Chapter Text
I woke up in a room with wooden walls and a floor made of black stone. The last thing I remembered was getting stabbed.
I don't know who did it. No way of knowing whether they worked for Kronos or they were a friend who mistook me for foe. I could not tell you myself.
The person -- no, the god -- in front of me looked like 4 different gods at once. It's hard to explain, exactly. They kept shifting, but each part of their appearance changed separate of every other part. But sometimes he looked like my dad.
Finally, I mustered up the courage and the strength to speak. "Who are you?"
They looked at me like they thought I should know the answer. "Do you not recognize your father?"
My head tilted. "Sometimes you look like him, but not always. Am I dead?"
The god chuckled. "Intriguing. You see all of my forms. Bacchus, more associated with alcohol. Dionysus, with madness. Dio, with celebration and revelry. But I don't suppose you have heard of the other one."
Now they were even more confusing. "Other one?" I pressed.
"You take after my form of Zagreus, god of rebirth."
I started to get an idea. "Wait. I just got stabbed. Am I getting reborn?"
They smiled. "No. You will be revived, if you wish it. You may go to Elysium. But you may also rejoin your brother and your friends at Camp."
That worried me. Every gift has a cost. "Sounds too easy; what's the catch?"
They laughed. "No catch. Your revival is not a gift. It is an ability that you have from being my son. What do you say?"
I did not need to think about it. "I want to go back to Pollux."
He smiled. "So be it."
