Work Text:
Adri was kind, funny, cute, cool, and unremittingly accommodating. She was the greatest friend Angel could possibly ask for.
The problem was that they’ve known her for all of seven days and they were already on the verge of completely screwing it all up.
It came gradually, quietly, and it was already too late to turn back by the time they realized what it was. Angel Martinez found themself struck by romance much like a frog in a pot finds itself struck by boiling water. Heat pooling in their cheeks at the faintest excuse, a flutter in their heart whenever her skin made contact with theirs, metaphorical butterflies flapping around in their metaphorical stomach – and the much less metaphorical sensation of gnawing dread telling them that this was not going to end well.
Baseless anxiety? Perhaps. But there could be no guarantee that Adri held the same affection for them, no insurance in the painfully likely case that she simply didn’t see them that way. To confess would be to leap off a sheer cliff with no rope or parachute and pray for a soft landing. Angel could probably survive the shock of rejection – but what then? What of the rapport they’ve built with her, the friendship, a friendship the likes of which they have never had before?
Were they really so… for the lack of a better word, easy? Being treated as an equal, being casually accepted for who they are – was that really all it took for them to fall heads over heels like some hormonal teenager, to be so hopelessly inundated with an emotion they could’ve hardly even hoped to experience before?
These thoughts and a myriad more followed Angel like an incessant swarm of bloodthirsty mind-mosquitoes as they made their way to Adri’s place, one unsteady step after another. Their hand hovered over the doorbell, halted for a second or two by irrational hesitation [she is expecting you, she wants to hang out with you, pull yourself together Angel] before finally ringing the bell. The sound of rapidly approaching footsteps could be heard from the other side, culminating in Adri swinging the door wide open.
“Ange-e-e-e-l!” she exclaimed, beaming her customary joyful grin. “I’m so glad you could find the time to come over! Though you’re actually kinda early .”
“I, uh, overcompensated,” Angel explained sheepishly. “Is that bad?”
“No no no, not at all!” she hastily reassured them. “Come in!”
Angel followed Adri into her apartment – cramped, meagre, and yet so distinctly Adri, saturated with her personality from floor to wall to ceiling. Though seemingly strewn about at random, the posters and decorations and personal items coalesced into a harmonious whole, forming a colour palette that was simultaneously garish and muted, pastel and gothic, the girl herself being its prominent centerpiece.
They wished they could pull off the kind of look that she does so effortlessly.
“So then, my fellow shorty,” she began, spinning around and leaning in conspiratorily, “what do you wanna do today?”
…leaning in much too close, by the way.
“I… was hoping you’d answer that question for me,” Angel conceded, trying their best not to melt into the carpet from the sheer proximity to the person they had a hopeless crush for.
“Ooh, alright then!” Adri replied, infallibly chipper. “I guess we’ll just have to skip to the good part.”
Without much warning, Angel found themself seized by the hand [oh god] and dragged deeper into Adri’s abode, straight to the bedroom [oh god] – in which a space had seemingly been cleared out in preparation for some grand project.
“So I’ve had this idea for a while now and I really really wanna give it a try but I’m not gonna force you to go along with it if you don’t like it cuz I don’t wanna make you uncomfortable or anything so–”
“Adri. The short version, please?”
“Ah. Yeah. The plan is, I wanna give you a makeover!”
“A makeover? ” Angel parroted with abject disbelief.
“Wasn’t it you who told me ‘I wish I had your confidence’ a few days ago?” she said, lowering the tone of her voice to match that of Angel’s when quoting them. “If you want to have confidence, you just have to seize it! Seeing yourself differently will help you feel about yourself differently. Meanwhile I get to dress you up in cute outfits. Everybody wins!”
“Hmm, well… I guess I have no reason to refuse,” they mused. “Sure!”
“Now that’s what I like to hear!” said Adri, somehow even more giddy than she usually was. “You have no idea how much I wanted to do this. Just sit down and I’ll get everything ready. I guarantee you won’t regret it!”
Any time spent with her was time Angel couldn’t possibly ever regret.

“All done, cutie! Now go have a look at yourself!”
It had been a steady, comfortable process, Adri fussing around them like an overexcited ferret [ferret???], taking plenty of creative liberties but always asking for their input in every detail. Angel had the faint suspicion that they were essentially acting as a guinea pig for the girl’s fashion experimentation – but whatever doubts they had were completely dispelled when they stood in front of the full-body mirror and examined themself.
In short, they were barely even recognizable.
Gone was the meek Angel, the blending-in-with-the-crowd Angel, the Angel who could only afford themself a can of hair dye’s worth of individuality – they looked sharp, stylish, and most importantly they looked in control. Though all the layers and accessories – not to mention the makeup – felt rather overwhelming at first, they saw now that it all contributed to a singular definitive style, a style that not only retained their personality, but amplified it into something more.
“Woah. This is… I can’t even– Where did you even find this?” Angel asked, pointing in particular at the clasp-on earring depicting a snow-white bunny in the midst of a grand leap.
“Oh, that? I just saw it while doing my shopping and I was like ‘omigosh this is SO Angel’ and bought it on the spot! You like it?”
“Of– of course I do! I… I’m just standing here and I’m thinking, is this really me? ”
“Well this is the new you, silly!” said Adri, standing beside Angel and wrapping her arm around their shoulders. “You can be anything you want, really, but this is as good a start as any. How do you feel about yourself right now?”
“I feel… better,” Angel affirmed with little hesitation. “Definitely better.”
“Great! So then, what will you do first with your newfound confidence? The world is your oyster, Mx. Martinez!”
Though they gave it some thought, they knew deep down that the answer was right in front of them.
“Hey, Adri?” they called, making her turn to face them, still holding onto them with one hand. “I just want to say, I… I’m really glad to have you as a friend. You’re, like, the coolest person I’ve ever met, and you’ve helped me grow in ways I couldn’t have even imagined. I’m really grateful for this. For all of this.”
“Aww, don’t even mention it!” Adri replied with a radiant smile, pulling Angel in for a tight hug. “Any time, any place, I’ll make you as stylish as you deserve to be!”
They could’ve just left it at that. Friends. No need to take risks, just keep the status quo, just keep what makes you happy instead of betting it on a gamble and potentially losing everything. Simple and reliable. Certainly, it’s what the old Angel would’ve done.
But the new Angel?
“Also I think I have a really big crush on you.”
The phrase, uttered quickly and in a breathless whisper, didn’t even seem to fully register in Adri’s brain for the first second or two. She blinked. Then, her expression morphed into that of utter incredulousness. For all intents and purposes, she was gobsmacked – but less by the revelation itself and more by how boldly Angel proclaimed it. Finally, she settled on a smug, faintly sultry Cheshire-like grin.
“Oh? Is that so? For how long?” she asked in a teasing tone, stepping closer to leave very, very little space between her and them.
“Since… since the beginning, almost,” Angel managed to reply, their voice becoming rapidly more strained, their gaze hopelessly locked onto Adri’s plump lips.
“Well this is some really interesting news, hmm?” she spoke, reaching over a hand to play with Angel’s hair, coiling it around her finger.
Adri revelled in the control she held over them, the seductive power that she could wield – but she quickly realized that her advances were having the wrong effect entirely. Angel’s anxiety was beginning to get the better of them; they were shutting down instead of reciprocating.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” she asked, tactfully backing off. Her face showed genuine concern.
“N-no, it’s nothing, I’m sorry, it’s just– I–” Angel sputtered before letting out a sigh of resignation. “I can’t be confident. I can’t do this. I’m– I’m so scared. Of losing you.”
Adri felt a sharp sting somewhere in her heart.
“Angel. Look at me, Angel,” Adri said softly, holding them by the shoulders. “Don’t worry about it, okay? There’s nothing to worry about. This doesn’t have to be some big important thing that changes everything. We’ll still be friends no matter how it goes.”
“W-we will?” Angel asked, hope creeping into their tone.
“Of course! Make up , make over, make out, what’s the difference am I right?”
“Haha, yeah, I– I guess so,” they conceded, feeling the tension in their chest gradually unwind. “Wait, does that mean you– feel the same way about me?”
“Why wouldn’t I?” said Adri, like it was something painfully obvious. “Now c’mon tiger, I’m right here. Kiss me. Kiss me like you mean it.”
Well, they could hardly resist if she was saying it like that.
All caution successfully thrown out the window, Angel grabbed Adri by the waist and pulled her in to lock their lips with hers [holy shit holy shit this is happening], their complete lack of experience masked by sheer desire and desperation. She tasted like nicotine and heaven. Her skin, her smell, her sweat – they wanted more of it, wanted it now.
“ Fu-u-u-ck, Angel, ” she moaned, “you don’t even understand how fucking hot you are right now–”
“ Yeah? I am? ” they replied, the girl’s words stoking the flames of that unmistakable heat pooling in their stomach.
The action was subsequently moved to the bed – their hands wandering freely across her body as hers did in return, hurrying to peel off all those obstructing articles of clothing. The sight of Adri’s pert breasts freed from the confines of her bra was enough to completely shut down Angel’s higher brain function.
“Sweetie, you look like you’re about to have a heart attack,” she noted with overt amusement. “Pace yourself.”
“Easier s-said than done when you’re seeing w-what I’m seeing,” Angel retorted, their hands shaking and their breath growing ever more erratic.
Unsatisfied with this response, Adri took control by flipping the two of them around, her body pressing theirs into the mattress, bare skin on bare skin. Still, as nonchalant as she appeared to be, Angel could feel her heartbeat racing just as fast as their own.
“Just relax, alright? Let me take care of you.”
First, she touched their cheek, giving them a fleeting, tantalizingly romantic kiss. Then her hand slid slowly downwards, fingers tracing across their neck, then chest, then stomach, then–
“Mmh– aah–! ”
“Sensitive, hmm?” Adri teased, her breath on Angel’s ear making them shiver just by itself.
“I– I’ve never– It’s my first– ah! ”
“I can work with that~”
Adri knew exactly what she was doing, one thumb resting on that coveted little button while her fingers slipped deeper into Angel’s heat, drawing from them the most wonderful sounds. Though she had clearly done this before, to them it still felt… special. Intimate in a way nothing else can be. When they said as much, Adri just giggled and kissed them again.
“Life’s too short to worry about every little thing,” she spoke sagely as she continued to finger the life out of them. “If we like each other, and we can make each other feel good, then why not do just that?”
As much as Angel wanted to reciprocate, the best they could do was pawing clumsily at Adri’s oh-so-desirable tan body, burying their face in the crook of her neck and inhaling that sweet aroma of vanilla and strawberry and god knows what else. Their mind was practically melting into a puddle [yes yes yes don’t stop please I love you], rational thought sidelined in favour of adoration and arousal, love and lust, two pure, primal emotions mixing into something profound and all-encompassing.
If they were to perish at this very instant, it would’ve been a life well lived.
After what felt like countless hours of this sweet, sweet torment, Angel realized they were approaching their limit – that tension down below growing and growing until it reached the breaking point, the point of sudden, thunderous release.
“ Adri– I’m– I’m about to–! ”
One more kiss was all it took. Angel’s mind exploded into noise and static, legs locking together and hips buckling, whole body trembling with the aftershocks, moaning unabashedly into her mouth as her hand worked expertly to wring them dry, every last scrap of pleasure taken by her, belonging to her. When it came to an end, Angel found themself panting and shaking like they’ve just run a mile, like they’ve just walked through the eye of the storm, like they’ve just been reborn.
Adri, meanwhile, just looked at them with the somewhat haughty satisfaction of a job well done.
The first coherent thought in Angel’s mind was to thank her, to convey their immeasurable gratitude for this experience, but not through words, not through mere sound – through the most direct method imaginable. With this newfound resolve, they pushed her down onto her back and repositioned such that their head was now betwixt her shapely thighs, onto which they grasped for purchase as they prepared to, through sheer audacity, perform cunnilingus with zero prior experience.
Can’t be much harder than kissing, right?
Pushing aside the Hello Kitty-brand panties [how the hell am I in love with this ridiculous woman?] and giving themself a few blissful seconds to behold the sight of Adri’s bare vagina, Angel went right in and began peppering it with licks and kisses, eliciting from her a titillating assortment of gasps and shuddering moans. But they wanted more. They wanted to hear her come. They wanted her to scream their name.
“H-holy shit, Angel, you’re– a-ah– way too good at this,” she spoke, resting a hand on their hair, her grip gradually growing tighter and tighter.
Certainly, the process was going so smoothly by virtue of Angel possessing the exact same bit of reproductive anatomy and thus knowing at least vaguely what to do with it, but figuring their way around Adri’s hot, wet folds was an adventure in and of itself. They’d half-expected it to smell like some silly fragrance straight off the shelves of Victoria’s Secret, but no – there was only the raw, intoxicating scent, the cocktail that served to drive them utterly mad.
So it was that they worked with lovestruck fervour, often forgetting to breathe, pushing their tongue in as deep as they could make it go – the flavour of Adri searing itself into their taste buds forever – and every little sound she made was music to their ears, notes in a symphony that they were the conductor of, bringing it closer and closer to a violent crescendo.
They knew it happened when her legs locked around them like a vice, her hand pressing down to practically bury them in her groin, an orgasm of such violent intensity that her entire lower torso momentarily went airborne. She said something in what sounded suspiciously like Spanish, but the only word Angel could make out from it – see: being crushed by her thighs – was their own name.
Mission accomplished.
The rest of the evening was spent doing absolutely nothing except cuddling, the shared warmth of their bodies sufficing in place of any words. Angel was happy, happier than they could’ve possibly ever imagined, their thoughts reduced to a hazy, joyful blur. This, right here, with her – if it wasn’t heaven, it was certainly close to it.
“Same time tomorrow?” eventually asked Adri with the tone of somebody who knew exactly what that ‘tomorrow’ would entail.
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
And miss it they did not.
