Do You Like Stars? Do You Like Me?

Summary:

Kwazii and Shellington go stargazing on the Octopod, some stuff ends up getting questioned.

Or, ‘Do You Like Stars?’ but it’s a lot less platonic and a lot more gay.

Work Text:

Kwazii was surprised when Shellington asked him to go stargazing with him. If he was in Shellington’s position he would be the last person he would ask to do something like that with him.

But Shellington did ask him, and he would feel bad if he said no.

They both laid on top of the Octopod just staring up at the sky. Kwazii didn’t really know what else he was expecting.

Shellington was talking about the stars and constellations while Kwazii listened to him. This isn’t something that Kwazii would usually want to do, but even he can admit that this was nice.

“Don’t you just love the stars Kwazii?” Shellington asked him.

“Yeah,” Kwazii replied, “they’re pretty cool.”

“Oh, and look at that constellation!” Shellington pointed at a group of stars, “that’s Dorado, the swordfish.”

“How can you tell what it is?” Kwazii asked, “it just looks like a bunch of stars.”

“I didn’t know at first either Kwazii,” Shellington said, “but once you find out it’s very easy to notice.”

Kwazii scoffed, Shellington probably did know from the beginning, but it was admirable how knowledgeable Shellington knew so much about the stars.

Really, there was a lot of stuff that Kwazii admired about Shellington. It almost went beyond admiration, it was almost as if he was in love with him.

But he couldn’t be in love with him, Shellington was just his friend, and he probably only saw Kwazii as a friend too.

While Shellington was talking more about the history and myth of Dorado, Kwazii slowly shifted towards him. He didn’t seem to notice that Kwazii was right next to him until he looked over, and he saw Kwazii right next to him resting his head on his shoulder.

Shellington got flustered before he quickly looked away. No, it’s just a thing friends do, nothing romantic about it at all, which was a shame, knowing that he probably didn’t feel the same way. He decided to ignore it, and he focused back on the constellations. “That one next to Dorado is Hydrus, the water snake.”

Kwazii just nodded, not really seeing it himself. Part of him was starting to wonder if Shellington was just making stuff up, but it’s really impressive that he was able to see them if that was the case.

Just another thing Kwazii really admires about him.
