Dizzy Spell

Summary:

“Dazai! Breakfast is almost ready!” Chuuya called from the kitchen, his voice laced with a playful urgency.

“Just a sec!” Dazai shouted back, pushing himself to walk. But the moment he did, a stronger wave of dizziness hit him, and the room spun. He staggered, grabbing the doorframe for support, but his vision went dark for a split second, and he collapsed onto the floor, a dull thud echoing through the quiet apartment.

Chuuya paused, frowning as he plated the food. He could have sworn he heard a thud. Setting the food down, he moved toward the sound. “Dazai? You okay?”

Or:

Dazai gets a dizzy spell and Chuuya helps him

Work Text:

It was a normal morning, Dazai Osamu woke up to the faint scent of sizzling bacon and freshly brewed coffee wafting through the air as he began to wake up in his and Chuuya’s bed. He blinked against the soft morning light filtering through the curtains, a content smile creeping onto his lips. The warmth of the sun reminded him of his boyfriend, Chuuya Nakahara, who was undoubtedly in the kitchen, preparing breakfast as he always did on the weekends.

Rolling onto his side, Dazai glanced at the clock on the bedside table. It was nearly nine. Chuuya had probably been up for a while, working his magic in the kitchen. Dazai stretched languidly , the soft sheets tangled around him, and thought about how lucky he was to have Chuuya in his life. He felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude—until a wave of dizziness hit him as he swung his legs over the side of the bed.

“Whoa…” he muttered, gripping the edge of the bed. The world swayed slightly, and his vision blurred at the edges. He took a moment to breathe, waiting for the feeling to pass. Just a little dizzy spell, he assured himself. It was nothing he couldn’t handle.

Dazai stood up slowly, his bare feet touching the cool floor. He steadied himself for a moment, his heart racing inexplicably. The dizziness subsided a bit, and he felt more stable, so he took a cautious step toward the door.

“Dazai? You okay?”

When he reached the bedroom door, a chill ran down his spine. The sight of Dazai sprawled on the floor sent him into a panic. His heart raced as he rushed in, dropping the food he had prepared with care. “Dazai!” he yelled, kneeling beside him, placing Dazai’s head in his lap.

Dazai blinked, momentarily disoriented. “Chuuya?” he murmured, his voice shaky. “What happened?”

“You collapsed! What the hell happened?” Chuuya’s voice was full of worry. He pressed his palm against Dazai’s forehead, checking for any fever. “Are you hurt?”

Dazai let out a soft laugh, trying to lighten the mood despite the throbbing in his head. “I’m fine. Just got a little dizzy, that’s all.”

“A little dizzy?” Chuuya exclaimed, his eyes narrowing. “You scared the hell out of me!”

“I’m sorry, Chibi,” Dazai said, pushing himself up on one elbow. “I thought I could handle it. It was just a quick stand-up.”

Chuuya rolled his eyes, but the worry in his expression didn’t fade. “You need to be more careful, Dazai. I can’t be there to help you every time.”

Dazai’s smile softened as he looked up at Chuuya, whose brows were furrowed in concern. “I know. I’ll be more careful, I promise.”

“Damn right you will,” Chuuya replied, helping Dazai sit up fully. “How long have you been feeling dizzy?”

“Just this morning. It’s probably nothing serious. I just stood up too fast.” Dazai rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.

Chuuya sighed, his expression softening a bit. “You should have called for me. I can’t have you passing out like that.”

“Next time, I’ll make sure to scream your name like a horror movie,” Dazai teased, but he could see the worry still lingering in Chuuya’s eyes.

“Very funny,” Chuuya retorted, but a small smile broke through his facade. “Come on, let’s get you some water.” He helped Dazai to his feet, keeping a steadying arm around his waist. Dazai felt grateful for Chuuya’s unwavering support.

As they walked into the kitchen, Dazai took a moment to absorb the cozy atmosphere. The sun streamed through the window, illuminating the small table set for two, complete with plates of eggs, bacon, and fresh fruit. “Did you make all this?” Dazai asked, impressed.

“Of course I did,” Chuuya replied, sounding proud despite his earlier concern. “Someone has to make sure you eat properly.”

Dazai chuckled softly, feeling the warmth spread through him. “You’re amazing, you know that?”

“Yeah, yeah. Just drink this,” Chuuya said, pouring a glass of water and handing it to Dazai. “You need to hydrate.”

“Only if you sit down with me,” Dazai said, taking a sip and watching Chuuya closely.

Chuuya hesitated, then relented with a sigh. “Obviously I am, It’s for 2. I wouldn’t make you 2 portions, You big idiot..” Chuuya paused before speaking softer. “Plus, I’m not letting you out of my sight after that little stunt.” He pulled out a chair and sat across from Dazai, his brows still slightly furrowed.

Dazai took another sip, letting the cool water soothe him. He felt the dizziness fade slightly, and the comfort of the moment washed over him. “You really do know how to make breakfast,” he said, gesturing to the spread. “This looks incredible.”

“I’ll take that as a compliment,” Chuuya replied, a hint of pride in his voice. “Now eat before it gets cold.”

Dazai obeyed, picking up the food, placing it in his mouth, and savoring the flavor. The kitchen was filled with a cozy silence, interrupted only by the occasional clatter of dishes and the soft sounds of chewing.

After a few minutes, Dazai set his fork down, feeling a warmth in his chest that had nothing to do with the food. “You really care, don’t you?” he asked, meeting Chuuya’s gaze.

“Of course I do,” Chuuya replied, his expression serious. “You’re not just some guy I’m dating, Dazai. You’re important to me. I want to make sure you’re okay.”

“I know,” Dazai said softly, his heart swelling at Chuuya’s sincerity. “And I appreciate it, really. It means a lot to me.”

Chuuya’s expression softened, a small smile breaking through. “Just promise me you’ll take better care of yourself. I can’t keep worrying about you like this.”

“I promise,” Dazai said, sincerity in his voice. “No more dizzy spells. I’ll be careful.”

“Good,” Chuuya said, a satisfied grin on his face. “Now finish your breakfast before I decide to take it all back.”

Dazai laughed, feeling the warmth of the moment envelop him. He knew he was lucky to have Chuuya in his life, and as he picked up his fork again, he made a silent vow to always take care of himself—for both their sakes.
