Facinorous February

Summary:

Blue slammed the door shut the moment a parrot, of all things, tried to fly into his eye sockets. “OH, TORIEL! WHERE IN STAR’S NAME DID HE GET A PARROT FROM?!”

Now that the immediate danger was out of sight, Dream felt safe enough to approach. He cautiously walked up and helped Blue brush the orange glitter off his armour.

“I made the same mistake a day ago,” He said. “There was a tiger in my room!”

Blue choked.

Chapter 1: Home makeover! ...Ink, why?

Chapter Text

“GOODNESS, DREAM, IT CAN’T BE THAT BAD!” The skeleton monster wearing a blue bandana said as he advanced towards the door.

A golden-circlet wearing skeleton rushed after him. “No, no, don’t open that door! I accidentally forgot to check up on ink and now it’s a mess!”

The two skeletons were currently advancing their way towards a nice, quaint house sitting on a floating island surrounded by a golden void. That’s right, they were in the Doodlesphere! Such a beautiful, calming location would surely instill a sense of peace in even the most unstable of monsters.

And yet the guardian of positivity himself was filled with panic. At last, he gave up, standing a safe distance away. “You will regret this,” he called out.

Blue rolled his eyes. Then he opened the door. Almost instantly, chaos ensued.

“...Holy shit.” The normally bright skeleton’s eyelights were gone. He was also speaking normally and most tellingly, he had sworn. This did not bode well. “It CAN be that bad.”

Dream decided that it’d be a terrible time to say, 'I told you so.' Instead, like a good friend, he saved that for later.

Dream remembered that day very well.

He’d been off doing ambassador work off in another AU that had recently become Multiverse Aware, by himself.

They’d banned Ink from ever doing any kind of political speech or maneuver after… the last time.

(They do not speak of it)

In any case, as Blue had been off on a well deserved vacation day and Ink had been who-knows-where, it had just been Dream. Thankfully, all had gone well.

The issue had been when it was time to return.

Previously, since he’d been incredibly busy and in and out of the Omega Timeline constantly, Dream had decided to simply rent a small house in the Omega Timeline. It was convenient, since he was closer to most of the spaces he needed quick access to.

That had been a month ago. The only one, really, in the Stars’ base in the Doodlesphere had been Ink. Alone by himself.

Dream should have expected trouble, truly.

The moment he opened the door he had to quickly dodge a bucket of glitter to the face! And then he immediately wanted to leave, for Ink had evidently been in a mood for a terrible whole home makeover.

The walls were a bright, neon pink. Dream really hoped that was the wallpaper, and not painted on. The couches were a strange, blocky-shape? They weren’t the typical couch usually seen in the skeleton brothers’ houses. Though… they honestly didn’t look too bad.

Then he went into the kitchen and immediately had to stop before falling. For the kitchen floor had been removed and replaced with- VOID?!

Dream hastily backed away. VOID? The empty, dark, VOID? The one that drove people insane if they looked at it for too long?! He himself, though he’d only took a glance, could also feel it, digging dark tendrils into his being, whispering into his mind-

Dream was horrified. He ran out into the hallway.

“STARS ABOVE.” He said to no one in particular. If he also swore a few times, that was his business. “Ink, why?!”

Then he froze, dread rising in his non-existent guts. He ran up to his room, praying that it’d been left untouched.

“Dream?! A tiger?!” Blue squeaked. “Is it… still in there?!”

Dream blinked, suddenly thrown out of his reminiscing. “Ah, no,” He said.

He’d felt bad for the tiger, though it’d messed up half his room. In the end he’d managed to get it moved to a wildlife sanctuary AU, though not without getting most of his clothes torn up.

Red had even asked, jokingly, if he’d gotten mauled by a wild animal when he’d seen Dream’s face later that day once the tiger had been removed. Dream’s response, to the other skeleton’s surprise, was a deadpan “yes.”

Dream said as much. Blue nodded.

“SO…” The Underswap Sans said after a few more minutes of silent thinking on both party’s sides. “...WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS?”

Dream grimaced at the thought of going back in. He hadn’t had enough time to check the basement, the attic, or even the bathrooms. He didn’t want to be surprised with the VOID again.

“Ah… perhaps we should get Ink to help?” He suggested. “If we can get a hold of him, that is.”

Blue nodded. “THAT’S A GREAT IDEA, DREAM! LET HIM REAP WHAT HE SOWED, AND ALL THAT.”

Dream, honestly, had just been wanting to avoid another VOID jumpscare. Though getting revenge did, admittedly, sound nice. He’d never admit that aloud, though.

“Oh! Is your brother, perhaps, free?” Dream asked as a sudden thought occurred to him. Blue tilted his head in thought.

“Hm… GOOD QUESTION!” Blue thought about it. “USUALLY HE DOES COVER FOR ME, BUT! I’M SURE I CAN ENLIST HIS HELP FOR AN HOUR OR TWO!”

Dream exhaled, relieved.

“AND PERHAPS I COULD ASK ERROR FOR SOME HELP, TOO!” Blue added. Now it was Dream’s turn to choke.

NO!” He denied immediately once he’d regained control over his sudden coughing outbreak.

Blue looked hurt. Dream grimaced. He hadn’t meant to hurt his friend’s feelings.

“Error and Ink in the same room? The house will end up being destroyed rather than fixed!” Dream amended hastily, feeling guilty.

Blue paused. “...POINT. I HADN’T BEEN THINKING ABOUT THAT.”

Clearly.

Though, thinking about it. Dream wouldn’t be opposed to being able to say ‘I told you so!’ again.
