Even though Nellie knew that Tater and the cousins didn’t mean to ignore her, it still happened. And she knew that she shouldn’t have gotten as mad as she should’ve again. But sometimes it was hard to not get upset when you were promised to not be ignored again.
Nellie was up on her bed listening to music thinking about Tater's promise. Did she mean it? It didn’t feel like she meant it if she forgot to include her again. I mean she had a whole page dedicated to her in her diary! So of course Tater cared about her! But it was annoying that she was forgotten once more.
Tater and the Primos went to get paletas from Hector and would go to the park afterward.
Nellie was excited to go but as soon as she had gone to the living room to meet up with the fam they were gone!
She decided that being angry wasn’t going to do anything. She took a deep breath in and let it go after a few seconds. Once her mind was clear she decided to go outside to get some fresh air and bring a chair out to relax.
Once outside with her seat, She lay in the chair and let her head fall back and her eyelids close. She was alone with her thoughts like usual. Her mind still felt that spike of anger no matter how hard she tried to calm down.
How could this happen again? Did no one remember The Summer of Ima-tater or what? Bad thought after bad thought her mind couldn’t catch a break. So much for relaxation! Nellie sat up straight with a huff. Try ere was no way her thoughts were going to shut up anytime soon and she had left her headphones on her bed and was too lazy to go back upstairs. She would just have to pay attention to the outside sounds for now.
Cars passed by, the leaves on the trees could be heard as the wind danced around them, and the songs of the birds soothed some of her worries away.
It was a nice day out and people-watching didn’t seem to bore Nellie as much as she thought it would.
Some of the neighborhood kids were playing on the street. Some played tag others on their bikes and a few on the pavement drawing with chalk. Overall a pretty chill day.
No matter how upset she was for her family for forgetting to include her, she couldn’t quite be mad at the slow and easy day she was having. There for sure would have been chaos if she had gone with her sister and Primos. They are a magnet for calamity after all.
Right as Nellie was about to close her eyes to fully relax she heard angry mumbling from up ahead.
She looked over and saw a short girl walking on the sidewalk. The girl was wearing a scout uniform and looked to be plotting something as she made her way to her own home. She knew this girl to be Tater's worst nightmare. Gwennifer Malfeo.
Nellie couldn’t lie that she was just a tad afraid of the girl. Gwen did achieve to piss off Tater more than she ever could and she also couldn’t help but respect it all the same.
Just then Nellie had a great idea! Well, more or less. Since her sister forgot all about her again, why not play a little prank? And she knew just the person to help her out with such an evil idea? Why none other than her sister's worst nemesis of course!
Nellie sat up from the chair and sprinted over to the other girl as quickly leaving the chair to fall on the ground. Nellie sprinted over to Gwen before she could make it home.
The girl, although startled, couldn’t help but glare at Nellie.
“Uh hello? What do you want?” Gwennifer asked rather rudely.
Nellie panted as she tried to get air in her lungs. (she should get out more and exercise because she couldn’t believe a short sprint tired her out that quickly.)
She stood up straight and looked down at the girl in front of her.
“I need your help in coming up with the most diabolical prank known to mankind to get back at Tater!”
