Kiyoomi never could have imagined their night turning out this way when Atsumu first broached the idea of going on a double date with Suna and Osamu, but maybe he should have expected it. He never should have let Atsumu talk him into a laser tag double date. After all, a bit of mischief is bound to happen on a double date with the Miya twins.
“Omi, baby please? It’ll be fun and I promised Samu we would go out with them. He already bought the tickets. We can even do something ya wanna after our game ends. ” Atsumu pleaded with Kiyoomi.
Kiyoomi paused momentarily, thinking about what Atsumu was asking of him. Apparently, Osamu had bought tickets for them to go have a double date at the laser tag arena that had recently opened up nearby. “Okay,” he relents, “I guess it won’t be the worst date ever.”
They decided to plan the double date for next Sunday, after the EJP vs. MSBY game in Osaka on Saturday night, to go play a game of laser tag together. Thankfully after dating Atsumu for two years, he had gotten to be pretty close with Osamu and Suna as well, and was comfortable enough hanging around with them on one of their days off. They were probably his closest friends outside of MSBY other than Komori, Akaashi, and Yachi.
The next week of practice flew by and as usual, Kiyoomi spent most of his down time with Atsumu or doing chores around the apartment. He could tell Atsumu’s excitement, at seeing Osamu and Suna, was building as the week came to a close. It filled him with a gentle warmth to see the budding happiness in his boyfriend, knowing that he was part of the reason for his joy.
After the EJP v. MSBY game on Saturday night, Atsumu was tired from playing full sets; but that didn’t stop him from chatting Kiyoomi’s ear off on the walk to the team’s celebratory dinner. The two stayed for dinner and the first round of drinks at the bar before heading home. Once there they showered more thoroughly and got ready for bed.
The next afternoon Atsumu texted Osamu about their date

“Hey scrub Omi and I’ll meet ya at the arena at 4:30”

“Sounds good Tsumu see ya tomorrow good game tonight”
Present day
At 4:15, Kiyoomi and Atsumu begin making their way to the laser tag arena. Promptly, at 4:30 they walk through the doors of the lobby, nearly running over a small group of children who are rushing around. Osamu and Suna come in shortly after and the four of them walk up to the counter; presenting their tickets to the staff member and listening to the instructions carefully.
Their group follows the game master into the locker room, and take their seats while they go over the rules. Ten minutes later they are finally allowed to pick their teams and enter the arena. Because it is a new facility, the equipment is likely still clean, so he doesn’t need to worry too much about that, but after a cursory examination, he gives his selected vest a quick wipe down just in case. Kiyoomi and Atsumu choose the red team, forcing Osamu and Suna to scramble over to the blue team. Kiyoomi should have expected that the twins would want to be on opposite teams to see who could do better than the other, as they love making things into competitions. They hurry to get their gear on and rush into the arena.
The darkness of the arena is disorienting at first and Atsumu holds tightly onto Kiyoomi’s hand, dragging him along behind him. He hears Osamu and Suna immediately rush off in the opposite direction, hidden under the cover of darkness and they go to work putting some distance between them before the game begins. Kiyoomi looks around at the space Atsumu dragged them to, it’s a corner with 2 entrances; so they can each guard an entrance and no one can sneak up on them. It’s the perfect place to hide out because they can see all the other players running around them so they can score lots of points.
Over the speakers a robotic countdown begins playing “3, 2, 1, begin!”
Their vests light up and Kiyoomi readies himself to play the game. Realizing they were still holding hands, Kiyoomi pries his hand free from Atsumu’s to grab his ray gun to blast their opponents. He peeks around the corner, and sees blue lights approaching. He shoots at their vest, sees the lights shut off, and hears a quiet cry of frustration. A few more minutes pass the same way, with Kiyoomi shooting anyone who comes within range of his blaster before he feels an insistent tugging on the back of his vest.
“Omi, baby, put down yer gun for a second.” Kiyoomi hears a familiar voice whispering from behind him. Confused, he complies and turns around to ask what Atsumu’s doing. As he’s turning around, he feels an arm come up on either side of him, bracketing him in and Atsumu’s body pressing against his, pushing him flush against the wall. Oh. Oh. Kiyoomi sees what Atsumu’s doing as a sly hand wraps around the back of his neck, dragging him in until their lips meet.
It begins as a fairly gentle kiss, lips moving against each other languidly, but that all changes when the hand on the back of Kiyoomi’s neck slides up and entangles itself in his hair, lightly tugging. Kiyoomi finds his lips parting in a breathless moan, and Atsumu uses the opportunity to slide his tongue in, exploring Kiyoomi’s mouth. Kiyoomi tries to pull away, remembering that they’re in the middle of a laser tag arena as he hears a group of people running past.
“Atsu the game…” Kiyoomi whispers into the kiss.
“No one will come over here, it’s okay.” Atsumu shakily breathes out.
He pulls Kiyoomi into another kiss; it quickly turns heated. Their tongues intertwine as they lick into each other's mouths. Kiyoomi brings one hand down to grip Atsumu’s waist, the other coming up to tangle itself in blonde locks.
This is going to be fun , Suna thinks as he gears up next to Osamu.
“We have unlimited lives, right Samu?” Suna questions, “I want to make sure I remember the rules right.”
“Yes, my love.” Osamu reassures Suna, “The lights on your vest will power down for fifteen seconds, and after that, you will be back in the game.”
As the doors to the Arena open Suna and Osamu rush in. “We should find the ramp to the second level,” Suna whispers to Osamu, “we’ll have a better vantage point from above the rest of the field.” The two of them run, blasters holstered trying to get to the top before the game starts. Just as they reach the base of the ramp, they hear a robotic countdown sound over the speakers, “3, 2, 1, begin!” The pair pull out their guns in preparation
At the word begin their vests light up and Suna and Osamu quickly walk up the ramp. Upon reaching the top they see 6 other people from the red team, duck down behind the walls; only peeking up to shoot their opponents, taking them down. Both of them take down 3. The red team leaves the second level, realizing they’ve been compromised, and Suna and Osamu lay claim to the top. They peek over the edge, shooting at opponents as they pass underneath, quickly racking up the points.
Then, some heavy footsteps come thundering up the ramp behind them. It seems that a member of the red team caught onto their tactics and came up for revenge. They shoot at the targets on Suna’s chest, but Osamu dove in front of him, sacrificing himself to save his boyfriend, giving Suna enough time to recover and shoot their attacker.
Realizing their hideout has been given away, they decide to leave before any more red team members come up.
“Let’s go see if we can get Atsumu and Kiyoomi out before they get us, Samu.” Suna calls as they retreat down the ramp. They spent five minutes shooting enemies down from above, and now it’s time to take Kiyoomi and Atsumu head on. They quickly move around the arena, peeking around corners and shooting their enemies before they can shoot them.
They’re sneaking around the dark arena, when suddenly, they’re face-to-face with an opponent. Suna barely has a second to process what’s happening when he feels hands on his shoulders, hiding him from view. From the ground, he watches Osamu’s vest power down and fumbles to aim at the enemy, preparing to avenge his boyfriend.
Rounding the next corner, they nearly run into another person. Their face is lit up with blue lights, and Suna breathes a sigh of relief, not ready to deal with yet another dramatic save from Osamu so soon.
After five minutes of wandering around the maze of an arena with no sign of Atsumu or Kiyoomi, Suna tells Osamu, “They must be hiding somewhere, let’s go check the furthest corner.” He grabs his gun and sets off for the back, keeping an eye out for red lights.
Suna is busy looking ahead, so he’s unprepared when he hears a whispered “ get down ” from Osamu, followed by a stampede of footsteps going past the corridor they’re in.
Finally, after what felt like forever, Suna rounds a corner and spots red lights lighting up a familiar head of curly black hair. Before he can register what Atsumu and Kiyoomi are doing, he’s got his gun up, aiming at their vests and takes two quick shots to get them both before they realize he’s there. He watches the lights on their vests power down and squeezes against the wall as Osamu forces himself into the small room, acting as a human shield for Suna.
Atsumu is watching as his boyfriend destroys their opponents in laser tag. It wasn’t his goal to end up making out, but his Omi looks so attractive when he’s this focused, and the only other time he sees him like this is during volleyball. Obviously he’s not allowed to kiss his boyfriend senseless on the volleyball court. But now, he’s free to make his move , telling Omi to put yer gun down fer a sec and crowding him against the wall, giving him plenty of time to pull away before he wraps a hand around the back of Kiyoomi’s neck pulling him in for a kiss.
The peace doesn’t last long, as Atsumu pulls away from Kiyoomi with a scandalized gasp. “Yer a fuckin’ cheater, Rin! Ya saw we were distracted, that wasn’t a fair shot!” Atsumu yells out despite Kiyoomi’s repeated attempts at shushing him. Atsumu knew that kissing his boyfriend in the middle of the game would leave them both vulnerable to attacks from the opposing team, but he didn’t expect the bastards doing the shooting to be Sunarin and Samu.
Osamu yelled back “Well maybe ya should’ve been paying attention to the game instead of being focused on kissing yer boyfriend, ya scrub.” To Suna, he also whispered a “ nice shot love ” under his breath.
As his vest lights back up, Atsumu pulls out his blaster and quickly shoots at Osamu and Suna. He hits Osamu’s vest and watches it power down, but wasn’t able to get a clear shot at Suna, because his big-headed brother was in the way. Atsumu stomps his foot, putting his gun away, loudly cursing Osamu for being in the way of his revenge. Kiyoomi tries to calm Atsumu down, telling him that if he can’t calm down, they’ll get kicked out.
“Omi, I don’t care that it’s just a game, it’s the principle of the matter, they took advantage of us having our guard down! I can’t believe they have the nerve to do something like that!” Atsumu yells at Kiyoomi in frustration.
“I understand you’re pissed at them , Atsu, but you do not get to take that out on me, okay?” Kiyoomi replies to Atsumu’s outburst.
“Yer right baby, I’m sorry, yer not the one I’m mad at. I shouldn’t have yelled at ya. Sunarin, though, I can yell at yer dumbass all I want, I can’t believe ya would cheat like that.”
“Ya have some nerve , waltzing over here and shooting us when ya saw that we were preoccupied, ya didn't even give us a fighting chance to defend ourselves.” Atsumu continued shouting, not giving anyone else a moment to speak.
“If you had just paid attention to your surroundings, we never would’ve been able to sneak up on you. So really… it’s your own fault,” Suna exclaimed when Atsumu took a moment to breathe.
“All’s fair in love and war, ‘Tsumu, maybe ya should’ve been focused on the game instead of sucking face with yer boyfriend”
Osamu chimed in. “Tsumu calm down it’s just a game it’s not a big dea—”
“Samu, shaddup, I don’t want to hear it. This doesn’t even involve yer dumbass! Sunarin was the one who shot us.” Atsumu chided angrily. “Now get the hell outta here!”
“Atsu, baby, you’re going to get us kicked out, you’re disrupting the peace,” Kiyoomi made one last attempt at de-escalating the situation, but, it was no use, because in the next minute, the game master rounds the corner, a scowl present on his face.
“What’s going on over here?” Questions the game master, before continuing to talk. “I heard you all shouting about someone cheating.”
Atsumu pipes up quickly, “Sir, these two blue team members cornered us and took advantage of my teammate and I being distracted to shoot us. I wouldn’t make a big deal if it was anyone else, but this is my brother and his boyfriend, so I know they did it on purpose.”
Suna adds on to defend himself, “ These 2 idiots were too busy making out to play the game, so it’s their own fault.”
“Okay, well regardless of what happened, you four are disturbing the peace, so I’m going to have to ask you all to come with me.” The game master finishes before gesturing for them to follow him. He turned around and started walking to the exit, and the group followed behind him. He led them to the manager’s office and told them all to have a seat, and that the manager will be in with them shortly.
Atsumu sat down, wringing his hands and looking dejected and embarrassed. This was supposed to be a fun double date, they weren’t supposed to get kicked out of the game . It wasn’t entirely his fault, though, and he started to prepare his defense, when the door opened and the manager came in. She was a petite lady with long black hair, and her nametag read Shimizu .
“Shimizu-san, I’m terribly sorry for the inconvenience,” Kiyoomi began.
She nodded at him and then said “I would like to hear your account of what happened.”
Atsumu begins sharing his side of the story first, followed by Kiyoomi, then Osamu and finally Suna. Atsumu refuses to let Suna get the last word, so he interjects and begins accusing them of cheating again.
Shimizu cuts him off and says calmly, “Please let him finish, so we can decide an appropriate consequence for you all.” When all four of them finally finish sharing their accounts of the game, Shimizu sighs and shakes her head. “Kiyoomi and Atsumu, because you all acted indecently in public and caused a scene, I feel that a minimum of a 1 year ban if not a lifetime ban is an appropriate consequence.”
“Suna and Osamu, because you two also caused a scene in the middle of the game, disturbing the peace, I feel that a 6 month ban is an appropriate consequence.” Shimizu continues.
Atsumu indignantly interjects, saying, “Shimizu-san, they cheated, they should have the same punishment as us!”
Shimizu shakes her head and says, “They never broke any rules, you and Kiyoomi-san were just too distracted to keep them from taking advantage of you. You only have yourself to blame.”
“Now, I’m going to request that you all allow me to take your picture so that my staff know that you four are not allowed to play here. If you come over to this wall, so that I can quickly take your picture, that would be appreciated.” Shimizu continues, standing and walking over to the wall.
The four men stand up and follow her to the wall, taking their turn getting their photo taken. Kiyoomi goes last and quickly bows saying “I am sincerely sorry for the disruption Shimizu-san!” He pulls Atsumu down into a bow too. Seeing this, Suna and Osamu also bow to the manager, before turning to leave.
The four of them quickly exit the building and Atsumu turns to follow Osamu and Suna before he feels Kiyoomi’s hand on his forearm, dragging him in the opposite direction. Kiyoomi sighs, grunting out “We’re not leaving with them so you can continue this ridiculous argument Atsu.” Kiyoomi holds onto Atsumu’s arm the entire walk back to their shared apartment. When they step into the genkan, Kiyoomi says “Atsu, we’ll stay here and calm down for an hour before we go meet Suna and Osamu for dinner, okay?”
