Chapter 1: The New Kid on the Block
Chapter Text
Welcome to Happy Hollow, Ohio!
At first, the town may look small and quiet, away to escape the big city or to visit the many parks and first to go camping. However, recently those peaceful quiet days were over. For about a year now, mysterious monsters have been appearing around town. Some seem innocent, but some cause trouble and destruction around the once-peaceful town.
However, despite the monsters appearing in this quiet little town, it didn’t stop three teens from investigating the matter.
In a cul-de-sac, a 14-year-old girl named Sara Covetman and her two best friends, Lewis Bright and Oliver Acrimony were in her room as the young girl put another photo on her pin board that was filled with news articles, photos, and even notes she got from her classmates about the monsters.
“Okay,” Sara spoke up, as she walked back and forth explaining the rest of her discoveries. “As of today, a bird-like creature was spotted last night not far from here.” She pointed at what looked like a parrot flying at fast speeds in the sky.
“Darling that looks like a regular parrot,” Lewis commented.
“It’s not a regular parrot, Lewis!” Sara exclaimed, facing her friend. “Reports said this parrot-like creature is far bigger than any parrot.”
Lewis and Oliver looked at one another and sighed, “Sara you’ve been paranoid over these creatures for months now.” Oliver said.
Sara scoffed as she turned to her friends, “I’m not paranoid, Oliver.” She replied. “I’m interested in this. Think about it. Weird creatures appearing in our hometown that haven’t been documented by anyone before.”
“Darling there could be multitude of reasons of what these creatures are,” Lewis said.
Sara glared and slammed her hand on the first photo on her board. This photo showed what looked to be a humanoid covered in flames. “Let’s start with an incident one month ago, where our teacher, Mr. Glare saw what looked to be a “man on fire”. How do you explain that?”
Oliver thought for a bit and came up with an answer, “maybe just a man wearing a suit.”
Sara rolled her eyes and groaned crossing her arms, “Why would a suit be made of fire that looks and feels real?!” She replied.
“I-I don’t know?”
“You don’t know!?”
Lewis sighed as Sara continued to ramble over the whole ordeal, again. He heard this the 3rd or 4th time this week, and decided to stare out the window. There he saw something that caught his interest; a moving truck pulling up to the house across the street, and following behind was a dark blue car. Catching his focus he decided to look into this, instead of listening to Sara ramble about “cryptids.”
Lewis tapped Oliver in the arm, and pointed at the window, causing the taller boy to look and see the new neighbors. The two boys saw a father and son exit the car and start grabbing everything from the truck and trunk of their car. From the looks of it, the son looked to be the same age as them.
Sara paused on her rambling and saw her two friends staring at the window, instead of listening to her. “Hey!” She yelled, snapping her fingers.
Lewis and Oliver quickly turned to their friend.
“Are you listening to me?” She asked.
“S-Sorry Sara,” Oliver replied. “It’s just someone moved into the neighborhood.”
Sara raised an eyebrow and went to look out the window to see the movers, and the father and son bringing in boxes inside the house. The young boy went to the backseat of the car and took out a box that had a blanket over it. This caught the trio’s eye as they leaned into the window to get a closer look, especially Sara. She then took out her camera and took photos of the young boy in hopes of putting this on her mystery board.
“What are you doing?” Lewis asked.
“Taking photos for my investigation, duh,” Sara replied. She continued to take photos till she saw something move inside the box. “What the…” Sara tried to get a close-up on the box and saw a pair of eyes.
Not long after the boy looked up and stared at the trio, Lewis and Oliver yelped and pulled their friend back as the latter closed the blinds.
The boy blinked before running inside the house holding the box tight. He went upstairs to his new room, passing his father in the process. The boy looked out the window making sure no one would see him. He let out a sigh and closed the blinds.
“Is it safe?” A squeaky voice asked through the box.
“Yeah, it’s safe.” The boy replied.
Back with Sara and her friends, the young girl was able to escape her friend’s grasp and glared at them. “What the heck?!” She yelled.
Lewis and Oliver sunk down, but not for long as Lewis got up in Sara’s face. “Why the heck are you spying on him?!” Lewis asked.
“Because I saw something move in that box!” Sara exclaimed.
Sara’s friends looked at her in disbelief. “Darling, it could be his pet,” Lewis replied.
Sara glared and crossed her arms turning away from her friends.
Lewis sighed, “Sara, we're worried for you, you’ve been into these conspiracies and question everything that happens in this town.” He said. “Please, just take it easy for once.”
Sara frowned and thought about her best friend’s words, they've known each other since elementary school, but she’s been interested in this since it started, and every person she explained this to treated her like she was crazy. The only ones who seemed interested were her caretaker and her two best friends. Now it looks like her friends are becoming those people who think she’s crazy.
Soon, Sara’s door opened snapping the young girl out of her thoughts as her caretaker opened the door to her room. “S-Sorry to interrupt, but Lewis, Oliver it’s 6:30 pm you two better get home since there’s school tomorrow.”
“Alright.” Lewis sighed, as he walked out of the room.
Oliver followed behind and turned to Sara. “See you tomorrow.”
“Yeah. See you tomorrow.” Sara sighed, watching her friends leave. Once they were gone, Celio took notice of their ward’s behavior.
“You okay?” Celio asked.
Sara looked up and forced a smile, “Y-yeah I’m fine. Lewis, Oliver, and I were having a discussion.” She replied.
Celio frowned, knowing Sara was lying, they knew it had to be over Sara’s obsession over these “cryptids” and that this obsession looked like it was starting to drive a wedge between her and her friends.
“O-Okay. Dinner will be starting soon.” Celio said before leaving their ward alone.
“Okay,” Sara replied. She looked at her camera, dug through the photos she had taken of the young boy, and tried to get a close-up of the box. Sadly she couldn’t see anything or zoom in further, but she knows for sure this was not a pet.
Meanwhile, Lewis and Oliver were walking back to their house. They talked about Sara’s recent obsession and how they’re worried for her. “I’m scared for Sara, darling,” Lewis said.
“Me too. I’m worried about her.” Oliver replied. “I don’t mind her being interested in all this, but it’s starting to become an obsession and it’s scaring me.”
“Same here.”
“And I don’t know how to tell her, because she-“
“Gets offended.” Lewis finished.
“Exactly!” Oliver exclaimed.
They continued to walk till they passed by their new neighbors and saw the new kid trying to carry some boxes. Lewis saw the kid needed some help and turned to Oliver. “Darling, I’m going to help the new kid.”
“Okay, I’ll see you at school,” Oliver said.
“See ya!” Lewis yelled, waving back before going to the new kid. Lewis grabbed two of the boxes from the top, “Here, let me help you with that.”
“Oh, thanks.” The kid replied.
At that moment the two locked eyes and started to blush. They turned away chuckling nervously, “I-I’m Lewis Bright.” Lewis introduced himself,
“I’m Wiatt Nicholson.” The kid replied.
“W-Welcome to the neighborhood.”
“Thank you!”
The two stared at each other a bit more, thinking of what to say to the other. “So…need help bringing stuff in?” Lewis asked. “Wow smooth Lewis, smooth.”
“I do actually,” Wiatt replied. “Just put it with the other boxes in the living room.”
Lewis nodded and the two walked inside the house and put the boxes down on the couch. “So, will you be attending Happy Hollow High?” Lewis asked.
Wiatt nodded, “I am.” He replied.
“Great, you can walk with me and my two best friends tomorrow.”
“That would be great!” Wiatt exclaimed.
Lewis chuckled. “Well…do you need help with anything else?”
“No. I think I’m good.”
“Okay. We’ll see you tomorrow darling.” Lewis then left the house and went next door.
Wiatt stepped out to see his new friend was next door to him. Lewis waved Wiatt one last goodbye before going inside the house. Wiatt waved back before going to the moving van and pulling out a small shoe box. He opened it before looking at Lewis’s house and smiled.
“Wiatt, think you can bring in one of the boxes from the van!?” Wiatt’s dad called out.
“Sure!” Wiatt replied back before closing the shoe box and putting it on top of the big box that he brought into the house.

Chapter Text
It was early in the morning, and Wiatt was packing his stuff up for his first day of school. As he was putting his binder away, a small purple and white blob-like creature popped up from the box watching the young boy put the last of his stuff in his backpack.
“Do you have to go?” The creature asked.
“Yes, Dorimon,” Wiatt answered.
Dorimon puffed up his cheeks, upset that his friend had to go to school instead of spending time with him.
“However, that doesn’t mean you left home alone.” Wiatt opened his bag, signaling the creature that he’s welcome to come with him. This made Dorimon smile as he leaped from the box and into his partner’s backpack. “Just stay quiet and lay low. Once you're somewhere safe you can appear.”
“Thanks, Wiatt.” Dorimon beamed.
Wiatt smiled, “No problem little buddy.” He replied, zipping his backpack just enough for his partner to breathe.
Wiatt was ready to leave for school before he turned back to the shoebox that sat on his desk. He debated whether or not he should bring it with him. While thinking, a knock at the door snapped him out of his thoughts.
“Wiatt!” Wiatt’s father, Owen exclaimed. “Are you ready for school?”
“I am!” Wiatt replied, turning to his father with a smile.
Owen chuckled. “Alright, there are three kids waiting on you.” He said ruffling his son’s hair.
Wiatt nodded and went downstairs, knowing Lewis kept his promise of walking with him and his friends to school.
Outside, Lewis, Oliver, and Sara waited on Wiatt. Out of the three, Sara wasn’t pleased having the new kid join them on their walk to school. Oliver took notice of his best friend and put his arm around her.
Sara sighed, “Why does he need to join us?” She asked, causing Oliver to let go of his friend.
Lewis frowned, “darling, Wiatt is new here, and I invited him to join us.” He explained.
The young girl glared, crossing her arms and turning away from her friend. Lewis and Oliver looked at each other, and the latter decided to speak.
“Maybe it won’t be so bad,” Oliver said, hoping to lighten the mood.
Sara still wasn’t convinced. Soon, she and her friends turned around to see Wiatt come out of his house.
“Uh…hi Lewis,” Wiatt said, blushing a bit.
“Morning darling,” Lewis replied with a smile.
Sara looked between the new kid and her best friend and ended up glaring at the former. Wiatt gulped feeling a bit uncomfortable about the girl.
Lewis chuckled nervously and decided to introduce his friends to Wiatt. “Uh darling, these are my two best friends: Oliver Acrimony and Sara Covetman.”
“Uh…hi Wiatt,” Oliver said, waving to Wiatt.
“Hi there,” Wiatt replied. He then turned to Sara who glared and turned away from him. “Uh…hi Sara.”
Lewis gave Sara a slight nudge to say hi to his new friend. She rolled her eyes, “hi.” She said, not looking at the new kid.
Wiatt was confused as to why Sara was cold towards him and decided to keep her distance from her. Lewis put his hand on his shoulder, making the boy slightly blush.
“Don’t worry darling, Sara takes time to open up,” Lewis reassured him.
“Oh…okay,” Wiatt replied.
“Well, let’s get going. We don’t want to be late.” Sara spoke up as she led the group to school.
“R-Right,” Oliver replied following his friend, with Lewis and Wiatt following behind. As the group walked, Dorimon sighed as he took a peek and saw some of the sights, even if very little through Wiatt’s backpack.
Once at school, Lewis, Oliver, and Sara were in their homeroom class. The three had to separate with Wiatt, as he needed to pick up his schedule.
Lewis was worried for Wiatt, even though the other boy told him he’d be fine.
Soon, the door opened and Lewis’s teacher, Eric Gale walked in. Lewis smiled seeing Wiatt right behind him.
“Alright class,” Eric started, “this here is Wiatt Nicholson, our new student.”
Wiatt saw the class look at him nervously before whispering to one another. “We hadn’t had a new kid in forever.” One boy whispered.
“Weird, a new kid showed up with what’s going on around town.” A girl whispered to her friend.
Wiatt felt nervous, but once turning to Lewis and his friends the young boy smiled and gave him a thumbs up that he’ll be alright. Wiatt smiled back knowing Lewis had his back.
“Mr. Gale!” A girl called out, as she raised her hand.
Wiatt, Eric, and the class turned to a young girl with blonde hair with the tips dyed blue tied into a ponytail, and yellow eyes. She wore a blue and red dress over a blue shirt.
“If it’s okay, Mike and I have a free seat between us.” The girl said, offering the seat between her and her friend.
Eric nodded, “of course Alyssa.” He looked over at Wiatt, who nodded back as he walked over and sat next to the girl and boy.
“Hi Wiatt. I’m Alyssa, and this is Mike.” Alyssa introduced herself and pointed at her friend.
“Nice to meet you, Wiatt,” Mike said waving to the other boy.
Wiatt saw Mike had a bead bracelet with the colors of the trans flag on it. Mike noticed his bracelet was showing, but soon Wiatt showed he had the same bracelet too.
Mike smiled and chuckled seeing he wasn’t the only one.
“Well, since it’s Monday and we’ve got a new student, why don’t we take it easy and introduce ourselves to Wiatt,” Eric suggested.
The class got excited they didn’t have to do much work and got to talk to the new kid for the rest of the class. The class turned to Wiatt and started to ask the new kid questions, which Wiatt was ready to answer.
“So why did you and your family move here?” A girl asked.
“Well, it’s just me and my dad at the moment, we figured we didn’t need to stay in a bigger house,” Wiatt answered.
“What do you like to do Wiatt?” A boy asked.
“I love making movies, oh, and fixing things.”
Lewis smiled, seeing that Wiatt was easy to get along with.
Sara on the other hand glared at the new kid, still not trusting him. Lewis frowned seeing his best friend being stubborn as always.
“Hey, Wiatt!” A boy called out.
Wiatt turned to see two kids, a boy and a girl walk over to him. The girl had pink hair tied into a ponytail Wearing a blue jacket over a black t-shirt with a shooting star with purple and yellow stars, jeans, and blue and white Converse shoes. Her friend had brown hair with the tips of his bangs dyed blue and a part of his bangs covering his eye. He wore a black hoodie, sweatpants, and black and white Converse.
“Before moving here, have you heard the stories of monsters lurking around this town?” He asked.
“Hayden! Don’t scare him!” A girl snapped back.
“N-No it’s alright,” Wiatt reassured his classmates. “I’ve heard about the monsters lurking around the town, however, it doesn’t bother me.”
This impressed his classmates, but like Sara, Hayden felt this kid was odd.
As Sara continued to glare at the new kid, she took notice that his bag was shaking a bit. “Huh?” Sara asked. She looked at her classmates wondering if they saw Wiatt’s bag moving too, however, most were interested in talking with him not knowing that something was inside his bag.
“Hmm…” Sara wondered, narrowing her eyes at Wiatt’s backpack.
The rest of the school day was normal for Wiatt. Nothing special, and Dorimon stayed in Wiatt’s bag all day, especially during lunch. Wiatt was able to sneak some food into his backpack to feed his little friend, which also made Sara more suspicious of him. Yet no one noticed it.
By the time school ended for the day, Wiatt was ready to go home, but not before being stopped by Lewis.
“Darling.” Lewis started.
“Hmmm,” Wiatt replied, turning to his friend.
“Are you free today?” Lewis asked.
Wiatt shook his head, “if you count doing some unpacking, then no.”
“Perfect, I want to take you somewhere,” Lewis said. “Follow me.”
Wiatt followed his friend upstairs and started to walk through the empty hallways. “So what did you want to show me?” Wiatt asked.
“Well darling,” Lewis started. “My friends and I have a club meeting every day after school, and we want you to be a part of it.”
“Club meeting?”
“Right, it’s something related to the monsters going on in our town,” Lewis explained.
Wiatt’s eyes widened, “o-oh!” He glanced at his backpack, where Dorimon was hiding.
The monster squeaked but used his paws to cover his mouth in hopes to not get spotted.
“Well…” Wiatt trailed off as he thought about it a little harder. A part of him wanted to tell Lewis and his friends the truth about these monsters, but would they believe him? It was a risk, but he was willing to explain everything to Lewis and his friends, maybe then Sara would go easy on him. “Alright.”
“Splendid!” Lewis beamed. He then took Wiatt’s hand, who quickly blushed at the gesture, “Come on!” Lewis and Wiatt quickly went to the club room. He opened the door quickly causing Sara and Oliver to jump and turn towards their friend. “Hey guys, we got a new member!”
Wiatt came into view and gave a small smile. Sara glared while Oliver smiled. “O-Oh Wiatt, are you going to join us?” Oliver asked.
“I guess I am,” Wiatt answered.
Sara groaned as she walked over to Lewis, “Lewis, why did you bring him here?” She asked.
“You did say you were looking for new club members, darling,” Lewis answered.
“Y-Yeah, but…” Sara trailed off.
“But what darling?” Lewis asked.
Sara was about to answer, but Wiatt spoke up.
“You don’t trust me, don’t know?” Wiatt asked, glaring. Everyone turned to face the smaller boy. He was tired of Sara’s behavior since he met her. “You know since this morning you barely talked to me or even been nice to me.”
Sara glared back. “You know, since you moved in you’ve been hiding something from all of us.”
“I’m not hiding anything.” Wiatt lied, pulling his backpack.
“So why was your backpack shaking earlier?” Sara asked, getting close to Wiatt’s face.
“What do you mean?” Wiatt asked.
“Don’t play dumb with me!”
Lewis stood between his two friends in order to break up the argument. “Okay, you two break it up!” Lewis shouted.
Wiatt and Sara growled at each other. “I won’t till he reveals what’s in his bag!” Sara yelled.
“Darling, you're taking this too far!” Lewis argued. “I know you’ve been into this whole monster discovery, but you're blaming Wiatt for no reason!”
As Lewis continued to scold Sara, Oliver heard static coming from the computer. He turned, seeing a silhouette appear and disappear. Oliver looked horrified and stepped back when suddenly the lights started to flicker.
Lewis stopped and, along with Sara and Wiatt saw the classroom lights flickering on and off. Soon static came from the computer and then all the lights turned off leaving the four kids in the dark.
Oliver yelped and held onto Sara tight, shivering in fear. Sara slowly removed her friend from her and groaned. “Great! The power is out and it’s all Wiatt’s fault!” She exclaimed.
“No,” Wiatt spoke up. “It’s their fault.”
“Who darling?” Lewis asked.
Wiatt pointed at the computer and saw a claw coming out from the screen. Lewis and his friend's eyes widened and shivered in horror. Soon a gray head with antennae, and round green eyes came out of the computer screen chuckling evilly as he backed the four into a corner.
“Them,” Wiatt answered.
Soon more of the creature’s body appeared showing a frill around its neck, long and thin arms, with a symbol on the back of their hands, and its body was made of strips of flesh that dangled separately on the lower end.
Sara squeaked in horror and went to the door and tried to open it, only for the door to lock itself trapping her and her friends.
“Oh great it’s locked!” She yelled.
Lewis and Oliver tried to get the door open as well, but no luck. “Come on. Come on.” Oliver repeated as he tried to get the door open.
The creature chuckled as he got closer to them, and with the door not opening they were done for.
“Leave them alone you big bully!” Dorimon shouted as he jumped out of Wiatt’s bag, and tackled the creature to the wall. The creature slammed into the wall and slowly got up, growling at the creature who tackled him.
Dorimon growled as he stood in front of Wiatt and his friends. Sara and his friend’s eyes widened in shock, seeing Wiatt secretly had a monster in his backpack.
“What in the!?” Sara exclaimed.
“Is that a-” Lewis spoke up.
“A monster?” Oliver finished, looking frightened.
Dorimon and the creature growled at one another ready to fight. “Wiatt, we need to fight now.” He said.
Wiatt nodded, “right.”
Sara’s eyes widened, “w-wait! Wait! Fight!?”
Wiatt takes out a small device from his pocket, which is yellow with orange buttons. He held it out as it glowed and soon Dorimon started to glow too.
“Are you ready?” Wiatt asked.
“Ready!” Dorimon replied.
Wiatt’s device started to glow and send a light toward Dorimon which engulfed them.
“Dorimon, Digivolve too…Dorumon!”
Dorimon, or now Dorumon was now bigger, looking like a beast like. They had purple and white fur, a large vulpine tail, two pointed ears with black stripes, and a pair of small black wings. On top of his head was a red triangle gem.
Lewis and his friends gasped seeing the small monster Wiatt had now grown bigger.
Dorumon growled at the evil Digimon, who snickered seeing he found a worthy opponent to battle. The evil monster then let out a powerful bullet from its mouth, which hit Dorumon, but not enough to take him down.
“Oh yeah! Metal Canon!” Dorumon shouted, as he launched an iron sphere from his mouth, which pushed the evil monster away, slamming the creature into the wall.
“Wow.” Lewis and Oliver commented.
Sara didn’t say anything and instead she took photos of Dorumon and the monster they were battling.
The evil creature chuckled and went to grab Dorumon. They held onto the other monster tight, but not before Dorumon bit the evil monster in the hand causing it to screech in pain and let go.
Dorumon started to glow a purple aura and was gearing up to ram towards the evil monster. “Hyper! Metal! Dash!” He shouted as he ran and tackled the monster into the wall again, this time it had enough force to leave a crater in the classroom.
The evil monster chuckled, as they got up. They saw Dorumon was equally matched. With a chuckle, they retreated back into the computer in hopes to battle Dorumon again once he’s stronger. Once leaving, the lights came on, leaving everyone relieved.
“Thank goodness that’s over.” Lewis sighed in relief.
“Yeah!” Oliver replied, chuckling in relief.
“How cool was that!” Dorumon cheered.
Wiatt went over to his friend and petted him. “You're strong as always, Dorumon.” He replied.
“Dorumon?” Lewis and his friends asked at the same time.
Wiatt nodded. Dorumon got nervous and gave a low growl to the trio, however Wiatt reassured his monster friend. “Dorumon don’t worry there my friends.”
“You sure, because one of them sounds like a pain,” Dorumon growled, glaring at Sara.
“H-Hey!” Sara snapped.
Wiatt chuckled, “Lewis, this is Dorumon. My partner.” He introduced his monster to Lewis and his friends.
“Your partner?” Lewis and his friends asked at the same time.
“Yep!” Dorumon confirmed.
Sara blinked a few times as her mouth was open in shock, “s-so you partnered with a monster?!” She asked. Wiatt and Dorumon nodded in sync. “S-So care to explain what was that…that…thing!”
“Keramon.” Wiatt corrected.
“Kera what now?” Sara asked.
“Keramon. It’s a Digimon.” Wiatt explained.
“A Digi-what now?!” Lewis asked.
“A Digimon,” Dorumon spoke up, causing everyone to face him. “It’s short for Digital Monsters.”
Lewis and his friends were still confused and shocked. The monster Wiatt owns and the monster that just attacked them and escaped are called Digimon?
Lewis looked at his friends, before turning to Wiatt. “Darling, do you know what’s going on here?” He asked
Wiatt nodded. “It would be best if I told you back at my place.”
Notes:
Okay to any Digimon fan reading this, YES you are allowed to imagine Brave Heart playing in the background in any of the fight scenes.
Also in this AU, Digimon have pronouns, so Dorumon uses He/Them pronouns.
Chapter 3: Meeting New Friends
Summary:
Wiatt explains to Lewis and his friends what Digimon are and asks them for his help.
Notes:
Here is the next chapter! I got started on this chapter as I worked on Chapter 2, which put me into a ton of writer's block thanks to certain dialogues and scenes. Luckily, I got them all fixed before I could share Chapter 2 with my beta reader, and it looks great.
Then…I had a bit of writer's block working on this chapter too, as well as quickly falling from Digimon hyperfixation. I tried my best to finish it before the hyperfixation went down, which I did. Now it’s back thanks to a brand new Digimon game coming soon!
Big thanks to my beta reader gigilefache.
Enjoy!

Chapter Text
Wiatt, Dorumon, Lewis, Oliver, and Sara were walking home from school and headed straight to Wiatt’s house. Upon arrival, Wiatt slowly opened the door and made sure his dad wasn’t around. From the looks of it, his dad got most of the unpacking done.
“Dad!” Wiatt called out. After a bit of silence, he concluded, his dad wasn’t around. He opened the door wider and ushered his friends in. “Okay, come in.”
Dorumon came in first and went straight to Wiatt’s room with Lewis and his friends right behind him. Wiatt followed the group to make sure his father wasn’t just in the kitchen or another part of the room. Once the group made it to his room, Wiatt closed the door and pulled his computer chair to sit down as his friends sat on his bed.
“Alright Nicholson, you better start explaining,” Sara demanded.
Lewis frowned and put his hand on her shoulder, “Darling, relax.”
“I will not relax, Lewis!” Sara yelled as she pulled back from Lewis. “We almost died from that…that…thing!”
“You mean Digimon?” Wiatt corrected.
Sara glared and crossed her arms, “Whatever.”
Wiatt sighed, “Don’t worry, I’ll explain everything.” He reassured the girl.
Sara glared, hoping the new kid would explain himself.
“So, what is a Digimon anyway?” Oliver asked.
“We’re Digital Monsters from the Digiworld,” Dorumon answered.
“The Digiworld?” Sara asked.
“It’s another world where monsters called Digimon live,” Wiatt answered. “However, for a while, I’ve been hearing that Digimon have been appearing here.”
“Wiatt.” Sara pulled her phone from her backpack. She went to her photos app, and went to the gallery she saved for all of her monster research. “You mean all these creatures are technically Digimon?” She asked as she handed her phone to Wiatt.
Wiatt looked through the photos and nodded, “Yep, those are Digimon.” He confirmed, handing Sara her phone back.
Sara took her phone and put it back in her bag. “Okay…so now that we know what they are, what are they doing in Happy Hollow?” She asked.
“That I don’t know,” Wiatt answered.
Sara sighed, rolling her eyes.” Great.”
“All I know is that Digimon have been coming here through portals,” Wiatt revealed.
“How do you know that, darling?” Lewis asked.
“Because I’ve been to the Digital World many times before moving here.”
“You what?!” Sara exclaimed.
Wiatt nodded, “Why do you think I know about what’s going on?”
Lewis, Sara, and Oliver looked at one another before turning their gaze back to Wiatt. “Do you know how these portals are made?” Lewis asked.
“Sadly no,” Wiatt replied, shaking his head.
Lewis and his friends frowned in reply. Sara was disappointed to hear everything put her one step behind over this monster mystery in her hometown.
“Are all Digimon nice?” Oliver asked.
Dorumon nodded, “Of course.” They replied. “Most are nice, but some are bad.” They answered. Oliver shivered at the fact that there were some evil Digimon out there.
“The Digimon appearing in Happy Hollow, have you heard of some incidents?” Wiatt asked.
Lewis and his friends tried to think of what incidents came to the top of their heads from their meet-ups and club meetings. “Well, darling,” Lewis started. “Most of the incidents are just the monsters roaming around the forest areas.”
“Though we did have some incidents, such as the company’s computer systems going down or attacks in the woods.” Oliver pointed out.
“Sometimes it’s a bit of both,” Sara added.
“Hmm…” Wiatt replied. He looked over at Dorumon, who knew what Wiatt was thinking about and nodded in reply, making the young boy smile. “Well, I’m glad you met me.” He got off his chair and went over to the shoebox and opened it. Wiatt then presented the three with devices similar to what he used during the fight with Keramon. The difference with his device and the three in the box was that the ones in the box were blue with dark blue buttons. “I was going to give one to Lewis, but I trust you two enough to get one of your own.”
“What are these?” Lewis asked as he took the device from the box.
“Digivices,” Wiatt answered. “It’s what I use to help Dorumon to digivolve.”
“Digivolve?” Lewis questioned. His eyes widened, remembering seeing Dorimon digivolve into Dorumon. “Wait, was that what we saw back at the school?”
Wiatt nodded, “Correct. Once a Digimon has bonded with you, a special phenomenon happens where Digimon evolve stronger.”
“So, Dorumon can evolve stronger?” Sara asked.
Wiatt was about to answer before his Digimon cut him off. “Yep! It’s only temporarily, but I can stay in this form as long as I like.” Dorumon replied.
Oliver and Sara looked at the remaining Digivices, looked at each other, and went back to the box. “Are you giving them to us?” Sara asked.
Wiatt nodded in reply.
“Why me? I don’t even trust you enough.” She added.
“I don’t trust you either, but you have tons of knowledge of Digimon like I do,” Wiatt answered.
Sara looked at the Digivice in the box and was unsure about grabbing it. She then saw Oliver grab one, making her frown as she was left out. With a sigh, she grabbed her Digivice as well before looking at it. “Okay, so now what?”
The second she said that, her Digivice, as well as her friends' Digivices, started to glow. Not long after, Wiatt’s computer began to glow to make him smile.
“W-What’s going on?” Lewis asked.
“Well, just like me and Dorumon.” Wiatt started putting his hand on Dorumon’s head. “You three need Digimon partners if you want to get up close with them.”
Soon, three balls of light appeared out of the computer and appeared in front of Lewis, Oliver, and Sara. The lights then formed into three Digimon who smiled at their new partners.
The first Digimon looked like a rabbit with four ears. Her body was pale pink, while her ears were purple; she had a crescent moon on her forehead, pink eyes, and a cowlick. She also had a pair of crescent moons on her hands and one on her torso, and a pink ribbon around her with a silver crescent moon medallion.
The second Digimon looked like a mouse with its left ear stitched up with a red witch hat. One eye was green while the other eye was a red button. The shoe they used was orange and yellow, with two white bandages made into an X and a dark orange trap with a green eyeball. The bottom part of the shoe was silver, looking like a mouth.
The last Digimon looked like a Triceratops with a white body, with black-tipped horns and tail, small black spikes on his back, a small pair of black wings, and red tip spikes on its frill. He also wore a red bracelet and a blue bandana around his neck.
Lewis and his friend’s eyes widened in shock, seeing the monsters right in front of their faces.
“Lewis, Sara, Oliver, meet your Digimon partners. Lunamon, Shoemon, and Gammamon.” Wiatt introduced the Digimon in the order they came alive.
Lunamon looked at her partner Lewis, and her eyes widened and sparkled at the sight of him. “Are you really my partner?” She asked.
Lewis was nervous and gave a slow nod. “Y-Yeah.” He replied.
Lunamon giggled and hugged her human partner, surprising him. “It’s so nice to meet you, I’m Lunamon!”
“Uh…I’m Lewis. Lewis Bright.” Lewis introduced himself. Lunamon snuggled and hugged him closer, giving a lovely sight. Seeing the creature was harmless, he gave a small smile and rubbed her back.
“It’s nice to meet you, Sara!” Shoemon beamed as she jumped up and down. “I’m Shoemon.”
As Shoemon introduced themselves, Sara’s head followed along with the Digimon. “Uh…nice to…meet you…too.” She said, feeling dizzy from Shoemon’s non-stop bouncing.
Gammamon looked at Oliver up and down, making the taller boy nervous. “You look tall,” Gammamon commented.
“Uh…thanks…” Oliver replied.
“Are all humans tall like you?” Gammamon asked.
“S-Some do,” Oliver replied.
“Cool!” Gammamon’s eyes widened and sparkled with amazement. He then jumped on Oliver and gave him a hug, which made the taller boy yell in shock. “I’ve been waiting for the day to meet you!”
“G-Great!” Oliver squeaked. The scared Gammamon hugged him tightly.
Wiatt and Dorumon turned to each other. “I think they’ll get along just fine,” Dorumon said.
“Yep,” Wiatt replied.
Meanwhile, at a shopping center not far from the neighborhood, things were normal at first till the internet went down, leaving the workers frustrated that nothing was going through and that they were being logged off their systems.
“Hey, what’s going on!” A lady complained.
“Your computer is not working, too?” Her male co-worker asked.
“Yeah.”
On the computer screen, Keramon was seen eating the data of the internet like he was a termite eating through wood. This internet eating caused the whole shopping center to lose internet and shut down the computers. After eating enough data, Keramon started to glow and digivolved into a chrysalis-like monster with sharp tentacles.
Keramon’s new form then started to come out of one of the electrical billboards, scaring all the civilians in the shopping center.
Dorumon’s eyes widened, and he growled, looking out the window. Wiatt took notice of his partner’s behavior, “What’s wrong, buddy?” He asked.
“Trouble’s afoot,” Dorumon said.
Wiatt looked over at his friends and their Digimon, “Hey, would you guys like to see your Digimon in action?” He asked.
“W-Wait, we’re fighting Digimon with our Digimon?” Sara asked.
“Of course, that’s the adventure of having a Digimon, Sara,” Shoemon replied.
“Fighting bad Digimon!” Gammamon added as he put his claws into a fist and started to punch the air.
Sara sighed, feeling slightly protected by the Digimon, but not enjoying this whole adventure with monsters.
Wiatt, Lewis, his friends, and their Digimon started to follow Dorumon, who tracked the scent of the Digimon. “We’re getting close,” Dorumon said, continuing to sniff out the Digimon. They continued to follow the Digimon till the group made it to the shopping center, where many of the customers were talking about what had just happened earlier.
Seeing so many people, Wiatt turned to the Digimon behind him, “Alright you four stay hidden while the others and I check to see what’s going on.” Wiatt said. Dorumon and the rest of the Digimon nodded in agreement and hid in the bushes as Wiatt and the others went to the civilians.
“Is everything alright?” Wiatt asked.
The civilians turned to Wiatt and his friends, and some of the civilians sighed seeing Sara, Lewis, and Oliver. Wiatt was taken aback seeing the reaction of the civilians towards his friends.
“Oh great, they got another one.” One man said.
“Uh…” Wiatt started, turning to his friends, who felt nervous seeing the adults. “We're just here to ask what’s going on.”
“Look, I’m not asking you weirdo kids anything. There’s no such thing as monsters. Grow up!” The man yelled as he walked away in a huff.
Wiatt scoffed and crossed his arms. “Wow, jerk.” He grumbled.
“Get used to it, darling,” Lewis spoke up. “We are considered annoying to an extent,” He then turned to Sara, “though one of us takes the cake.”
Sara glared and turned to her friend, “What is that supposed to mean?” She asked.
“I mean you do bother strangers with your monster hunts, darling.” Lewis commented.
“Agreed,” Oliver added.
Sara growled and glared at her friends.
“Excuse me.” The group turned to the female worker, who walked over to them. “You're those monster hunter kids, correct?”
“Yeah,” Sara replied.
“Okay, you have to believe me, but after the computers started to go off, I saw a figure that appeared on my computer.” The worker explained.
Sara took out her notebook and pen, clicking them. “What did the figure look like?” She asked.
“Well, it had a huge head, huge hands, and it had this creepy smile as it continued to eat the data.” The worker explained.
Wiatt and the others gasped, knowing it was Keramon causing trouble again.
Sara finished writing down what the worker explained and looked back up. “What happened next?” She asked.
“Well…the monster started to glow and change before escaping through one of the billboards. After that, who knows where it went?” The worker explained.
Sara was finishing writing down what the worker explained and nodded, seeing that she got everything. “Anything else?” She asked.
The worker shook her head.
“I see,” Wiatt replied. “Well, thanks for telling us, ma’am.”
“You’re welcome. Hope are computers will work tomorrow.” The worker said before walking away.
“Come on, we need to find Keramon and fast,” Wiatt said. The four left the shopping center and went to where their Digimon were hiding. There, they saw Dorumon, and the other Digimon turned towards them.
“Find anything?” Lunamon asked.
Wiatt nodded, “Apparently Keramon caused problems online, digivolved, and escaped.” He explained.
Dorumon glared and started to sniff out the area to find Keramon. He then caught a scent and pointed to where the evil Digimon was located. “He’s not far,” Dorumon said. The beast Digimon then sprinted off, hunting for Keramon.
“Dorumon, wait!” Wiatt yelled as he chased after his Digimon partner with his friends following behind.
Dorumon continued to get a hold of Keramon’s scent, growling, knowing he was close. He heard a stick snap and quickly turned, snarling. Dorumon looked around the woods, hoping to find Keramon, as sounds from all over caught his attention.
“Where are you?” Dorumon growled.
He heard rustling and branches cracking around him. Dorumon searched high and low for Keramon.
Dorumon gasped as he turned to Wiatt, his friends, and their Digimon. “Stop.” He warned.
“Huh?” Wiatt asked.
“He’s here.”
Wiatt looked around and stood by his partner as the two looked around, hoping to find Keramon. It felt eerie as the woods were quiet, too quiet. Oliver and Sara were frightened being in the woods, with Oliver holding Gammamon tightly.
“O-Oliver, please let go.” Gammamon struggled.
Lewis and Lunamon also looked around until the latter’s ear twitched, hearing something. Lunamon turned around and saw no one in sight. “He’s here.” She whispered.
Lewis heard his Digimon speak and looked around as well for Keramon. “W-Where darling?” He asked.
Lunamon looked around and gasped, “Look out!” look out!” She shouted as she pushed Lewis down, as Keramon swooped down ready to attack.
The group turned to see Keramon in their new form growling at them.
“That’s Keramon!?” Oliver yelled.
“Not really!” Shoemon replied. “It’s Keramon’s Champion form, Chrysalimon!”
“Champion form!?” Sara asked. She then looked down at Shoemon, “So that means you guys can get bigger and stronger?”
Shoemon smiled and nodded, “Correct!”
Sara groaned, “Wiatt, what did you pull us into!?”
“Uh…” Wiatt tried to think of a good reason, but got attacked by Chrysalimon’s tentacles.
“Wiatt!” Dorumon yelled. He growled at Chrysalimon, who chuckled evilly. “Metal Canon!” Dorumon launched an iron sphere from his mouth and launched it at the evil Digimon. However, due to how strong they were, it didn’t do damage.
Chrysalimon was about to attack again till Lunamon stepped into battle. “Tear Shoot!” She yelled as her forehead antenna launched a water orb at the evil Digimon. Chrysalimon hissed and used their tentacles to attack Lunamon.
“Lunamon!” Lewis yelled, going over and holding her. “Are you okay?”
Lunamon nodded. “I’m fine.”
Chrysalimon then grabbed Lewis and Lunamon, holding them tonight as he laughed evilly.
“Lewis!” Wiatt, Sara, and Oliver yelled, concerned for their friend.
“Don’t worry, Oliver!” Gammamon exclaimed.
“We’ll save them!” Shoemon added. The two Digimon went to face Chrysalimon, ready to fight them, with Gammamon going first.
Energy appeared in Gammamon’s claws as he flew to Chrysalimon and yelled, “Breakclaw!” He scratched Chrysalimon in the face, causing them to shriek.
Now it was Shoemon’s turn to attack. They hoped before jumping in the air, “Petit Needle!” She yelled. Shoemon took a deep breath and launched needles from their mouth. Chrysalimon braced themselves from the attack, causing them to let go of Lunamon and Lewis.
Sara and Oliver went over to their friend and helped him up, “Lewis!” They both shouted.
“Are you okay?” Sara asked.
“I’m fine, darlings,” Lewis replied.
Chrysalimon was getting angry, as they used their tentacles to swipe Shoemon and Gammamon away. The two opposing Digimon skidded to the ground, causing Sara and Oliver to go to them.
“Gammamon!” Oliver yelled.
“I’m fine Oliver,” Gammamon said, looking up at his partner.
“What about you?” Sara asked, holding Shoemon.
The puppet Digimon looked up at her partner. “I’m okay.”
Dorumon growled, ready to fight Chrysalimon. “Wiatt, let’s do it!”
Wiatt’s eyes widened. “Do what?” He asked.
A smirk appeared on Dorumon’s face, “You know.”
The young boy’s eyes widened. “No. Absolutely not!” Wiatt yelled.
“But Wiatt.”
“No! Remember last time I let you Digivolve!?”
Lewis and his friends turned to Wiatt and Dorumon. “Why can’t you let Dorumon digivolve, Nicholson?” Sara asked, glaring at the smaller boy.
“Yeah,” Lewis added. “Didn’t you say Dorumon can Digivolve into something stronger?”
“I did, but…” Wiatt paused. He was about to explain why, but he had just met his new friends and didn’t want to scare them off. “It’s complicated…” Before he could answer, he saw Chrysalimon about to attack. “Look out!”
Lewis, his friends, and their Digimon turned around and saw Chrysalimon’s tentacles coming towards them. Everyone tried to get away from them; however, they were caught one by one, except Dorumon.
“Wiatt!” Dorumon yelled.
Everyone struggled to get free from Chrysalimon’s tentacles, but every time they struggled, the evil Digimon held them tighter as he chuckled evilly.
“Wiatt, let’s Digivolve now!” Dorumon yelled.
“N-No!” Wiatt yelled back.
“Wiatt, whatever Dorumon needs to do, he has to do it now or we all die!” Sara yelled. Chrysalimon’s tentacles held her and her friends tighter, which couldn’t make them breathe.
“B-but.” Wiatt tried to argue.
“Darling, please!” Lewis begged.
Wiatt and his friends couldn’t breathe any longer, and soon Chrysalimon's remaining tentacle got sharper, ready to impale the group.
“Wiatt, make your decision now!” Lunamon yelled.
Wiatt looked between his friends and Dorumon, who looked concerned, seeing his friends in danger. As much as he didn’t want to Digivolve Dorumon, he was running out of options at this point.
With a sigh, Wiatt tried to use his left hand to grab his Digivice from his pocket. Despite the struggle and with time running out, he tried his best to grab his Digivice. The said item started to glow, and soon Dorumon started to glow as well.
Oliver opened his eyes and saw Dorumon glowing. “Guys, look at Dorumon!” He yelled. Lewis, Sara, and the Digimon turned to look at the other Digimon, being surrounded by a yellow aura.
Chrysalimon paused and looked over at Dorumon as Wiatt finally got his hand into his pocket and pulled out his Digivice, as the light glowed brighter, blinding everyone.
A blast of light came through the Digivice and went towards Dorumon.
“Dorumon, digivolve too…” Dorumon yelled.
The light hit Dorumon in the chest, causing him to glow and grow bigger. His claws, feet, and pair of wings grew bigger, as well as a furry white collar around his neck. The glow faded, showing Dorumon looking darker and bigger.
“Dorugamon!”
Lewis, Oliver, and Sara were in shock seeing Dorumon, or now Dorugamon, had grown bigger. Wiatt sighed, relieved it didn’t happen like last time.
Dorugamon growled and ran to tackle Chrysalimon, causing them to let go of Wiatt and his friends. The group fell down to the ground and looked up at Dorugamon as he and Chrysalimon were battling it out. Chrysalimon used their tentacles and held Dorugamon’s hands and feet, but this gave the latter a chance to use his attack.
“Power Metal!” Dorugamon yelled as he launched a large iron ball from his mouth at the evil Digimon.
Chrysalimon shrieked and let go of Dorugamon, which gave him the chance to headbutt Chrysalimon into a tree. The evil Digimon struggled to get up, but Dorugamon came by and was ready to scratch Chrysalimon. The evil Digimon quickly dodged the attack and went to attack next.
“Data Crusher!” Chrysalimon shouted as he launched his tentacles at Dorugamon.
The beast dragon Digimon dodged the attack, grabbed Chrysalimon’s tentacles, and swung him around before slamming them into a tree.
“Woah,” Lewis said. “Dorugamon is tough.” He turned and saw Wiatt keeping an eye on Dorugamon, with a stern look on his face.
Chrysalimon struggled to get up before Dorugamon came by and clawed it in the face. He was about to do it again, but…
“That’s enough, Dorugamon!”
Dorugamon turned to Wiatt, who looked worried for him. “That’s enough.” He repeated.
Dorugamon growled and turned to Chrysalimon. “You better go away.” Dorugamon let go of Chrysalimon and went back to Wiatt and his friends.
Seeing Dorugamon distracted, Chrysalimon was ready to attack from behind, but Dorugamon was able to sense it and was ready to attack before Chrysalimon could.
“Cannonball!” Dorugamon yelled as he launched multiple iron balls at Chrysalimon, which caused the evil Digimon to be launched in the air, never to be seen again.
Lewis and his friends were amazed by Dorugamon’s power. “That was awesome!” Oliver cheered. “Wiatt, Dorugamon is amazing!”
Wiatt didn’t respond as he walked over to his partner, Digimon.
“Darling, you okay?” Lewis asked.
Dorugamon breathed heavily and sighed as he reverted into Dorumon. He fell to his knees as Wiatt put a hand on his head. “You okay, Dorumon?” Wiatt asked.
Dorumon finally caught his breath and looked up at Wiatt. “Did I do good?”
Wiatt smiled and hugged his partner, “You did great, buddy. Real good.”
Dorumon smiled and hugged his human partner back.
“Aren’t those two amazing?” Lunamon asked, her eyes still sparkling from watching the fight.
Lewis looked over at Wiatt and Dorumon, letting go of the hug, and celebrating their win. He blushed seeing how brave the two were, “Yeah…they are darling.” He said.
