at this time and put him under more stress…”
"He's my puppy too," Barry pleads, clinging to his husband's arm with teary eyes. “I'm not going to forgive myself if something happens to him and I'm not there to defend him.”
"Nothing's going to happen to him," Hal says determinedly. “I swear.”
"Hal, please.”
"We also have to look after Bart," he murmurs, seeing the puppy who continues to cry silently. “Please, Barry, stay with him and let me go find Wally now... We have no time to lose.”
Hal's heart shrinks when he sees her husband crying silently, but affirming by taking Bart by her arms to stick him to her chest trying to calm down.
"Be very careful, Hal.”
"I promise I'm going to bring our puppy, whatever it takes."
Barry affirms and his heart breaks when he sees his husband leave.
***
Wally was beginning to doubt that it would have been a good idea to leave so late.
It was too cold and his pajamas didn't protect him at all, plus it was too dark and it wasn't like Wally was afraid of the dark.
Wally was an Alpha, the Alphas weren't afraid of anything. Rudy had always told him.
He was an Alpha, not an Omega.
He was not a coward and certainly Wally knew that to be true, however, the street was too lonely and silent and he did not like that.
There wasn't much light either, and there were some weird shadows around him that didn't inspire confidence.
However, Wally has to continue.
The Jordans live a long way from where their parents lived, so he really has to work hard if he wants to get home on time to get in.
He walks around taking a deep breath and trying to repeat to himself that he is an Alpha and Alphas are strong and brave. They're not scared, that's why Wally isn't afraid.
Then the sound of a car reaches him, he tries to calm down when he hears it going closer to him, but then the lights illuminate him from behind and the car stops.
Wally's heart beats as if he were running a marathon and when Wally hears someone get out of the car he doesn't hesitate to start running in desperation.
Were they going to assault him?
Wally couldn't let that happen, he had very little with him and he couldn't lose them.
Then Wally runs as fast as he can, but he hears a person running after him just as fast as he does.
He shouts his name and his blood bristles.
Was it one of his parents' friends?
Were they going to punish him for telling the police everything?
He tries to keep running until he reaches a street with a huge wall that prevents him from moving forward, his heart stops and his legs begin to tremble.
Close his eyes and wait for what has to happen.
"Wally, it's me Hal.”
The red-haired man opens his eyes in confusion and sighs in relief when he sees his guardian in front of him.
Unable to help himself, he hugs him, feeling strangely calm.
Hal hugs him tightly and Wally sighs feeling slightly suffocated.
When Hal backs away, Wally gasps in shock.
The older alpha's face is bathed in tears and he caresses his face with great concern.
"Are you okay?" he asks softly, trying not to stun him.
“Yes”
"I'm so glad you're okay," he whispers, hugging him tightly. “I was so worried about you, pup... Don't ever scare me like that again, please.”
Wally denies and lets Hal hug him again before carrying him in his arms and kissing his forehead.
They walk for several minutes in silence until Wally sees Hal's car.
The alpha leaves him in the passenger seat before closing and getting into the driver's seat and driving into the house in total silence.
Wally shrinks back in his seat and predicts what's going to happen when he arrive at the Jordans' house.
Barry probably yells at him and Hal hits him for acting so stupidly.
When they are in front of the pretty house, Wally reluctantly enters and shyly follows Hal to reach the living room, where Barry holds his sleeping brother in his arms.
When Barry sees them coming, his eyes widen and he jumps to his feet, staggers towards them and looks at his husband in a way that Wally can't describe other than brilliant.
Hal kisses Barry's forehead and takes little Bart in his arms while letting Barry approach Wally.
Wally lowers his head nervously, but then Barry's warm hands lovingly grab his cheeks and cradle them.
"Are you okay, puppy?"
"Yes..."
“I'm so glad you're okay," he whispers, hugging him tightly. “I was so worried about you, puppy... Never scare me like this again, please, sweet.”
Wally nods his head not knowing what else to do.
He doesn't understand why the Jordan couple haven't yelled at him for leaving like that. Why are they so happy to have him back if they don't want him?
Wouldn't it be easier to have let him go and just stay with Bart?
Wally thinks he is, but apparently Barry and Hal disagree with him and that's... Strange.
