Work Text:
A loop of xenomorphic tissue and plasma extruded from his collarbone, and he chewed it absently.
It helped with his focus.
He had a collection of jewelery he'd aquired over the years to serve the same purpose, after a few too many ruined shirt collars drove him to search for an alternative. But despite regular use none of them had ever quite broken him of taking his teeth to his own body, shredded nails and lips and inner cheeks a testament to the addictive tug and tear and pleasant sting that nothing else could replicate.
Just enough pain to keep him concentrating, calm, and grounded.
That was, until Venom had come into his life. Now, whenever he felt that itch it offered up its own biomass instead. Studded with a constellation of pressure sensors and nocioreceptors and wired up to their neurons to deliver a variety of sharp and pleasant sensations depending on how it was manipulated, tough and resistant when a firm bite was wanted and pliable and fibrous when he preferred to rip and tear. And of course no damage done at the end, each piece removed simply folding back into Eddie himself, tissues parting for or resisting his enamel as they willed it without injury, lingering or otherwise.
It was a nice, pleasant feeling for both of them. The symbiote likening it to a massage, the soothing of an itch, the pleasure and satisfaction of the cat and its scratching post both; intertwined into a low-level sustained bliss that had it breaking into subsonic purring and happy wriggling throughout the day.
It let him concentrate on his work, it gave Venom something to occupy itself with when he was distracted, and it gave them a method and an opportunity for affection and bonding. Win-win all around.
Eddie's wounds healed, his skin for once umblemished.
