Chapter Text
“For someone who had spent years raising his sisters, you’d think that choosing a gift would be simple.”
Mitsuya threw a dirty look towards his friend as a reply. Draken merely shrugged as he continue to walk beside his lilac-hair friend, avoiding a punch to his shoulders by an inch.
“Less talking, more looking!”
If Draken was a better person, he would console his friend as his patience was clearly wearing thin. They’d been in the mall for hours now, trying to find suitable gifts for Luna and Mana, and out of most shops they entered were a bust. However, the blonde was not a better person to which he reacts with a roll of his eyes before stopping to lock onto a store filled with stuffed toys.
Build-A-Bear
Draken nudged his friend and pointed to the store. Draken internally sighed in relief as he watched Mitsuya nod his head before moving towards the store. The blonde followed quickly, their footsteps moving in sync. It was rather late when Draken had realized that maybe, just maybe , they had made the wrong move of wearing their Toman jacket today as the weight of people’s stares and glances were making themselves know.
Ok maybe it was really a bad decision on their end. Two

guys dressed in their gang uniform going in a Build-a-bear store? Draken wouldn’t even question it if the store employees would deny their access (or maybe they’d be too scared to even scold them- Atleast one would work for their favor.) To which he shrugs, Mitsuya was the one who started this anyways. If they were somehow able to even buy the presents then, good for his friend, he supposes.
Draken was pulled from his musings as they stopped infront of the small store. Ignoring the way the crowd parted once they had seen them approaching. Mitsuya paid no mind as he quickly enters the store, his eyes scanning on what would his sisters would like the most. The older of the two simply followed the younger in browsing the store, his eyes scanning the premises lazily, before turning back to see his lilac-haired friend fussing over two rabbit toys that did not have any stuffing yet. Just as he was about to speak, pointing to get both designs, a voice had interrupted both of them from their stupor.
“Are you looking for a gift for your girlfriend? Most customers would pick the left one, saying that it’s fluffier than the other!” The two friends quickly looked up to see a guy standing to the right of them, he had a smile that was akin the sun, which didn’t help that his hair was the perfect shade of golden that reminded both of the pretty glow of the sun just before it moves down to signal the end of the day.
The boy tilted his head as the two were rather silent after his statement. Just as quickly sa he seemingly appeared from no where, a blush had crept up to his cheeks and neck as He shyly looks to the ground, “Ah- sorry for the mindless comment, I saw the both of you enter the shop and how conflicted you seemed in choosing a toy. Uhm- Please don’t mind me, I-I’m sorry to disturb you both!” The blonde shyly yelled, moving to turn back till one hand reaches to stop him mid turn.
Mitsuya was the first to get his bearings straight as he held the boy’s wrist in his hand. It seemed as though even he himself, didn’t expect to stopped the golden hair boy. “N-no! You weren’t bothering us. If you don’t mind we’d like you help in choosing.” It was a lame excuse to keep the boy with their company, Draken couldn’t help but roll his eyes internally at the other but third person, bless his oblivious soul, did not catch on and nodded eagerly.
They then learned that he was a part-time employee of the store and his company made the their trip to the store somewhat enjoyable. As long as they ignored the judgemental glances other people would throw their way- to which they respond in a glare that the younger blonde would not see- it was enough to make sure no one interrrupts them. With the sweet boy’s help, they were quickly able to pick the perfect gifts for Mitsuya’s sisters, It came in the form of two rabbits respectively in pink and white. They also bought them clothes that were similar to the show Mitsuya knows that his sisters like- Sailor Moon? Well he didn’t really know but the boy was familiar with it enough to know despite the vague (read: unhelpful) description given by the lilac haired teen.
If someone were to see Mitsuya and Draken blushing as they watched the young blonde fuss over them and their gifts with his blinding smile and gentle demeanor, or how they were almost challenging a tomato as they finished the heart ceremony with him as their guide, that’s only for them and Kami-sama to know.
With their hearts full and pockets empty, the pair walked towards Draken’s house with smiles in their features. One can even say it was uncanny as their blissful and content expressions were something that no toman member would even think of their vice commander and captain to have.
“We should totally call him and schedule a hang out!” Mitsuya happily says, as he takes out his flip phone to open his contact. Only for him to stop and tension to rise, enough tension to make people stop in their track to glance at the two friends as they wear a gloomy expression, full of denial and grief, which was a whole 180º from the previous one they had just wore.
“ W-we… forgot to get his number.” Mitsuya whispers, as if in denial that they were unable to even know the number of their newly found friend (read: crush). He turned to look at his friend, both of them mirror the expression of the other. Before the other could even ask, Draken slowly shakes his head in disappointment. “I didn’t get to ask his name…”
It was as if they were both doused in freezing water as they fell to their knees. Their minds screaming the same as they lament on the loss of their new friend’s contact and name. Disappointment soon turned into anger as they would come for each other’s throats for forgetting to ask the golden boy for his information, their rough housing turning to a full-on brawl that was only stopped by Draken’s old man using a stick to their heads. With the pair spralled on the floor, looking at the pollution in the sky, they meet each others eyes in determination. The voice of Draken’s old man fading in the background as they both ignored his sermon, a silent conversation was passed between the two. To come back to the mall tommorow as met the blonde again.
Although, it has been an option since the beginning, the two choose to ignore in favor of blaming each other for their dumbassery.
And again, if anyone were to see the Vice-Comander and 2nd division Captain in front of a Build-A-Bear store with their eyes coated with a sheen of unshed tears as they learned that their golden boy had finished his part-time yesterday and was no longer around, that was only seen between them and Kami-sama.
