Chapter Text
3rd Life/DoubleLife
Scar was running happily alongside his amazing friend and right hand man, Grian! That was until he fell in a goddamned ravine.
Scar was expecting death, the feeling of red and BloodLust to course powerfully through his veins like Grian had marvelously explained on the very first day! Instead he was in, grass? Why was there a flourish of green grass? Was that Grian?
“Grian!” He yelled, throwing himself from kneeling to instead stand so fast his mind went fuzzy and he fell over, landing on his back with a shout. Then there was a yell and footsteps around him, a hand placed atop his chest. Scar was briefly aware of the pain because he could see Grian above him, frantic over his current state yet looking just as dazed as Scar felt.
Why wasn’t Grian in his pretty poncho Scar gave him? Were those overalls he wore over his red sweater? It looked nice. Grians mouth was moving but Scar couldn’t quite catch much of it in his confusion.
DoubleLife/ 3rd Life
These meanies were raiding their home! Just for some sugarcane they tried to sell the paper of, how absolutely rude. It must’ve been Joels idea!
Scar was walking up to the Wedding Cake to confront them when he got cut off by a sudden purple portal that threw him straight into- Sand. It was all, Sand. It was so hot outside too, so it must be a desert, how large was the desert? He doesn’t remember a desert in DoubleLife? Where is he?
“SCAR NOO” he heard from above, It was Grian! He had to get up and let his soulmate know he was okay! He must!
He raised a hand to try and wave, still dealing with the shock of being thrown through a portal like star-wars freaking space travel!
He heard the sounds of someone dropping down and felt a pain in his legs as if were him, did Joel and Etho find them already? Scar shot up in panic so fast he got light headed and fell back against the stone walls. His eyes shot open when hands grabbed his shoulders and shook him, yelling something.
“You absolute buffoon!! How did you survive that drop!!” The sandy blond yelled at him, pushing Scar by his chest into the warm stone behind him, then letting go and looking away from the man.
“At least you finally put your clothes back on. How did you change so quick?” Grian was too busy speaking to Scar, who was now within the stone of the ravine and grabbing him, hiding the avian alongside him and covering the hole. He was freaking out! Joel must be near somewhere. He must be. Wherever this somewhere was?
Grian pushed away and stared at him “Scar what’re you doing? We should get back to the sandcastle and patch up any wounds you got from th-“
“Sandcastle? What sandcastle? Don’t you mean the red velvet cake you made us?” Scar was confused, what was going on!
“No- Scar what are you talking about? I’ve never made a- Red velvet cake? What are you on about?” The avian question, head tilted far to the side like he always does, its always a good day when Grian feels comfortable to be himself! And if this was one of those days then they must be safe.
Scar slowly broke the ravine wall back open, taking a glance before slowly exiting the tiny hidey pocket he created. Grian followed a bit impatiently.
“Scar, what happened to you?” Asked the avian, blocking his way up and making sure it was clear of how Scar could follow.
“Well, you know! I was with you!” Scar defended, and Grian nodded in non-existent-belief “uh huh.”
“I was! We were at Scotts Relationship renewal ranch thingy he was running to tighten our bond, and then uh, we were heading back home to the wedding cake when-“ he got cut off, again
“Wait, Scott has a Relationship… Ranch? Our home the Wedding Cake? No Scotts with Jimmy in the flower fields, being Flower Husbands or something?” He paused in his dirt and cobble stairway creation, staring at Scar with as much confusion and curiosity that you’d expect a 6 year old to wield.
“Well, we figured out that Joel and Etho and some others must’ve been tunneling under the cake while we were bonding. It was a-may-zing by the way, full faith in you G. But then we’re almost there and suddenly we’re in sand at two completely different y-levels!” Scar waved his arms up and down and out to emphasize what he said, halfway through Grian had got them to the top and out of the ravine.
Scar was very curious, Grians wings were out and gorgeous and, clipped.? Thats not right, Grian refuses to clip his wings again after something he wont talk about, now he just hides them so they cant get damaged suddenly, Grian knew a-lot about the world they played in.
Double Life
Grian has to drag Scar to the beds, thank god he had one on the main floor of the wedding cake, Bad news was they still had moles but most of them seemed to stop in the face of hearing Scar slip and hurt himself, again.
“Hey G, you guys good?” Asked Etho, popping up his head from a dirt hole. He was only staying where he was because his arms were crossed atop the grass, the rest of him was hanging and not touching the ground.
“Yea, now stop tunneling my house you naked mole rats! Get out so I can take care of him!” He yelled, vibrant wings springing out where they hid non-existent in the power of watcher mod-magic. Scar was blinking blearily at Grian, turning on his side and watching the shorter run over and push at Ethos face with both hands until the man had fallen down with a shout, a pout, and stomped away. Thankfully, Bdubs and Cleo understood the will Grian had to actually care for your soulmate, unfortunately, this caused Scar to be more confused than before!
Grian waited until what he thought was all the footsteps had left, then looked at Scar and walked towards the brunette with a scoff and mumbles. His gaze intense on the bleary Scar who watched Grian through fuzzy eyes. Had the blond always shone that way in the light? The blue of his parrot wings looked a bit more indigo than he remembered? Oh wait never mind now it isn’t, that’s weird. Scar must still be too bleary from the fall and random portal travel.
