Summary:

Roier works for OXXO and finds himself unfortunately in love with the 7/11 employee across the street.

Work Text:

Roier can’t help but stare across the street at the 7/11 employee standing on the sidewalk outside of the doors of the competing store. The man seems to take his breaks outside of the store, regardless of how the summer heat beats down on the blacktop outside of the building. Sometimes Roier can’t help but wonder if the other store doesn’t have a breakroom with as often as he sees the other man outside of the building. Roier can’t help but appreciate the fact that the man takes all his breaks outside, especially when the man moves to tie up his hair and he can catch a sliver of the other man's torso as his shirt rides up with the action.

“¿Qué tipo de cita crees que le gusta?” Roier mindlessly asks as he once again watches the man stand across the street.

“¿Quién?” Quackity asks, from where he was restocking candy in front of the cash register.

“El guy del 7/11.” Roier replies, as he leans against the counter and stares out the window, not daring to take his eyes off the handsome man across the street.

“¿Por qué no vas y hablas con él o algo así?” Quackity offers, not even looking up at Roier.

“No puedo ir cuando estoy trabajando, wey.” Roier replies, rolling his eyes at Quackity’s suggestion.

“Él viene aquí todos los putos días.” Quackity argues, as he stands up from where he had been restocking the candy shelf.

“ Pero siempre eres la que está en la puta registradora, pendejo.” Roier replies, glancing at Quackity again with a slight pout.

“Porque es mi puto trabajo.”

“Deberías dejarme hacerlo.” Roier suggests, hoping Quackity would let him have the excuse to talk to the other man.

“No.”

“¿Por qué no?” Roier argues, crossing his arms.

“Porque I am not letting you mess up my fucking drawer.” Quackity replies, as he moves to stand back behind the register next to Roier.

“Just think about it, culero.”

Quackity rolls his eyes and when Roier glances back over to the store across the street the 7/11 employee is already walking back into his store. Roier sighs as he reluctantly walks to the stockroom in the back of the store to grab something to stock on the shelves.

“He’s coming over here.” Roier screams, as the 7/11 employee approaches the doors to the OXXO.

Roier is surprised when he doesn’t hear a sigh from Quackity or a groan at the idea of having to actually do his job. Roier tears his eyes away from the 7/11 employee approaching the store and looks around for Quackity and is unable to spot the other man. Roier knows that the other man doesn’t like it when he rings out people but maybe Quackity just had to be better about not disappearing when there were employees in the store.

“Puta madre.” Roier whispers under his breath as the door to the OXXO opens and he moves to position himself at the cash register.

“Welcome.” Roier greets as the 7/11 employee enters the OXXO.

The man smiles at him and goes to the back of the store where the drink coolers line the wall. Roier can’t help but watch as the man looks over the selection before he opens a door and pulls out a can. Roier pretends not to be staring as the man approaches the counter.

“Do you not get discounts across the street?” Roier asks, as the man sets his drink on the counter.

“O que?” The man replies, as he tilts his head in confusion.

“You don’t get discounts for working there?” Roier asks, again.

“Oh, I do.” The other man replies, rubbing the back of his neck almost nervously.

“Then, why come here?” Roier asks, as he scans the drink.

“I have been hoping to see someone.” The man replies, looking around the OXXO for a moment.

Roier can’t help but think of Quackity and wherever he is. There is no way that the man was not talking about Quackity with the fact that the man was the one at the register most often. Roier can’t help but feel a bit jealous about the fact that the attractive 7/11 employee was into Quackity.

“Quackity isn’t that great.” Roier remarks, as he takes the money for the drink from the man’s hand.

“Who is Quackity?” The man asks, looking confused as Roier puts the money into the cash register, feeling a bit relieved that the other man gave exact change.

“The normal cashier.” Roier replies, confused at the man’s reaction.

The man looks at him with wide eyes. “Não. Not him. There is another employee who never seems to be at the counter when I am here.”

Roier can help but think about the fact that ever since the 7/11 was built that only he and Quackity had been running the OXXO. He had been taking the opening shift and Quackity took the closing shift, their hours only ever overlapping for a few hours in the middle of the day. The fact they had been struggling to find more employees was not for lack of posters announcing they were hiring but a lack of applicants. Slowly it sinks in that the 7/11 employee was talking about him and he can’t help but feel a bit excited.

“You were looking for me?” Roier teases with a smirk.

“It’s hard to find someone when they seem to be avoiding you.”

“Avoiding you? Never, Gatinho.”

“Gatinho?” The other man asks, raising his eyebrow. “Almost like you want my name, Guapito.”

“ What would I have to do to get your name?”

“Maybe a date?” The 7/11 employee offers.

Roier can’t help but grin before he frowns. “Hay un problema. There is a problem.”

“A problem?” The man asks, seeming concerned and Roier almost feels bad for messing with the man.

“Sí, el problema es tu trabajo.” Roier replies, trying to keep the smirk off his face.

“My job?” The man asks, his eyebrows furrowing again.

“Sí, you work for the competition. We are like Romeo and Juliet. Doomed to be apart but not by our warring families but the corporations that own our souls.” Roier replies, dramatically leaning on his arm as he leans across the counter.

The other man rolls his eyes with a small laugh. “Unlike your family, jobs can be changed.”

“¿Promesa?”

“Claro.”

“Ok, Gatinho.” Roier replies, as he quickly scribbles his number on the bottom of the man’s receipt.

“It’s Cellbit.” Cellbit replies, as he takes the receipt from Roier and grabs his drink from the counter.

“Adios, Cellbit.”

“Adios, Roier.” Cellbit replies, with a smirk.

Roier is confused how Cellbit knows his name without him telling him. Roier momentarily wonders if Quackity had told Cellbit his name before he catches a glimpse of his nametag in his reflection on the glass.

Roier drags his feet as he enters the OXXO. Ever since he found out that they were getting a new employee he had been dreading it. Normally, he could pass the day with Quackity mostly pretending to do his job but with someone being trained he needed to at least act like he was doing his job. The only blessing in the situation was that their manager claimed that the new hire had worked in a convenience store before and should be easy to train. Roier only hoped that fact was true and not someone just inflating their resume.

Roier reluctantly walks through the sliding doors of the OXXO. Taking a deep breath and closing his eyes momentarily as he takes a moment to enjoy the cool air of the store. When Roier opens his eyes he is surprised to see a familiar face standing in a red OXXO shirt.

“Hola, Gatinho.” Roier greets, walking closer to the other man. “What is it with your new shirt? Did you want to match me?”

Cellbit lets out a small laugh. “Maybe or maybe I decided I wanted to switch what store I worked for.”

“Oh, was it the discount or my charming good looks?”

“The discount. Obviously, Guapito.” Cellbit replies with a smirk.

Roier knows Cellbit is teasing him but he can’t help but dramatically place his hand over his chest and gasp dramatically. “And to think I wanted to go out with you.”

“I think there is still time for my mind to be changed.”

“I think that can be arranged after we are done for the day.” Roier replies with a wink.

“I am looking forward to it, Guaptio.” Cellbit replies.

Roier holds out his hand to Cellbit and the man doesn’t hesitate to grab it. Without hesitation he is dragging Cellbit into the stockroom to show him where they keep all the supplies. He can’t wait to annoy Quackity with Cellbit when the other man finally arrives for his own shift later in the day.
