Work Text:
Her entire life, it has been a place of her greatest comfort.
Just sitting there, looking out into the open wide distance, only disrupted by some light ripples, it made her forget all her worries while closing her eyes and just listening to the calming sound of crashing waves.
Breathing in the unique scent of the sea, feeling the breeze against her skin, vivid memories came up again, from countless times she already came to her place of comfort. But one memory specifically.
***
“Hey Anna!”
She knows the sound and pattern of the approaching footsteps by heart, already greeting her without turning or opening her eyes.
“You could at least look at me.” Comes in a flat tone, but not accusing at all.
She opens her eyes and sees the sweetest little pout on Anna, making herself unable to hide the gentle smile she wears herself.
“I’m glad my suffering makes you happy.” The pout, more intense now, turns slowly into a smile. She just can’t be mad at Elsa, not that she is at all, she just likes to tease her.
“You know it’s not that, I’m just very happy to see you, and you are just too cute when you pout.” Elsa says with some amusement in her voice, now full attention towards Anna.
“You’re really loving this place, don’t you?” Now wearing a gentle smile.
“Yes, it is the only place where all my worries seem so small, yet where nothing of it matters at all. Even when I shed some tears, they mean nothing, when there are already countless inside of it. And… there is only one other place on this planet that gives me even more comfort like this, here…”
“Who are you, and what did you do to the Elsa I know?” Anna asked, eying her suspiciously.
“What do you mean?” came a slightly worried response, slightly taken aback.
“You’re rarely that wordy, especially while talking.” Honest concern in her voice, looking at Elsa, as the answer would magically appear before her.
Elsa shuffles around, looking out at the endless amount of water, before she turns back to look at Anna. She feels uneasy for what would come next, but she also knows she can not push it further ahead, even when this just about to change everything in her life.
“Anna, there is something I have to tell you.” She looks troubled, with a slight fear in her voice, her eyes glancing from being more moist than usual.
Anna now sitting on edge, seriously troubled by what might come next, and even more concerned.
“Elsa, you’re scaring me here.” It is all that comes out in some weak attempt to speak, more like a breath.
“I… I’m really sorry. For how you feel, but even more for how I feel. I never wanted this to happen, but… whatever I do, I just can’t change it.” A tear runs down her cheek, her voice on the verge of breaking.
Anna just sits there, unable to move, unable to speak, not even to breath, she just doesn’t know what to do, so she waits.
“A… Anna, I am in l… love with you.”
Voice just above a whisper, tears running down her cheek, her heart beating so hard, it’s a wonder it doesn’t jump out of her chest.
But it was loud enough to hear.
Just a huff, that was all. Followed by a smack against her shoulder.
Seconds passing, it feels like eons.
“Are you fucking serious!!!” It is the first Anna hurls at Elsa in a nearly annoyed-serious tone.
Elsa sitting there not knowing what to expect, she knows everything can happen, most likely Anna just runs away, and they never see each other again. She already saw that coming.
But not what really follows after her confession.
“You dumb idiot!?” Anna says in an even more confusing, kind of light, even happy? tone.
Elsa just sits there, wet cheeks, slightly red eyes, looking back at Anna.
Confusion written all over her face, not understanding the world at all. Attempting to form a word, anything, but failing.
“You know, you could have said it a bit less dramatic,” a smirk forming on Anna’s lips, “at least in a way that I won’t think you are about to die soon.”
Wide-eyed, Elsa just sits there, freezed in her position. “Wha...? I’m so sor-”
But she is cut off by Anna, to be exact, by her finger on her lips.
“Shhh, it’s fine, Elsa.” A smile creeping up on Anna's lips, just looking at a dumbfounded Elsa.
Anna begins to smile more widely, her eyes get moist, and she takes a hand of a very confused Elsa in hers.
“I’m in love with you too, Elsa.”
A gentle, but clear sentence.
Perfectly to hear, but Elsa did not understand.
Her brain just didn't see this coming, made no scenario like this, so she kind of short-circuited.
“Wha…? I…, you… what?” Blankly staring at Anna, it was all she got out.
“I love you. Silly.” Anna just beaming at this, hoping she did not break her poor Elsa.
“You love me. You’re in love…, with me!?!?”
Blinking.
Blinking some more.
“Do you mean that?” In no scenario, in no world, could she have thought of that outcome.
Still stunned, she just looked at Anna, speechless.
Smiling like an idiot, a tear running down her freckled cheek, Anna says. “Of course, you silly goose! How could I not? You’re the most gorgeous person I know.” She lifts her hand, taking Elsa’s with it and lightly kissing the back of her hand.
A shiver runs through Elsa, she lets out a breath she did not know she holds.
“Oh Anna,” a bashful smile spreading slowly, “how could I ever deserve you.”
“Deserve me? A woman like you, who just could have anyone she wants, falls in love with me. With ME? ME? I’m literally no one, never could I dream that you want me for any more than a friend, an-”
The rambling stops.
Not willingly, Elsa just silenced her in a very effective way.
Anna’s strawberry scent fills Elsa’s nose, hands reach up simultaneously to each other's cheeks, humming vibrates against their lips.
Elsa gently sucks on Anna's lower lip, while Anna let her tongue brush over Elsa's upper lip.
One moment later, both retreat, open their eyes slowly and wear the most loving smile.
“That felt absolutely am-”
“Fireworks!”
Both just begin to giggle uncontrolled, but neither of them looks away.
“Sorry, but what was that?” Elsa asks, smiling and looking genuinely happy.
“This kiss, it just felt as thousands of fireworks gone off at the same time inside of me, everything tingles from head to toe.”
Anna tells giddily, nearly jumping up and down where she was.
“And you saw millions of colors with your closed eyes, a warmth spread out from your deepest to every part of you, from your head to your toes and fingers. The time stopped completely and everything that was important, was just at that moment right in front of you.”
Elsa says, as she just gazes into Anna’s turquoise eyes, wearing the silliest smile.
Her hand is still on Elsa’s cheek, her thumb brushes over her cheekbone, her eyes never leaving Elsa’s.
“It seems we have felt the same,” Anna says with a light giggle in her voice, “and I think my heart stood still as we kissed.”
“I hope not for too long, because I really would try that again, just for a little longer.”
Elsa said in a teasing tone.
Looking into Elsa’s ice-blue eyes, biting her lip, Anna’s tone just barely above a whisper while she slowly leans towards Elsa.
“Do you need an invitation?”
Elsa closes the remaining distance, her hand on Anna’s neck, pulling her in.
Both closing their eyes, lips crashing softly together, there is want and need in this kiss, but more than everything, there is passion.
Anna sucks on Elsa’s upper lip, a humming in repeat that is so low that a shiver runs down her neck.
Elsa lets her tongue brush over Anna’s lip, asking for entrance, and Anna let her.
They fight for dominance, but neither really tries to win, the game is the goal.
Back and forth, the fight turns into a dance, one so close you can not tell who’s who.
A few moments later, they part again, both panting heavy, but wearing the silliest smile, filled with more joy neither could have imagined.
“I love you, Anna!”
“I love you, Elsa!”
They say in unison, giggling after realizing it, feeling the best they ever had in their life.
***
Elsa remembers this part of the day as it just happened yesterday. Of course she did, it was their happiest moment in both of their lives.
And it still would be, if the events that followed would not have turned it to their worst day.
Absently, she remembers how her dad must have seen most of it, to say he was unamused would be the understatement of the last millennium.

“ELSA!” Agnar said firmly in a raised voice. Clearly agitated, he took steps closer to the both of them.
Anna was so shocked from that situation that she was in some sort of stupor, not able to do anything, she just sat there anxious, watching the scene unfold.
“It’s not wha-” Elsa tried to say something in defense, anything, but she got cut short, “No, it is absolutely what it looks like. I might be not the youngest anymore, but my eyes won’t betray me just yet. I know what I saw!” his jaw tensed, a firm gaze and a straight posture.
Anna does not say or do anything, other than watching.
She knows what will happen, and she knows it’s her fault.
She let it happen, approached Elsa, initiated everything.
Tears welling up in her eyes, one rolls down her cheek, but she can’t believe any of it.
Elsa doesn’t dare to speak again, the reality of the situation just crashed down on her.
She knows that only herself is to blame, she’s the older one, the one who is responsible.
Funny enough, she doesn’t regret the kiss, only that she was so reckless to let it happen here. That she had not a trace of self-control to kiss her later, or look at her surroundings for a moment.
“You need to pack Elsa!” His lips just in a thin line, eyes closed, the disappointment written deep into his expression.
“Why?” A tear runs down her cheek, just barely getting the word out, more breathed than spoken, Elsa asked her father.
“I send you to a boarding school, it will help you for the future, your career, and I was in the same age as I was sent to one.” Agnar reasoned, not able to look at Elsa, his view pointed to the ground.
Elsa was now so shocked, nothing could have ripped her out of this situation.
She will be gone, for god knows how long, and all she could think of was leaving Anna behind. Her mind was always only with Anna
Anna still not moved, self-destructive thoughts running tough her mind, it felt like her world just broke apart in these moments, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Only be able to think she might never see Elsa ever again.
Her nightmare had come true.
***
It was of no use, she had this habit of recalling those events over and over.
No matter the place she got sent to in the last years, it always repeated in front of her inner eye. Unable to change the past events, she tried to look forward, but she was never able to.
There have been quite a few who had been interested in her, and god knows she tried to give in to it, but she never could, no one could compete with her Anna.
“Anna,” she said the name quietly to herself, as to feel the name on her tongue.
Suddenly it struck her like a lightning bolt.
“ANNA!” She said out loud and firmly, turning around while she says it, and could not believe her eyes.
Her ears did not betray her, she knew the sound and pattern by heart, yet she still can not grasp the reality of the moment.
Elsa stands there, her nearly white hair loose in the wind, a tear rolls down her pale cheek, eyes focused on the only true value in her life, letting hope take over for the second time in her 24 years on this planet.
Watery eyes, equally focused on the one year older women in front of her, red curly hair dancing around, Anna steps closer.
Neither says a word, both just drawn to each other like magnets, stepping closer and closer.
Heads tilting, eyes closing, lips found their way to each other, Elsa’s wintry peppermint scent fills Anna’s senses, devouring the emitted passion in some heated exchange.
None had the upper hand, this kiss is simply the result of years of separation, longing, uncertainty and deepest love.
As they break the kiss, Elsa just looks into Anna's eyes, resembling the sea.
Her sea.
Her gaze shifts lover to Anna’s nose and cheeks, sun kissed skin full of freckles, exactly like she remembered her.
Every day.
Anna was struck by the kiss, nearly forgotten the years of pain, she only saw her world.
Eyes blue like the sky, her pale skin in contrast to them, and the lightest dusting of freckles you only could see when you’re close enough to kiss her.
Both broke out in a huge smile.
“You aren’t mad at me?” both said at the same time.
“No!” said Elsa, while Anna just shake her head, “I never could be mad at you.”
“Me neither Elsa.”
“How did you found me here?” Elsa asked, clearly trying to still process everything.
“Well, I knew you liked to be near the sea, and I’m sorry it took me so long, but I just searched every place that you might have gone to. After you finished school, I had no idea where to look, other than the only place you feel right to be. So here I am.” Uncertain if that made it better or worse, she just said nothing more.
“Come here silly,” she pulled Anna close and gave her another kiss, “I told you there is another place that even gives me more comfort. Did you forget?” She said, smiling, finally feeling more at ease than she ever felt.
“No! That’s why I looked at so many places, searched for you, to find this place. Is it here? Your other place.” Anna asked, slightly worried.
“No, and yes. This here is just a place. But what I meant is also here.” She said smiling.
“What you mean? You don’t make a lot of sense right now.” Slowly getting antsy.
“It’s you! The greatest place of comfort, for me, is being with you. As long as we can be together, I’ll be fine. Being near the sea is just a bonus.” Elsa takes Anna's hand in hers.
They bask in the moment, looking at each other, finally realizing that a year's long search ended here and now.
“I love you!” Both say at the time, smiling and giggling briefly after.
“But I love you more!” Elsa says in a gentle tone.
“Never! I love you much more!” Anna voices much louder, for others to hear, which makes her blush deeply, surprised at how loud she said it.
Elsa couldn’t hold back her snickering, to her lovers' misfortune.
“Mind if we take a walk?” Elsa asks, beginning to walk slowly, but always keep their hands together, pulling the still mortified Anna with her.
Anna just shakes her head and happily walks along Elsa, eager to find out where they might go.
Walking next to each other, intertwined hands, shoulders brushing gently, they just enjoy it.
“Wow! This all looks so awesome here.” Anna looks around to take the surroundings in.
Elsa rummages in her pocket and pulls out a key.
“Wait, no, you can’t be serious,” Anna is caught off guard, “are you serious?”
Elsa just smiles and pulls Anna along, opening the door, leading her into the apartment.
“That’s your-” Anna gets cut short, “our apartment, yes.” Elsa finishes proudly.
“It’s not the newest, or the prettiest, or the biggest-” now Elsa got shut off, “I don’t care about any of it, as long as you’re here with me.” Anna says, pulling her tall and slender lover back by her still joined hands, making her spin and pulling her in for a kiss.
This time, they don’t break apart easily, the kiss grows more heated, hands begin to wander from the hips to under the tops.
Anna slowly leads them to the couch, not breaking any contact, until Elsa hits the cushions
with her legs and fall softly backwards on the couch.
Lustful eyes gaze at Anna, “What you’re waiting for?” she says in a seductive voice, only making Anna shudder from it.
“Just giving you a moment to breath, my dear.” Anna closes the distance already, saying it more in a whisper than speaking it.
The tone and the words said arouse Elsa immediately, “Show, don’t tell.” is all Elsa says.
Now finally at home they can be who they are, the short and fit body straddles Elsa and make her lean back, kissing her passionately, her hip begins to grind and rock softly, making both sisters moan into each other.
Hands begin to roam all over their bodies, not getting enough of each other, gently caressing what they can find.
Slowly losing the very last of each restrains they ever had, they just give in to each other on the deepest level, enjoying each second they can have together, never letting anything between them ever again.
Both know and feel the waiting is over, that now begins the rest of their lives, together.
