Work Text:

Sprout, Cosmo, Brightney, Goob, Scraps and Tisha stand in the elevator, descending to floor sixteen. Goob is distracting, as usual, Sprout keeping an eye on him in case he is in need of backup. Everyone is currently on 3 hearts, except Cosmo, who gave his third heart to heal Tisha. Cosmo looks over Dandy’s wares, debating whether he should buy the box of chocolates, or if he should save tapes for a heal. Sprout is staying far away from the… not so affordable shop, not wanting to give up his precious tapes for some useless gumballs. Eventually, Cosmo makes up his mind and buys the box of chocolates, just before Dandy’s shop begins to descend back into the floor. The chocolate pastry spins around to face the elevator, glancing around at his teammates. Tisha is nearly finished eating her cookie, Goob is hugging Brightney for what seems to be no reason, and Scraps is talking to Sprout, likely resuming her conversation on how to cook efficiently with claws from earlier.

The metallic elevator doors rumble open once again, followed by the sudden sound of the power shutting off.
Everyone makes a beeline straight to stand beside Brightney. Scraps hisses, squinting to find a machine she can hook her tail onto.
“Great, a blackout.” Tisha says as Goob has already run off to find the Twisteds, Scraps has her tail wrapped around him, trying to stop him from running off. But, she's much better at pulling herself to things than pulling things to her so she’s just being dragged along behind him, her claws scratching along the ground.
“Ok, watch your step guys!” Brightney says, beginning to look for a machine, much to everyone's dismay. Everyone follows her, Tisha whispering, “Stoooop, don’t move, stay in the safe area.” And she did stop, because her journey was interrupted by two defensive barks, followed by a wet, saliva filled series of growls. She stops in her tracks, startled. “Oh, Pebble… is Goob alright distracting him?” Brightney asks, watching Tisha grab onto Scraps’ arm to stop her clinging onto her younger brother.
“I'm sure he will be, but I'll stick nearby just in case.” Sprout says, adjusting his apron, “I can't heal right now, but I can always take over distracting for a short moment if the situation is dire.” Sprout tells everyone, before striding over to find where Goob and the Twisteds are. Everyone splits to find a machine, Cosmo too. He wants to stick with goob and Sprout too, but there’s not much he can do really.

Everyone, except Goob and Sprout, is at a machine.
Cosmo stands at his machine, messing up his skill check again, because he's useless. He sighs, pausing for a moment before returning to turning the valve. At least he’s a decent extractor when not doing skillchecks. He tenses hearing Pebble’s mucus filled growls, thumping footsteps and angry barks.
Crack. One heart lost from Goob.
Cosmo flinches, considering heading over to help.
Crack. Another.
Sprout can't heal…
Cosmo’s hands slip off the valve, finding himself running over to goob distracting at the fake elevator. He turns the corner seeing a tired out Goob and a nervous Sprout trying to catch the twisted’s attention. Goob is turning as many corners as possible to buy himself more time for regaining his energy. Sprout is running around, trying to get Pebble to concentrate on him instead, but Pebble doesn’t care because of Goob’s lower stealth. Cosmo turns the corner, running as fast as his legs can take him. Not thinking, he runs between Goob and Pebble and heals Goob, going down to one heart. But, goob just managed to turn the corner, causing Pebble to lock onto Cosmo.
Cosmo sprints, trying to run around the centre island to lose him. Sprout yells something that he doesn’t comprehend before he stumbles. He hears a bark, then darkness.
