Chapter Text

This world have always been cursed by vicious figures who took advantage of the pure soul, giving their trust to the wrong people. It was a lesson Izuku should’ve learned earlier, leading him to face the consequences of a gullible choice that signed his downfall. The freckled man had everything he ever desired at the palm of his hand and lost it all overnight, unconsciously cursing the royal couple who signed their death warrant.

The narrative starts in the most simple way, with two childhood friends living in a close neighborhood, spending most of their days together. The fresh air would ruffle the freckled boy’s forehead, moving lost curls and admiring from afar how impressive his best friend was. Being the son of Inko Midoriya had never been an ease for his reputation, being hated by the other children who considered him a “bastard” child and isolated against his will. Inko was a lovely woman who raised her son on her own, trying to erase the public shame offered by the same man who blessed her life with a child and destroyed her reputation at the same time.

The name of Hisahi never crossed the small boy’s ears, even when innocent questions about his father’s existence escaped from his lips. His mother assured him about how he shouldn’t search too far into the unknown, convincing her son not to look after a ghost of his past. Unfortunately, the rumors were cruel, and the rumors concerning the king’s wedding spread in the small town.

The single mother tried to do her best to erase all this sorrow covering his precious eyes. He would make genuine smiles when she was around but transform them into pain once she was out of reach.  However, the pain residing in the woman’s chest faded away when her son returned with brighter shades on his face, feeling an overwhelming joy after hearing the great news: He made a new friend in the woods!

As the supportive mother she was, Inko took the time to sit on the small boy’s bed and listen to each story shared by this “Kacchan.” It’s been a while since her son hasn’t been this happy about something in the poor conditions where they lived, but this sight brought her a hint of hope for the future. Slowly but surely, the nickname of the blond resonated more often in the house, as the green-haired man explained with impressed eyes how his new best friend was amazing and he wanted to be like him when he was older!

With hindsight, the freckled man could now recall the numerous memories shared with his childhood friend, who became the most important person in his life. Each frame of a precious past was cherished like there was no tomorrow, as the small shadows running in the woods transformed into teenagers facing their feelings. Falling for the blond was easier than breathing, especially when Katsuki kept becoming prettier as the years went by, leaving the shy teenager blushing at the idea that those crimson irises were focused on him. His admiration turned into a unique discovery, transforming his peaceful chest into an overwhelming war of emotions in his tortured soul.

Katsuki Bakugo shared the same lifestyle as him, even if their lives were different from multiple angles. It was common to see the two boys helping each other on the other’s farm, being introduced to their mutual family. If Izuku claimed out loud how the blond was his best friend, Katsuki had a hard time expressing his feelings and considered the nerd as someone “tolerable.”

If the adults noticed the slight changes in their behavior, they refused to intervene in this heartwarming adventure. After all, it was touching to see how their sons, who barely believed in the notion of love, ended up facing this symbolic experience. Indeed, when Izuku and Katsuki were barely 10, they learned about the mayor’s daughter’s death, realizing how fragile life was, and refused to be alone in their final moments. As selfish and naive as it seems, the two best friends made a pinky promise to always stay together, no matter the obstacles in their next journey awaiting them.

Years later, the two boys held this tender pledge close to their hearts, recalling how their platonic feelings slowly changed into romantic ones. This impression of facing the unknown was scary, creating some distance between the two inseparable friends. Izuku started to consider that his friendship wasn’t enough to convince the blond to stay by his side, choosing silence and creating misunderstandings. On the other side, Katsuki was aware of his own flaws, bringing their bond down due to unsolved conflict in his chest.

Izuku and Katsuki’s feelings never stopped after this heartbreaking realization and became stronger, especially when new characters started to enter into each other’s lives. Friendships were born, and nostalgic glances crossed each other’s faces, wondering if they could one day return to their old dynamic.

Being a teenager wasn’t easy, and the next years became emotionally draining. All those feelings contained for too long started to drive their friendship’s final straw. Izuku Midoriya grew up and became this caring figure in town, adored by everyone and the target of failed flirting attempts. It was evident how everyone wanted to have a bit of the freckled man’s attention, making the blond jealous but realizing that he was no one to tell what the nerd should do. After all, if the freckled boy wanted to date this extra, it was none of Katsuki’s problem…even if the tears falling down his cheeks at night would say the opposite.

Despite the numerous justifications for his refusal to date anyone, rumors started to spread in town. It started with a judgemental glare every time his shadow appeared in the street with his innocent smile, letting the farmer realize how big it became when his own friends disappeared overnight without any explanation. The green-haired boy was heartbroken, trying to search for an answer, leading him to do something risky.

—--

A few knocks on the door forced the golden-haired boy to groan in his bed. At this hour, everyone should be asleep, especially now that the stars revealed their brightest light. He shouldn’t complain, it’s not like he couldn’t find sleep…especially when his head was mostly occupied by his childhood friend’s existence. Even if he and the nerd stayed in touch, their conversation remained uncomfortable when it came to the relationship, wondering if it was a question of time before seeing this fragile bond break overnight.

The background noises kept repeating themselves, this time being louder and playing with the blond’s nerves. With a sigh, his callous hands opened the wooden door, ready to shout at the stranger to leave, but his heart missed a beat when he recognized the familiar teary eyes. The shorter figure used to always ring at his door when they were just kid, with a radiant expression on his face, asking the old hag if he could borrow his best friend for an entire afternoon.

Back in the day, Katsuki used to pretend he didn’t care about the surprise visits but secretly cared about the glowing emerald eyes looking at him as if he were his entire universe. However, time imposed its own rules and caused the close friends to transform their hanging out into farmer’s activity…facing ghosts of their past in each of their interactions.

“Deku,” the nickname, naturally escaped from his lips without realizing it, being too distracted by the shaking figure under his eyes. It was unnatural to say out loud a name he had called so many times, but his instincts alerted him about the emergency. He might be a ghost of the nerd’s past, but he refused to let his childhood friend down!

“Kacchan,” there was something hurtful with the broken voice filling the previous silence. This town always gave the impression of living in a haunted castle where each footstep resonated like a curse and where tormented souls were welcomed. Izuku never thought he would end up here, but he trusted the call of hold inside his chest, begging him to reach for his last hint of hope.

“What’s wrong ?” The blond asked with concern.

He noticed how the emerald eyes widened, being surprised when the shorter boy rushed into his chest. The gesture caught the blond off-guard, feeling the fresh air wiping his skin, heating at the sudden touch. However, the last thing Izuku remembered was letting his body move on its own to find comfort in the only person who never disappointed him…Katsuki Bakugo, the very first friend who believed in him.

As stupid as he sounded, the freckled boy was scared to let his feelings interfere with their friendship and put aside their bond that was barely surviving. He might’ve messed up and hurt the only person he loved more than himself, but he’ll apologize later…for the moment, he needed a place to rest.

“This shit looks serious, the last time I saw you in such a state was when I told you that the All Might Swords Quest was the worst tale,” the taller man pointed out, sensing how the previous grab relaxed at the comment.

If the teenager didn’t reply, he took a deep breath to rest his head closer to the farmer’s chest, holding him like he was afraid of losing him overnight. Scarred hands held the fabric of the shirt closer, resting a little longer into the returned hug offered by the taller figure. After all, Katsuki has never been the kind of person to express himself when it came to vulnerability, but seeing him make an effort convinced the farmer that he made the right choice.

“I’m scared,” the freckled boy mumbled with a shaking tone, regaining his breath. Don’t get him wrong, he knew how this situation was, but he was reassured by the fact that Katsuki would never judge him, even with the worst of crimes. Under this angle, the hesitant teenager noticed how the crimson eyes became worried at the previous comment, unconsciously bringing him closer. “Haruki and Ayato left me behind. I don’t know what I did wrong, but everyone is looking down on me for unknown reasons. I have the impression of being treated like a bother, and I have nowhere to go….”

“Well, not everyone,” the taller boy hinted with a grin, catching how the emerald irises widened at the sudden revelation. Even if the darkness had already taken the lead, the blond was still able to distinguish the different shades of coloring the messy curls and lost freckles on his cheeks. Izuku’s face was begging for answers, even if the slight movements of his lips weren’t enough to express out loud the question residing at the top of his tongue. “I’ve never looked down on you, even when you were spending hours talking about this shitty tale meant to you. I’ve never trusted them, but you might think my opinions are biased.”

Izuku’s face softened. It was the first time the two teenagers shared a real conversation, and it was comforting to know they could still be the shoulder to cry on.

“I trusted them, but if I’m completely honest, I knew their friendship would never be like ours,” he explained with a soft tone, wiping his tears. The wind crossed his skin, ruined by the euphoria of the moment, catching how this situation might look on the outside. If someone was finding them hanging out this late, the whispers would worsen their bond already thin. “I’m sorry for leaving you behind, Kacchan. It was never my intention to let you suffer, especially when you’re the only one I care about, but I want to pretend a little longer that our friendship isn’t doomed to failure.”

“If you think your mistakes will cost the loss of all the memories we created, you’re wrong, freckles,” corrected the other, putting his fingers in the messy curls and noticing how the freckled boy’s face turned into a genuine smile. One the farmer hasn’t seen in a long time. “I should be the one apologizing for breaking us apart, but I want you to know that we’ll figure this out together like we always did.”

After all, this story started with Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo…and it’ll end the same way, with them against the rest of the world.

“Enough talk, you look like shit and need some rest,” the taller boy admitted with a grin, observing how the freckled figure nodded in reply. “Come on, you’ll catch a cold.”

The two figures entered the silenced house, built years ago and bought by Katsuki’s parents. The freckled boy always loved spending time in his place, having th impression of being transported into another world during one afternoon. Katsuki didn’t even need to ask why his childhood friend was here, remembering how his parents and Inko agreed to make a three-day trip and leave their sons alone during this short time.

If the old Katsuki was impressed by the idea of spending complete days with his best friend, the teenage self was more hesitant, trying not to make the other uncomfortable. However, the green-haired boy noticed the change of behavior, letting the farmer know how he could read into his eyes like an open book.

“What did you know exactly ?” Katsuki asked with an intrigued tone, sitting on his bed and observing how the shorter boy joined him with hesitation. None could recall the last time they’d been this close, reminding them of the old sleepover parties that used to make them the happiest kids in the neighborhood. Having their parents as friends made the process easier, especially when their houses were separated by a few meters in case there was an emergency. Once the adults were out of reach, the two boys decided to create their own fantasy world, where the great soldier Izuku Midoriya was standing by the prince’s side. Katsuki always wanted to have the most important role in their stories, being a reason to have the nerd’s admiration as a selfish pleasure. Their sleepovers usually end up with their small figures falling on the sheets, unconsciously holding each other with a delighted smile at the tip of their lips.

“Nothing,” Izuku replied, playing with the fabric of his clothes stressfully. “I begged them to give me a proper reason, but they cursed my name and left. In recent days, I have the impression of being constantly stalked by vultures, gossiping about each of my actions. The only thing I wanted was to please everyone…not become their enemy.”

The blond wondered how long the nerd felt that way and if the separation from their friendship also had an impact on this rush of sadness filling his chest. Rebuilding their old dynamic might take a long time, especially after the previous mistakes they’ve made that fragilized this invisible string. It was clear how the two friends cared about each other, refusing to let the other be a blurry part of their past, leading them to believe in a second chance.

“None of their words matter in the first place,” the taller figure pointed out, catching the fascinated expression rising in the farmer’s irises. “If they want to be assholes, let them be but don’t ever think you were the one ruining this friendship. The Deku I know was devoted enough to show how much he cared about his loved ones, and none of this is your fault. We’ll find the bastard who started this mess, I promise.”

“I’m sorry for leaving you behind. Are you still mad at me for being distant ?” Izuku asked, resting his head against the other’s shoulders. Indeed, this question crossed his mind more than once in the last few years, watching his childhood friend from afar with his new group.

“Don’t apologize, you did your best to protect yourself. It would be a hypocrite for me to say yes when I did the same thing,” he added, letting his hands lose themselves behind the shorter man’s back. “But one of my biggest regrets is to let you go without explaining how much our friendship means to me. Do you think you’re too old for a sleepover ?”

A relieved expression crossed the farmer’s face, erasing the previous doubts into a reassuring glance. His body naturally reached the blond’s sheet, crossing his legs and positioning himself against the cold wall under the surprised glance of the blond. This scene might look innocent on the outside, but both teenagers understood this reminder of their treasured memories of their childhood.

“I’ll always find the time for a sleepover with you, Kacchan,” he explained with a soft tone, watching the taller figure sitting in front of him with a slight smile on his face. “Tell me more about you, I’m genuinely curious to know everything about what I missed !”

The conversation started with different topics mentioned, including how the two of them were doing since their separation, until the sunrise appeared at the windows and highlighted their two shadows in the room. Their bodies could be seen resting in the warmth sheet, with messy green curls against the blond’s chest, letting his fingers unconsciously hold the fabric of the farmer’s shirt closer.

It’s been a while since the freckled man felt this heartbeat that mirrored as a melody to his ears, appreciating how this song became his favorite, despite the voices in his head convincing him that he’ll never be enough for an outstanding soul like Katsuki’s. After all, it was never too late to start on a good basis….even with romantic feelings involved.

—----

Without realizing it, the ignorant afternoon became weeks, strengthening the fragile bond that was Izuku and Katsuki’s relationship.

Their shadows could be seen hanging out together most of the time, especially in town, where the childhood friends decided to use their bond as a strength. Slowly but surely, their old dynamic returned as nothing changed, realizing how much they missed each other: Each laugh and hidden smile was cherished like a treasure, even when a few blushed joined their heated conversations.

Izuku has never been this happy: He was still the center of attention in town, but he found the missing piece he always looked for. His old friends gave judgemental glances, but he was thankful to have his white knight by his side. Falling in love with Katsuki guides his sensitive heart to discover another angle of this boy he regards as his missing piece. Izuku couldn’t help but wonder if his smirk, tease, and charming expression always softened when he was around or if it was another proof of their platonic friendship.

Things weren’t so different on Katsuki’s side: He realized how their dynamic often left more than one curious eye jealous, realizing how having the nerd by his side was a blessing. Spending time with the farmer echoed as staring at an ethereal painting under his eyes, making him addicted every time he noticed new details about this work of art.

However, Katsuki was able to sense the curse, leaving the extra lips every time he was seen with the nerd in public. His parents and Inko tried to get to know why everyone was so cruel to the shy farmer until the two teenagers got the answers they wanted…letting them think it would’ve been better to never know it at all. It happened during a summer day, after revolting enough resources to sell them on th public market, the two boys decided to change their minds by hanging out in their favorite spot.

This place was isolated enough to avoid the critics of annoying shadows who had nothing to do except gossip about false rumors, no matter the topic. The green-haired boy was seen sitting on the floor with a stick of wood, explaining another one of his plans for the future he wanted to build under the attentive eyes of his childhood friend. Katsuki have always been this supporting figure in his life, reminding him about how love could take different forms and share different meanings.

“-I don’t really want to stay here and need to discover the world, like the amazing stories the book recited, and that comforted my nights as a child,” the freckled boy explained with a smile, putting his knees closer to his chest. He turned his head to meet the soft expression on the blond’s face, wondering if he should directly ask what was crossing Katsuki’s mind, but he was afraid to hear truths that would hurt him. After all, there was no way the blond could share a mutual interest in a romantic relationship. “They’re still watching us, right ?”

Katsuki noticed how the farmer whispered his last sentence, almost like he refused to get caught in this embarrassing situation. As much as he loved standing by the blond’s side, he couldn’t help but feel pressure at being publicly exposed to the cruel gossip around his name. He wished someone had enough courage to tell him what was happening behind his back, leaving his worries to take the lead in most of his thoughts.

“Like their shitty parents, they’re here to create more mess than peace,” the taller figure objected with an exhausted sigh. “I’ll teach them a good lesson.”

Indeed, the blond doesn’t give a shit about people being desirous of him and gossiping behind his back, but his last straw was when their repercussions had a physical effect on his best friend! His eyes caught a few times some scars that weren’t here in the first place and only appeared once the bullying started in town. He tried to be there for the greenette, but Izuku lied straight into his eyes with his fake smile, knowing this wouldn’t work with someone as perspective as Katsuki Bakugo.

“Kacchan you shouldn’t-” Izuku tried to stop his best friend from doing something he’d regret, but knowing the blond, each of his actions was either justified by misunderstanding or genuine feelings.

Indeed, in the blink of an eye, his childhood friend was already walking toward the other teenagers who had the audacity to publicly mock the nerd. Izuku knew he should stop this mess, but he wanted to see if the neighborhood kids would give them the hints the farmers were desperately looking for. Against his will, the shorter boy forced himself to walk faster to reach his best friend, facing the cold glances on the other's face. At first sight, it seemed like they were disgusted by Izuku’s presence, forcing him to hide behind the blond’s back.

“I heard you had a good time talking shit behind our back, so why are you silenced all of a sudden? We all know I'm not a patient guy, so the faster you tell us what you know about the gossip, the better it’ll be for you, bastards,” the taller figure threatened with a serious tone, crossing his arms against his chest and revealing the anger rising inside his chest. If there was one thing he despite the most, it was the fuckers who had no courage to assume the consequences of their actions, especially when the target was the person he cared about.

The two teenagers shared a gaze, realizing how there was no way to escape. If it was easy to complain about Izuku Midoriya’s existence, it was the opposite with Katsuki Bakugo. Everyone knew how close the two farmers were, and using Izuku as their main target imply facing the blond’s holding back his punch when someone was playing with his nerves.

“You shouldn’t pretend you don’t know your implication in the rumor, after all, you’re the one who participated in this crazy idea,” Haruki corrected with a bitter tone, looking straight into the crimson eyes and letting them know how his innocent game was enough. “You’re playing the white knight, but how long are you going to pretend to be innocent ?”

“Don’t reverse the roles and spill it out before I'll give a justified punch that’ll let your shitty mother think you’ve been into another fight. I already know the restriction she gave you, and you have embarrassed her so many times…” The blond claimed with a dark tone, noticing how Haruki’s eyes went wide. Shit, he needed to blame his mother for explaining her life to everyone, especially Mitsuki and Masaru Bakugo! A glance was shared with his friend, who decided to take the lead in the conversation and have the other’s back.

“You should be the one ashamed about what you’ve done,” Akio pointed out with a death glare. “From all the people you’ve wanted, you decided to choose him, but what can I say you two are sluts for each other. No wonder why Midoriya got syphilis, some whispers even say it’s gonorrhea. Aren’t you ashamed to stare at yourself in the mirror every morning and know you’ve slept with a whore-”

The sound of a sudden punch made everyone jump at the impact of the attack and how it almost knocked down the teenager who looked so confident a few seconds ago. Katsuki was controlled by the idea of giving the justice his childhood friend needed, making sure the atrocities he hard would be taken down in this asshole’s grave. Katsuki Bakugo was known for being reactive when someone was mocking or cursing Izuku’s name, especially with this shitty gaze in their faces, almost like they were on the right.

“What the fuck- You’re completely nuts !” Akio shouted back with a death glare, checking on his friend. Blood falling from his nose could be seen by the most curious eyes, who walked to the scene after hearing the loud shout coming from the teenagers. It was none of their business, and still…the strangers dared to be shocked and immediately rushed on the extra who played with the blond’s nerves, acting like he was the victim.

“He went too far and disrespected us, he needed to have a good lesson about how he shouldn’t mess up with me,” Katsuki threatened, holding his fist as the previous curse kept replaying inside his mind. Not only did he have the answers to his question, but this asshole dared to call the boy he loved by a degrading name, and this was his final straw. He didn’t mind having rumors spreading around about how he and Izuku slept together, it was common in most of the town with people their age, but it was his last straw.  “The next time, don’t you dare call him such degrading names, or I'll make sure to let you know what death feels like.”

“You can’t threaten his life before he repeats some rumors spreading around,” another teenager added, defending the guy with a bloody nose and mark on his face. “Maybe the only reason why you’re so offended is because it’s based on a true event, and you regret each of your choices. It’s a well-known fact that no one would ever be interested in Midoriya, you just pity him-”

“You can disrespect my name but take Izuku away from this mess that some asshole created because he got rejected. You’re all a piece of shit, and the next one I see talking bad about him or us, I'll make sure to put my threat into action,” the blond assured with a dark glance, staring around at the horrified expressions on the other's face.

He was sure everyone would know about this twist tonight and make the gossip worse, but he would rather have a downfall than see the freckled boy owning all this pain inside his shattered soul. Irritation started to rise inside his chest, ready to fight back against the stranger's gaze and call him crazy, but shaking hands ruffled the fabric of his shirt. The gesture brought him back to the reality where the nerd had been there the entire time, listening to each conversation, but decided to stay silent. Knowing him, this only meant the nerd was about to have a breakdown anytime soon: The best option was to leave as soon as possible, refusing to let the others mock about a moment of vulnerability.

The shaking fingers held the blond’s shirt closer, and Katsuki didn’t even think twice before turning around and grabbing the farmer’s hands gently, trying to not scare him. Izuku followed him, trying to process what just happened: His heart wanted to melt at the reassuring touch offered by his childhood friend and how the blond took his defense, but his soul was broken into millions of pieces. This trust he tried to build in the past years ended up erased by some stupid lies made by pure jealousy, ruining not only his but Katsuki’s life! It would explain why everyone was looking at him as if he was a caged animal exposed to the most vicious spirits this town had ever known. If he was a witch, he would be burned for even thinking about something as sinful as intimacy, but being a male omega wasn't in his favor.

His fingers held the warmth tighter, realizing how he was stupid for giving his naivety to people who were mentally abused and took advantage of this situation to degrade him. He was known as the sweetheart of the town but became a head to execute the moment he betrayed their virtues. The blond stopped in their run, alone in those woods that welcomed their innocent interaction years ago. His heart missed a beat, turning around to face the shaking farmer holding his breath. Katsuki wasn’t stupid and realized how intense this situation was when tears fell down this porcelain skin blessed by the gods.

Izuku didn’t even try to hide his pain, transforming a slight gasp into sobs. The heartrending call for help echoed in the entire forest, being grateful to be away from the vultures who already destroyed everything. His vision became blurry, and his messy curls immediately found the blond’s chest, fingers holding tighter into the other’s warmth like he was afraid to let him go.

“None of these bastards deserve your tears,” the blond whispered, holding the farmer as close as possible. The freckled man didn’t wait too long before releasing a loud sob covered by the fabric of the other’s shirt, releasing all the intense emotions he felt until now, being thankful to have someone as supportive as his childhood friend to keep an eye on him.

“I didn’t know,” Izuku mumbled in his beard, trying to control his breath, but realized how stupid it was to pretend he wasn’t affected by what he just heard earlier. “It’s unfair…The only thing I wanted was recognition, and they all treated me like a monster.  I can’t even considerate the fact that my own mother will be aware of such lies and-”

“Izuku, look at me,” the blond’s voice whimpered to his ears, and cupping the porcelain skin ruined by the tears. Izuku Midoriya had always been this impressive presence in his life, a mystery to solve and a mesmerizing painting to admire. He couldn’t help but feel destroyed by the sight of those beautiful colors fading away, being replaced by darker shades that would probably consume his thorns. “What they did was shitty, just like the asshole who started this rumor for revenge. This world is unfair to the purest souls like yours, but this doesn’t mean you’re not worth fighting: I know that the person they describe is a reflection of their biggest flaws, and we should teach them how they underestimate us.”

“But you’ve heard them,” fought back the farmer with a desperate glance, stepping away from the previous touch. Katsuki watched with pain his childhood friend sitting on the wooden log, wiping away his own tears and looking into the crimson eyes as if he were begging for help. “It’ll be impossible to change the narrative if it’s the two of us against the entire town. Everyone already chose their side and considered me like a who-”

“Don’t you dare call yourself like that,” Katsuki confided, rushing on his knees to rest in front of the teary eyes. “Curses like these should be forbidden from escaping from such beautiful lips like yours. You shouldn't be defined by what others think of you, letting them have an advantage and putting you six feet underground. You started this journey on your own and still have a lot of shit to face, but this doesn’t mean giving up is the best option.”

“Can’t you see how it’s impossible ?” Izuku shouted back, this time letting the words escape from his lips without even realizing what he was saying. “Your support isn’t enough to shut down the voices in my heart telling me how this is all my fault. I should’ve faced them sooner and fought back instead of letting them gain ground and step on my last hint of hope.”

“What are you even saying,” Katsuki questioned with a broken tone, putting his hands on the shaking arms to slowly grab them and reach the brushed wrist. He hated this show where he was only a spectator of the nerd’s suffering he handled for too long between his fake smiles and wished he could kill everyone who had the nerve to bring tears to this beautiful face. “Your feelings are valid and fear justified, but they don’t define you. Trust me, I’ll need more than that to give up on you: I’ve seen you growing up, and each time I look into your eyes, I recognize the same nerd who welcomed me in his life when everyone was treating me like a plague.”

“It was years ago, things changed, and it’s a question of time before you realize how right they were,” the farmer objected with a sad tone, trying to convince himself that he didn’t deserve this support. “Sometimes I wonder if it would be better if I was out of this world and-”

“If you finish this sentence, I’m going to give you a good reminder about how stupid you are,” Katsuki shortened, this time with a tone that implied how he was holding back his tears.

Izuku’s eyes widened at the realization, trying to process the multiple emotions passing through his chest. It was the first time the farmer had seen his best friend in such a state, almost like the blond offered all his vulnerabilities on a silver plate as a last attempt.

“You have no idea how a world without you sounds like a worse fate than death. The last years we've been apart made me realize how I wouldn't exchange each of your glances and smiles for nothing in the world. If only you could see yourself the way I see you, maybe you’ll realize how you’re more than just a name but a soul to cherish. Don’t let anyone take away from you this charm that was able to catch everyone’s heart and make them fall in love with you.”

Izuku listened carefully to the farmer’s speech, realizing how this was the heart-to-heart talk they always needed. All those years of hidden insecurities and misunderstanding ended up being expressed in a heartbreaking topic, unconsciously revealing this fragile bond they wanted to keep secret. However, the freckled boy felt his heart shattered at the sight of crimson, teary eyes staring at him as if he were afraid of losing his world.

“Kacchan, we both know how unlovable I am,” the teenager whimpered with a serious tone, putting his hands on the blond’s cheeks to cup his skin in gentle movements. “I’m 16 and don’t know anything about how to properly take care of my loved ones. I already lost you and keep regretting my actions every single day. How am I able to let someone stay by my side, especially after the rumors about me getting std ?”

Katsuki knew how to fix this situation, even if it required a lot of courage. Don’t get him wrong, he knew that there was a chance to be rejected, but he didn’t mind releasing this burden away from his shoulder and seeing if his feelings were mutual. The taller boy took a deep breath and sat next to the freckled figure, who looked at him with despair. The entire time, Izuku considered himself an unlovable person when it was the opposite: Everything in his soul was beautiful, from the way he was passionate about things to the delightful expression that erased all the blond’s worries.

“Don’t listen to their bullshit, I’ll take the blame if this means keeping you safe,” he said, catching the surprised expression on the farmer’s face.

Izuku was smart and seemed to already understand the meaning behind the chosen words, raising a slight blush on his cheeks when the calloused hands wrapped around the shaking ones as a sign of encouragement.

“You’ve always been a sensitive person, and I knew one of these days the world could be cruel and return this against you, but you’re stronger than that. Izuku, you don’t even realize how impressive you are when you’re achieving another success, leaving others breathless with your strength. I have millions of confessions to share, but none would be enough to fit in this lifetime…but trust me on my words when I said that you can be saved and loved.”

“You’re not even sure if I'll be a good partner, and why would I even try? The world already hates me and considers my body as an object. Am I naive to think I could escape overnight ?” The green-haired figure pointed out with a sigh, considering this as the only way to escape from this hell. For the moment, he was underage and couldn’t do things without his mother’s permission, and Katsuki’s support wouldn’t last a long time: One of these days, the farmer would see how fucked up the freckled boy was and would leave him like everyone else did in his surrounding.

“If you want to run away, you better take me on this journey because there’s no way I’m leaving you behind, freckles,” the blond explained with a soft tone, letting his fingers cup the delicate cheeks, wiping away his tears.

“You’re much more than just a body, and fuck the assholes who consider you that way. Izuku Midoriya, you have no idea how your presence is considered a blessing in my life since you decided to give me a second chance. Seeing you alive is my biggest pride, but I would like to see you trust in yourself and how amazing you are. You don’t need to have extras’ opinions to have the confirmation that you’re worth fighting. There’s not a single day where I don’t look at you and think about how you’re the strongest person I’ve ever seen. If you think you’re unable to find love, you should probably search around and see how the answer might be closer than you think.”

Oh.

Izuku’s heart missed a beat at the sudden realization that hit him like a slap in the face. He wanted to believe that all the signs he had previously seen were the results of his imagination, but the previous speech showed him the opposite. Seeing a supportive Katsuki was touching, but hearing such affectionate words escaping his lips was unbelievable! The entire time, Izuku Midoriya was pretending to hide his feelings for his best friend, being afraid of ruining their relationship…Only to hear that it was a mutual admiration. This scenario came straight from a fever dream, letting the emerald eyes notice the blush on his cheeks.

“Stop putting yourself aside your own happiness, and let me share your pain by taking away this burden on your vulnerable shoulders. If there’s someone able to recognize each of your expressions and guess your thoughts, it should be me…but you still surprise me by showing how you’re still owning a part of my soul since the first time we met,” confessed the blond with a soft tone, letting his fingers play with the lost curls to put it behind the other’s ears, catching how breathless the farmer was. “To my knowledge, giving up have never been one of your options, no matter the fight awaiting you, and it might be probably one of the reasons why I fell for you. Did you have any idea about how many times I called your name in the middle of the night, expecting to see your face after a nightmare? Are you even aware of how my parents are tired of hearing about you and begged me to confess, but my fear of losing you and our friendship was too strong, leading me to make the biggest mistake of my life.”

“Kacchan…”

“We both know there’s no Deku without Kacchan, and this time I want to be by your side from another angle. I take the risk of facing rejection, but I think this is the right time to confess how you’ve always been the one catching my heart since the beginning. They can try to take away my love from you, but it’ll only make it stronger: I have no regret telling you how I fell in love with Izuku Midoriya for his amazing qualities and flaws I want to cherish.”

The farmer was glad he found enough courage to confess, but one glance with the nerd and he noticed how Izuku was trying to process the twist that caught him off guard: His heart knew it was a reality, but his reason wanted to think this was a fever dream come true. All those wasted tears and begging for help in an uncomfortable silence ended up being erased by the overwhelming happiness filling his chest.

This day was probably the craziest of his life, but he had no regrets about expressing out loud his breakdown and hearing the love confession he always needed. This scene was too good to be true, but he decided to reply to the blond’s courage by intertwining their fingers together, offering some ease to the hesitant crimson irises. The farmer decided to take the lead and let his lips meet the other’s knuckles, admiring the scarlet color rising on his cheeks.

“I’ve always wondered why I was tempted by your addictive aura, acting like a forbidden fruit we could only admire from afar. I tend to think people are mean to find each other for a reason, and our tale was intended decades ago by our ancestors. Your eyes are telling me so many truths that your lips can’t whisper yet, and your face is as breathtaking as a sketch made by the artist who fell in love with its muse,” the freckled boy confessed with a gentle tone. “I’ve tried to replicate the authenticity of our bond with strangers, but none feel the same, leading me to the realization that you’re the only one able to make me feel that way. Falling in love with you is like reading a tale you’ve loved as a kid and discovering each detail more impressively, able to make you fall a second time.”

“Wait…Do you mean-”

“Yes,” Izuku made a genuine smile that caught the blond breathless. “I fell for you when love was a myth, but when our eyes met for the first time, you taught me how it was a reality. I’ve been waiting years to express these words out loud, but I love you too, Katsuki Bakugo.

It happened in a few seconds, but none refused the ultimate proof of their mutual devotion. Izuku’s lips found the blond’s in a gentle movement, uncertain about sharing his first kiss with someone probably already more experienced than him. All his worries faded away when the Katsuki’s lips started to chase after his with the same hesitation, explaining everything the farmer needed to know: After all, they were each other’s first. The green-haired boy’s hands lost themselves in the golden, spiky hair, sensing a fire consuming his chest and releasing all the euphoria he needed to hand on a little longer in this happy ending. Their eyes closed themselves, losing in the natural movement of the mouth, searching for each secret belonging to their significant other. The strong hands held the smaller waist, bringing the nerd closer as their forehead found each other and eyes met in a tender gaze.

“Our families gonna kill us after the mess you’ve done today,” teased the greenette with a light chuckle, resting his head against the other’s chest. Their fingers intertwined, realizing how there was actually something good happening in their lives, especially in this shitty town.

“If it gives us an excuse to run away from this shitty town and, I don’t mind starting from zero with you, freckles,” the blond assured with a grin, knowing how his childhood friend rolled his eyes at his comment. Their two figures stayed endless minutes in this comfortable position, realizing how being each other’s first was also considered a blessing for the bond they tried to keep alive for so long.

One thing was sure: Izuku and Katsuki couldn’t wait to start this new chapter together.

—--

2 years later,

The sunrises that used to color the sky with their brightest corners ended up being a familiar landscape. Two years had passed since the love confession the childhood friends shared in a moment of vulnerability that transformed their lives into a crazy journey.

Many things changed: people died from an incurable illness, the war took many innocent lives, and familiar faces started to fade away from the scene. Many murmurs in the streets started at them explicitly showing their affection with “offending” gestures such as holding hands or sharing whispers. If their young self used to be worried about the tenacity of shitty rumors like the one concerning Izuku and Katsuki’s inexistent sexual life, it slowly disappeared through the years.

Indeed, the freckled man never had to speak his truths out loud, knowing the one who started it had a stronger impact than his small words. After all, the green-haired man was a farmer and a nobody, another shadow to forget as time was taking away lives for a selfish game. Each day, the two childhood friends prayed to stay by their significant other’s side, hoping the illness wouldn’t take them first.

New moonlight colored their night with different shades of navy blue and jet black. The shining stars highlighted the two shadows residing on the roof, talking about their plan of escaping once they reach their majority. The idea never left Izuku’s mind, especially during their long exchange about their future projects, where no one would know their names and reputations. Staying here for the rest of their lives would kill them from the inside, and Katsuki naturally agreed with the idea of following his boyfriend in each of his crazy plans.

In all honestly, the blond wanted to leave as soon as possible.

The rumors about Izuku and him being intimate spread all around the town and ruined their lives for a few months. Their parents got immediately worried when they heard what happened after their public argument, defending them against the most vicious spirits. Izuku had a hard time adjusting to the idea of revenge but noticed how the judgemental glance from the people who previously criticized them slowly transformed into envy.

At this moment, the farmer understood that the reason for this rumor’s existence in the first place was pure jealousy. Makoto got rejected and bated to make a public affair, but his plans turned against him when this situation brought the lovers closer than ever. Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo were still haunting this place that created the best but worst memories of a life they wanted to put aside. Don’t get them wrong, they informed their families about this project and had their approval! Yet, it was hard to project into a future where the people who raised them with love would be out of reach.

If Mitsuki and Masaru were ready to support each of this project…Inko shared a different opinion. Each time she was looking into her son’s eyes, she was facing the newborn she held in her arms, realizing how time flies in the blink of an eye. The blond always adored the tender dynamic between the nerd and his mom, hoping that one day, the couple would have their own family and share the same endless life with their legacy.

For the moment, the couple wanted to focus on their current project: creating their own story. The narrative have been switching numerous amount of times, but this made their bond stronger. The very first argument Izuku and Katsuki had was about a meaningless thing, once again, their insecurities took the lead. The realization appeared like a slap in the face, promising themselves to never repeat their past mistakes. Keeping each other safe was their main priority, even if the reputation built by the rumors was inked in time by the ghost’s whispers.

Falling in love with Katsuki was dangerous and intoxicating, the kind of addiction you can’t get rid of. It remained the same sentiment, giving you the impression of being alive in each delicate touch, being a reminder about how praise could be seen as a blessing to your ears, even in the most intimate moments. Izuku Midoriya wouldn’t mind shouting to the neighborhood how his sentiments for his childhood friend were authentic. The more he was staring into those crimson rises, the more he was falling for this man who offered him everything he wanted in a silver plate.

Katsuki’s love was blissful.

The blond was a man of action and wouldn’t hesitate to throw gentle affection instead of promises that would fade through the years. He didn’t need to pretend when he was feeling down, remembering how his boyfriend was here to cheer him up with his heartwarming smile. Izuku’s skin was now covered with scars due to many incidents happening during their chores, transforming this fragile skin into a source of praise for the blond. There wasn’t any day where Katsuki wasn’t stealing a quick kiss in the scars exposed at his sight, welcoming a scarlet color on his cheeks.

“Do you remember this time when people tried to tear us down for their selfish pleasure and ego ?” Izuku asked, resting his head on the other’s lap. He felt the strong fingers playing with his messy curls, giving him chills. It was a comfortable autumn evening, as the sky reflected his prettiest shades, catching the most curious eyes in this beautiful show.  “They were pretty creative with hindsight.”

“Thinking about the past will give you rumble, freckles,” the blond teased, hearing a low chuckle from the freckled man. He couldn’t help but mesmerize the tender expression on the nerd’s face, admiring how prettier he looked every time their eyes met. ”But thought we agreed to never mention that again….What’s going on ?”

“I’m just thinking,” the shorter man answered with a smile. Without any complaints, Izuku sat on the farmer’s lap, putting his hands behind the other’s neck, a spot he knew perfectly. “Back in the day, we were too young to even confirm the idea of making it a reality, but I bet we changed our mind, right ?”

“Getting syphilis and gonorrhea? The hell is wrong with you, Deku-” exclaimed the golden-haired man with confusion. Izuku couldn’t help but find this situation amusing, deciding to play the flirty game a little longer to see how cute and flustered Katsuki was.

“That’s not what I mean, idiot,” he assured with a chuckle, pushing his shoulder before looking straight into his eyes. This angle altered each sight into a breathless painting, where a simple glance could be transformed into a work of art. Izuku was the exception to the rules, being already enchanting on its own, but the shades gave the impression of facing an angel fallen from the sky to guide the farmer’s fate. “Aren’t you curious sometimes about the other side of our relationship? Something we never explored yet, but that sounds tempting every time you look at me with that gaze.”

“Tell me more,” the strong hands slowly found their way into the freckled man’s waist, ruffling the fabric of his shirt. Emerald eyes glanced at him with a smirk residing at the corner of his lips, making a slight move in the other’s lap to let his intention be understood.

“You’ve always been so sweet and gentle with me, even on my worst day,” Izuku admitted, putting his arms around his boyfriend’s neck. “I feel bad for not rewarding you. Do you have a special request in mind, love? Don’t try to lie, your body is betraying each of your thoughts.”

Katsuki wished he could fight back, but he started to enter the tempting game offered by his boyfriend. He wouldn’t mind taking this step in their relationship, knowing how they trust each other enough to see the lost, hidden part of their bodies, the untouched ones. Yet, the blond wanted to make things right and be sure his lover was confident about this new experience.

“I wouldn’t mind being yours for an entire night, but are you ready for such discoveries? I know we can take our time and make sure to find the right moment to show how much we care about each other,“ the blond replied, sensing his caring emerald eyes softened at his comment.

“Kacchan, it’s always been you in the first place,” the green-haired man assured with a smile, kissing the farmer’s forehead. “I want to be yours and shut every cruel mouth down, only if you’re comfortable with us being each other’s first time.”

“I’m all ears for new changes, but aren’t you afraid it’ll be…bad?” the golden-haired man mumbled with a stressed tone, welcoming the gentle scarred hands on his skin, cupping his cheeks. The emerald eyes were full of tenderness and warmth, realizing how both men could’ve spent an entire lifetime together.

“I don’t mind if it’s bad or not, as long as you claim me as yours for one night, I’ll make sure to return the favor,” Izuku assured, ruffling the spiky hair. “The only one I need by my side is you. You’re my everything in each of my projects, and make sure tonight we’ll let the ghost of this town talk about what brought us closer.“

“Without the syphilis and gonorrhea ?” The taller man asked, sliding his hands under his boyfriend’s shirt to feel the heated skin. Izuku held his breath at the sudden sensation, stealing a gentle kiss in exchange.

“Without the syphilis and gonorrhea, love,” the freckled man replied with a laugh that echoed like a melody to the farmer’s ears.

Emerald eyes met the crimson ones and read how this mutual happiness would be replaced by a more unrestrained feeling soon. Their bodies moved on their own, hands intertwining as their shadows skipped from the roof to the blond’s bed. Katsuki was grateful to know his parents were out of reach for today, selling their old products in the market to have a few pennies.

“Are we really doing this ?” The freckled man asked with excitement and dress, making a genuine smile at the taller figure. It was more like a confirmation than a real question waiting for an answer.  Katsuki knew he had made a good choice by listening to his heart instead of his reason.

“We’re doing this,” the farmer confirmed, letting his lips meet the sensitive skin of his boyfriend, making sure to let him be more comfortable. “My parents are out of reach for a few hours, and the house is all ours,” he added with a gentle tone, listening to the soft breath escaping the other’s lips. “I’m all yours, and you’re all mine, sweetheart.”

Izuku closed his eyes and let the overwhelming pleasure take control of his thoughts and body. During a moment that passed way too fast to his taste, the freckled man let him be guided by the dangerous tricks of the man he lived. He wouldn’t mind being his target, especially if this meant showing him a more intimate aspect of their relationship.

“Make love to me,” the shorter man begged, authorizing the strong hands and fingers to take away his clothes. Izuku wouldn’t mind losing himself in the upcoming fireworks inside his chest. “Claim me, make me yours forever, show them how wrong they were to underestimate us.”

It didn’t take long to feel how the impact of those words transformed the desperate alpha into a gentle lover. Izuku’s request was more than evident, and the nerd claimed out loud how he needed to be mated on this fateful evening. The couple shared this conversation a few times in the past, mentioning the idea of making it come true at a meaningful moment in their lives. None would have guessed that a naive promise would happen under such circumstances, but the couple knew it was the right thing to do.

Before realizing it, clothes found the flood, and Izuku’s back meets the sheet. His sensitive skin was cherished by each of his boyfriend’s kisses and praises lost in their heavy gasp. The scars on the farmer’s arms were adored, melting the green-haired man’s heart, which held back his tears. He couldn’t imagine spending such an intimate moment with someone else, not when the love of his life had been standing under his eyes since the beginning. Crimson's eyes stared into the emerald ones with a tempting glance, making Izuku blush and release a few unknown melodies out of his mouth.

The two shadows could be seen sharing their first connection, where all promises made sense in a unique sensation of finding peace by making one with each other. Their fingers intertwined, and gentle kisses were spread all over the freckle's skin. Until now, he denied all his inner omega’s requests, being afraid to put too much pressure on his boyfriend, but it felt right to be himself for once.

Without realizing it, Izuku Midoriya fell in love with Katsuki Bakugo a second time.

He was addicted to the delicate touch on his porcelain skin, noticing how the blond was taking care of him in a unique way by transforming each insecurity into a blurry memory. The blond’s name naturally escapes the freckled man’s lips, almost like he refused to leave this dream come true. However, Katsuki wasn’t naive and aware of how his boyfriend needed reassurance: Between two kisses and another confession, he decided to seal their fate.

Blood mixed with sweet scent and sweat on their skin, but the bond they cherished for so long became one. As painful as it seemed, the uncomfortable sensation was quickly erased by the familiar scent reaching their noses. The two men were pretty sure the bedroom smelled like sex, but they decided to ignore it on purpose to stay a little longer in their happiness. Scarred hands cupped the blond’s cheeks in gentle movement, staring at his boyfriend with the same smile that caught the farmer’s heart so many times.

“I love you,“ the shorter man whispered, regaining his breath. Katsuki naturally led into the gesture, enjoying how lucky he was to spend the rest of his life with someone as supportive as Izuku Midoriya. In the end, everyone wanted to have a statue of those tempting eyes, but only his childhood won this fight, even if this victory was already abolished by the nerd years ago.

“Love you too, freckles,” the taller man confessed to his mate’s ears, making the omega giggle. “I bet these fuckers have something to gossip about now.”

The two of them stayed in this position until their bodies gave the signal to get some rest, focusing on each other’s warmth. Izuku’s head found the blond’s chest, his fingers drawing circles on the marked skin. Katsuki welcomed the gesture, caressing the messy curls, realizing how cray their journey had been.

The sound of a wide door unlocking itself resonated downstairs, informing how Mitsuki and Masaru returned home. Izuku and Katsuki shared a stressed glance, understanding how they might’ve underestimated the intensity of the scent released during their first time. The shorter man held his breath, hiding behind his boyfriend’s shoulder, like this spot would save him from embarrassment coloring his cheeks.

“What the- Katsuki Bakugo, we need to talk,” Mitsuki’s voice shouted from afar.

On first impression, it looked like the woman was mad at her son, but she was more than happy to know that her brat finally concluded with his libido. Yet, this doesn’t exclude him from intoxicating the entire house!

——-

The due date for their escape was getting closer, leaving a bunch of questions residing at the tip of their mouths. After dreaming about escaping this shitty town for so many years, their biggest project will come true…and this time, they weren’t alone.

The conversation they shared with their families after seeing their secret revealed and evident mating mark was uncomfortable. They were adults and knew how to protect themselves, even in such a thing as intimacy! Yet, this doesn’t stop them from cherishing the warmth of their skin, remembering the heated feelings shared on this fateful evening. Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo remained the center of attention until their departure, realizing how they couldn’t wait to start all over again.

“What are you thinking about, nerd ?” The familiar voice caught the farmer’s attention.

Izuku’s face turned around to meet the crimson irises he could recognize everywhere, even in a crowd of thousands of people. The fresh wind was ruffling the farmer’s forehead, taking away the previous sweat and moving lost curls. His gaze softened after seeing his boyfriend’s presence, sitting beside him on the roof. From here, the view was stunning, with thousands of hectares belonging to their ancestors…the same ones the couple were about to leave in a few hours.  If Izuku was excited to spend the rest of his life with his childhood friend, another was nostalgic for all the memories created there.

“Nothing,” the greenette assured with a smile, welcoming the calloused fingers at the palm of his hands. “I can recall the numerous times when I cursed the world to release me from this hell…looks like the gods heard my prayers.”

“If you’re considering my existence with such a humble title, I might think you’re trying to flirt with me, Deku,” Katsuki teased, listening to the soft melody echoing in his ears. Izuku’s laugh always worked like a charm to seduce the purest souls meeting the nerd’s path, but today, the blond was more than happy to be the one facing this song until his last breath.

“You and your self-confidence will lead you to the wrong path one day, be careful darling,” the green-haired man objected, resting his head against the blond’s shoulder. This landscape looks peaceful enough to whisper its last goodbye. The two figures stayed a little longer in their peace, holding hands like kids chasing after each other. “Isn’t it crazy to think about how we’re going to have blurry memories in this haunted city? I always wanted to be someone unforgettable in history, but being a shadow between the others doesn’t sound too bad.”

“It’s a question of time before being replaced. Time will naturally erase our existence, but I’ll make sure to let the world know about our love,” Katsuki affirmed, letting his fingers intertwine with the scarred ones tighter. “How do you feel about tomorrow ?”

Oh.

Lost in his mind, the farmer didn’t even notice how close he was to saying goodbye to his mother, the only family member he loved more than himself. It was the same woman who taught him how love can differ from one another, leading her son to meet the person who became the center of his entire existence.

“I don’t know, but it’s a good sensation,” Izuku softly explained. “I thought I was doomed to live a boring life in this godforsaken hole, but you proved me wrong. Life doesn’t always apply to your existence in a place that’ll easily forget you…but the idea of feeling something.” He turned around, looking at the crimson eyes inspired by his speech. Gentle hands cupped the blond’s cheeks, and emerald eyes caught the mating mark on the alpha’s neck. “You taught me how to love and feel so many sensations that I’ll never think I’ll experience one day. I’ll miss my mom for sure, but I know staying by your side is the best thing to do, especially when you’re my idea of a happy ending.”

Katsuki found himself blushing like a teenager after this touching confession. The scarlet color heated his skin, making the shorter figure chuckle at the cute sight under his eyes. There were some moments like this one when a simple glance could translate thousands of promises.

“As long as I can escape from their shitty faces, but we can eventually write to Auntie Inko and my parents if this makes you feel better,” the taller man added, punching the farmer’s nose and catching the scarlet on his freckled cheeks.

In the past, he would’ve prevented himself from confessing how beautiful the nerd looked. This time, he learned his lesson and decided to bring his lips to the freckled man’s forehead for a light kiss, hearing the low breathing escaping from the other’s lips.

“That’s all? You prepared me for better treatment, Kacchan,” the farmer teased with a chuckle, putting his arms around his boyfriend’s neck. Their eyes met, and chills spread through their bodies, understanding how this teasing game was a reflection of their desire. “I might think you’ll start to fade out of love…”

“You’re the one complaining when you’ve already given me a few heart attacks each time your eyes met mine, it feels unfair to me,” the taller figure replied, bringing him closer by putting his hand around the smaller’s waist. “But I can make an exception for you if you let me.”

“I wouldn’t mind, love,” the shorter man affirmed with a delightful voice, putting enough energy to be shut down by a sudden kiss.

The sensation in their guts felt the same burning breath that consumed each of their movements, reminding them of the first time they agreed to break their boundaries. Their two lips chased after each other in delicate movements, releasing a soft smile before Izuku took the lead and deepened it. Each touch remained the same as their first time, even if they’d already seen the lost hidden part of each other’s bodies that claimed as theirs. Heavy breaths were exchanged, but an overwhelming joy filled their chest, holding each other like there was no tomorrow.

Eventually, the two had to regain their breath, looking at their mate without an ounce of regret. This journey started in the most unexpected ways, with thousands of wasted tears belonging to those lost woods. The two childhood friends still had a lot of issues to fix and insecurities to reassure, but their fate was in good hands. This future the couple wanted to protect was safe in the palm of their hands, watching it grow until their dying days.

“Thanks for everything,” the shorter figure confessed, holding back his tears.

Izuku was simply confessing how he was grateful to experience love after being haunted by his family’s reputation. The taller man naturally replied with a grin, holding the omega closer to his chest. Izuku’s head rested against the tuneful melody that was Katsuki’s heartbeat, trusting this promise of eternal love.

After all, maybe the childhood friends wouldn’t fade away from the landscape…but when their heartwarming stories were already spread by the gossip of the wind to the tree’s leaf.

——

After their final goodbye, the two shadows agreed to meet in the same spot where their story started.

It might seem meaningless, but their souls knew how much this particular spot was the perfect place to start this new chapter. After all, their first meeting happened out of nowhere, almost like fate was guiding them in the right direction. Years later, the two children decided to take the opposite path to their house.

The frecked man was the first one to arrive until the sound of footsteps caught his attention, pretending to be surprised when the reassuring figure of his boyfriend was reaching out for him. They both agreed to take enough money and resources to survive during their trip, being excited by the idea of starting a new life together.

“I thought you’d never come,” Izuku teased, sensing how the strong fingers held his warmth tighter. He didn’t need to ask how his boyfriend was feeling, remembering how emotional his goodbyes were with his mom.

“I wouldn’t play such a trick,” Katsuki decreed, putting his arms around the farmer’s shoulders. The greenette sighed in relief: From now on, it was their two shadows discovering new landscapes and letting the Clearcove town die with the wasted tears of Deku and Kacchan. “Are you ready? You know there’s no return point, whatever your choice, I’ll support you.”

“Sometimes your eyes betray your thoughts when it comes to loving me,” he pointed out, letting his lips kiss the blond’s knuckle. There was so much admiration and gratitude in the emerald irises, forcing Katsuki to put his stubbornness aside and welcome the overwhelming peace rising inside his chest.

Under another circumstance, the two figures would’ve been doubtful about doing this on their own, but fate brought them together for a reason. Izuku and Katsuki naively believe in soulmates, especially with unbreakable bonds like theirs. Escaping with each other was the best solution if they wanted to avoid a terrible life in this town that already shattered a part of their soul.

“Tell me, do you have any idea where we’re going ?” the taller man asked with a grin, ready towelcoùe the unknown.

“I don’t, but it’s the most interesting part: Getting lost on purpose, facing new cultures and traditions, and meeting new people. If something goes wrong, I know my white knight would be there to have my back, am I right ?” The green-haired man teased with a smirk, holding his boyfriend’s hands tighter.

“Then take the lead, I follow you, nerd,” he concluded, stealing a quick kiss and listening to the rumbling of the man he loved…the one offering a chance to live a unique journey.

Their footsteps faded away from this place that already knew each of their secrets, letting them die with the whispers spread by the wind. The sunlight colored their faces, heating their exposed skin and clothes as their voices resonated in the silence, acting like two children discovering a new tree house with crazy adventures to complete.
