Work Text:
My consciousness returned to the colourless, silent world.
I had fallen gently into a cool stream, shallow enough to stand on.
Despite being lost at the moment, I was unbothered.
As I waited, drops fell to my side, lonelier than water,
yet bleeding together all the same.
I stared up, and the lone face in the river stared back.
I had come from there.
I wondered how deep underwater or underground it had been.
Regardless, if she wasn’t here, I could follow;
as if we were chained together.
Suddenly, she fell past me, and vanished as well,
yet I remained.
