Work Text:
It was supposed to be a chill date, one of many he had with Wise lately, but for some reason, Billy felt restless again.
There they were sitting, one beside the other on the small couch in Wise’s room. It had been maybe a week since they started to date officially so Billy wanted to believe that now that he had the entire “madly in love” thing down, his problems were finally done with and he could finally relax.
But boy was he wrong…
He was so wrong.
Now that they were dating, it was as if a pandora’s box of new concepts, questions, and insecurities he didn't know he had suddenly materialized into existence. He enjoyed every waking second of being around Wise, of course, but something was always nagging him at the back of his mind.
Just like he was doing right now.
Wise sat comfortably beside him, body leaning against his shoulder, looking at the documentary he wanted to see with the utmost focus and idly sucking on a lollipop.
Apparently, he had bought some candy as a gift for a friend that day and gotten one back as a thanks. So, now he was silently enjoying the treat by his side.
The candy was a brilliant red color, Billy imagined it was cherry flavored, and as Wise made it roll in his tongue to taste it, he often took it out to just hold in front of his lips which now were delicately tinted the same rosy color of the candy.
He tried to be as polite as ever and not stare at him too intently, but he was failing miserably at it.
Wise’s lips looked so… Beautiful, and enticing. They were not that full but not less attractive, in Billy’s humble opinion. He wondered what it would feel like to kiss them. Would they taste as sweet as the candy he was eating? Would they be slightly sticky, or as soft as they look? Would Wise be okay with kissing him even if he didn’t have lips of his own to kiss him back? He would be able to feel it regardless but would Wise even like it? Man, what if he didn’t? What if he thought it was weird to kiss a robot? Shit…
Billy heard his internals whirr slightly and his cooling system buzzed alive. God, was it just him or was it hot in here?
“You alright? You’re kicking more hot air than the HDD during work hours…”
“Wh-why, yes!! Everything's fine!! Haha, why do you ask??” The android stammered back, completely stiff on his seat and making it even more obvious how not okay he was. Wise shot him a half-lidded glance with his already narrow eyes.
“Billy…”
“A-alright… Maybe not.” Wise put pause to the movie and sat back, looking at his companion with a mixture of amusement and patience. “Haha, oh, but it’s just me being dumb for no reason! Is not important, really…”
“Billy…” The proxy admonished once more.
Billy could swear his entire face was hatched in that LED blush that sometimes appeared in his face as a signifier of shame. If he could, he would love to get rid of that feature, or at least tone it down a bit, but things were never that easy for him.
“Well…! I was just thinking… Hah! What a novelty, huh? U-Um…” He wrung his metal hands together and scratched the fabric of his jeans over his knees anxiously. “I-Is okay if sometimes I think about k-kissing you?”
Billy braced himself as if waiting for an atomic bomb to go off right within the room. But all he heard was the soft laughter of his boyfriend and then, the pressure of his body against his side. He felt an arm gently wrap around his waist and he relaxed his posture just a little bit.
When he looked, Wise was there, silently holding onto him, face as red as the candy he had in his mouth.
He was smiling.
“Of course it's okay. Why wouldn't it be?”
“I dunno… I-I mean, wouldn't it be weird to kiss a robot with no mouth?”
“Hey, if you want it and can get something out of it regardless, I don't mind.” Wise sat back up and looked straight toward Billy's eyes. “Would you feel it?”
“I…! O-of course I would! I'll have you know I got artificial nerve terminations all across my body! And I got them installed myself so you know they're all top-notch!” the android proclaimed with pride, crossing his arms in a determined pose.
“Heh-heh, sorry for doubting you… How could I forget how wonderful you are~”
Wise then surrounded Billy's shoulders with his arms and carefully pulled him closer. One of his hands began caressing the zone of his nape, combing through his soft white hair and Billy shivered, breaking character and, leaning to touch foreheads with Wise. He loved those quiet moments they got for themselves now. In which Wise would drape over him and soothe him, smoothing his hands over his clothes and pressing their bodies together to share some warmth and calm.
Of everything they did now as a couple, the intimacy and tenderness were his favorite. Despite how sophisticated and human-like his functions were, he wasn't used to being treated very delicately. Usually, people assumed that since he was made of metal he could withstand roughhousing and feel nothing, but with Wise it was different. He was always careful with his touches and often asked him if he liked what he was doing or not. He was just so sweet to him.
“Hey… wanna kiss?” Wise interrupted his thoughts and Billy took a second to process the suggestion. He saw it coming but even with months of anticipation he wouldn't be ready, he imagined.
His respiratory system picked up and he gasped a big exhale, nodding with his head as the gray-haired proxy chuckled.
Billy focused his sight on Wise's faintly pink lips, and he felt joy as he leaned closer, holding his cheeks. Choosing to close his eyes for a second he tilted his chin and waited, just like he saw in the romantic movies he liked so much.
Wise made contact with his glass faceplate, ever so carefully. First giving him a few little pecks all over the flat of his mask. He felt Billy stir underneath and hold him tighter by his waist. Metal hands gripped at his jacket with need.
Then, he chose to hold position, moving his lips and hearing the cute whimpers that came out of Billy's voice box. Wise’s lips felt so plushy and warm against him, he almost fell out of his body, floating on a cloud as Wise sat over his hips and peppered his faceplate with his kisses. Oh, how he wished he could taste them…
“You liked it?” He asked once they separated, wiping away some of the condensation that had formed on Billy's visor.
Billy simply nodded, apparently too out of it to express it with words at the moment. His eyes reflected both pure tenderness and melancholy.
“I just… I wish I could return it to you somehow. It feels weird having to always be the one getting serviced.”
“Don't think about it too hard, I enjoy being with you like this, I'm fine with whatever you can give me.”
“Whatever?”
“Yup.”
Billy thought about how lucky he was. He then just pressed forward until he reached Wise's face and pressed the flat of his faceplate flush against his cheek. Even giving him a little nuzzle for good measure. Wise's skin was so soft! He adored how warm he felt.
“I-Is not like the kisses you gave me… but it comes from my heart! B-because I really, really like you…”
Wise caressed his cheek and for a second Billy wondered if he had messed up, maybe pressed too hard. But then Wise sent him a big smile, bigger than he had ever seen Wise smile before.
“You'll be the end of me, you know that?”
“Huh? Where did that come from?”
“If you keep being so cute, that is…”
“Oh! Oooh~” Billy exclaimed, now understanding what Wise meant and promptly feeling his face heat up. “T-thanks…”
“No need to, I could stand here praising you for hours and hours at this point…”
They hugged once more. Wise buried his face flush against Billy's neck and this one shimmied in place for more comfort, welcoming Wise to drape his smaller body over him, both lying on the couch at this point.
Billy thought it was incredible how Wise simply made all his worries and anxieties melt away, his affection turned all his self-doubt to nothing in a snap. Like a sugar cube on the bitterness of coffee. If he had to compare love to something it would be to that, like his favorite drink turning even better with a spoonful of something sweet.
He was aware of how cheesy he had become even since he left the Outer Ring, less rowdy and frantic, more self-conscious, gentler even, but wasn't that what regular people did? Change over time? Discover new, exciting things about themselves? He didn’t boast to have lived a life worth living at all, human or android, he expected his past sins to catch up to him one day, but at least he wanted to believe that little by little, he had attained a brand of happiness that fit him. A balance amongst the chaos in which he had been born and he had made of himself someone of worth.
Right now as he held Wise in his arms, with the tingling sensation of his lips all over his face and the weight of his body over his, he was sure of it more than ever now.
