Work Text:

The chain was having a nice day. There was birds fluttering in the trees, a little rustle in the grass from a minish. It was a beautiful day, and Four couldn't have been happier.

But the peaceful scene was quickly interrupted by the sound of a bokoblins horn. Just their luck, the heroes could never have a day off. Sighing, Four took the four sword out of its sheath. The monsters had closed on around them, they looked easy enough but with the three moblins looming behind the mob of bokos, this could be a stretch.

No one made a move. Waiting for the other to start the fight. It wasn't until Warriors stepped forward that a boko stupidly- or bravely, hard to tell with monsters- rushed a him with a spiked club. And with that, The fight began.

Four found himself surrounded by three bokoblins. He took one swipe at it with his sword to have black blood spray at him.

Infected. And pretty strongly too. These weren't your average bokos, even infected they were putting up a pretty good fight.

Out of the corner of his eye, Four saw Twilight and Time watching each others backs as they fought the monsters. They were in a good place.

Wind was holding his own against one of the moblins, But Wind was too focused to see the boko sneaking up behind him. The monster was put to rest fairly quickly as one of Wild's arrows was shot strait through its head. The moblin got a good blow against Wind's side. Nevertheless, he was still standing with most likely a few broken ribs as a gift.

Wild was perched is a tree. How he got up there and was shooting arrows without falling? Who knows. He was taking care of the chains blind spots. Wild was interrupted by a couple of keese swarming into his face. He smacked them out of his face leaving a sight of several scratches on him.

Legend and Hyrule were using magic against another moblin, Hyrule had blasted one of them in the face with fire, sending it stumbling back. Four saw Legend pull out an ice rod- his fire rod still in the hands of Warriors- freezing the moblin into a solid block of ice. Ice filling it airways, killing it.

Sky had sent a skyward strike against a pair of unlucky bokoblins. Disintegrating them to dust and smoke. Sky was easily the most skilled swordsman out of the links, he was the very first of them- though Sky had mentioned something about a tale of a hero who lived before Skyloft was even created. But that doesn't matter right now- he could easily take out a few bokos.

Warriors, the last of the links, was fighting the final few monsters on the perimeter of the battlefield. His long blue scarf billowing behind him, the captain had taken out two the the bokos in a matter of seconds.

Four had long since defeated the bokoblins he was fighting. He looked around for something to seem off. Two moblins. . . weren't there three? Realizing to late, Four spun around to see the final moblin raising a rusty sword down at him. He quickly jumped out of the way. The sword had managed to slice his cheek, leaving a thin line of blood to his face. It was only a nick, but the pain was definitely still there.

Once the moblin was finally felled. Four turned around to see the rest of the monsters dead on the ground. But not without cost. Looking at the chain, it looked like they had just barely survived a bloody war. Four was the only decent looking one out of them all. It was a wonder some of them were standing. Save Four. everyone was injured in some way or another. Time having his left wrist snapped, and Wars had blood seeping through his tunic.

Hyrule was already exhausted from that blast of fire he could pass about any second now.

As if on cue, Hyrule's eyes rolled into the back of his head and promptly passed out. He would have hit his head if it weren't Legend catching him.

Time had began to say something about setting up camp. But Four wasn't listening, he was focused on something farther away.

Four walked over to the edge of the forest. Pushing branches out of his way to reveal a clearing. He heard a very loud and unhuman-like yawn.

Crap

Four's heart was pounding, he knew what that was. A hinox. He was hyper aware of how loud his brothers were talking.

Four whirled around to tell them to be quiet, but saw the shocked faces of his brothers and the looming shadow towering over him was all the reason he needed. Four bolted out of the way. Narrowly escaping the meaty fist of the hinox.

Four made a split second decision before grabbing the four sword again and raising it skyward.

If the other links couldn't fight. Then Four would have to take over. Luckily, Four is never alone.

In a bright flash of light, one became four. Who was once Four was now Green, Red, Blue, and Violet (Vio for short)

The colors fanned out surrounding the hinox. They may be small but they can be strong. Blue had his trusty hammer, Red with his favorite fire rod, Vio had his bow, and finally Green good old fashioned four sword. The fight went by fairly quickly. With shots of fire from Red and arrows from Vio. Blue could hit the hinox on the head for Green to final strike the hinox.

The forest became quiet again, save for the colors breathing.

"What the fuck was that??" Legend asked incredulously.

"Better yet, HOW?" Wind added. Looking at the colors warily.

"OH! Introductions, I'm sorry," Green said.

"That would be nice." Time assured.

"Well to start I am Green, I am the focused and motivated," Green replied.

"I'm Red!" Red said happily, "I portray Four's innocence and optimistic side!"

"I am Vio," Vio said casually, "I represent the intellect and calm side of Four. And over there is Blue, He's the hothead."

"Am not!" Blue angrily stated.

"Only proving my point," Vio countered. "Anyway, we are all Four as one, but each are our own persons. I know this can be confusing, but we can only explain it the best we can."

"Which isn't very well," Blue muttered.

Green glared at him before asking "Do you have any questions?"

"Too many," Warriors said.

Hyrule groaned and rubbed his eyes. He looked over to see four different Fours and passed out once again. Both Legend and Warriors burst out laughing.

"Well we have time, lets set up camp first though," Time said while ruffling Wind's hair.
