Imperfections

Work Text:

A soft glow bathed the room, hinting at the early morning sun peeking through the curtains. A gentle rustle of the bedsheets was the only sound that pierced the silence, as Aya stirred lazily, her eyes fluttering open. She felt a warmth beside her, and she turned to find Mitsuki still asleep, her chest rising and falling rhythmically. The room was filled with a sense of tranquility that Aya hadn't felt in a long time. It was as if the whole world had paused just for them, granting them this quiet moment of peace.

With a smile playing on her lips, Aya carefully scooted closer to Mitsuki, wrapping her arms around the taller girl's waist, her hands resting gently on the warm skin of her flat stomach. The feeling of their bodies intertwined brought a sense of comfort that washed over Aya like a warm blanket on a chilly evening. She leaned in and planted a tender kiss on the back of her girlfriend's neck. Mitsuki's eyes remained closed, but a faint smile tugged at the corners of her mouth, a silent acknowledgment of Aya's affectionate gesture.

"Good morning," Aya whispered, her voice barely audible in the stillness of the room. She traced her fingertips along the curve of Mitsuki's shoulder, feeling the goosebumps that followed her touch.

Mitsuki stretched languidly and turned over, her eyes finally opening to meet Aya's. "Mm, good morning," she mumbled sleepily, the corners of her eyes crinkling with a soft smile. She reached up to gently brush a strand of hair from Aya's face, her thumb lingering for a brief moment. "You know, I never thought I'd be someone's 'good morning'."

Aya chuckled, the sound warm and comforting. "Well, now you are." She leaned in closer, her nose nuzzling into the crook of Mitsuki's neck, breathing in her scent. "And I'm pretty happy about it."

Mitsuki's hand traveled down Aya's bare back, her fingers tracing the contours of her spine. "Me too," she murmured, her voice still thick with sleep. They laid there for a while, basking in the comfort of each other's presence. The chilly morning air had no power over them, not when they had the warmth of their bodies to share.

Mitsuki's boxers were the only piece of clothing in the mix, the rest of their clothes scattered haphazardly across the floor like confetti. Aya felt the smoothness of Mitsuki's skin under her fingertips as her hand traveled up taller girl's back. Then, she felt something unexpected—a small, almost imperceptible scar on her spine. It was no more than a centimeter long, but it stood out against the otherwise unblemished canvas of the pale skin. Aya's curiosity piqued, she gently prodded at the raised skin, prompting Mitsuki to arch slightly in surprise.

"What's this?" Aya whispered, her eyes searching Mitsuki's for an answer.

Mitsuki's hand paused for a moment. "Oh, that," she said, her voice a little softer. "It's from when I was a kid. Fell off my bike, straight onto my back." She rolled over onto her stomach, presenting her back to Aya.

Aya sat up, her eyes widening as she took in the sight of the scar. It was so small and faint, it was easy to miss. She leaned over and kissed it gently, feeling the heat from Mitsuki's skin under her lips.

But as she continued her exploration, her eyes fell on something else—stretch marks, faint but noticeable, that traced the sides of Mitsuki's back. Aya had seen stretch marks before, of course, she had some herself. But there was something vulnerable about seeing them on someone else, especially someone as seemingly invincible as Mitsuki.

Mitsuki felt Aya's gaze and stiffened. "What?" she asked, a hint of defensiveness in her tone.

Aya swallowed, noticing Mitsuki's sudden self-consciousness. "I didn't know you could get stretch marks on your back," she said softly, her voice tinged with wonder. She reached out to trace them with the tip of her finger, feeling the slight indentations.

Mitsuki's shoulders tensed, but she didn't pull away. "They're from when I went through a growth spurt," she explained, her voice muffled by the pillow. "I shot up and my body just couldn't keep up. I thought they faded away, but apparently not."

Aya studied the marks with gentle curiosity, her touch light and reassuring. "They're beautiful," she said, her voice earnest. "They're part of you, just like all the other little quirks that make you, you." She leaned down to press another kiss to Mitsuki's skin, just above the marks. "And I love all of you."

Mitsuki rolled her eyes, but the tension in her shoulders eased slightly. "You're just saying that," she mumbled into the pillow.

Aya leaned over her, a playful smile on her lips. "Am I?" she asked, kissing the side of Mitsuki's neck, as the girl still laid on her stomach. "Let me see if I can find anything else beautiful about you."

Mitsuki's cheeks flushed slightly at her girlfriend's words, but she didn't protest as Aya sat on the small of her back, soft hands gently tracing her body. Aya felt the heat from Mitsuki's skin under her palms as she moved her hands over the pale shoulders scattered with a constellation of moles. They were like tiny stars scattered across the night sky, each with its own story to tell.

"Look at these," Aya said, her voice a mix of amazement and affection as she touched a mole right between Mitsuki's shoulder blades. "They're like little secrets hidden from everyone else. And I'm the only one who gets to see them."

Mitsuki snorted, but the blush on her neck deepened. "They're just moles," she said, trying to downplay the sweetness of the moment. "Everyone's got them."

"Not like these," Aya insisted, her eyes sparkling with delight. "These are yours, Mitsuki. They're part of what makes you, you." She leaned down to press a soft kiss to the mole she had been tracing, feeling Mitsuki's body respond with a shiver.

Mitsuki's hand reached back, her fingers finding Aya's thigh, giving it a gentle squeeze. Despite her initial defensiveness, she found comfort in Aya's gentle exploration, a stark contrast to the countless times she had felt self-conscious under the scrutinizing gaze of others. Aya's touch was different; it was gentle, caring, and filled with admiration. It was as if she was discovering a treasure map, each mark on Mitsuki's body a new destination to uncover.

Aya's hand traveled down Mitsuki's back, over the smooth skin of her waist, and then stopped at the band of her boxers. With a mischievous smile, she slipped her hand inside, her fingers finding the curve of Mitsuki's hip. The taller girl's breath hitched, but she didn't move away. Instead, she rolled onto her side, facing Aya, her hand reaching out to mimic the gesture. Aya's skin was soft and warm to the touch, and Mitsuki felt the urge to explore every inch of her, to learn every secret her body held.

They lay there for a moment, their eyes locked, their breaths mingling in the cool air. Then, with a shy smile, Mitsuki began her own journey, her hand tracing the contours of Aya's body. She found a small birthmark on the side of the pink-haired girl stomach, a smudge of darker skin shaped like a teardrop.

"I noticed this one yesterday," Mitsuki murmured, her fingertip lightly brushing the birthmark. "It's like a tiny teardrop, so perfect."

Aya giggled, a sound that was music to Mitsuki's ears. "It's nothing special," she murmured, her cheeks flushing a soft pink. But the way Mitsuki's eyes lit up made her feel like it was the most precious thing in the world.

Mitsuki leaned in closer, her eyes focused on the small imperfection. "Everything about you is special," she said, her voice a gentle caress. "Especially the parts that make you uniquely you." She placed a soft kiss on the birthmark, her eyes never leaving Aya's, and Aya felt a warmth spread through her body, like a warm embrace from the inside out.

The moment was charged with an intimacy that went beyond mere physical touch. Aya's gaze grew serious as she leaned in closer, her pink hair cascading over Mitsuki's shoulders like a soft veil. She pulled Mitsuki's face towards hers, their noses brushing gently before their lips met in a soft, lingering kiss. It was a kiss that spoke of understanding, of acceptance, and of a deep, unspoken love that had been growing between them.

As their kiss deepened, Aya's hands traveled down Mitsuki's body, her fingers landing on the firm muscles of her thighs. But there was something else there, something unexpected. Her fingertips encountered a bunch of raised lines, faint and almost hidden in the early morning light. Aya's eyes widened in shock as she pulled away from the kiss, her gaze drifting down to the evidence of Mitsuki's past struggles.

Mitsuki tensed, waiting for the judgment she had grown accustomed to. "They're from a while ago," she said, her voice a little shakier than she'd like. "It was a... a rough time."

Aya studied the faint scars, her heart aching for the pain Mitsuki had endured. She leaned down and kissed each one, her eyes never leaving Mitsuki's. "I'm sorry," she murmured, her voice a gentle whisper. "You don't have to hide these from me."

Mitsuki's eyes searched Aya's, looking for any hint of disgust or pity. Instead, she found only love and understanding. She took a deep breath, feeling a weight she hadn't realized she'd been carrying start to lift. "I never thought anyone would see them," she admitted. "Let alone touch them."

Aya's hands remained on Mitsuki's thighs, her thumbs stroking the scars gently. "They're a part of your story," she said, her voice soft and soothing. "And I want to know all of it."

Mitsuki took a deep breath, the weight of her past pressing down on her chest. "I used to cut myself," she murmured, laying back down and turning to face Aya. Her voice was quiet, as if she was afraid that speaking too loudly would shatter the fragile peace of the moment. "It was a way to cope, I guess. When everything felt like too much."

Aya's eyes searched Mitsuki's, looking for any sign of pain or regret. All she saw was the raw honesty in those grey depths. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to," she said, her voice just as soft.

Mitsuki nodded, her throat tight. "I know," she said. "But I want you to know. It's important."

Aya nodded, her eyes never leaving Mitsuki's. She leaned in, her forehead resting against hers. "I'm here," she whispered. "I'm not going anywhere."
