Chapter 1: Calla Lily

Chapter Text

Blood.

All Ivory could taste, was the warm, metal-esque taste of her own blood filling her mouth and throat. But she couldn't stop running. Not now.

They were hunting her down. Pitchforks and torches in their hands, the seemingly never ending yelling and screaming of the crowd barely audible in the distance. But she knew they were closer than it sounded. Blindly, she ran further into the woods, the dull forest green of those seemingly never-ending trees providing a weird sense of comfort to her.

Stopping for just a short moment, she started considering her options. She knew she couldn't run back to her parents and her childhood home, they would sell her out the second it became beneficial to them. And there was very little left of the place she once called home left. The angered mob had set it ablaze at the start of the hunt. She ruled out the option of blindly searching for someone, anyone, that would help her. She didn't know the surrounding geography outside of the forest surrounded town that she was ran out of. As she started to turn to run deeper into the woods...

thwip!

A sharp pain suddenly presented itself in her right eye, followed by a dripping sensation running down her face. The arrow burrowed deep into her eyesocket, causing permanent damage to the retina and optic nerve. Desperate to escape her soon to be murderers, She immediately started running in the direction that she was already facing. She didn't know where she was running towards, nor' did she care. All that she knew? Is that she had to survive.

Her featherweight footsteps crunched against the fallen leaves as countless arrows raining down less than a few feet away from her, one lodging itself into her ankle causing her to fall down face first down into the ground. She could feel her flesh burning from the cold steel nearly meeting bone. But yet again, she wouldn't stop. She resorted to crawling through the forest, pulling herself using nothing but her upper body strength to pull herself forward. She had long stopped hearing the running footsteps of the mob, but she had continued to crawl, until she physically couldn't anymore.

Bloody, bruised, and exhausted, she flipped herself on her back. The adrenaline finally starting to wear off, she started wincing and sobbing in pain. seemingly forgetting about the blood filling her lungs, she continued to hyperventilate on the cold and damp forest floor. She knew she was dying. She didn't want to admit it, but she knew. Taking what she thought would be her final breaths, she stared at the now setting sun. It was a bittersweet sight, golden rays of the last bit of light from that day shining on her broken body, purple and dark blue skies contrasting the white-ish cyan that it was earlier. Ivory saw it all. And it was beautiful.

Taking in the final sights, her eyes slowly started to shut as her breathing seemingly ceased.

She didn't see the blinding white eyes rushing towards her....
