Chapter Text
Alice stares out of the window to her room onto the family graveyard below and the buildings further down the street.
She is oh so bored.
Just as Raven warned, rumours spread like wildfire and her dad soon learned all about the craters in the eastern side of the bog, and of the aliens, and of the hole in reality, and how Alice was there for all of it.
Suffice it to say the puzzles increased in complexity thrice over. Unwilling to actually risk making them impossible to solve, she stays in her house to take care of Scruffy and the once-immortal cuttlefish she’s still thinking up the name for.
“Hello, Miss Alice.” The skeleton looks down, refocusing to see the postwoman waving to her from the gate. “How’s your day passing?”
“Hi Shelby, it’s been alright.” The young witch smiles. “Maybe a bit boring. Dad finally caught wind of everything that happened with the aliens and whatnot, I’m grounded for the next few weeks. He’s set up a dozen new puzzles downstairs.”
“Oh, I see. What a shame.” Shelby hums, her hand to her chin. “There’s a letter addressed to you, shall I give it to you directly? I think I’ll reach you
“Oh, I think I can grab it, can you just hold it out for me, please?”
Shelby does just that, scrounging in her big letter bag to retrieve a neatly written letter. Alice focuses her now pink eyes beginning to glow as the letter is telekinetically taken out of Shelby’s hand and flown all the way into hers.
“Oh, that’s a neat spell. Did you learn it while at home?”
“Something like that, yeah. Thank you, Shelby.”
“Of course. I shall see you around, Miss Nettle.” And with a little hummed tune, the tall frankenling continues on her journey.
Alice sits down on her bed, where Scruffy is snoring away, slobbering on the blanket.

Oh, it’s from Skippy! Alice smiles, it’s been a little since they’ve last spoken, on account of her being grounded and all the Creepies, Scaries and Starries moving into the new apartment complex built further down the street. She unseals the envelope to find a letter written on nice paper.
Dear Alice
Hello there, it’s been a while. I hope you’re doing well. Things have been good on my end. Hodgepodge Apartments turned out to be a really nice place. My floor has a lot of quieter folk and other Creepies, so I’m surrounded by my old friends and trying to make some new ones. People here have been very accommodating to me.
I write to you about a different matter, however. Recently, Mask Guy came over to visit and we spoke about computers. He told me about the things he’s seen on the web including online messaging. I asked him to test a theory with me, and it turns out writing with someone online doesn’t paralyze me, since I’m not being perceived, merely my words.
I told everyone about this discovery and guess what they did? A few days back, they all surprised me by buying me a computer of my own! They helped me set up everything. I’d hug them all if it wasn’t a tad difficult.
My TOL handle is “Fast_F0rward”. Feel free to send me a friend request if you’d like.
Skippy
Alice smiles, and stands up to turn on her computer.
