Nothingness and warmth are what I was rudely shaken awake from. The perpetrator was my boyfriend Steve who instantly was pushing my shoulder telling me to wake up mumbling something about my communicator. I take a minute to take in my surroundings still not used to them. My new position meant I qualified for a single 10x8 room. No more sharing a bathroom with three other people. No more having to deal with the smell of burned noodles, seriously how can a full-grown `human manage to constantly burn noodles? I considered reporting my former roommate to medical for possible brain worms since that is the only possible reason. My room was still very bare, my only belongings fitting in a single small storage crate. Steve and I were waiting on the official approval for him to move in with me but even then Steve tends to fill spaces more with his big personality than actual belongings. I have never lived alone, going from living in my parent's quarters to the adult's dormitory. I am startled from my thoughts when my com goes off again. I remember what Steve said and checked it. In a panic, I realized I had missed 23 messages from my new colleague, Erin. Reading quickly through the gist I need to get myself to my office as soon as possible. I quickly respond with the gist of “Sorry dude was sleeping, on my way now” but in a much more formal and professional way. I rush to the closet and toss on the first uniform I see. Make sure there is no coffee stain or random rabbit fur on it downside to dating someone who works with the rabbits), toss a piece of dental gum in my mouth, give Steve a quick kiss, and head out the door.
