In the beginning, there was only Non-existence. How long it was like that (a second, a minute, an hour, or more time than has ever been recorded), who knows; as Time did not exist yet. For however long it was, it did not last forever. One moment, out of nothing, came Existence. This upset Non-existence greatly, as it was perfectly happy being alone. However, Non-existence was willing to go along to get along.
For the longest time, Existence was content to simply make stuff: particles, atoms, electromagnatism, gravity, stars, planets, and black holes (something Non-existence was quite fond of if it were to be honest). Then Existence created something that Non-existence found intolerable - Life! Oh, it was bad enough when it was simple, single-cell lifeforms, but it was something else when multicellular and sentient lifeforms appeared. To combat this abomination, Non-existence created Death to wipe out Life.
The children of Non-existence and Existence fought for eons to no avail. Eventually, Non-existence and Existence came to a compromise: they created Time. Time would set a limit as to how long something could exist. In return, when something died or ceased to be, its matter and energy would be recycled to create new things and life. While this satisfied Non-existence and Existence, Death felt cheated.
And so it was that life flourished. The collective unconscious (the Onwie) formed, and from there sprang the gods. It was these beings of such great power and long lives that drove Death insane. It disobeyed Non-existence and waged war on the gods. Non-existence became so angered by its child disobeying it, it gave the gods the ability to defeat Death. The gods locked the original Death away and Non-existence created a new one.
However, as life continued to spread through multiple dimensions and universes, Non-existence repented. Instead of releasing the original Death, now known as Skeletor, and risking a new war with Existence, Non-existence provided for a way for the sentient beings to release it. Meanwhile, the gods created Castle Greyskull and the He-Man, She-Ra, and Ze-Zim to represent the three fundamental forces of being: the Masculine, the Feminine, and the Androgynous. The He-Man and She-Ra would go out into the Omniverse, while the Ze-Zim would guard Greyskull.
When the fallen He-Man and She-Ra rebelled, they killed the Ze-Zim and laid claim to Greyskull themselves. Once they were defeated by the gods, it was determined to never use the He-Man and She-Ra again and created Zodac instead. What they did not know was that one of their own, the goddess Teela, stole the Power Sword, planning on bringing back the He-Man and She-Ra for her own purposes.
The human siblings, Adam and Adora, were chosen by her to bear the title of He-Man and She-Ra. They agreed, but only at the sacrifice of her divinity, to which she reluctantly agreed. Over the next year, Teela fell in love with Adam and they married. Together, with Adora and her husband, Jeoff "Sea Hawk" Reccula, they fought against evil and for peace for all people. Adora even became pregnant with her first child. They were happy and content; looking forward to settling down with a nice, normal life.
Then came Hordak and his evil Horde. Through use of the Time Crystal, he started to fracture reality, threatening to release Skeletor. They were able to stop Hordak, but because they didn't reset the original timeline (which would have involved the destruction of Eternia and everyone on it), Zodac stepped in, killing Teela, Jeoff, and Adora's unborn daughter, Hope. He then took the Power Sword away from them and returned to Greyskull.
Teela's sister, Sharella saw this and swore revenge. She gave the forbidden grimoire "The Book of Forgotten Nightmares" to an evil witch by the name of Evelyn "Evil-Lyn" Morgan so she could unleash Skeletor and wreak vengeance upon Zodac and the gods, whom she also blamed for her sister's death.
This is where we are now. The stage has been set for one of the greatest conflicts between Good and Evil, with the winner becoming Master of the Universe.
