Work Text:
It was one of the few times when the junior psychonauts had gotten a moment of reprieve from the usual classes, missions, and tasks they were given in various intervals. As much as Adam loves it, it was somewhat exhausting jumping back and forth between everything. Currently he was in the lounge of the junior dorms, sitting alongside Lizzie on the worn and, frankly, beat-up couch.
"Where is everybody?" Lizzie questioned, looking up at Adam from her laid back position, head in his lap and legs draping off the end of the couch. Her usual layering of attire abandoned for a much more comfortable black tank and muted indigo sweat pants, various patterns scattered across the pant-legs. Her beanie was left on the small coffee table in front of the couch, along with items left there by the other junior psychonauts in varying conditions of wellness. Adam was wearing his usual tunic, although without his overcoat, and a softer pair of pants on underneath. Adam's bolero, however, was held on the corner of the couch.
"Hmmm," Adam began, racking his brain for what information he could find on his fellow agents, "Gisu said she was helping Morris with his station, Razputin was planning on being with Lili in her garden." Adam paused, having to think more on if he had even seen Norma, let alone Sam. Then, it hit him.
"Ah! Sam was going to spend some time with Compton, the ol' chap wanted to try reconnecting with some of his family, his words, not mine," Adam lifted his arms up in front of him for show, garnering a snicker from Lizzie, who watched intently as he listed out the reasons behind their fellow's unavailability, "and I believe Norma was earning extra credit by helping Agent Forsythe, I had seen her trailing the Second Head."
"Sooo... Nobody else around, our main supervision occupied, and no-one working will be off for a good while..." Lizzie trailed off as she cast her gaze anywhere else in the room, before landing back on Adam, her mouth lifting to a smirk.
She hoped to make her intentions clear, and based on Adam's expression changing to one of surprise, she hit her mark. Lizzie carefully lifted herself from laying her head on Adam's lap, and moved to sit beside him. His expression hadn't changed, however, and seemed to only be getting more flustered. It was harder to see Adam's blush, due to his darker tone, but his eyes always gave him away.
"Only if you'd like to, though." Lizzie iterated, placing a hand over Adam's in an attempt to comfort him. She'd understand if he didn't feel comfortable at the moment, everyone has been rather busy. Even if she needed a wind-down herself, he may have not.
The cold hand on Adam's own was a welcome feeling, the vibrant chill helping to calm him down somewhat from the images and memories flying through his head. He and Lizzie had been officially dating for only a short while now, but he couldn't lie that they hadn't had their moments before that. However, the anxiety around the whole thing made him hesitant.
"A-Are you sure? What if someone comes in?" Adam managed to finally get out, glancing towards the door leading outside of the dorms.
"Well... We can put something on the T.V. and cuddle a bit, then we'll just be able to play it off~!" Lizzie's mischievousness was often times troublesome, although sometimes it had the advantage of quick ideas that managed to work, either in execution or in conversation. When it failed, though, it failed hard, and Adam knew that from experience.
"Why not the dorm rooms? It'll be more private." Adam wasn't off-put by the offer, but he would rather have a safer bet than just the lounge couch. Plus one of their beds would be more comfortable.
"Because if someone reads for psychic signatures and senses us alone in the dorm rooms, we'll get our asses handed to us. Out here though, we're still alone, covered from the door, and if someone senses us they'll think we're just watching T.V." Adam searched to find something that could break that plan, but Lizzie actually had this relatively solid. If it did work, then that meant that occasionally they could have some moments together without having to leave the Motherlobe, and without prying eyes. As hesitant as Adam was of this, he also had to admit that he was getting tired of others either cooing, mocking, or acting rude about the few moments of affection the two gave each other.
Adam's face was in an unreadable state, him looking slightly downwards as he thought. Although Lizzie found this cute, there was that moment that she believed he was going to say no, and was ready for it. What she wasn't ready for, though, was Adam pressing a soft peck on her cheek, and giving a small grin as he pulled away.
"Yeah!" Lizzie came close to yelling out as she held onto Adams shoulders and gave him a kiss in return, although this time she brought him to lay on the couch, swiftly TK'ing a cushion under his head before continuing to give kisses and pecks. As much as Lizzie liked having a lipstick that doesn't smudge easily, she couldn't help but feel upset at the fact that she couldn't mark up Adam's lips and cheeks without applying a fresh, heavy coat. But giving him as much love and affection until he goes cross-eyed was enough of a goal for her.
Adam was reveling in this. It wasn't very often the two genuinely got moments together without someone butting in, so this started to feel like finding an oasis in a drought. Especially when Lizzie moved her hand up to his cheek, quelling the heat that radiated from his fluster. Adam blinked his eyes open before closing them again, having felt a quick swipe against his lips, a request that he gladly entertained.
Very gently, Lizzie felt a pair of hands hover over her sides before landing on her waist, allowing her to rest her weight against Adam a bit more. She decided to try something that she knew Adam loved, no matter how much he may try to keep up an appearance. A few pecks on the lips, trail the cheek, the jaw, and land right on the sweet spot on his neck, and-
"Aa-Aahh-hh! Liz!" Adam nearly choked out as he practically squeezed Lizzie's waist, the unexpected sensation giving him a shock. Lizzie, however, seemed to only be encouraged further by his outburst, focusing her efforts on his neck. The hand that had rested gently against his cheek now shifted to tangle into his curls, making Adam fluster even more than before, practically babbling out various praises and worries.
Except, as Lizzie continued forward, Adam kept his hands in the same place, and more poignantly, his mind in the same place. That had to change for the better.
A slow down in Lizzie's actions caught Adam's attention, and her lifting her form away made him worry. Did he do something wrong? Did he upset her? He just wanted to stay gentlemanly, it was what was expected of him, right?
"Hey," Lizzie said quietly, her eyes lacking the prior chaos, now holding a sense of understanding, "your thoughts get really loud when you start to doubt yourself. I get you're just trying to be polite, but that doesn't mean you can't do anything. Here," Lizzie trailed her hand along Adam's arm, to his own hand around her waist, and drifted it up and down, before letting it rest on her lower thigh, "you know you can explore, plenty. Trust me, I'll let you know if I don't like something. And even when I do~."
"I-" Adam was practically gaping like a fish, although he knew this to already be true from their prior little getaways. It was still weird in an area so familiar for a group. Although Adam knew one thing very clearly, and that was how to be a gentleman.
Especially for your partner.
Adam tested the water, giving Lizzie's waist, and thigh, a squeeze. When she gave a sincere smile and a light crease in her eyes, Adam knew that was the ok. Leaning up to give her a kiss, and they restarted their affections. This continued until Lizzie tried, again, to trail to Adam's neck. This time, however...
"*Gasp* Adam!" Lizzie exclaimed as Adam went from gentle caresses and squeezes, to propping his hands and lifting her, and himself, into a slanted sitting position, Lizzie sat directly in his lap. The smug look he gave her said all she needed to know, and very quickly she let him have the reigns to see what he had in store.
Hands resting on hips, eyes interlocked, and-
"-an't believe that actually happened!" Gisu proclaimed as she barged in, Morris right behind her. The two seemed giddy from whatever transpired prior to getting to the dorms, although they froze as they saw Adam and Lizzie shifting their seats on the couch.
"Hey, guys! How have you been?" Adam immediately put on his moreso dapper demeanor, placing his bolero hat back onto his head as he reached an arm over the back of the couch to face Gisu and Morris. Lizzie, on the other hand, was practically ignoring them as she acted like she was invested in the random show that was on the T.V.
The intruding duo, however, seemed suspicious of the two on the couch, but after a moment continued their paths, Morris heading to the kitchenette and Gisu stopping right outside of the hall to the dorms.
"Hey, Lizzie," Gisu called as she turned back, the girl giving her a somewhat cold, although without malice, look, "I have some ideas for decals if you'd like to help?"
"Oh, alright. This isn't a great episode anyways." Lizzie blatantly lied as she braced herself on the couch before getting up, attempting to not stumble as she followed Gisu to the girl's room.
A moment of silence followed, the random show based on media from a past time period being the only thing making noise, and it wasn't truly heard by either boy in the lounge.
"Y'know you can just let us know you wanted some alone time, I don't mind covering for my friends." Morris proclaimed from the kitchenette, opening the tiny fridge to see what they had. A sudden sputter of noise escaped Adam, appearing shocked.
"W-we weren't-"
"Dude, I absolutely know you were, you give off that vibe too strongly. You gotta reign it in." Morris quickly cut him off, rolling over to the side of the couch once he had found a can of dark soda he found sufficient. Adam looked mortified, and held his head in his hand.
"Am I really that obvious? I thought I was doing okay!... What gave me away?" Adam pondered as he glanced back at Morris, genuinely looking for guidance.
"You really wanna know?" Morris questioned, rolling his lev-chair closer as Adam nodded, "it's simple, really."
"You have a giant hickey on your neck."
