Chapter Text
T-Minus 10 seconds
Greg settled in his seat as the voice blared over the speakers, anticipation flowing through every inch of his body like a river.
10… 9… 8…
He looks out of the small circular window beside him. The crowds of people filling the empty fields nearly completely, pushed back by barriers surrounding the large scaffolding that was holding up him and the vessel he was currently inside.
7… 6… 5…
He turns his head to look at his partner, even though his face was obscured by the large helmet he had adorned, greg could tell he was brimming with the same excitement that he was.
4… 3… 2…
The vessel starts to rumble, preparing to propel them far up into the sky. away from the earth, away from home. Greg knew he would miss it for the time he was gone, but he was doing this to help his world. To discover things that would change all of history!
1-
A large bang rattles the compartment where they sat. Greg's partner, knight, turned his head to look at him. Eyes wide in a frenzy, the excitement that previously filled him was replaced with pure fear.
“That's not normal-!”
BOOM
Greg woke in a cold sweat, still shaken from his restless sleep. The nightmares hadnt slowed since the incident, in fact they had only increased as time went on, plaguing his sleep with bad memories every night. It had been months. Months of learning how to readjust to his new life, how to learn to live not only without his best friend, but with his best friend's body.
Greg ran a hand through his fur, ‘ not his hand’ he reminded himself.
The room was cold and empty. It had been empty ever since he had moved into this old house a week after the incident. Greg had learned the hard way that half human half dog creatures don't fit in well with the general public. Hence the moving away to a little house on the outskirts of town.
As his breathing slowed and he came more to his senses, he lifted his head to look out the window. Light peeked out from behind the hills, signaling that the sun would start to rise soon. Sighing, greg dragged a hand down his face and rolled put of his bed and stood up. Lifting his arms up above his head and stretching. Dropping his arms to his side he shuffled over to his closet, pulling out a navy blue uniform decorated with badges and logos to signify his ‘loyalty’ to the Ohkay Space Organization.
Greg stared at the jumpsuit in his hands. It didn't belong to him initially, it belonged to Knight. But still, everyday greg would put it on like it was his. Using a body that didn't belong to him, wearing the clothes of a dead man.
Today was going to be a long day.
