The morning after and the effects of alcohol on Barry's heart

Summary:

When Barry wakes up the next day, he has to deal with a hungover Hal... Things turn out better than Barry thought they would.

Work Text:

The next morning when Barry wakes up, the first thing he hears is a dry bang followed by a groan.

He doesn't hesitate to stand up and runs until he reaches his room.
He barely opens the door to find a Hak slumped on the floor, holding his head while his nose would not stop bleeding.

Barry blinks before running quickly for his medicine cabinet, when he returns Hal is already sitting on the floor, one hand holding his nose as he throws his head back leaning against the bed behind him.

Barry sighs, sitting down next to him, as he takes his hand away from Hal and begins to wipe the blood that drips from his nose.

“How did you hit your nose?"

“I fell out of bed," he explains, whimpering as Barry presses the cotton ball into his nose.

"Did you fall on your face?" asks the blond with some mockery to which Hal snorts annoyed and denies.

"I fell out of bed, hit my head and when I tried to climb back up I hit my nose with the base.” Barry snorts, amused and worried.

"I don't think you broke your nose," he whispers. “It's probably just swollen from the punch, but that should go down over the course of the day."

“The boys are going to think I fought again," he groans dramatically. It's all the fault of the damn alcohol.

"At least we agree on something," the blond whispers while smiling at me. If you hadn't drunk so much, maybe you wouldn't have fallen out of bed or made a fool of yourself last night.

"Did I make a fool of myself?" he asks worriedly. “Hell... Did I do something to you, Bar?”

Barry smiles with an amused air as he shakes his head and presses a little harder to make Hal squeal.

"You just tackled me and gave me faded flowers," he whispers as Hal moans with flushed cheeks and Barry laughs delighted at the image.Rarely can he see Hal so embarrassed, and Barry admits that Hal looks absolutely adorable.

"You also kissed my hand and started flirting with me in a very brazen way.” Hal snorts as he crosses his arms and lets Barry continue wiping his nose.

"What did I say?"

"You said I was too beautiful, even when I'm upset with myself, that if you were my alpha we'd have ten kids by now, that you can forgive me anything, and that I look beautiful with flushed cheeks." Hal nods solemnly.

"Well, then I didn't make a fool of myself.” Barry raises an eyebrow and turns to Hal with clear skepticism.

"Didn't you?" he mocks openly, the alpha snorts and widens his smile.

"To tell the truth is not to make a fool of yourself," he replies firmly. “I didn't tell any lies, I just said something that I think being drunk or sober, that's an absolute truth.”

Now it's Barry who blushes and whimpers in embarrassment.

"Shut up, Hal," he gasps, still wiping his nose. “Shut up Hal.”

"Could you try to shut me up?" he proposes, taking Barry's hand to push it away from his face.

“I think there are good methods for you to do it.”

Hal slightly approaches him with a beautiful, dazzling smile that causes Barry's chest to burst into flames.

"Yes," he replies seriously. “For example, you could put a tape in your mouth or a bag.”

"You're cruel to this poor man, Bar," he snorts with a long sigh too dramatic for Barry's liking who giggles. “But I forgive you.”

"Thank you for doing so," he murmurs as he stands up and leaves Hal with a cotton ball holding his nose. “We have to have breakfast, Hal... We have to eat, change, bathe, and then change to return.”

Hal nods, barely able to stand up as Barry runs back to the kitchen and begins to move.

He opens the refrigerator, pulls out a couple of eggs and bacon, moves to another cabinet and looks for bread, but before he can move any more hands wrap around his waist and pull towards him before leaning his head against his shoulder.

Barry is startled and tries to turn around, but the hands around his waist prevent him from moving.

"My head hurts," Hal complains childishly, pressing his face against Barry's shoulder, as if sniffing him hard. “And my nose hurts, Bar.”

"You shouldn't have drunk that much, Hal," he scolds him, but Hal snorts.

"Don't blame me, Bar… I was bored and so lonely.” Barry rolls his eyes, snorting hard.

He can't get mad at Hal even though he'd really love to. So he just lets Hal sit there while Barry finishes making breakfast for both of them.

Once he puts it on the counter, he feels that Hal finally stops hugging him only to look at him with a funny, mischievous smile.

"Is it for me?" he croons in a childish tone, Barry playfully shakes his head and reaches out to remove it, but Hal takes it faster to take it away.

Barry groans accusingly. "That was mine."

“Bar, honey, it's important to share with the less fortunate," he claims, sitting on the bar as if that were his lifelong place.

"I'm sure you don't fall into that category," Barry demands, putting his hands on his hips. “And I'm pretty sure you earn more than I do.”

"That doesn't mean I spend it on useful things.” Barry snorts, pretending to be upset, but he can't be when he sees Hal practically moaning when he takes his first bite.

Barry hates to admit it, but it's nice to have someone having breakfast with him, enjoying his meal before chatting about something Barry doesn't quite understand.

Barry admits that he would like to have more breakfasts like this.
