Work Text:
It had been a stressful day for Milo, the mushroom duo was in Imihama temporarily, giving out the remaining rust vaccines. While he was glad to finally be giving out the last of the stock, Milo wasn't very good with keeping up appearances for long periods of time. Hours and hours of smiling at his patients when he would much rather be riding around on Acutagawa finding the next place they were going to explore or having mindless chats with Pawoo. But he knew as Imihamas former doctor he had some sort of obligation to the people; especially given the fact his sister was the governor.
Nevertheless, the day was over and as the last patient walked out Milo physically let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding in. As he was sitting in his chair collecting himself mentally, Bisco jumped in through the window. Bisco had done this multiple times throughout the day but Milo would have to shoo him away because his workday wasn't over.
“Its 10:30 are you finally done?”
“Yeah, I am, my last patients just walked out.”
Bisco jumped down onto the floor from the windowsill he was sitting on and moved over to Milos desk to push away some papers not caring if they were important at all. He sat down onto the desk and instinctively Milo went to cling onto him.
Bisco knows Milo has always been a clingy person and has never really minded it, given the fact it was Milo Afterall. As Milo turned towards Bisco he wrapped his arms around his waist and laid his head down on his lap.
“You never change huh doc? Tough day today?”
“mm” was the only reply of confirmation Milo gave.
He kept his eyes closed and he felt Bisco starting to run his fingers through his hair.
This was a common occurrence for them. Whenever Milo would feel overwhelmed, or upset, or stressed, or really any negative emotion, Bisco knew he could calm him down by simply running his hands through his hair a few times. Bisco doesn't understand what Milo finds so therapeutic about it but doesn't complain if it means it can make him happy. It's like knowing exactly how to comfort his wife whenever she gets upset for whatever reason.
Milo loved how gentle Bisco could be, and only to him. He enjoys knowing that no matter how much anyone else may admire him, they would never see this side of gentleness he only shows Milo. He felt himself slowly drifting off and just started speaking whatever was on his mind while Bisco listened.
“I saw a guy that reminded me of my dad today, I miss him”
“An old lady pissed me off today...”
“I love you, Bisco.”
His thoughts, turned to words became even more random the farther he felt himself falling asleep.
“I know you do, Milo”
“Hmm?” Milo said back expectantly.
“...I love you too.”
Milo let out a hearty giggle against Bisco's thigh, satisfied with Bisco's response and right as he was about to fall asleep,
“...Hey wait! This wasn't an invitation for you to fall asleep! You have a big head Milo my leg is going to go numb. Plus, you're probably disgusting, you need to shower dumbass”
Milo simply grunted in retaliation as Bisco tried kicking him off by bouncing his leg aggressively, but Milo only tightened his grip. What he didn't expect however was for Bisco to physically rip him off of him (Milo would've never won in a battle of plain strength...) and to be thrown over Bisco's shoulder.
As he felt Bisco jump out the window and across the rooftops he simply accepted his defeat, he was still glad to have that small intimate moment with Bisco however.
As Milo was a little more than dragged to his own home and forced to take care of himself, he walked into the living room watching Bisco about to get into a wrestling match with the TV because all that was showing up was static.
He giggled at the sight as he continued to rub a towel against his wet hair trying to get it slightly drier until he passed out. He walked over to the TV and fixed the positioning of the antenna Bisco must've knocked out of place, the TV turned to the Tom and Jerry channel and Milo went to go sit down on the couch.
“...I was gunna try that next”
“Yeah, right after you punched a hole into it.”
“Shut up panda face”
A moment of silence fell between them as Bisco noticed Milos still wet hair.
“Let me dry your hair, sit down over here” He pointed to the floor Infront of him. Milo, too tired to complain, complied.
As the child cartoon ran in the background, Milo simply enjoyed the head massage he was receiving. Another example of Bisco being the softest only with him. While he loved running around to any place at any given moment, he also enjoyed these small rare domestic moments with Bisco.
“I'm so glad I met you Bisco,”
“Hmm? Where is this coming from?” he continued drying his hair with the towel being careful not to be too rough
“Nowhere, I just wanted you to know”
As much as Bisco wouldn't often say it, he loved hearing out loud just how much his partner cares about him. Just as Milo enjoys clinging onto Bisco like he was the only thing keeping him tethered to this world, whenever Bisco gets pissed off or upset, a couple kind words or praise can uplift his mood a lot more than he would like to admit.
“you're being oddly affectionate today, Milo”
“You're being oddly nice,” Milo rebuttled
“You can go dry your own damn hair if you hate it so much, doc”
“You know I didn't mean that.” Milo interrupted his process by leaning his head back to look at Bisco. Bisco just stared back at him intently until...
Milo burst out laughing, it was uncalled for, but it was such a sincere laugh Bisco couldn't help but chuckle along until they were both full on losing it.
These moments were the ones they would both cherish forever.
