house party? no problem!

Summary:

it was around 11pm when people started piling in, and one person caught his attention.

fuck.

"sunghoon... you didnt tell me jay was gonna be here!"

"he's invited to every party, i thought you knew that."

"oh im in hell."

jake was now faced with the super annoying, super stupid, super hot music student he was trying to avoid. how was he supposed to know he was also an avid party goer?!

Work Text:

jake wasn't one for parties. one because he didn't know anyone who got invited to parties, and two because he was too damn busy with his physics homework. he was used to sitting in his apartment, slaving away at his metaphysics work. yes, he chose to go to college for this, but that didn't mean he had to be good at everything that was thrown at him!

it didn't help that his classes were plagued with annoying idiots that had no business being in a STEM class, one in particular standing out.

he twirled his pencil between his fingers expertly, sometimes putting it in his mouth while between writing notes. his name was jongseong, but he went by jay. both had a nice ring to it to jake.

what made him so damn infuriating was just how smart he was. too smart for a music major in a physics class. jake always overheard jay talking with his friends, ni-ki and heeseung were their names, about his astounding grades. almost perfect 100's on every. damn. exam.

jake wasn't dumb or anything, but he maintained a solid 90 average on all of his exams. it drove him up the wall at just how smart this random kid could be in a subject he wasn't even majoring in.

sunghoon, jake's roommate, always tried to give him some encouragement when jake would come to him with his daily rants about jay.

"he's too fucking smart for his own good! maybe i should take a music class, outsmart him at his own game." sunghoon just shook his head, stirring the ramen he'd been preparing for jake while he paced back and forth in their living room.

"i don't think that's a good idea. have you seen his band play? he's a beast on guitar." jake let out a loud sigh, slumping down on the couch out of defeat. "but... you could always pick up your violin again. they do offer concert band here."

jake shook his head from his slumped position, holding his head in his hands. "he's leagues ahead of me and it fucks with my head!! it doesn't help that he's fucking hot too." sunghoon turned to him questioningly. "you think jay's hot?

"well duh. he's super attractive. his hair falls perfectly on his face, his smile is amazing, he's got a GREAT dimple I swear. and when he twirls his pencil his hands are so-" jake is cut off by sunghoon clanging the bowl of ramen in front of him. "i get it, he's hot. why don't you talk to him then?"

jake furrowed his eyebrows, chewing on his lip while watching the steam come off his ramen. "because one he annoys the fuck out of me. i need him out of my head."

well that would never happen.

jake now found himself in the middle of a packed dance floor, red solo cup in hand, trying to gain his footing as people pushed past him. the house he was in wasn't small by any means, but with the amount of people that seemed to be on the guest list made it seem like the house was as small as his apartment.

it was around 11pm when people started piling in, and one person caught his attention.

"jay! what's up man?" someone yelled from the other room, to which jay pushed right past jake to reach his friend. it knocked his cup against his shirt, leaving a light red stain on his new blue shirt.

of course.

jake closed his eyes for just a moment, trying to regain his composure and not follow jay and give him a piece of his mind. and maybe a heated kiss if he was lucky.

"you gonna go talk to him?" sunghoon said into his ear, the music blasting just enough to not talk at a normal level. jake shook his head, taking a sip from his cup. it would be too awkward, there were too many people there for him to have a normal conversation with the guy. especially since he was slightly more annoyed at him than usual for making him spill his drink.

sunghoon nudged him, his signature smirk appearing on his face. "you're gonna go talk to him." giving jake no time to react, sunghoon began pulling him to the other room, where a few people were congregated to watch jungwon and sunoo (two of sunghoon's friends) playing pong.

jay was leaning against the far back wall, arms crossed with his head tilted. he seemed focused on jungwon paying attention to his rather average shots. "cmon, wonnie, he's got one cup left!" he pestered, giving jungwon a pat on the butt before returning to his position against the wall.

wonnie? that was definitely something he wasn't expecting to hear.

"shut the fuck up jay, do it yourself if you're so adamant about me winning!" taking that as a challenge, jay stepped up to the side of the table.

sunoo watched him with narrow eyes, stepping aside to give sunghoon and jake room to stand behind him. jake's full attention was on the way jay pouted his lips in concentration, the way his hand held the small ping pong ball, his eyes sharp to aim at the last cup on sunoo's side.

and make the shot perfectly.

who knew pong could be such a turn on?

jay put up an L sign with his fingers at sunoo, sticking out his tongue. "loserrr." sunoo probably gave him a nasty eye roll, judging by his reaction of a (very attractive) laugh.

"well, i'm going outside for air. its stuffy in here." jay announced, making his way out of the room. not before dabbing sunghoon up. "good seeing you, man."

as jay left, jake turned slowly to sunghoon with wide eyes. "you're FRIENDS?" sunghoon just laughed, covering his mouth. "no, we just know each other through jungwon. c'mon, lets get you two acquainted."

jake shook his head in protest before being dragged along by sunghoon outside of the house. "hoon i'm serious, i don't want to-"

"shuuuuut up, yes you do." jake quirked his mouth into a scowl as he remained defeated by sunghoon's correctness, allowing himself to be dragged.

jay sat on the porch, his legs dangling off the side. "yo, jay. meet my buddy." sunghoon piped up as soon as they stepped out of the doorway, causing jay to turn around in slight surprise.

"you startled me, damn." jay stood up, eyeing jake up and down. "well, what's your name, pretty boy?"

oh jake was truly in hell.

"uh.. jake. my name's jake." he replied awkwardly, not fully processing that the hottest guy in school called him pretty boy. jay raised an eyebrow, letting out a small chuckle at his introduction. "yeah? you sure that's your name?"

"what? of course im sure! why would i lie about that?" jake retorted, scoffing at the other. jay just continued to stare at him, his eyes narrowing before turning to sunghoon.

"grab me a drink? and take your time." jay nodded to the door, practically telling sunghoon to fuck off. he was suddenly very interested in the boy he's seen from afar in his physics class.

sunghoon just gave a simple nod before scurrying back inside, presumably to 'get jay a drink.' he wouldn't be returning.

"so, why do you look so familiar?" feigning confusion, because of course jay has seen him in his classes. before jake could answer his question, he sat back down on the edge of the porch, patting the spot next to him for jake to sit down.

jake listened obediently, plopping down next to him and crossing his legs. "we're in physics 202 together." his hands were placed comfortably on his knees, taking in the darkness of the night. it wasn't often that he was out this late, aside from the times he'd been in the library studying.

"ah, right. how come i've never noticed a pretty face like yours?" jay nudged his leg, leaning back on his hands against the porch. jake finally took in the words he was saying, the continuous use of the term 'pretty' in relation to him.

"um.. im really not that noticeable." jake licked his lips anxiously, not knowing if jay was teasing him or actually, openly flirting with him. "well i wouldn't say that. i just stick to who i know most of the time." jay admitted, tilting his head to look in jake's direction instead of up at the sky.

jake didn't look away from the street, afraid that he might have to jump the guy if they made eye contact. "you do seem rather quiet though. don't know any other physics majors?" jay asked, subtly moving closer to jake, hopefully without him noticing.

jake definitely noticed.

"no, i tend to stay away from my own major as much as possible. they're all fucking weird. talked to a few freshmen year and they freaked me out with their.. interests." jay nodded his head slowly, laughing a little.

"weird kinks?"

"weird kinks."

jay let out a bigger laugh at this, his dimple visible out of jake's peripheral vision. this made him smile as well, a light blush appearing on his face. jay was even more attractive than before, not just watching from afar. and maybe he wasn't so annoying.

"well i have some weird ones too, so don't judge them too harshly." jake perked up at this comment, finally turning to look at jay. he was staring, eyes soft but still sharp in a way. his eyes were confusing, but wonderful to look into.

"share one. can't be that weird."

"choking."

jake's eyes widened ever so slightly before growing more red, his cheeks furiously warm and the tips of his ears practically glowing. "thats not weird! thats normal!"

jay laughed, covering his mouth and leaning back. "i really just wanted to see your reaction. which was better than expected, pretty boy." he winked, biting his lip with a smile. jake looked down out of embarrassment, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"oh shut up, you're so annoying. and stop calling me pretty!" jake nudged him with his shoulder, though the smile forming on his face said otherwise.

jay took this opportunity to lean in close, practically on top of jake. "trying to shut me up yourself?" he muttered, blowing hot air into his ear. this sent a shiver down jake's body, his eyes fluttering closed to feel their closeness.

he gained a bit of confidence after he'd come down from his initial shock of realizing that the park jongseong was actually flirting with him, turning to face the other. their faces were so close, enough to feel each other's breath against their lips.

"actually, i am." and jake went in for the kiss.

their lips slot together almost perfectly, and as cliche it was to say, sparks flied. it was no fragile kiss though, it was one filled with rough passion and urgency. like this energy had been building up for so long, at least to jake. his pseudo anger towards jay was just pent up sexual frustration that he was expelling into this kiss.

jay's hands slowly make their way to jake's cheeks, pulling him in ever so closer. as if their closeness wasn't enough, jake rested his hands on jay's shoulders. jake's hands on jay's exposed shoulders sent shockwaves through his arms and back, causing a soft moan to escape from his lips.

jay let out a soft hum at the noise, a small smile forming on his lips which jake felt in the kiss. as much as it annoyed jake, he couldnt think about anything besides the sweet taste of jay's tongue on his.

although it felt rushed, he wanted to savor as much of jay's taste as he could.

after a while they separated, a light string of saliva still connecting their lips. "you're a good kisser. better than.. well. better than the only other person i've kissed." jake could guess that would be jungwon.

"c'mon, upstairs. heeseung lives here, we can crash in his room." jake was used to being dragged around at this point in the night, allowing himself to be taken back into the overwhelming loudness of the party. they quickly made their way up the stairs, jay finding heeseung's room quickly.

"how the hell do you know everyone?" jake asked as jay shut the door and clicked the lock. oh he was really in for it now.

"i just do. now shut up and kiss me, pretty."

jake could definitely get used to that.
