It was late.
Penny didn’t have to to check the time to know that.
She was tired, but it was her responsibility to finish this project- she had volunteered to build this stupid machine for the new HQ security system. Penny was sure it would work, but for some reason it didn’t even turn on.
“God dang it!,” she mumbled quietly so she wouldn’t wake up Brain or her uncle.” Why doesn’t it work?!”
„Have you tried turning it off and on?”
She heard a familiar voice behind her, quickly grabbed the nearest thing for self-defense, and spun around on her chair pointing at the boy standing now in front of her -
Talon.
„Woah easy there pretty girl! I’m not here to fight!,” he looked at her so called weapon “and no offense I don’t think you would be able to defeat me with that.”
Penny looked at what she was holding - a broom.
Of course, Brain must have left it here when he tried to stop her uncle from putting their apartment ablaze while trying to make himself some instant noodles.
She stood up
“Why don’t you attack me first and find out? I’ve already beaten you with more ridiculous things than this! “Penny responded
“As great as your offer sounds, I’ll have to decline; as I had said I didn’t come here to fight,” he said
“Oh really? Then why are you here?” she asked.
“ Well… back at MAD layer, your friend Kayla came to ‘’ hang out’’ with Mal and I don’t want to hear…” said Talon looking away, clearly looking for an appropriate word “my cousin getting freaky with her,“ he said disgusted by the memory “and since William is out of town… again ...”he scratched the back of his neck avoiding her gaze “you get the deal right? “ he asked with an awkward smile, looking at her again
‘’I am not letting you stay here! This still could be one of your stupid plans to prove to your family how “evil” you are!
“Yet it just started raining and you wouldn’t want me to get sick, would you?” he flapped his eyelashes at her
Penny just looked at him, then outside the window. It was barely raining. She sighed.
“I guess I don’t. For how long are you planning on staying?”
“I don’t know... probably the whole night? I want to make sure I don’t get traumatized again,” he shivered.
“Okay, but you are sleeping on the floor”
“What? Why can’t I sleep on the couch or something?”
“Because genius, if you sleep on the couch, you’ll wake up Brain and he will kick your butt into the stone-age. Goodnight.”
‘’Come on! There should be somewhere else for me to sleep!”

“Fine! But don’t you dare whine about it “

This wasn’t so bad
Who was he kidding, of course, it was bad.
He was lying on the bed with his ach enemy.
Who just so happens to be his ever-lasting crush
But … who would blame him - the girl who, sure, kicked his butt like a billion times was also one of the few people who actually cared about him.
Despite being on the opposite sides and all that, they had a lot in common. They both had a thing for making all kinds of tech, both wanted to impress their respective uncles, as well as both loved comics and mint chocolate chip ice cream.
She is a great listener who pays attention to wat ppl are saying. Penny remembers so much about people she cares about: like how Kayla hates Rosemary, that William wanted a new biology book for his birthday and how Talon is allergic to peanuts… and so on…
She’s capable of generally reading others and finding hidden intentions. She only hides the truth when she’s convinced it will destroy the other person, or their relationship, otherwise she is brutally honest…mostly with Talon, when she points out how stupid some of his actions are.
Penn also knows a lot about him from listening to his random comments and rants.
She knows him better than he knows himself.
She was kind, gentle, brave, selfless…. and scary when she wanted to be!
And of course she was unconventionally attractive, he loved everything about her: her freckles, her silk like golden hair, sapphire blue eyes, even her scars, rough hands - the result of years of training, her broad shoulders…and especially her physical strength…
I mean come on what type of a woman can lift a builder 3 times her own size and not even break a sweat! She could break him in half if she wanted to…
Come on do something!
Penny screamed at herself internally.
This could be her only chance to be close to him... or fucking it up and making things weird between them. He’s just so near her! She could just reach out, grab him and ... Still, she hesitated.
She felt herself itching to bring him closer.
Despite their shared rivalry, she couldn’t help but fall in love with Talon. The guy was a jerk, sure... but it was just an act he put on to mask his insecurities. Sometimes, when he was around people he trusted, or when he was in a very dire situation; the mask would fall revealing a kind, sensitive and passionate teen
He was also destructively handsome, not that Penny cared much about looks anyway.
She turned around to face him. He was lying just next to her, staring into nothingness, but when he saw her move his eyes shot up to look into hers.
He moved closer
She moved back, thinking that he wanted more space
Determined he moved closer again.
Seriously how much more space does the guy want?
She moved away again, but this time she miscalculated how wide her bed was, and with a loud thump she fell off
“Mph-“
“Don’t you dare”
“BAHAHAHAHAHH”
“Keep it down! You’ll wake up Brain!”
“HAHAHA SORRY YOU JUST- HAHAHA”
She picked herself up and covered his mouth with her hand
“Don’t laugh! You were the one who took up the bed! “
He took her hand off his mouth.
“Well, sorry to disappoint you but that wasn’t my intention!”
“Oh really? Then what was it?”
“Uhh…”
“…Talon?”
“Yes…?”
“What did you want to do?”
“W-well I’m pretty sure I saw you shiver and uh- I kind of sort of…wanted to hug you…? Sorry I shouldn’t have...”
She lay down next to him
“Hey... I wouldn’t mind...”
“Really?”
“Really.”
…
“Can I...?” she asked, reaching her hand towards him.
“Sure”
She took him by the waist and slid him towards herself. Talon felt her warmth surrounding him as he snuggled closer to her, as she held him by the waist, she could hear him hum a quick note in bliss
