Chapter 1: Sky: The Bomb Threat

Chapter Text

After being stranded in Sky's Lanayru region, the Chain travel through a series of tunnels to take a shortcut to the Faron region. During their journey, they hear something suspicious up ahead...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sky had taken the front again, keeping an eye out for any signs. There was another ‘Faron Woods’ sign only ten minutes away from where they were, but that was it. At least the path was linear.

It was a while before he heard someone quicken their steps and join him in the front. Twilight subtly put a hand in front of Sky, causing him and the rest of the group to pause.

“Pretty far ahead, but it sounds like growling or something,” the rancher warned.

            “A lot?”

            “Not sure yet.”

Sky nodded, pulling out his sword and gesturing for the group to follow him. Their usually loud steps were noticeably quieter as they trekked onward. It took longer than expected before he heard a faint growling in the distance as well. It was on and off, a little deep. Despite being closer to the sound, Twilight looked more hesitant.

“Uh… kinda sounds like snoring?” he finally said. “Just one, I think. Doesn’t seem all that big, but it could be a trap.”

Sky nodded, listening and waiting. Just one, huh? His bokoblins weren’t all that bright – he doubted it was a trap. His suspicion only grew when they turned a small bend, and four very obvious lights ahead lit up a very obvious hole in the wall. There was a lot of light coming out of the hole as well.

“I have an idea,” Sky said quietly, pulling out his beetle.

            “What’s that?”

With a small grin in response to Wind’s question, he pointed it towards the hole and launched it. As the beetle soared ahead, Sky checked his wrist. Above the beetle gauntlet was a green display, courtesy of Lanayru’s ancient technology. While he didn’t get a clear picture like Wild’s slate could make, he could see where the walls and any moving creatures were.

“Cool!” Wind whispered, jogging to his side just before the rest of the group started crowding around him. “You totally gotta show us this later sometime!”

Sky chuckled, tilting his wrist and letting the beetle enter the small opening. There was one more snore before it suddenly stopped. At the same time, he realized the creature his beetle was flying towards was kind of skinny for a bokoblin…

“Gahhh! Get out ‘a here, get out!”

A couple pots came flying out of the hole before there was a crash. The green display above Sky’s wrist brightened as his beetle replaced it, the glow disappearing as his beetle settled back on his wrist.

“Hey! HEY! I got bombs in here, and I ain’t afraid to use ‘em!”

Sky instantly jumped ahead of the group, running towards the open hole when he recognized the voice. “Whoa, whoa, don’t! It’s me, Sk— Link!”

“Eh? Link? That you pal?” Ahead of him was the red-haired mogma treasure hunter, Ledd. He was indeed holding a bomb bag above his head before he quickly hid it away. “Well, why didn’t ya say something earlier?”
