Work Text:
The school halls were calm, students and teachers alike walking around, as two students were walking towards their lockers, getting ready for next period. Akito was carrying his bag alongside An, as she monitored the halls while making casual conversation with his teammate, the taller one discussing important life topics as he opened his locker.
"I don't care, maple syrup is much better than honey, it makes pancakes much sweeter-" Akito's words got cut off as a loud sound was heard, making their ears ring for a few seconds as both students processed what had just happened.
In front of where the locker was supposed to be was instead a pile of white smoke, it having a subtle scent of sugar and vanilla. The sudden smoke and odor left both of the students, in simple words, flabbergasted.
"What the fuck was that!?" Yelled the hall monitor, looking around as she made sure there were no teachers around to scold her for such cruel language. Once she saw the coast was clear, she moved closer to Akito, putting her hands on his shoulders and shaking him back and forth. "Why did you have a bomb in your locker!?"
"Why would you think I'd have a bomb anywhere near my stuff!?" Cried the ginger, having a known reputation of always being calm and controlled under any strange circumstances.
Akito quickly shaked off An's hands from his shoulders, having enough of not only being accused for nonsense, but being dizzy as well. Once the two were calm enough to not question each other, they both stared at the locker, dumbfounded as to why there was sweet scented smoke coming off of it.
"Smells like vanilla." The girl commented, with the boy narrowing his eyes in a "No shit." type of way. An ignored his glaring, waving her hand around the smoke to try and ease it off, now taking a look at the inners of the locker.
Inside she found a small bento box, with a characteristical yellow colour and dark brown lines, it having a small caricature of a yellow dog with a brown beret. The top of the bento box also had a small piece of folded paper sticken in with a thin and small piece of transparent tape, having the simple word "Akito." written in quite elegant cursive, clearly an expensive fountain pen had been used.
There was a lot of clear effort putten into the tiny locker, but there was a very small issue An seemed to have.
Who in their right mind would put so much effort for someone like Akito!?
Speaking of the devil, he had finally stopped coughing away all of the scented smoke, suddenly snatching the box that An was holding with such glaring curiosity, the girl taking five seconds to process what just happened.
"Give me that." Akito spoke, now moving the bento box around to inspect whatever An just got out of his locker, the girl now looking like she didn't knew if whether to be concerned or dying of laugher, a small tear forming below her wide open eyes as she forced herself not to smile. "What are you laughing at?"
"I..." The girl took a break in her speech to breathing in and drown her laughter. "I didn't know you... you had a lover!" She barely said before covering her mouth with her hand, laughing as quietly as she could. "That note is so corny!"
"Huh." Akito froze for a second, suddenly bringing the bento box right in front of his face, analyzing the small note with his name written in as if his life depended of it. "I-I don't have a lover!"
"Speak for yourself!" An snatched the bent paper sheet off of the bento box, careful to remove the piece of tape holding its most probably corny interior a secret, Akito starting to have the skin below his eyes change to a more light red colour, feeling a lot more warmer. "H-Hey! Don't just take it!"
The girl didn't listen, opening the note and clearing her throat in a snarky type of way, glaring at the boy from the corner of her eye.
"To my beloved dear:
Today, I have decided to listen to my heart, as I can not keep myself quiet anymore. I have found comfort in your company, and I wish for nothing but for your self as a person. Words are not enough to express all of my love for you, for that, I've decided to no longer gaze from afar, but to make myself known! Hoping to be not only your friend, but your lover. Please, accept my cooking that is placed below this note, and my apologies for being such a coward to not even being able to face you up front. You have won my heart. I hope I get to win yours."
Soon, there was only sound in front of the locker, as the hall monitor laughed loud enough for it to be heard across the floor, while the ginger only had his face turn more red. His eyes scanned over the words written on the letter, re-reading over and over to make sure what he read wasn't a hallucination of any sort.
Akito, now with his cheeks completely red, simply went fast walking back towards his classroom, An following as fast as she could. "Wait! W-Where are you going lover boy?" Alongside her screams, followed her laughter.
"Shut up! I don't even know this person!" He yelled back, wondering why a hall monitor was making such a buzz during class time, as he quickly opened the door to his classroom, taking big steps and sitting back on his desk, smashing his face down on his desk as he tried to cool off his blush.
The only other classmate in the classroom turned her head to look at him from the distance. "What's with him..." Nene pondered, before An walked into the classroom, holding the note up in the air, the green haired girl just opening her eyes in understanding. "He actually did it..."
An inmediatly went to ruffle Akito's hair as a tease, the boy grunting and mumbling something about wanting to be left alone, as Nene simply stood up from her seat, slowly making her way towards the two, ready to continue the plan.
"Um, Shiraishi..." Nene poked An's shoulder, getting her attention inmediatly. She waved her hand for the other to get closer, murmuring something to her ear, the faded blue haired girl opening her eyes wide and taking a quick look at the window on their classroom, her making a huge smile while the other girl made a motion for her to keep quiet.
Akito found the sudden silence slightly odd yet comforting, the comfort going away as An ruffled his hair again, him lifting up his face off of the desk and looking up at the two girls. "An... Ah, Kusanagi. What now..." The boy pondered as to why they were so silent all of a sudden, An having a big grin that screamed "I'm planning something".
With a small laugh under her breath, An put her hands on the desk, gripping its corners as support. "Akito! My dear friend! It's quite hot in here, don't you think? Mind opening the..." An's eyes drifted off, Nene whispering to her as silently as she could. "Ah! The third window to the left?"
Akito could tell something was off, but he could use the walking, as he stood up from his seat, not before making a sigh. "Fine, I guess..." As he walked towards the window, he looked back at both girls with an eyebrow raised, opening the window in front of him. "I know you're planning something, I just know it-"
Pwoosh!
A strong wind came through the window, blowing his bangs off of his face for a few seconds, his eyes close shut at the sudden loud explosion. Before he had time to curse whatever just happened, his eyes slowly opened as he felt small pieces of colored paper falling down the sky. Looking down at the ground outside the school, he saw it. He saw him.
On the ground floor, there stood him. Blonde hair slowly fading to orange, akin to a sunset. His eyes matching in reverse, fading from orange to yellow, his eyes wide open and shaking as he obviously struggled to carry an old boombox, it reproducing a certain familiar song, one of Akito's favorite songs from Ken himself. Despite the loud music coming from the dusty stereo, his loud voice could still be heard clearly. "A-Akito! Hello!"
It's really him. Tsukasa Tenma.
"W-What the hell!?" Akito could quickly feel his face turning bright red, all the way up to the tip of his ears, as he felt the presence of both An and Nene, watching from behind him. "T-Tsukasa!? T-That was you!?"
Tsukasa smiled proudly, trying to disguise his obvious trembling smile as he kept holding the boombox over his head. "A-Aha! My dear junior, I'm sure you saw the surprise in your locker! That was in fact, m-me!"
It was the first time Akito had seen Tsukasa with an expression anywhere near scared or flustered, as he also saw his senpai wasn't alone downstairs making a fool of himself, but he was accompanied by purple hair with dumb blue stripes Kamishiro, long light pink hair Akiyama, and...
"Toya!? Y-You knew about this!?" Akito screamed from inside the building, not believing basically his whole friend list was downstairs, watching. As Toya only made a smile, Akito mad at his silent teasing, his cheeks only turning more in colour akin to his hair.
"Aha! L'il bro is all red! You've really outdone yourselves, Tsukasa! Rui!" Mizuki looked at the two, Rui having his typical cat smirk as he stood right next to a confetti canon, hiding it behind some bushes as to not alert the teachers and security. "Fufu~ Yes... I believe Shinonome-Kun will be quite accepting of someone's expression of feelings through a more... Exciting way." Rui looked back at Tsukasa, giving a cat-like stare and silently telling his friend to just hurry up and confess already.
"A-Ah, yes..." There was a small visible drop of sweat going down Tsukasa's neck, as he did his best to not collapse under the weight or rising sun, or even his feelings at that matter, as he only focused on his one and only.
"A-Akito! I-I have been a coward for far too long! The truth is... I-I can't keep this to myself anymore! I-I..." Tsukasa looked up, staring at those sweet olive green eyes of his, making intense eye contact as the two were obviously nervous, the rest of the students looking amused.
"Agh! I can't do this! Akito, I'm in love with you! Always have been! Even since the festival!" Tsukasa yelled, it coming out more shaky yet still full of confidence, Mizuki having a smile at getting to see such an anime-like confession, Toya smiling fondly at getting to see his partner and brother share such a moment.
Meanwhile, in the building, Akito stood quiet. His face was detailing most of his feelings out loud, as he only got more red, feeling himself breathe harsher and his vision slowly getting more blurry, feeling some weight over his shoulder, as An made a small smirk, watching as her friend got all mushy from a dumb confession. "Ah, Akito!~ What are you going to do now?~ You gonna accept your precious knight in shining armour?~ You gonna run to his arms and kiss him all sloppy?~"
An opened her eyes when she felt a push, though gentle to not hurt her, as she saw her friend suddenly run out of the classroom, her being shocked. "Wait! It was a joke!" Nene only looked down the stairs, brushing her hand and pointing down to the ground. "Shiraishi... Come see...!"
Akito didn't even processed his actions, all he knew was that he was suddenly in front of this... stupid blonde. This stupid blonde who just made the dumbest- the gayest confession ever. He wanted to punch his stupid dumb face, his stupid dumb and quite mushy and nicely colored and clearly taken care of with a clearly expensive face care, just punch him and...
And he doesn't know how, but Akito suddenly started thinking again.
Huh. That isn't his fist on Tsukasa's face.
Mizuki and An shared the same expression of shock, Toya looking away out of respect, Nene looking away out of disgust, and Rui... Well, he's Rui. He kept watching as his best friend just got a kiss on the lips from his crush.
"My, love is quite a blessing for some~" The tallest boy mumbled, still watching as the ginger slowly backed his face away from the blonde's own face. He could tell they were both quite shocked and flustered... And sweaty. That was quite noticeable. But there's nothing wrong with being shy as you expressed your feelings.
Akito panted heavily, staring intensely into Tsukasa's eyes and holding his cheek, as Tsukasa only blushed more, his mouth slightly open from shock.
"D-Does that mean..." Tsukasa felt his cheek being pinched slightly, wincing and closing one eye.
"It does, idiot." Akito replied, his intense stare now adorned with a small smile, a very low chuckle under his breath as the two boys shared a small quiet moment, being interrupted by no other than a sudden explosion, more confetti falling from the sky.
"WOO! CONGRATS TO THE NEW HUSBAND AND WIFE!" Mizuki yelled around, An joining her and laughing under the raining confetti, Akito finally looking away from Tsukasa to confront his teammate. "W-Who is the wife!?"
Toya looked fondly at his friend and family, his gaze calm and gentle, silently wishing them the best. Nene was still looking away, feeling slightly awkward, yet still happy for the new couple.
Tsukasa was the happiest out of all, without warning, he held Akito's hand on his own, more of clinged onto his arm like a needed puppy, his eyes shining brightly as he looked up at Akito. "T-Thank you! Thank you so much! I promise you won't regret this! I'll be the v-very best boyfriend for you!" Akito only looked away, feeling flustered at how fast Tsukasa used that word, as he gave a very small pat over the blonde's head. "Ah, yes... Thank you too."
His first kiss, his first relationship... Akito looked up at the blue clear sky, the sun making the confetti shine more, happy about his new life.
