Work Header

with all my heart

Summary:

It all starts with a nightmare, and ends with her wearing Sylus' shirt while cuddling in his bed.
She finds him in the middle of the night, seeking comfort and breaking down his walls in the process. Eventually, secrets unravel and feelings spill over—in ways neither of them expected.

Title from “Falling In Love” by Cigarettes After Sex.

Notes:

Fell asleep while listening to Sylus' Exclusive Care Secret Times and woke up with an idea in my head that I couldn't get out, so I wrote a little something :)

I made a Spotify playlist for this! So if you want the soundtrack I listened to while writing, here you go:

Work Text:

The guest room is quiet. Its only occupant is already fast asleep at this time of night, and all the lights are turned off.

Right across the hall, the light under Sylus’s study door spills into the dark. It's not the sterile blue glow of a screen—he’s not working like that tonight. No tech. No noise. Just ink, paper, and silence. And the little lamp that bathes the room in soft golden hues.

He's seated at the desk, sleeves rolled up, hands ink-stained from scrawling out coded notes. A folded map lies open before him, dotted with names, places, and lines no one outside Onychinus would dare trace.

Beside it: a phone—specifically for Onychinus business. It's turned off for now.

Sylus looks exhausted.

Not physically—but in that way people look when they've carried too many secrets for too long. One hand rubs the back of his neck, slow and rough, then drops back to the desk as he mutters under his breath. Something doesn’t add up in the report he's reading. Someone’s lying. Again.

He exhales slowly through his nose, picks up the pen, and keeps writing.

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

She doesn’t remember falling asleep. But she wakes suddenly, like she’s been shoved off a ledge.

Her eyes snap open in the dark—heart racing, breath ragged. The dream still clings to her like a second skin: Sylus, motionless, blood on his shirt, her hands shaking as she tried to reach him.

She gasps out a small sob and covers her mouth, almost afraid of how loud the sound is. The guest room is too silent. The sheets are too cold.

She sits up, with trembling hands, trying to will it away.

“It wasn’t real,” she whispers to herself, voice breaking. “He’s fine. He’s fine.”

But it felt real. Too real. And suddenly, she can’t breathe, being so far from him.

Her bare feet touch the floor before she even knows what she’s doing. She pulls on the first shirt she finds in the closet—his, of course—and pads quietly out into the hallway, heart hammering forcefully against her ribs.

The faint sliver of light from beneath the door to his study tells her Sylus is still awake. Still there. Still—alive.

She hesitates for a second. Then raises her hand and knocks—softly. She doesn't wait for an answer, just pushes open the door.

She doesn’t know where else to go. Right now… she just needs him. And his comfort.

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

She stays standing in the doorway, rooted to the spot. The sleeves of the shirt are tugged over her hands, eyes shining with unshed tears. The lamp casts soft golden shadows across the room. He straightens in his chair when he sees her—his brows drawing together, his voice even.

“What’s wrong, kitten?”

She shakes her head, stepping in, her voice barely above a whisper.

“It’s nothing. I just… I couldn’t sleep.”

Sylus watches her closely. She lowers herself into the chair across from his desk like it’s muscle memory, but her posture is tight, like she’s holding herself together by a thread.

There's a beat of silence.

“You were crying,” he says quietly. It's not a question.

She flinches a little. Her voice cracks when she replies. “It was a dream. Just a stupid dream, I know that—”

She cuts herself off, pressing her hand to her face, blinking fast.

“But you were hurt. We were in the field, in battle. I did something wrong, made a wrong move, and you—you covered me. Took the hit.”

Her shoulders shake just once, and she tries to breathe through it.

“I kept calling for help. I was trying to stop the bleeding, but you just… looked at me. Smiled. Said something like, ‘I’d do it again.’ And then you—”

Her voice fails again. She takes a breath. “You wouldn’t wake up.”

She curls her hands into fists in her lap. “When I woke up… I just—needed to see you.” Her voice is low, shaky with unshed tears.

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

Before she can say anything else, and before he can talk himself out of it, Sylus moves across the room and wraps his arms around her.

It’s not polished—unplanned. But it’s firm and grounding. His hands settle on her back, gently pulling her in as she chokes on a quiet sob and clutches at the front of his shirt like she might fall apart otherwise as the tears start to fall.

He says nothing for a long moment. Just lets her bury her face against him, lets her cry. Then, quietly—

“I’m right here.”

She doesn’t answer, just clings tighter. His hand moves slowly—almost awkwardly—over her back. Comforting. Real.

“Next time…” he adds quietly, hesitating just a bit, “You don’t have to knock. Just come in.”

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

Her breathing steadies after a while, but the tear stains still glisten on her cheeks. Sylus holds her a little longer than he probably should, arms firm around her like he’s afraid she’ll vanish again.

Then, without a word, he pulls back just enough to look at her face. His brows are furrowed. He opens his mouth like he wants to say something—but stops himself. Instead, he glances over at the little lamp on his desk… and reaches out to turn it off.

The room goes dim.

“Come on, kitten.”

His voice is low. Rough around the edges. She blinks up at him, startled as he takes her hand again—this time more deliberately.

“Where are we going?”

He doesn’t answer, just leads her out of the study, down the quiet hallway. She realizes quickly they’re not heading toward the guest room.

“Sylus…?”

He stops in front of a door. His door. Her heart trips over itself.

He finally speaks—but it’s barely a whisper: “Just—stay where I can see you tonight.”

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

He leads her inside and closes the bedroom door behind them, the quiet click echoing louder than it should. The room is dark, lit only by the faint glow of moonlight spilling across his bed.

She hovers near the doorway, hesitant. Sylus doesn’t speak—not yet. He walks over to the bed, pulls the covers back with one swift motion, then looks at her over his shoulder.

“Get in.”

His voice is low. Controlled. Too controlled.

She swallows hard and nods, heart thudding. The moment she lies down, her senses are overwhelmed—everything smells like him. His scent clings to the sheets, all clean and electric and warm.

He stands for a moment at the edge of the bed, watching her. Then, wordlessly, he shrugs off his suit jacket and sits beside her. Doesn’t get under the blanket. Just… sits. Like he’s battling himself.

“You don’t have to stay,” she whispers. “If it’s too much—”

His head turns sharply toward her. Their eyes meet.

“It’s not that.”

There's a pause. The air suddenly feels heavy between them.

“Then what is it?”

His jaw tightens. For a heartbeat, he looks like he might not answer. But then, his reply comes in a voice like crushed velvet.

“I shouldn’t want this.”

She freezes.

“You,” he says, eyes on hers, voice rough now. “Lying in my bed. Looking at me like that. I shouldn’t want it.”

The silence that follows isn’t awkward. It’s charged.

He leans down slowly, one arm braced on the mattress near her head. His face hovers inches from hers. Close enough that she can feel the heat of his breath.

But he doesn’t kiss her. Not yet. He just stays there. Breathing hard, fighting something invisible.

“Sweetheart. Go to sleep,” he murmurs, but his voice is shaking.

He stays exactly where he is, his lips nearly brushing her temple. And she knows—if she moved even a little… he wouldn’t stop her.

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

The room is quiet now. She’s curled up beneath his blankets, her body sinking into the warmth of his bed, heart still thudding with leftover adrenaline from the nightmare.

Sylus has shifted a little. He's lying beside her, propped slightly on one elbow, eyes on the ceiling—but she can feel the tension in him. Every inch of his body is coiled like he’s barely holding something back.

She turns her head toward him, voice soft. “You’re still awake.”

He doesn’t respond for a moment. Then, quietly, he asks: “How could I sleep—with you beside me, kitten?”

Her breath catches. She shifts slightly, and the movement makes the blanket slip lower—just enough to reveal the curve of her shoulder, the soft slope of her collarbone.

His eyes flick to her. And this time, he doesn’t look away.

“You should’ve come to me sooner.”

“I didn’t want to bother you…”

His jaw clenches, and before she can add anything, his hand reaches out—slow, deliberate. Fingers brushing her cheek first, then trailing lightly down to her jaw. He’s looking at her like he’s afraid touching her will ruin everything… but can’t help it anymore.

“Kitten... You should know by now—you never bother me.”

She leans into his touch—just slightly. It's enough to make him pause. His thumb lingers at her cheekbone.

“Sylus…”

He closes his eyes like it physically hurts to hear his name from her mouth. When he opens them again, the mask is gone. All that’s left is heat. Want.

“I don’t want to pretend I don’t care about you,” he says, voice hoarse. “Not anymore.”

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

With that, he kisses her. Slowly, deeply. Like every second of restraint he’s ever shown is unraveling right here, between their lips. His hand cradles her face, his thumb brushing over the curve of her cheekbone with a tenderness that contradicts the way his breath stutters.

She gasps softly into the kiss, and something inside him breaks completely.

He rolls slightly, shifting his body over hers with careful weight, never fully pressing down—just enough to let her feel the heat in him. The hunger.

His lips trail away from her mouth, down to her jaw, her neck. Each kiss is a slow burn, like he’s tasting a dream he doesn’t quite believe is real.

“Do you have any idea…” he whispers against her skin, “what it’s been like? Having you sleep in my guest room. Sitting across from me at breakfast. Looking at me like I’m—something good.”

She threads her fingers into his hair, gently tugging, and he groans under his breath—just barely.

He pulls back just far enough to look at her. His pupils are blown wide, lips kiss-bruised, and the indifferent look he always wears is nowhere to be seen.

“Sweetie—Tell me to stop,” he rasps, voice rough with want. “If I go any further… I’m not going to be able to pretend you’re just a guest in my house anymore.”

“Then don’t pretend,” she breathes, arching up into him.

He stares at her for a moment—one heartbeat, two—like he’s memorizing her. And then he kisses her again, hungrily now. His hands slide under the fabric of her shirt, fingertips dancing lightly along her ribs, reverent and slow.

Tonight… he won’t let her go.

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

Their lips part, just barely, breaths mingling in the space between. Her hand is still curled in the fabric of his shirt, her fingers trembling slightly.

Sylus hovers over her, his forehead resting gently against hers, as if grounding himself with that one fragile point of contact.

“Tell me to stop,” he whispers again, but this time it’s not a warning—it’s a plea. A final thread of hesitation clinging to the man who’s tried so hard to keep his heart locked away.

She looks up at him, eyes glassy, cheeks flushed.

“Don’t,” she breathes. “Please... don’t stop.”

He exhales shakily. And then he kisses her, again. Like like he’s been dying to for months.

Not with urgency—not yet—but with aching reverence. Like she’s the only thing he’s ever truly wanted, and now that she’s here beneath him, he’s terrified he might wake up from the dream.

His hand slides into her hair, the other cradling her waist as he deepens the kiss. He shifts his body down slowly, so he’s lying between her legs, keeping his weight carefully balanced, but still pressing close enough that she can feel everything. Every slow inhale, every shiver.

“You’re so beautiful, kitten,” he murmurs, lips brushing her jaw, her throat, the hollow of her collarbone. “Do you even know what it does to me? Seeing you in my bed, wanting me?”

She moans softly when his hand drifts under her shirt, fingers caressing up her ribs with featherlight tenderness. He doesn’t rush. No, he lingers—letting each touch speak volumes he can't put in words yet.

Clothes start disappearing in between kisses. Not hurried. Just… inevitable.

When he finally lowers her into the pillows, their bodies pressed together, his voice is low and wrecked.

“I want to take my time with you.”

And he does. Every touch is slow, deliberate. Every kiss is a confession. When he whispers against her neck, it’s not just lust—it’s longing. Like he’s finally allowing himself to feel everything he’s been holding back for so long.

This is not just about needing her. It’s about choosing her.

He's soft, tonight. He kisses her through every movement. Holds her tighter when she whimpers. Whispers her name like it’s holy.

And when she cries out softly, overwhelmed by the moment, he kisses the tears away from the corners of her eyes and murmurs, “I’ve got you, kitten… I’m right here. I’m not going anywhere.”

She clings to him like he’s the only thing anchoring her to the earth. Her nails dig gently into his back as he moves, slow and deep, like he’s trying to memorize every sound she makes.

His lips never stray far. He keeps kissing her—her cheek, her temple, her shoulder—like he’s afraid she’ll vanish if he stops touching her.

Her voice breaks on a soft gasp, and his rhythm falters for just a second. He lifts his head, breathing hard, eyes flickering across her face like he’s searching for something.

“Was that okay?” he murmurs, voice hoarse, the barest flicker of vulnerability behind his usual steel. “Do you… want me to slow down?”

Her answer is a whispered, desperate, “Don’t stop, please—don’t stop.”

And just like that, the tension snaps. He kisses her again, deeper, almost reverent.

“I won’t,” he promises, “not unless you ask me to.”

He shifts, angling his hips just slightly, and the moan that escapes her lips has his own breath catching in his throat.

“That’s it,” he whispers. “Let me take care of you.”

And he does. God, he does.

The room is all heat and heartbeat and soft, breathless sounds now. His name, broken and beautiful, tumbles from her lips like prayer. And when she tightens her arms around him, nails scraping ever-so-lightly down his back, he makes a low, wrecked sound and buries his face in her neck.

“Sweetheart... You’re going to be the death of me,” he breathes.

But even as he says it, it’s clear—he doesn't mind. Not in the slightest.

When the final wave crashes over them, it’s not loud or messy—it’s quiet. Intimate. He holds her through it like he’s afraid the moment will slip through his fingers. He doesn’t let go.

Not even afterward.

When it’s over, when everything stills and the only sound is the pounding of their hearts, he stays pressed against her, chest heaving, lips brushing her temple like a silent promise.

They lie tangled in the sheets, her head on his chest, his fingers tracing slow, absentminded patterns along her back.

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

She thinks he’s asleep. The room’s gone quiet again, heavy with the kind of stillness that only comes after everything’s been laid bare.

But then—his fingers trace up her spine, featherlight. She shivers.

“You’re still awake,” she whispers.

He hums, the sound low in his throat. “Couldn’t sleep. Not when you’re here.”

She turns to face him, blinking in the moonlight. And the look he gives her—raw, unguarded—makes her heart stop for a moment.

He brushes a strand of hair from her cheek, then leans in to kiss her. Not heated. Not demanding. Just slow. Tender. Devastating.

“I’m not done with you yet,” he murmurs against her lips.

Before she can respond, he rolls them over gently, placing her beneath him again. His hands roam her body like he’s rediscovering her all over. Like he’s savoring this—savoring her.

“I want to just... feel, this time,” he whispers, kissing down her throat, chest, stomach. “No distractions. Just you. Just this.”

Her breath catches in her throat as he worships her with every kiss, every touch. His hands are everywhere—soft, reverent, possessive—like he’s memorizing the map of her skin.

When he finally enters her again, it’s slow. So slow. Deep, deliberate, achingly intimate. Like he’s not just trying to make her feel good—he’s trying to show her something. Something he can’t say out loud.

Their fingers tangle. Their gazes lock. Every thrust is full of meaning, until she’s trembling beneath him, her body burning up from the inside out.

“You feel like home,” he whispers raggedly, like the truth slipped out before he could stop it. “I don’t want to let you go.”

She pulls him down, kisses him like she feels it too. Like they’re both unraveling and holding on all at once. His hand tangle in her hair as he pulls her even closer.

Each movement is slow, a dance of control and surrender. When she cries out, nails scraping down his spine, his breath hitches. He buries his face in her neck with a small, broken sound.

He picks up the pace only when her hands clutch at his back again, urging him on. Her soft cries against his ear undo him all over again.

“Sweetheart... Come with me,” he groans, forehead pressed to hers. “Please—let go with me.”

And when they reach that edge again, together, it’s a long, slow burn—each wave washing over them with quiet, desperate intensity.

It’s not loud, not messy. It’s perfect.

Once it’s over, he doesn’t even try to move. He just kisses her again—slow and deep and a little broken—and whispers the softest confession against her lips:

“I think you ruined me.”

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

After, they lie tangled in the sheets, limbs intertwined like they were made to fit perfectly together. Sylus’ fingers trace slow, soothing circles on her bare back, his touch light but full of quiet devotion. The steady rhythm of his strokes is like a gentle heartbeat against her skin, grounding her after everything.

Her head rests against his chest, listening to the steady thump of his heart—a steady, real thing she never thought she’d get from him. The warmth of his body beneath her is a soft shield against the dark, a promise without words.

For a while, they just breathe in sync, wrapped in the quiet of the night, like the world outside has melted away.

Then, her voice breaks the silence—soft, hesitant, but brave.

“Sylus… what was that? What… what does this mean for us?”

His fingers pause for a moment, then start moving again, slower now, more careful. He pulls a deep breath, voice low and steady, almost vulnerable.

“It means… I’m not pretending anymore. Not with you. Not tonight. Not ever.”

His hand slides up, gently brushing a stray lock of hair from her face. “I want this—all of it. You. Me. Us. Whatever comes next.”

She swallows hard, heart fluttering like a caged bird, then looks up at him with wide, hopeful eyes.

“Me too,” she whispers.

Sylus’ lips curl into the faintest, most genuine smile she’s ever seen.

“Good,” he murmurs. “Because you’re mine now. And I’m not letting go.”

And with that, he tightens his arms around her, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to her temple—a quiet promise that this night was only the beginning.

The silence settles again, soft and warm like a blanket draped over both of them. Sylus can feel the slow, gentle rise and fall of her breathing against his chest, each inhale a little lighter than the last. She’s still holding onto him—hand curled loosely against his ribs like she’s afraid he’ll slip away if she lets go.

But he doesn’t move. Can't. Won't.

He just stays right where he is, arms wrapped around her like a security blanket, feeling her heartbeat slow to match his. Her breath ghosts over his skin, warm and even now, and she drifts slowly.

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

He can pinpoint the exact moment where it happens. The way her body softens completely against him, tension fading away. The way her hand goes limp and her cheek nestles just a little closer to his chest.

And just like that, she’s asleep. Peaceful in a way he’s never seen her.

Sylus exhales quietly, a barely-there sound. His hand still strokes gentle, absentminded circles along her back, but his gaze is on her face now—soft in sleep, lashes brushing against her cheeks, lips slightly parted like she’s dreaming something sweet.

He could stay like this forever. She’s beautiful.

Not just in the way she looks—but in the way she trusts him right now, even with her guard down. Even in her sleep. It makes something twist inside his chest. Something he’s not ready to name out loud, but it’s deafening in his mind.

I love her. The thought comes unbidden, raw and terrifyingly clear.

He swallows hard, eyes tracing the line of her nose, the curve of her cheek. His eyes flutter shut for a moment as he presses the softest kiss to the top of her head.

“Sleep well, kitten,” he whispers.

And then, finally—finally—he lets his eyes close too, still holding her in his arms like she's precious.

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

A few hours later, he stirs awake. The room is bathed in gentle morning light, but Sylus’s eyes immediately lock on her sleeping form—peaceful, vulnerable, and so utterly beautiful in the quiet.

He shifts closer, careful not to disturb her calm breathing, and rests his hand lightly on her shoulder.

Her eyes flutter open, meeting his gaze with sleepy warmth, and a small, uncertain smile tugs at her lips.

Sylus clears his throat, something unfamiliar and soft stirring in his chest. He’s never been good with words—never wanted to be—but right now, he tries.

“I… I’m not great at this,” he admits, voice low and rough. “Or at saying what I feel. But… having you here… it feels like something I want to keep.”

She reaches up, fingers brushing over his cheek, encouraging him without a word.

“I’m not going anywhere,” he continues, his voice gaining strength, “if you’ll have me.”

She smiles wider, fells her heart swell, and leans in to press a soft kiss to his lips—a promise and a question all at once.

Sylus smiles back, a little shy, but his eyes gleam with something new.

“Stay,” he whispers, voice barely audible. “Stay with me, sweetheart… please.”

Wrapped in each other’s arms, the morning stretches out before them like a quiet secret—full of hope, trembling beginnings, and a love that’s just starting to bloom.

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

With a low hum, Sylus eventually shifts beside her. He presses a sleepy kiss to her shoulder before carefully untangling himself from her, slipping out of bed.

He stretches—muscles flexing just a little in the morning light—and grabs a pair of sweats off the floor. He tugs them on without much ceremony, then glances over his shoulder.

She’s still curled in the warm blankets, watching him with sleep-heavy eyes and the faintest, most content smile.

“I’ll start breakfast,” he murmurs, voice warm and gravelly from sleep. “You coming, kitten?”

She nods, stretching like a cat, the sheet slipping lower on her bare back. “In a minute.”

He smirks just a little, and then he’s gone—barefoot, shirtless, and already thinking about coffee.

Left alone, she rises slowly and makes her way to his closet. Everything smells like him. Her fingers trail along the row of dark, perfectly arranged shirts until she finds one—plain, soft, and just oversized enough to drown her in it.

She pulls it on, the fabric hanging past her thighs, sleeves too long but perfect. She presses the collar to her nose for a second, heart fluttering, then pads barefoot through the hallway.

The kitchen's ahead—and so is he.

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

The morning air is lazy and golden, filtering in through the kitchen windows like a warm hug. Sylus stands at the stove, barefoot and rumpled, his black t-shirt clinging to his frame in all the right ways. He’s making breakfast—soft scrambled eggs, buttery toast, and strawberries drizzled with honey—because of course he’s that effortlessly capable.

Behind him, she shuffles in, wearing his shirt. It hangs off her shoulders, brushing the tops of her bare thighs, the sleeves far too long. Her hair is still tousled from sleep, and her skin carries faint marks of last night’s closeness. She’s glowing. Soft. Barefoot.

And when Sylus turns around and sees her—eyes sleepy, lips curled in a shy little smile—it almost undoes him.

“Kitten. You’re wearing my shirt,” he murmurs, a little dazed, eyes trailing down with zero shame.

She shrugs with playful innocence. “You weren’t using it.”

He raises an eyebrow, handing her a strawberry. “You planning on giving it back?”

“Not a chance in hell,” she grins, biting into it slowly. She’s definitely teasing him—and he’s definitely letting her.

He watches the way her lips glisten with juice, and his jaw tightens just slightly. She notices.

“What?” she says, feigning innocence.

“You’re dangerous,” he mutters, half under his breath.

She leans across the counter, resting her chin in her hand. “That’s rich, coming from you.”

Their fingers brush when she reaches for another piece of toast, and instead of pulling back, he just… leaves his there. Their hands rest together, warm and easy.

“Can I help?” she asks softly, eyes bright.

“You already are,” he says, a little too sincerely.

That earns him a look—one of those soft, disbelieving smiles that makes his heart ache in the best way. She moves beside him anyway, just to be closer, brushing against him as he plates the food.

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

They sit together at the small kitchen table, knees touching under the tablecloth. Sylus barely eats—too busy watching her talk and laugh like the morning isn’t surreal, like this could just be their new normal.

And when she steals a bite off his plate, grinning like a thief, he pretends to sigh—then leans in, brushing a crumb from the corner of her mouth with his thumb. His touch lingers.

“You missed a spot,” he says, voice low.

“Oh?” she breathes, leaning in, eyes sparkling. “Maybe you should get it next time.”

He does. With a kiss—quick, but full of promise.

She hums against his lips. “Sylus?”

“Yes, sweetie?”

“I think I like waking up with you.”

He smirks, tilting her chin toward him. “Then you’d better get used to it.”

And just like that, their breakfast becomes something else entirely—sweet, flirty, full of stolen touches and quiet, unspoken joy. They still don’t let go.

Not even after the dishes are done.

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

The dishes are stacked neatly next to the sink, but neither of them feels like moving anywhere else. The morning light still bathes the kitchen in that warm glow, soft and golden—like the world is holding its breath just for them.

She’s perched on the counter now, one leg dangling, the other tucked close, wearing his oversized shirt and that shy, nervous smile that always makes his chest tighten. Her hair falls in loose waves around her face, catching the sunlight just right.

Sylus watches her for a beat, slow and steady, before stepping closer. The scent of him—the quiet, smoky cologne mixed with something deeper—wraps around her like a secret.

Without a word, he kneels down in front of her. He pulls the leg she was leaning her head on with him—until he's between both her legs. His fingers lightly rest on her thighs, cool and deliberate. His eyes meet hers, dark and searching, full of all the things he’s not quite ready to say but is showing in every touch.

She catches her breath as his hands start to trace gentle, teasing patterns beneath the hem of his shirt. His touch is slow, reverent—like worshipping something precious.

His lips brush against the inside of her knee, soft and electric, and she shivers, a flush rising to her cheeks.

“This morning’s just getting started,” he murmurs, voice low and rough, “and I’m not going to let you go just yet.”

She smiles, heart pounding, the nervous excitement mixing with something fierce and new. She leans back, letting him take the lead, trusting the heat building between them.

His hands roam, exploring every inch he can reach, while his mouth follows—a slow, delicious promise of what’s to come. He kisses her skin like a secret only they share, breath warm and steady.

Every touch, every whispered word pulls them closer—two souls tangled in something soft, spicy, and utterly real. And in the quiet hum of the kitchen, with sunlight and whispered breaths all around, they find a new kind of morning magic.

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

She braces her hands against the counter, knuckles white, heart thudding wildly as Sylus stays on his knees between her thighs—like it’s the only place in the world he wants to be.

His thumbs draw lazy circles just above her knees, but his mouth is busy trailing heat higher and higher, kissing a line up her inner thigh. Each touch is slow, purposeful—like he’s savoring the way her breath catches with every inch.

He looks up at her through his lashes, crimson eyes dark and burning with something soft and sinful. “You’re shaking, sweetie,” he murmurs, voice a velvet caress. “That for me?”

Her breath hitches. “...Yes.”

A quiet sound escapes him, almost like a growl—but low, pleased, possessive. He leans in again, this time letting his nose graze the edge of the shirt she’s wearing—his shirt—and god, the way it falls off her shoulder, the way she’s already coming undone from just his mouth on her skin?

He presses a kiss just below the hem, hands sliding slowly up her thighs, fingertips brushing the soft edge of her hips.

"You're beautiful like this," he murmurs, kissing her soft flesh again—this time, a little higher. “So responsive. So good for me.”

She whimpers, eyes fluttering closed as her fingers dig into the counter for support. Her legs tense around him, but he only hums, dragging his lips back down her thigh, teasing, tasting, never quite giving her everything just yet—but just enough.

“Sylus…” she breathes, voice trembling, and his name on her lips like that nearly breaks him.

He chuckles softly, wickedly. “Say it again.”

She shivers. “Sylus.”

“Mh. That’s the one,” he murmurs, finally letting his hands slide up her waist to steady her.

And then—then he dips forward again, slow and reverent, like he’s meant to worship her like this.

Soft, aching moans start to fill the kitchen, mixing with the quiet hum of the morning, and she’s melting under his touch—his mouth, his hands, him.

She's falling apart for him.

And he’s still right there—kneeling. Steady. Unmoving. Devoted.

Exactly where he wants to be.

Her breath is coming fast now, broken little gasps that tumble from her lips with every pass of his tongue, every soft groan he lets out against her skin. His hands grip her thighs with just enough pressure to anchor her—like he knows exactly how close she is to shattering.

And god, she's so close.

Her fingers clutch the edge of the counter, her head tipping back, eyes fluttering shut as the tension coils tight—hot and shimmering low in her belly. Sylus doesn’t let up. If anything, he slows down, dragging her higher with each agonizing, perfect swipe of his tongue.

“Please—” she gasps, voice barely there.

He hums against her, one hand moving up to splay out against her stomach, holding her steady as he finally gives her what she needs. It's everything. And it feels like a spark ignites inside her.

She comes with a soft cry, her body arching, hips trembling as wave after wave crashes through her. Her legs tighten around his shoulders instinctively, and he groans, like the sound of her falling apart is his undoing, too.

He doesn’t stop until she’s whimpering from the oversensitivity, pulling at his hair gently, her whole body flushed and spent and shaking.

Only then does he pull back.

Slowly. Deliberately.

He tilts his head, breathing hard, lips slick, his eyes burning with heat and something that looks a whole lot like adoration.

And with the most infuriatingly gorgeous little smirk, he lifts his hand and wipes his mouth—first with the back of it, then he lazily drags the hem of his shirt, still on her, across the corner of his lips.

“Better?” he murmurs, voice rough, still breathless.

She stares down at him, cheeks flushed, chest rising and falling in soft, stunned waves. And then—she grabs his collar and pulls him up, kissing him like she needs him closer, now, right here.

The kiss is messy. Desperate. Deep.

He sinks into it with a groan, one hand cradling the back of her head, the other sliding up her back like he can’t get enough of touching her.

“You’re dangerous,” she breathes when they break apart, foreheads pressed together.

He chuckles, low and wicked. “You’ve got it backwards,” he murmurs. Then he repeats what he said earlier. “You’re the dangerous one, kitten.”

And he kisses her again, softer this time—but it still makes something burn under her skin.

They’re both still a little breathless from the kitchen escapades, and Sylus can’t tear his eyes away as she jumps off the counter, still wrapped in his shirt and flushed with desire.

“Bathroom’s this way,” he murmurs, nodding down the hall as if she hasn't been in his apartment more times than he can count on one hand. His voice is husky—still riding the aftershocks of her finale.

She grins, swaying her hips, fingers tracing his jaw as she plays along. “Lead the way, stud.”

He smirks, taking her hand with a slow, sure grip. “Follow me,” he says, voice low, the heat in his eyes making her heart skip.

They move together down the hall, the air thick with heat and promise. At the bathroom door, he pauses, fingers trailing lightly along her waist. “Ready?”

She nods, her heart fluttering in her chest.

Once inside, they start peeling off clothes—his shirt slipping over her head first, then her fingers tug at the hem of his sweats. With a grin he slides the waistband down low, stepping out of the pants.

Sylus reaches for the shower handle, twisting it until warm water hisses to life. Steam begins to fill the room, wrapping around them like a cozy invitation.

With a shared glance full of quiet promises, they step in together—skin warm, hearts racing, ready to lose themselves in the moment.

The water cascades down, steam curling around them like a secret. She presses against him, warm skin sliding over warm skin, and he wraps an arm around her waist, pulling her impossibly close.

“Think you can handle round three?” he teases, voice low, water dripping from the strands of his hair.

She laughs against his chest, tilting her head back so he can nudge a bead of water from her temple with his lips. “I was made for this, Sylus.”

His hands glide over her arms, down to her hips—gentle but insistent. “Good,” he breathes, tracing soft patterns that make her knees weaken. “Because I’m not going to stop until you beg me to.”

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

The water's still running, adding to the heat. She’s pressed up against the wall now, legs wrapped tight around his waist, fingers tangled in his wet hair. His name keeps slipping from her lips—soft, breathy, needy—and Sylus is unraveling with every sound she makes.

He’s deep inside her, his movements slow but steady, his hands gripping her thighs like they’re the only thing keeping him grounded. His forehead presses against hers, his breath ragged.

“You drive me insane,” he murmurs, voice all gravel and reverence. “Every time.”

Her lips tremble into a smile. “Then why do you keep coming back?”

His rhythm falters just slightly—just enough to make her gasp as he thrusts deeper, harder. He growls against her neck, “Because, sweetheart, I’m already yours.”

She blinks, breath catching—but before she can say anything, he’s right there again, moving with more heat now, more emotion, like something’s boiling over inside him.

“I can’t stop,” he whispers, almost like he doesn’t mean to say it aloud. “I don’t want to stop.”

Their bodies rock together, faster now, more desperate—and then, right at the edge, when they’re both so close they can barely think—

“I love you,” he chokes out, voice breaking. “God—I love you, kitten.”

The words echo between them, raw and sudden. He doesn't even realize he’s said them at first—not until she goes still for half a second, breath catching in her throat, her eyes wide and shimmering in the steam.

He freezes, just barely. His heartbeat slams in his chest.

“…Wait—”He starts to pull back, but then—she kisses him.

Hard. Desperate. Full of everything she’s been holding in.

She wraps her arms around his neck, melts into his mouth like she’s been waiting her whole life to finally tell him without saying anything at all.

He groans against her lips, hands roaming, and then they both fall—together—into that white-hot, shivering release, tangled and trembling and completely undone.

And when it’s over, when they’re still holding each other under the cooling water, breath mingling and lips brushing softly—he fully realizes what he said.

She smiles against his jaw, still breathless. “You love me,” she whispers, like it’s the most beautiful truth she’s ever heard.

And this time, he doesn’t run from it. Doesn’t try to take it back.

“…Yeah,” he whispers, arms tightening around her waist. “I do.”

They don’t move for a moment.

The water keeps streaming over their skin, warm and steady—but they’re both just frozen, chest to chest, breath mingling, still wrapped in that quiet daze of aftershock.

His hands rest on her waist, thumbs drawing slow circles like he needs the contact to believe it all really just happened.

She’s the first to move—barely. Her forehead drops to his shoulder, her lips brushing against his damp skin. “You love me…” she whispers again, like she’s still wrapping her head around the weight of it.

Sylus exhales shakily, eyes fluttering closed. “Yeah,” he murmurs, quieter this time. “I think I’ve loved you longer than I’m ready to admit.”

She smiles into his neck. “That’s okay. You don’t have to admit anything. You just… confessed to me. In literally the most intense way possible.”

He huffs a soft laugh. “I was trying so hard not to let it slip.”

Her hand drifts to his jaw, gently tilting his face toward hers. She looks at him, soft and open and full of everything he’d been so afraid to face—and somehow, that makes it easier to breathe.

“Well,” she says, eyes crinkling. “Now you’re stuck with me.”

His lips tug into that half-smirk she’s always secretly adored. “Good,” he murmurs. “I don’t think I could let you go.”

She leans in, brushing a kiss to the corner of his mouth. “Then don’t.”

And just like that, his mouth is back on hers—slow, lingering, soaked in all the unspoken things that don’t need words anymore. It’s gentler now. Sweeter. Like a new beginning wrapped in everything they already are.

Eventually, the water starts to cool, but neither of them seems to notice. His arms tighten around her. Her fingers rest against his chest like she’s claiming the space over his heart.

And when they finally step out—toweling off, still sneaking shy glances, still brushing shoulders like they can’t stop touching—it’s clear something has shifted.

Not broken.

Just… settled. Finally.

He hands her a clean towel, eyes lingering as she wraps it around herself. “Come back to bed with me?” he asks softly, voice a little raspy now.

She gives him a look. “Sylus, it’s almost noon.”

“I don’t care.” He steps closer, stealing another kiss—lazy and lingering. “You’re mine, kitten. That’s all I care about right now.”

She smiles so hard her cheeks hurt. “Okay,” she whispers. “Then take me back to bed.”

And this time, when he laces their fingers together and leads her there—it’s not just lust or comfort guiding him.

It’s love. Real, undeniable, and finally out in the open.

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

The world outside might be buzzing with noise and duties, but here, wrapped up in the warmth of Sylus’s bed, time feels like it’s slowed down just for them.

She’s nestled against his chest, arms wrapped around his waist like she never wants to let go. His fingers gently trace lazy patterns along her back, soothing and steady, like a silent promise that right here, right now, she’s safe.

His breath is soft against her hair, every inhale a quiet rhythm that calms the fluttering in her chest.

“Hey,” he murmurs, voice low and tender, fingers tightening just a little. “You’re still here.”

She smiles, lifting her head just enough to meet his gaze. “Where else would I be?”

Sylus’s eyes soften, a rare vulnerability flickering through that guarded stare. “Good. I don’t want to be anywhere else either.”

They sink deeper into the pillows, the sunlight fading outside but their little world glowing warmer than ever.

She presses a soft kiss to his collarbone, heart full and peaceful.

“Promise me something?” she whispers, voice small but steady.

His hand finds hers, entwining fingers like they fit perfectly.

“Anything.”

“Let’s stay like this… just for a while. No worries. No pretending.”

He smiles, so real and gentle it makes her heart ache. “Deal. I’m not going anywhere.”

And in that quiet space between them—wrapped in soft blankets, warmth, and all the words left unspoken—the only thing louder than their steady heartbeats is the comfort of finally belonging.
