Work Text:
Burt knows it never could have been with Irving. That doesn’t stop him from wondering. When he takes him to the train station, they share a tender moment. The longer they stand near each other, the more he wishes the two of them could return to the severed floor, build a life there together.
But that’s not how anything in this world works.
When Irving walks away, Burt wants more than anything for him to look back. Even for just a moment. He sits and watches. He waits. And waits.
It turns out myths are called myths for a reason.
