Work Text:
I might not look like it, but I actually really enjoy romance. Kisses in the rain, valentine’s day, impossible relationships, all tropes that I’m a big fan of, Komaeda even recommended some pretty good novels about these to me. But honestly, who doesn’t? I think you have to be really bitter in order to not love love. Oh shit, that sounded corny.
- I don’t want to leave my room Hajime. I refuse to. I’m going to go on a hunger strike until the divorce papers get signed. - Or, you have to be Kazuichi. This seems to work too.
- Goddammit. Are you really that much of a bastard that you are going to try to ruin Sonia’s wedding? That’s way too low, even for you. - Fuyuhiko said, looking like a headache was spiraling on his forehead.
- You guys don’t seem to understand do you? Look, how am I supposed to live a beautiful love story when the only woman I love is getting married today!? It’s not like there are many women still alive after the goddamned apocalypse that Junko pulled off.
- Calm down Kazuichi, I’m sure you’re not dying a virgin.
- Yeah, I bet that Teruteru is willing to do it with anyone who asks him. - I… Half-joked? I mean, it's kinda true.
- Oh, shut up Hajime! - He yelled and Fuyuhiko laughed loudly.
- Your loss then. I’m not going to stand here trying to convince you to attend the ceremony. Let 's go Hajime.
- Yep. You’re going to miss the opportunity to see Sonia in a beautiful white dress…
Kazuichi pouted and his expression turned a bit distressed. I never really understood what he feels about Sonia. If it’s a simple crush, or just exactly what he said, there’s no one else that he could be interested in.
Probably the latter.
But I have no patience for his drama right now.
- Ok, I’m going, I’m going.
- I knew you would. Now get dressed and meet us at the restaurant, Gundham is there too. - I said.
- Oh, fuck Gundham! - He closed his cottage’s door.
Thank god. This took a little less time than I expected.
Gundham is super nervous about the wedding. He might try to look like a hell prince or whatever but everyone knows that he’s actually a pretty sensible guy, and is afraid that something will ruin his big day. I’m aware of that and trying my best to make the day be as perfect as it can be for them. This marriage came at a very good time, considering that we just completed three years free from the simulation and simultaneously three years stuck on this island, so such an event is going to boost everyone’s morale. As the some kind of leader of this group, I’ve been trying my best to not make the class fall into a collective depression, which is hard when you yourself are almost at this point.
- Hello Hajime!!! Ibuki just finished the most amaaaazing playlist that she’s ever made for the wedding ceremony! - Ibuki said, intercepting us halfway to the restaurant. - Take a quick look, what do you think?
As also the ultimate musician, I have to say that it’s very exotic, but not bad. I mean, it will probably suit the couple’s tastes, as they’re two weirdos, just like everyone on this island, really.
- A funeral march instead of the wedding march for the bride to walk to the altar? That’s… That’s very peculiar. - Fuyuhiko said, puzzled.
- I bet that Gundham asked for it himself, didn’t he?
-Yes!!! I think it’s revolutionary! Even asked him to join my band, but apparently he has no interest, such a pity! - She said, with her hands on her hips.
- Ibuki-chan! We need to go to the beach to arrange the audio properly! - Mahiru said, in a hurry.
- Ohh yes, sure! Bye bye!! - She ran off.
- So great to see everybody so full of energy. - I thought out loud, smiling softly.
- You sound like a really old and proud father. - Kuzuryu said, with a smirk plastered on his face.
- Damn, you’re right. But I really am proud of them. Always knew they would end up together, just like you and Peko… By the way, when are you guys getting married?
- I!!! - He exclaimed, face as red as it could be. Yeah, the baby gangsta sure has his shy side, huh? - Well… That hasn’t been decided yet. Uhm, actually I haven’t even proposed.
- Bet she’s going to do that first. Where 's Kazuichi? I need to put money on this.
- Ha-ha. - He laughed with no humor.
The restaurant was an absolute mess. Gundham was in there getting ready, more like trying not to die out of anxiety, and Teruteru was finishing the dishes.
- Can you believe it? Akane ate the pork stew that I left on the stove! And I just went to the bathroom! Oh mama… How can someone be so insatiable? Insatiable… That’s kind of hot.
- Get back to work you bastard. - Fuyuhiko said with a death stare.
That explains why Nekomaru is outside the lobby looking like a security guard.
All of the girls must be with Sonia by now, after all the wedding is soon, and if I know the princess well she must be preparing one hell of a look. But Gundham is actually very well dressed too, with his topknot down and everything. He’s wearing a black suit with a purple scarf that makes him look like a demoniac priest, with the devas all over his shoulders.
He’s sitting, eyebrows furrowed. Impostor is right beside him, holding a glass of cloudy water, it must be due to sugar or something like this.
- Uhm, is everything alright around here?
- Yes. - Impostor answered.
- No! - Gundham yelled. - As you can see, the great Cham-p is not at his best! It seems the dark forces are trying to ruin this blessed reunion. But I’m telling you, it doesn’t matter. For we will build our empire no matter what, I’m telling you, you will not stop me!
- Who the fuck are you-
- Yes! I told the princess to not get too close to me… After all they could come after her as well, but she did not recoil. So determined as she is.
- Can I take a look at Cham-p? I’m sure you must be worried. -I said.
- Fear not! Even when sick, Cham-p is aware of his actions, he won’t attack friends. So yes, you may.
- Ugh. I can’t believe that Sonia chose him instead of me. - Kazuichi said.
- When did you even get here? - Impostor asked.
Gundham carefully put Cham-p in my hands and I examined him. The chubby hamster was a little bit less active, and even a bit heavier. Really weird. But I wouldn’t say he’s sick.
- From my first impressions, Cham-p is most probably not sick. I believe he ate something he wasn’t supposed to.
- WHY IS EVERYONE DOING THAT TODAY? - Teruteru screamed from the kitchen.
- How the hell is that weirdo even listening to our conversation?
- No idea. - Impostor said. - But you see, Gundham? Cham-p is gonna be fine. You’re not marrying Sonia on a “cursed day”.
-I don’t know. My devas never do this kind of thing, they’re very picky about what they eat too.
- But Cham-p is so fat- Ouch! - Kazuichi exclaimed, after receiving a punch from Fuyuhiko.
- He is healthy. - Gundham answered, pissed off. - Also, isn’t today a friday the 13th?
- Since when are you so superstitious? - Fuyuhiko asked.
- Is that even a question? - Impostor answered.
- Today indeed is a friday the 13th. But as you said, nothing is going to ruin this for yall, right?
- Yes. You’re correct. Thank you Hajime Hinata. - He finished with a laugh.
- Again, what the hell does Sonia see in this guy? - Kazuichi whispered in my ear. Yeah, I think it will take a while for him to actually accept that she never really gave a fuck about him anyway.
We then sat down, a bit more relaxed. The ceremony is supposed to take place in about an hour, because Sonia wanted the party to occur at the sunset. To just chat like this and be in each other’s presence is truly a blessing, I believe. I’m the only one around here who actually goes on missions with the future foundation, everyone else is confined at this place for god knows how long. But that also means that I’m the one with the most vivid memories of the world after its destruction. The rest of the remnants of despair were way too out of it during the apocalypse, so they don’t remember much.
I guess what we are feeling right now is hope.
Yeah, that’s right.
I wish that Komaeda got to experience this too, since he’s always talking about it. But the idiot decided to exclude himself from everything, because he thinks that his presence is not “required” or something like that. I mean, I can’t say that he is very well liked, but most of us are actually really open to others' redemption. Hah. Imagine if we weren’t. It’s not like there’s any angels in this class. The only one that we had ceased to exist a long time ago.
-Aghhhh!!!!! - I heard someone scream in one of the restaurant’s entrances. - Ouch, ouch…
I ran to the door and got cursed with one of Mikan’s awfully sexualised poses.
- Already told you to wear shorts under that skirt. - I said, embarrassed and even a little bit angry. Sometimes I wonder if she doesn’t do that on purpose.
- I-I’m sorry!! - She said. Mikan’s stuttering got a bit better over the years, but when she’s nervous it comes back with full force. - I… Hiyoko sent me here to ask if you guys saw the w-wedding rings! And I came as fast as I could, and ended up falling…!
- Yes, I noticed that.
She then entered the restaurant, still straightening her skirt.
- Uhh… Tanaka-kun. Sonia asked Mahiru to ask Hiyoko to ask me to ask you if you have the wedding rings with you.
And then, the horror show started. Gundham’s face paled as if he saw Lady Death herself right in front of him, and Teruteru screamed:
- Akane!!! Get the hell out of my kitchen!!
- WHAT, SHE GOT IN? - Nekomaru screamed from outside.
We looked at each other, waiting for Gundham’s answer while the chaos ruled the restaurant’s kitchen. Suddenly, I started to believe that Friday the 13ths really were cursed.
- … No. In fact I don’t have them with me. I thought… I mean, they were supposed to be with her, since she’s with Sun-D and he was the one who was gonna bring them to us when we got to the altar.
- Awn, such a sweet idea, hehe. - Mikan said, out of the blue.
- Oh shit, we have to start looking for it. - Fuyuhiko said. - Kazuichi, you wouldn’t…?
- No! Man, I ain’t done anything, I swear! - He said, kind of pissed, like he was being accused of a really serious crime.
- Calm down sharkboy, we are not going to hold a trial just because of this. - Fuyuhiko answered him, rolling his eyes.
-Guys, calm down. This usually just means that you guys aren’t looking at somewhere really obvious right? - I said, trying not to sound nervous.
- Yes. Hinata’s right, we should take a look at your dorm, Tanaka. - Impostor said.
- O-oh. Would you like me to warn Sonia about it?
- Better not, nurse-chann. It would make the poor creature nervous and-
- No, tell her. She doesn’t like it when things are hidden from her. - Gundham cut Souda’s speech before it would turn into a gigantic crap.
- Ok!
Everybody scattered to somewhere different, leaving Kazuichi, Fuyuhiko and me alone at the table.
- Guys… I think I know what happened. - Kazuichi started.
- Hm…?
- So, hear me out. I think that Komaeda stole their rings so that we have to search for them all day long, until we’re tired and full of despair. Then, after we reach that state, we are going to get a warning that there is a bomb on the island, and for real this time! Once we get to the bomb, and disarm it, we will find the ring, and then he will show up and say that he did all of this in order to make us use our talents all combined and feel the ultimate hope. Or something like that. Maybe he didn’t plan all of this, I can’t be a hundred percent precise, don’t have the ultimate luck, he does.
- That makes sense. - Fuyuhiko answered.
- What.
- You think so, too??!
- Not the stupid bomb part, that’s bullshit. I mean that stealing the rings for such a reason is something that Komaeda would probably do. He’s crazy, that guy.
- I know, right?
- Guys, just listen to me. Why would he do that? He doesn’t even talk to yall anymore, if not completely necessary. I know he’s not very stable, and that you guys always have the first instinct of blaming things on him, but I don’t think he’s done it.
- Why are you always defending the guy?? - Kazuichi muttered, annoyed.
- Kazuichi, he’s my friend. - Almost my best friend, but that is too much of a complicated matter, and if I told this to Kazuichi he would be very offended. I mean, first Sonia picks Gundham instead of him and now I “pick” Komaeda. Too much for his heart to take.
- Hm, now that you talked about it, that’s true. I haven’t seen Komaeda around much, the only person that he still interacts a lot with is you, right? Because of his mechanic arm. - Fuyuhiko said.
- Well, I wouldn’t say a lot. - In fact, lately I think the asshole is trying to avoid me. But I can’t be sure of it, with Komaeda nothing is certain. - But yes, we chat once in a while.
- Oh, so you mustn’t know where he is right now, right? - Kazuichi said, sounding disappointed.
- What? No, obviously I do. He’s at the library. We usually go there together on Fridays. - I answered, a bit offended.
- …Sure. So why don’t you go and ask him about it?
- That could be a good idea. It would most probably relax everyone about the Nagito factor. I bet we’re not the only ones who will think he was the one who did it.
Hm, maybe they’re right. I have no problem checking on him, and actually he would be of great help, if he decides that he wants to do so. I mean, he was always good at trials. When he felt like it. I don’t know, I’ve always got the feeling that Nagito always brilliantly found out what was going on before anyone even started wondering.
- Sure, I’m gonna ask for his help too.
- Ok… But do you think that if he finds the rings he’s gonna want to stick around for the ceremony? Cuz that would suck.
- Sonia and Gundham invited him, man. They have no problem with his presence there, and you should learn to tolerate him too.
- Bro, I almost died because of him at least 10 times! How am I gonna learn to tolerate him, Hajime? I still have nightmares with trucks because of that maniac! TRUCKS, HAJIME!! I’M A MECHANIC!
The second island is probably the most enjoyable out of the five of them, but most of us only stay at the first one, probably because it’s the least traumatic. We usually joke about our disgrace, and make a list of the islands that we most hate. The fifth always wins it for me, I can’t even begin to put it into words the amount of hatred that I have for that place, because it reminds me of Komaeda, tied up and tortured. One of the most horrible views I’ve ever had, and I saw a lot of horrible things.
On the other hand, I like the second island because it also reminds me of Komaeda. But in a different way. The second island reminds me of our late night walks that I’ve learnt to treasure so much, it reminds me of the beautiful concentrated face that he makes when he’s reading a thriller. It reminds me of his airy laugh. Komaeda’s always on the second island and I go there when I have to cool my head off.
I never understood why, you know. Why the person that I seem to find so puzzling is the only one who’s able to make me smile when things are tough. He always had that kind of calming effect on me, ever since we met.
But for some reason, lately when I search for him, he’s always somewhere different, and tries not to go where I go. I have no idea why he’s doing that, just know that it annoys me. That’s why I was so happy when I opened the library’s door, and he was sitting there, at his usual spot.
- Hinata-kun! What are you doing here? - Komaeda said, as soon as I got into the library. He was with two of his fingers inside of his mouth, but quickly retreated them, putting them on the table.
- I could ask you the same question. Sonia invited you, you know.
- Haha! Out of politeness, of course. Wouldn’t have expected less of the ultimate princess, always maintaining cordiality…
- Even if that’s true, it wouldn’t kill you if you showed up to some of the events we plan. - I said, sitting beside him as he shook his head negatively, with a smile.
I looked down at the book that he was reading, just to check if he still had the same taste on fiction. I always get scared that if I stop frequently interacting with someone, I’ll simply cease to know them, especially with Komaeda. So, I quickly noticed that the pages of the open book were stained in red, like someone had bled over them.
- Give me your hand.
- Uhm? - He muttered and I grabbed his hand as delicately as I could, turning it around and finding two of his fingers with cuts, not too deep, but still bleeding a lot. With such poor health, I’m sure that Komaeda’s body has trouble healing bruises of any kind.
- Care to explain?
- Paper cuts, it’s actually kind of funny, you know. I cut the first one by accident, and then, when I tried to retreat my hand because of the pain I ended up cutting the other one! Ahaha! I really can’t do anything right. - He smiled, carefree. - Probably the bad luck before the good luck of seeing you, anyways.
- Ugh, I hate your distorted logic.
- But you know it’s true.
- Come with me, I’m going to take you to the pharmacy and tell you why I came here.
- There ’s no need, Hinata-kun! You don’t have to waste your time with trash like me-
I took him by his wrist and practically dragged him to the pharmacy, so that I could properly bandage his cuts. Komaeda was mostly silent, looking to the ground, dammit, what’s got into him?
- Here, I think that this should do the job. - I said, wrapping his fingers in a thin layer of bandages.
- Thank you, Hinata-kun.
We then awkwardly stared at each other for a few seconds. He seemed to want to ask something, but was waiting for me to talk first. The problem is that I was waiting for him to say something, oh well, confusing situations, they happen all the time.
- Uhm… Shouldn’t you go back to Sonia and Gundham’s wedding? You seem to be ready, wearing a suit and everything. - He said, with a pink tint in his cheeks. He looks so cute when this happens…
- Ah, yes. This is why I came here, sorry I got distracted. - I said, with an embarrassed smile. - Somehow, they managed to lose the rings.
- Oh.
- Yeah, and you probably can guess, but Kazuichi thinks that you stole them.
- Haha. Sure. - He laughed, I think he’s used to it by now. - Is it enough if I say I didn’t do it, or would you like to check my bedroom? I would have no problem with that or whatsoever.
- No need, I believe in you. I actually wanted to ask you if you would like to help us find them…?
- Hinata-kun, are you sure you want to ask for the help of someone like me? - He said looking at his hand, I hate when he does that!! - It’s not like I’m going to be of much use, and, furthermore, I’ll probably only bother the other ultimates! With my-
- Snap out of it! - I said, grabbing him by his shoulders, and feeling his body stiffening under my hands.
- Sorry. - He smiled, apologetically.
- It 's alright. I still want you to come with me, though.
- Ahh… - He sighed. - If Hinata is the one asking, then I guess I’m doing it.
- Great! Now let’s go, we have no time to waste.
The first place we decided to check was the beach, where Ibuki and Mahiru were supposed to be doing the last arrangements. Sonia was there too, in her magnificent white dress. It looked so heavy that I wondered how she was moving with such grace, but, as Nagito said, she is the ultimate princess after all.
- Sonia! I already told you, you should go back to your bedroom and wait, otherwise you’re going to ruin your clothes! - Mahiru said, extremely upset about the way the sand was dirtying the bride’s clothes.
- No need! If I help we’ll find it twice as fast! - Sonia said, with a nervous smile.
- But I’m telling you, as your photographer, that will ruin your photos!
- I bet that nothing would ruin my photos having you as my photographer, haha!
- Ugh…
Komaeda and I got closer to them and admired the decoration of the wedding for a while. The chairs were disposed of in a rather methodical way, but the flower arrangements were quite weird: red azaleas with sunflowers.
- A sunflower¹ next to another. - Komaeda told me, when I was fumbling with the flowers. - We should go ask around about what they found out.
- Sure.
We decided to approach Ibuki first because we didn’t want to interrupt Sonia and Mahiru’s chat, because Mahiru already looked kind of pissed and it isn’t in my best interest to get yelled at right now.
- Woooww!! What is Ibuki seeing here!? - Ibuki said loudly, looking at Komaeda.
- Hello, Mioda-san! It 's been a while. - He cheerfully said.
- We’re trying to find out what happened with the rings. Have you guys found anything around here that could be of help? - I asked.
- Hmmm… No!! But you should ask Sonia about it! I myself haven’t been looking much for them!
Komaeda looked thoughtful for a second, and then he said, with a hand on his chin:
- But do you remember anything from before everyone realized that it was lost? Like where there were, or anything that could be of use?
- Well, I do remember listening to a conversation between our wonder couple yesterday at dinner! But it’s the same as we all know, the rings were supposed to be with Sonia. He even gave her the little box!
- Yes, but once I opened it today, the box was empty. - Sonia said, getting in the middle of our conversation. - We were wondering if someone stole them, but no one has a reason to do so!
- I still think they just fell out of it. - Mahiru theorized.
- We’re going to find out, eventually. - I said. - Let’s try to be calm. Why don’t you two go and redo Sonia’s steps since last night?
Sonia agreed and went straight to the hotel, with Mahiru running right behind her.
- Do you actually think that’s going to be effective? - He asked.
- No, but it’s a way of keeping Sonia distracted from the situation. - I said, and he looked confused.
- Why would you do that??
- It’s called empathy. You literally don’t have it.
- Fair enough. - He knocked on his skull, seeming to understand what I meant.
- What were your first impressions? - I asked, while we went to Gundham’s bedroom.
- I don’t know. As much as I would like to say that she just lost them, I think that someone really did steal them. Probably when Gundham was still with the box. Maybe Gundham himself? No, that makes no sense.
- Yeah, that’s what I thought too. Still, why would anyone here even do that? The only one with a reason would be Kazuichi, but, even if we’re friends I’ve got to admit that he doesn’t have enough capacity to do so.
Komaeda muffled a laugh. Although he doesn’t really admit his feelings and always says that he admires all of the ultimates, I’m pretty sure he dislikes Souda just as much as Souda dislikes him. Fair enough, they’re both insufferable in their own unique ways and I somehow learnt to like both.
When we got there, I soon noticed that Gundham’s bedroom, that’s usually so tidy, was a complete mess. His wardrobe’s drawers were literally pulled off and put on the ground, and his clothes were scattered everywhere.
- Wow. This place is actually giving me the chills. - Komaeda said, with one of his eyes twitching.
- Thought your obsession with cleaning was over. - I joked.
- I’m not obsessed with cleaning, I simply like cleaning, and I would like to clean right now.
- Of course.
- Go, Gundham! You can do it! - Hiyoko, who for some reason was also at Gundham’s bedroom said.
- What are you doing here? - I asked.
- Moral support! And, also, I wanted to watch the drama closely! - She said, with an evil smile. - I love it when things go wrong! For the others, though, not for me.
- I think Gundham is going insane. - Impostor said. - Look at him go, maybe destroying his own bedroom is his true occult power.
- Komaeda, do you think that interrupting him would- Oh, he’s already doing it. Ok.
- Tanaka-kun, have you made any progress yet? - Komaeda said, sitting beside him.
- No! The evil spirits really have gotten me right now! What a disgrace! - He screamed.
- So you haven’t found anything? No clue? - I asked, incredulous. - Gosh, where would those stupid rings go?
- Yes!! But at least, Cham-p is feeling a bit better right now. Maybe that’s a divine sign that we are closer to the truth!
- He’s feeling better? What was up to him? - Komaeda asked.
- Well, I examined him and it looked like he just ate something bad, nothing much. But thank god he is better now. - I answered him, and his eyes widened, as if he just realized something.
- Don’t you think… Maybe Cham-p ate the rings and excreted them recently?! - He said, really fastly.
- Huh? - Gundham answered him, running to the devas cage and examining their literal shit. I felt like throwing up - YES! I KNEW IT! IT WAS A DIVINE SIGN!
Gundham then took the rings out of the cage. No wonder Cham-p was heavier and feeling so bad, the poor thing probably wasn’t able to poop for a long time.
- EWWWW!! - Hiyoko screamed.
- I’m going to wash it! - He said, excited.
- Hiyoko, let’s go tell Sonia and the others about it. - Impostor said, running out of the door.
- It’s so good to see such a hopeful ending! I’m glad I could be of use as a step towards hope! - He said, as we left Gundham’s room.
- So, you’re not going to stay for the wedding? - I asked. - You were the one who found the rings, after all.
- No, I- Why are you looking at me like that?
- I’m just annoyed by your hypocrisy.
- Huh?
- You always claim to love hope so much and yet you never allow yourself to experience it. - I groaned. - You do this all the time! C’mon, just stay this one time, ok? For me?
He laughed a humorless laugh and looked at the ground. That’s probably a good sign, he’s considering it.
- Alright. But again, it’s just because you’re asking.
- Yes! - I celebrated, and then hugged him tightly.
- He trembled at the suddenness, but soon hugged me back weakly. Komaeda’s hair brushed against my face nicely, and I felt how fluffy his hair really is. I always wanted to touch it, but never had an excuse to do so.
He smells good, very sweetly, like a nice warm chamomile tea, so calming. Everything about him is so calming…
Is it normal to hug your best friend and smell him?
Wait, I’m being weird as fuck right now.
- Uhm, yeah. - I said, separating us. My face is so warm, I bet it’s completely red. - So, I think I’m gonna go to the old building to help Peko prepare the party. Akane was supposed to be there too, but, you know…
- Sure. I’m going with you then. - Komaeda said, looking a bit flustered. - By the way, who’s even going to make their wedding official?
- Me, the ultimate priest, remember?
- Haha, that’s quite the talent.
—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the ceremony over, we moved to the party. And I knew I wasn’t going to be able to convince Komaeda to go.
Coincidentally, I’m not really in the mood for a party, so I went off to find him and spend some time before going back to the building and socializing.
Today was a warm night, just like most of the nights in Jabberwock island. Usually, this means that it’s going to rain tomorrow. I guess there will be no pool party for us. I really wanted a pool party before my next mission with the future foundation.
I got to the beach and quickly saw Komaeda there, sitting on the sand, even though the chairs were still there. He seemed deep in thought and I almost felt bad to interrupt him.
- Hey. - I said, and he looked at me.
- Hinata-kun! - He said, surprised. His eyes were a bit brighter than normal.
- Were you… crying?
- No. Not really. - He answered me, turning his head in the direction of the sea. - I’m just feeling a bit emotional, that’s all.
- Hmm, and why is that so?
- It’s a stupid reason, you don’t have to waste your time.
- I don’t mind stupidness. - I answered, trying to be patient with him, even though patience is not really one of my virtues.
- I think… I just thought that the wedding was really beautiful, and that the love that they feel for each other is so truthful, that I got jealous.
- Jealous? Why?
- Oh, haha. Because this is something that will never happen to me. - He cleaned his eyes. - I’m going to confess something to you, that I never really told anyone. Can I?
- Go ahead.
- I know I’ve always said that I hated “normal” people, but I just wanted to be like them. Not serve any purpose and just be happy. That would be great. But I wouldn’t dare to dream so high. I know that none of this will happen.
- So you basically don’t believe that you can be loved?
- Not to be mean, but I think I always make that very clear, hah.
- Hm. - I grumbled. - You shouldn’t say that. Someone will love you someday just as much as Sonia and Gundham love each other, you’ll see. - I said, half hugging him.
- Maybe. - He answered, as he leaned his head on my shoulder.
- Maybe.
