Work Text:
Toge crosses his arms, giving Yuuta a look.
“S-Seriously?” He asks, raising an eyebrow.
Yuuta just grins a mischievous grin that Toge has to pretend doesn’t cause butterflies to flutter around in his stomach. “What do you mean?”
Toge gives him another look. Even if the detector hadn’t beeped, it’s quite obvious that Yuuta has something shoved into his jean pockets. He lets out a sigh.
“I’m going to have to s—” he pauses, words getting stuck in his throat, tongue struggling with the sound, but Yuuta just waits patiently, with kind eyes. In the end, Toge has to start over. “I’m going to have to search you,” he finishes successfully, grabbing his handheld metal detector from his belt. He still has to do his job, even if Yuuta’s being ridiculous.
“Please do,” Yuuta says with a wink, making him flush. He forces himself to roll his eyes.
It’s a bit ridiculous, to have to use the handheld detector first, but protocol is protocol. Yuuta immediately gets into position, spreading out his legs and holding out his arms, showing how often of an occurrence this is. Toge waves the detector around Yuuta’s arms and torso, before moving to the man’s legs. Sure enough, when Toge hovers the device around Yuuta’s pocket, it starts to beep.
Yuuta’s grin widens.
“Do you have s-something…in your p-pockets?” Toge asks.
“Nope,” Yuuta replies easily, still looking unbearably smug. Out of the corner of his eye, Toge can see his coworkers and Yuuta’s bodyguards watch them in varying degrees of amusement and annoyance.
“Really?” Toge presses. He hopes Yuuta knows he’s giving the man a chance to back out.
Yuuta doesn’t take it though. “Really,” he says. Toge wants to kiss the smirk off the man’s face.
He lets out another sigh. “I’m going to p-pat you down now.”
“Feel free to take your time,” Yuuta shoots back.
Toge ignores the way his cheeks heat up again, heart pounding in his chest as he approaches Yuuta. This close, Toge’s line of sight matches the man’s chest. Ugh. Why does Yuuta get to be tall, hot and funny? This sucks. Still, he’s not going to let the man win this time. He’s sure Yuuta’s gotten patted down during security before, but Toge’s never done it to him yet.
He starts patting the man down. Yuuta’s cheeks start turning more and more pink as he continues, and he holds back his smirk.
“Something wrong?” He asks as he runs his hands down Yuuta’s sides. He tilts his head with a smile.
The pink in Yuuta’s cheek turns red. “N-No. Everything’s fine.”
“Yeah?” Toge continues, hands now moving to the waistline of Yuuta’s jeans. As per procedure, he has to brush his fingers underneath, to see if there’s anything hidden under there.
He’s expecting Yuuta to blush and stammer. What he isn’t expecting is Yuuta to look down at him with a gaze too similar to desire.
“Yeah,” Yuuta breathes out, voice rough.
Toge’s throat goes dry. Okay, maybe this was a bad idea. He swallows thickly, quickly reaching into Yuuta’s pocket and pulling out whatever the fuck he’s put in there, before hurriedly moving away.
In his hand is a tin can. He opens it, only to flush even more when he sees what’s inside.
The can is completely empty, except for a small note taped to the inside.
You’re cute :)
- Yuuta
“You…You….” Toge begins, feeling like steam is coming out of his ears.
Yuuta gives him a smug grin, and it’s Toge’s last straw.
“G-Get out of my line,” he rushes out, crossing his arms. “You’re free to go.”
Yuuta beams at him. “Always a pleasure, Inumaki-kun.”
Toge bites back a response, instead just gesturing at him to move along.
You win this time, Okkotsu Yuuta, he thinks to himself, as he watches Yuuta and his bodyguards walk away. He shoves the note Yuuta gave him into his pocket.
The truth is, Toge is probably Okkotsu Yuuta’s number one fan. Or at least, he’d like to think so.
Okkotsu Yuuta, currently one of Japan’s most popular actors. Toge’s watched all of his movies, dramas, short films— anything that Yuuta’s appeared in, Toge can say that he’s watched it.
Which is why, when he heard that the man had scheduled to go through their airport’s VIP security line for the first time, he’d begged his manager Shoko to schedule him for that shift, even if it was technically a bit unethical. But Shoko was never one to care much about that stuff.
“Sure, I guess,” she had said, before taking a puff of her cigarette. “Just don’t act crazy.”
Toge quickly reassured her he wouldn’t. He just wanted to ask Yuuta for an autograph, and that’d be it.
The day of, Toge felt quite prepared. He’d practiced what he was going to say enough times in the mirror to keep his stuttering at a minimum, at least, and had a pen and a photocard in his pocket for Yuuta to sign.
But the moment Okkotsu Yuuta arrived, he found himself a complete mess. His tongue felt like lead, his face on fire. Even with no makeup on and his face half covered with a mask, Yuuta practically exuded attractiveness.
He found himself stalling, as he waved the metal detector around Yuuta’s body, cheeks still burning.
Just ask him, he furiously thought to himself. Hurry!
But it was like his lips were sewed shut, and he knew he was soon out of time.
“You seem very thorough,” Yuuta had said, startling Toge out of his wits, before tugging down his mask and giving him a smile. A flash of mischief sparked in his blue eyes. “Do you want me to take off all my clothes? I don’t mind.”
He had given Toge a smirk that sent his heart into thousands of different directions. Toge had gaped at him, face in flames. He quickly shook his head, and practically shoved Yuuta out of the security line.
Yuuta had just chuckled, sending him a finger heart.
It was only later, after Toge had finished fanboying and freaking out that he found himself starting to feel a bit competitive. Yuuta may be Toge’s favorite actor in the whole world, but that doesn’t mean Toge will just let himself be one-upped like that.
The next time Yuuta walked through their security line, Toge was ready. Luckily, the man seemed to remember him, eyes lighting up in recognition.
“Hello again,” he greeted with a knowing grin, and it took everything in Toge to remain professional, nodding back.
Everything proceeded as normal, Toge doing his duties, but just before Yuuta left the line, he had stopped him, the man blinking at him with wide eyes.
“If you’re s-so eager to take off your clothes,” he began, “you c-can come over and do it at mine.”
He remembers smirking as Yuuta’s cheeks flushed red.
“Oh, um…” the man had stammered out, letting out a flustered laugh, “y-yeah. Uh—”
His flush deepened at his ineloquent response, and Toge let out a laugh.
“Sorry,” he apologized, looking smug, “Y-You’re free to…to go.”
Yuuta had nodded, bowing in thanks, before scurrying away. A total victory.
However, the next time Yuuta came through his security line, it was with teasing eyes that made Toge’s heart race.
“You know, I was thinking I’d rather have you come over to my place instead,” he had said, making Toge choke on his spit and break into a coughing fit.
And thus, their flirting rivalry began.
Their game quickly veered into absolute ridiculousness, but Toge never minded, even if Yuuta made his job difficult. The man would do things like fill his suitcase with batteries so Toge would have to search through it and find each one as Yuuta spouted pickup lines.
Still, all this extra work just meant Toge could spend more time with the man. Though all of their interactions have been fleeting, and their conversations mostly flirty banter, they’ve also learned a few things about each other, like Toge’s love for cooking. He’d accidentally revealed that he was a fan too, and though Yuuta is smug about it, sometimes he’ll ask Toge what he thinks of his latest work, looking eager but also maybe a bit anxious for his reply. In tandem, Toge has also learned about small snippets of Yuuta’s life— his cat, Rika, that he dotes on like his own child, and his love for salted cabbage.
In other words, Toge’s desperately crushing on the man. It doesn’t help that he already thought Yuuta was the perfect man before. But now that they’ve gotten to know each other a little bit? Now that he gets to experience Yuuta’s kindness and playfulness up close?
He’s totally helpless.
Still, he knows that it’s never going to go anywhere. After all, Yuuta is the It Boy of Japan, an actor loved by all. He knows Yuuta is probably just treating their interactions as something fun and silly, a way to pass the time.
So he doesn’t dare get his hopes up. Just keeps their fleeting interactions close to his heart.
“I need you at the VIP line today,” Shoko says when Toge clocks in, taking him by surprise.
Toge usually doesn’t handle the VIP line unless they know Yuuta’s coming. He doesn’t exactly know why they’ve settled into this arrangement, but he doesn’t dare question it.
However, Yuuta announced recently that he’ll be taking a short break from activities for a while. It’s understandable— the man has been working hard for years with barely any breaks, and he’s just finished filming a movie. He genuinely hopes Yuuta enjoys his time off.
Still, he was kind of expecting the man to spend his break at home with his cat, not go on a vacation. But barely thirty minutes pass by before he sees Yuuta's familiar frame walking in. He’s alone, this time, no bodyguards or staff following him, pulling a small suitcase behind him.
“Good morning, Inumaki-kun,” Yuuta greets with a smile. For some reason though, the man looks a bit anxious.
“G-Good morning,” he replies. “Is something wrong?”
“Nope!” Yuuta quickly answers, making Toge raise an eyebrow. Still, he goes along with it.
Yuuta’s luggage gets flagged by the sensors, and Toge rolls his eyes. He wonders what Yuuta has up his sleeve this time. “I’m going to have to s-search your bag.”
“O-Okay,” Yuuta stammers. Toge unzips the man’s suitcase and opens it up, only to become absolutely speechless.
Inside Yuuta’s suitcase is a bunch of flowers, and a note. Toge rereads the words so many times they start to jumble up in his head.
I like you. Will you please go out with me?
His heart trembles within his chest. He stares at Yuuta with wide eyes.
“U-Um,” Yuuta begins, “w-well, you see… I know we don’t know each other super well but um… I think you’re really cool, Inumaki-kun, and… I’ve had a lot of fun with you these past few months. And um… I think you’re really pretty and everytime we meet I just keep thinking about how much I want to kiss you— Um! I mean—”
Toge doesn’t think. He just moves, grabbing Yuuta by his shirt collar and pulling him in for a kiss. Yuuta stiffens in surprise, before eagerly responding, running his hands through Toge’s hair.
“I will,” he breathes out, once he pulls away, breaking out into a grin. “I’ll go out with you.”
“Finally,” a voice calls out, and Toge turns to see Shoko giving them a dry look. “You’re off for the rest of the day, Toge.”
Toge blinks at her. “What?”
She just turns around, walking away. “Enjoy your date. You’re welcome, Okkotsu.”
He turns back towards Yuuta in surprise, who looks a bit sheepish. “Well… I didn’t know how else to contact you….”
“So…you d-don’t have a flight?”
Yuuta shakes his head, and Toge breaks out into laughter. He’s never been happier. They leave the airport with intertwined hands.
