Chapter 1: A New Beginning

Chapter Text

“I am your savior, your god, your everything," she whispered in my ear, then paused for a moment. Her plump lips stuck together like glue before opening up again, this time mentioning my name. "Eun-Hae, I am your gospel." The way I remembered how her words spat out so meanly had echoed in my head, aching my heart. Why does this savior of mine truly hate me for everything she has done to me? I should hate her. But I do not. In fact, I love every holy fiber of hers so much that I would love it if she graced me with her never-dying blood on my hands. I am Eun-Hae, and my name does not hold any importance. Just the fact that today, I will finally kill this goddess of mine, hoping for her demise to come, till death do us part. My savior, my god, my everything, my only gospel of truth.I stood on the cold, hard pavement, on top of that roof she always reminisced on. Today is the day I will kill my creator and my one and only true love.

It all began, or so I was told, 400 years into the future, on a terrible day that shook the nation of Korea. Everywhere was filled with monsters that would destroy and terrorize the world, with the heart of Korea, Seoul, turning into a crime and drug-ridden city, roaming around with many different monsters. To be powerful, you need to be strong. I am not strong, but in this world, you have to be. Poverty struck many, even those who used to be among the elite. While many rose to the top by defeating monsters and ranking up.

I sat on the cold concrete floor, only wearing a small, dirty rag for clothing. My black, matted hair covered my shoulders, shielding my upper half from Seoul's harsh winter night. Many walked past me, giving me scornful looks. It is not my fault I am an orphan child forced to sit out on the streets. It is not my fault my poor, sickly parents died. It was certainly not my fault I spilled that water onto the ground, leading to my uncle's harsh punishments. It is not my fault my uncle, who couldn't even take care of himself, had to take me in as he was my only family. I try to tell myself this, but we were all thinking the same thing. My arms and legs were covered in various bruises, either from the public's mistreatment or my uncle's cruel punishments. I looked down at the ground to avoid further attention, and a pair of small, elegant feet stopped at my own. I looked up and met her eyes. Her beautiful black eyes met my empty ones, the most precious, perfect, cute girl I had ever seen. I immediately lit up at the thought of a beautiful being even glancing at me. She then smiled at me, and my heart fluttered as my ears flushed with a cherry-colored blush. It didn't feel cold anymore.

"Hello," the cute girl said to me. "H-hi," I quickly replied back, flustered. "Would you like me to save you?" The white-haired girl asked. Save me? I had heard that word once before in a superhero comic I saw at the market down the street, but to save me... I would like that very much. I don't care if it would be selfish; I want to. No, I need her to save me. "Yes, I-I would like that." It felt weird to be saved. I walked around the cold streets with her hand around mine, learning along the way that we were both the same age of 12. Her color palette shined bright next to mine. It was a nice little walk. Both of us never made a peep of sound, just peace and quiet. I knew it was too good to be true when a hand suddenly grabbed my wrist. I recognized that rough pull; it was my uncle, and he wouldn't be too happy with me leaving my spot. She disappeared like a ghost before I could say goodbye, was I imagining things? I thought when being dragged back to my uncle's house then soon punished with a stern beating.

I wondered if I could meet her again, maybe have a proper conversation. I wished so. I didn't even know her name; it must be as pretty as she is. I don't believe in God, but I prayed that I could be with her, till death do us part. I didn't know that one wish on an accidental shooting star would change the course of my life forever.
