Work Text:
Grant spent the second he saw him. He was grateful to be sitting down, sure his knees were shaking a little. Of course, he has noticed.
“How do I look?” Dick asked with a smile, feigning innocence. He stood diagonally across the back of the couch, as if on purpose, the overhead light perfectly illuminating each little ring, making them sparkle and drawing his gaze.
He knew exactly how he looked in that dress, after all, he hadn't chosen it for the color.
“Like my death,” He murmured. “My untimely, but 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 happy and pleasurable death,” he took the other's giggle as an invitation, and stood up from the couch, walking around it to reach the man. There he could see him better, the garment was a few inches off the floor, but he was sure that if the other didn't have heels on, they would brush against him.
“I take that as a compliment,” he said, a little breathless as he felt Grant’s hands around his waist. As if it were a reflex, he wrapped his arms around his neck.
He didn't resist when he began to push him back against the backrest. How could he? Dick bit his lip when one of the hands went down to the fully exposed part of his thigh. He appreciated that the other hadn't undone the bow. For now, at least.
“Mh, you should.” His voice deepened, as he knew his lover liked. He smiled as he heard him heart race, enjoying the height difference between them. “So, where're we going tonight?” he has expected many answers, a laugh not being among them.
“𝘐'𝘮 going to a club, undercover, you stay here,” he replied, his amusement only increasing as he saw the clear indignation on the man's face. He looked like a little dog. “I'll be back early, I just need to gather information,” he tried to comfort him, bringing his right hand closer to his face, first stroking a small scar above his eyebrow and then moving down to his cheek. Grant snorted, but leaned into the contact, kissing his thumb almost reverently. “You can help me take it off later,” he whispered against his lips.
It only took a small push for it to happen. The kiss was passionate, both lost in the taste, the heat, the everything of the other. The moment Dick's tongue entered the other's mouth Grant lifted him up with ease, positioning him on the back of the couch. Dick tightened his grip on the older man's hair a little, it always made him feel dizzy the fact that his boyfriend could lift him up just like that.
“No- Babe…” he claimed, breathless after separating, feeling the seams on one side of his dress unbutton. The left one was completely out, if the hand pressing on the top of his thigh and the thumb against his groin were any indication. The right one was giving him some trouble. Before he could continue claiming his mouth was taken in another kiss, this one with more bites. “Grant, stop it,” he gasped as he pulled away again.
Grant's hands slid down, reaching a little above his knees, the brown-haired man gave his boyfriend some space but without completely losing the closeness, just enough to not breathe on his face. Lust was replaced by pure affection in the blue eyes. '𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶' he wanted to say, but he knew the other wouldn't like it. He decided to give him a small kiss on the cheek.
“I'll be back soon, really, and I'd rather not explain to Jay why it took me so long. Besides, it took me almost an hour on this look, I want to show it off before I ruin it.” Grant just sighed resignedly, but moved easily to give him space.
“If you say... what's so funny?” he asked bewildered, emotion that only increased upon receiving another caress from the dark-haired man.
“I was just thinking, you remind me of a puppy,” Dick laughed, increasing the volume when he saw the other's red face. “See? You just want cuddles, you whine if I leave, you're such a sweet”
Grant swaggered away from his hand, unable to tell himself between embarrassment and annoyance. “I'm not sweet! I'm the opposite of 𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘵, Dick, seriously, I kill people for money, what do you mean- 'puppy'?”
Dick just shrugged, still laughing a little. He was finally able to fix his dress.
“relax, don't get all worked up, I'm just speaking my mind”
“Well, my mind says 'you're an asshole'”
“You're still here, aren't you?” And, God, that deep blue and that loving smile were going to be the end of him.
“Yeah, I'm still here, Angel” he sighed and smiled back, leaning in to kiss him one last time, before the shorter one walked out the door.
he stared at the door for a few moments, remembering exactly what he saw in the fool who calls a mercenary “sweet.” When the list reached reason twenty-three, he refilled Haley's food jar, went to their room, and unlocked the false bottom on he's side of the closet. Within eleven minutes, Ravager was riding his motorcycle on his way to an exclusive club.
Pups were protective of their owners after all, right? Besides, they didn't do well being left alone, they just made messes.
