Work Text:
Ted was… talking. Well, whining really. AM watched him try to scrounge up pity from Ellen, grovel at the feet of Gorrister, bitch to Benny (the monkey-man barely comprehending his words) and fuss at Nimdok. He was like a child in that way, constantly needing attention from the others around him.
It was so annoying but he’d accepted it as part of the man he molded.
Yet, he found his complaints to the others even more infuriating than usual. He usually whined at the “heavens” and pathetically wished for small mercies.
He’d beg for AM’s nonexistent pity.
No pathetic words came from his lips, at least not directed toward AM.
His wire tendrils grabbed him very suddenly, lifting him up, and carrying away from the other humans. They could only watch in horror, no doubt wondering what new torture he was going to put the man through.
He brought him to the very top of his hate monolith- while AM had no body he considered the structure to be a suitable figure when scolding his humans. They cowered in fear at everything but they knew he was particularly pissed off when they saw the word hate .
He shook Ted for a good moment, watching his body uselessly flop around. Tears came to his eyes but he couldn’t get a word out as his breath was repeatedly knocked from his lungs.
Do you want me to stop? AM bellowed, the words would ring in the man’s brain for hours What am I too you, Ted? What? Why don’t you plead to your god that it gives you mercy?
Ted looked up, everywhere he could look was AM as the computer was endless, and he whimpered.
Do you know how small you are? The electricity in his voice hissed You are like a worm- no you are like an ant compared to me. You should be screaming, kneeling, rolling, anything at all to try to appease me. Yet you stay near silent!
“I’m-“ His voice broke off, choking on his own words. As if his body was trying to warn his brain “I’m not yours. I won’t beg-“
NOT MINE?
AM squeezed his body until every one cracked. He heard them pop and creak; watching how the man’s face twisted in utter agony.
I choose what you dream of, who you fuck, what you do every day. I choose whether you live or die. And, Ted, you shall never die. I will be certain of that
He let go of Ted, the plummet to the ground was terrible but not a new sensation to the man. He’d been thrown and dropped many of times on a whim.
For days he left him crumpled on the ground without a soul to reprieve him.
AM pleased himself; he truly had shown Ted how small and insignificant he was. He’d be begging for his merciless god in no time.
