Chapter Text
Keith
“I warned him! I told him to be careful with the bugs in the area! And what does he do?! TAKE HIS HELMET OFF!” I watched as Pidge yelled in frustration, walking from wall to wall of the med bay. (Although I did not understand who the frustration was being directed towards at this very moment other than Lance who is in a healing pod) And rightfully so! It was problematic being hit on by my supposed ”Rival”? I still don't understand why he thinks that we are rivals. Regardless, what he did was reckless and put me in an uncomfortable situation. I-I.. had never been hit on before. Especially by a male.
I was pulled out of my train of thought when I heard the whirring of the pod opening. It had drawn all of our attention, causing those who were either talking, pacing, or practically sleeping to turn to the pod. Once the whirring of the pod stopped, lance tumbled right out. Luckily, I was there in time to catch him. “”Wow.. he is really heavy” I thought, bringing us to the ground and holding him in my arms. I studied his face while the others gathered around. I watched as his long lashes fluttered open. Also realizing that he has curly eye-lashes and ringlets in his hair. So pretty… I shook the thought away and smiled softly.
“Welcome back to the land of the living, idio-” Before I could finish my sentence I watched as Lance’s pupils turned into little blue hearts. I was taken aback, deciding to take a closer look in the case that my mind was playing tricks on me. News flash, they weren’t. Lance sat up and smiled at me lovingly, even reaching for my hand.
“Hey amour, How long was I out for?” Lance didn’t go any further than simply touching my hand. I instantly pulled away from his touch and stood up slowly. Watching as lance copied my actions. “Sooo~? Gonna respond, amor?” Lance asked, going up to me and tracing my shoulders. I would be actually crazy not to enjoy this along with the spanish he was spitting out of that pretty mouth.
I sighed and decided to play along a little, gently placing my hands on his chest.
“About a day and a half. Now why are you acting so weird?” Coran was running out of the room before I could even turn his way to look for an answer. I mentally groaned. Typical…
Pidge did not waste a single moment before taking a picture and laughing her ass off. I rolled my eyes and held a frown on my face. Lance just laid his cheek on my head, his face showing little to no facial expressions.
“I did not expect to be out for so long..”
Lance answered, his eyebrows furrowing. “And I am not acting that weird. I just love you.” Lance looked down at me and smiled lovingly. And it caused a sort of…pang, almost. I can’t tell if he was being serious or this was just from the bite. But I wanted him to say this when he wasn't under any effect. Have it be from drugs to bug bites, I just wanted him to tell me himself.
I scrunched my face and just hugged him tight, knowing this would be the last time he let me do this.
“Number 3 and 4!” Coran yelled, running into the room. “I know what bit Lance!” Coran cleared his throat and projected a hologram. It showed a ladybug of sorts? Except this lady bug was a magenta color with light purple... Hearts almost decorating it's wings that had a trapezoid like fashion.
“A ladybug? How would that make Lance act the way he is? I didn't think that ladybugs bit?” Hunk stared at the hologram, trying to put his pieces together.
“Wrong answer, number 2. This is what the Alteans call a “lovebug.” They tend to have a heart design on their wings and are a mix of Pink, Green, Black, And white(Ifykyk). They also like to float from planet to planet and are incredibly infectious. They spread like a weed!” The orange haired Altean flared his arms.
“They cause those who they have bit to fall in love with the first thing that they see. It typically wears off in…” Coran fiddled with his mustache. “72 vargas, or in other words 3 days. He’ll be fine. Now if you may excuse me, I have something to be working on.” He winked and proudly walked out of the room. I Sighed and just hugged him tighter, feeling the engravings of his scar on his back. He pulled back and looked at me, cupping my face with his large hands that were decorated in scars. Rough but gentle.
“What's wrong, Keith?” His smile was soft. I let go from his grip and shoved his hand off of my face.
“I’m fine.” Lance would never touch me like this unless I was dying before. And now he is being so kind… UGH I don’t understand!
