CALORMEN
- No sign of agriculture yield improvement after 2 seasons. Unrest.
- Nobles unhappy with tithes. Commoners unhappy with shortages, import desert due to Tisroc’s refusal to trade.
- Could put us in good bargaining position after J’s Army. has been defeated.
- Unlikely Tisroc will respond a second before official defeat of J’s Army.
- Minor news otherwise, details from O.
ARCHENLAND
Lan reporting after Peridan’s recent return from AL.
- King Lune refuses troops for final push despite recent alliance signed. Vows to keep us informed of plots against Narnia. How? No bloody idea. Lan does seem cautiously optimistic.
- Peridan reports improved relations since first contact in 1001. Initial suspicions of Narnians after son’s death are gone on Lune’s end. Popular opinion more positive of Archenland-Narnia alliance among nobles and commoners.
- He speaks confidently on his experiences when questioned. Keeps glancing to me during report, which could be nerves for first report. Good future asset.
ISLANDS AND NORTH (other territories)
- By the mane, not this guy again.
- See Orrus’ notes later for anything of genuine consequence.
[[ Pictured next to the third section off to the right side is an inked cartoon of a Black Dwarf wearing era-typical Narnian tunic and pants, as well as a leather head covering. He is depicted with gibberish speech bubbles around him, and a bored but serious expression on his face. A grey wolf is standing on its hind legs in the background, sneaking up behind the dwarf with exaggerated sharp nails and a malicious glint in its eyes. The shading and depth of the cartoon is impressive given the King's age. ]]
During your speech, remember to reiterate the focus is on information gathering and maintaining secrecy & safety of our information and sources. If there is no good moment to immediately pass on intel without risking one of those, tell agents: do not engage. Primary actions are spreading of rumors and passing information back to Paravel. Anything further is overreach - this is a delicate situation!
Informants who have been placed for 3 seasons or longer may request a transfer to Narnia for following season, should they wish.
HOW IS HE STILL TALKING
INTERNAL
- Steady public opinion. Narnians have adjusted to our norms, as fluctuations in economy are now less volatile. Sentiment has followed.
- Many groups talking avians in the West Woods are disgruntled over trade route disruptions to and from Shuddering Woods due to recent scuffles with J. Army. Some scarcity of traditional food items as we near holidays is aggravating minor issues. Keeping an eye on the ongoing situation for potential unrest.
MILITARY
Quillcrown reports on latest intelligence on behalf of Unus.
- Surrender imminent for few groups:
- Dwarves, incubi, reptilian talking animals. Incubi and some dark creatures are not surrendering but have removed themselves from the conflict. Net positive?
- Reports suggest there is a complete retreat to J’s Castle and intent to fortify.
- May need more scouts and spies among dryads, smaller talking animals. See Treasury for feasible compensation options.
- Follow-up on bad information in Western sector. See if it was error or if a scout is compromised.
- Next meeting on all military affairs is tomorrow with Peter.
[[ Beside the final list item, there is a smaller crude cartoon depiction of High King Peter. His disembodied head is drawn with exaggerated features and his crown. He is making a queasy expression as a sword smacks his head broadside down, with "CLANG" written above it. It is uncertain if Clang is the name of this imaginary sword or is a humorous reference to Spare Oom culture, as there are no further references to this in other notes to corroborate. ]]
Final actions:
1. Acquire the new address for our AL and Tisroc contact, ask for direct updates on noble chatter.
2. Remind Pete he must begin to delegate non-military responsibilities as he may need to return to command on the ground sooner than planned.
3. Acquire new quill for doodles. Essential.
