Work Text:

-ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ-

Despite being pretty young for a teacher, Izuku likes to think he has managed to gain the respect as an educator from his students and his co-workers. He gets along well with his former teachers and even is able to give pep talks to the newer teachers that come through.

He's decently in the middle of being experienced but not being a complete pro.

Izuku is completely fine with that. Aizawa is a pro, Izuku is a baby bird who just learned how to fly.

Still, even with a bit of a confidence boost thanks to Katsuki, Izuku makes one of the biggest mistakes a teacher could make. He left his phone in the classroom when he went to grab copies for the class.

Now class 2-A is generally respectful, if you don't count them overthrowing a guest hero when they were bored during their training camp. And especially if you don't count Hayami, Higurashi, and Kimura in every single thing they do. It seems that their favorite hobby is to purposely spite any sense of authority they come across

His kids were good, great even.

But that was wishful thinking. Izuku knew quite well that teenagers, yes, even heroes in training teenagers, are ready to take the piss out of anyone and everyone .

It happened with a simple tap on his phone screen. He never locks it, never having the need to hide anything away. Even if he did, Katsuki would find his way through the phone anyways. This simple show of trust was now used against him by his students.

By the time he found his phone and returned to the teacher's office for lunch, the chaos was already set in motion without him realizing.

It starts with the endless buzzing of his phone. They start slow but keep coming in waves as Izuku tries to speak to the other staff about a new training exercise.

“I was thinking we could have some more guest heroes- ah, I'm sorry, can you wait a second?” Izuku mumbles and reaches for his back pocket where the vibrating phone sits.

Aizawa’s face is buried in his scarf, but he nods, glancing over to his husband who had already abandoned the conversation about work. “I'll speak to Nezu about guest passes.”

“Great, thank you Aizawa sensei.”

“Not your teacher.” Aizawa grumbles the reminder before walking back to his desk to leave Izuku with the chaos phone. He feels a bit of shame, like a teenager who ignored a parent for the internet.

Shaking his head, he goes to open his phone only for Mina’s Contact to pop up. Stepping out, he swipes the answer button and puts it to his ear.

“Hi Mina, is something up?” Izuku asks, happy to hear from her but a little confused. They mostly talk over Katsuki's phone when Katsuki pawns it off the second he can’t handle her anymore.

“You didn't tell me!” Her voice blasts through the speaker, nearly taking out Izuku's ear drum. Her tone is filled with utter betrayal as Izuku stammers for a second in shock.

“I thought we were all friends Izuku!  How could you do that without telling anyone? What would Katsuki say?”

“What? Mina! Calm…calm down please!” Izuku stammers, unable to clear his head at the sudden force of the anger Mina throws his way. What would Katsuki think? What does that mean?

Mina huffs on the other side of the phone. “I’m talking about you and your WIFE. When did you get married? How come I wasn't invited? What about Bakugou? You know he's in love with you right?”

“My wife?” Izuku questions with a small laugh but Mina is having none of it. It takes a solid second for him to realize she's not joking. “Mina, I don't have a wife. I'm not married. “

“Have you looked at your socials, Deku?” She asks.

Humming, he pulls the Phone from his ear. Clicking on Twitter he pulls it up and….

Fuck.

Millions of comments, news sources and everything have seen that his relationship status have changed to married. What's worse is he rarely posts anything, so the change was alerted to everyone.

Everyone.

“Mina, I'll call you back.” He mumbles, hands shaking as he clicks on one of the articles already made. Right there on the trending page in bold lettering…..

Mrs. Deku, just who is she?

There's an impending feeling of doom in his gut when he comes to the realization that people now know he's in a relationship. There's a worse feeling creeping up in his gut when he realizes he's going to have to explain to Katsuki that he is Mrs. Deku.

“All might help me.” He murmurs, holding his phone to his chest. Taking a long breath, Izuku calms his mind down using breath techniques before trying to think of a solution.

He could quickly switch them back and explain the entire thing, but Izuku knows how the media is. They'll just think he's lying to save face.

Oh god what if Katsuki sees? The thought is mortifying all on its own.

“I'll switch them back and then teach those troublemakers a lesson.” He mumbles to himself, making his way back to the 2-A classroom.

༻❁༺

Stepping towards the large classroom doors, Izuku takes a moment to collect his thoughts. He's never been quick to anger like Katsuki or fast enough to give out punishments like Aizawa.

How do you discipline students for a harmless prank? Surely, he can't let them get away with it without any fallback.

Opening the doors as confidently as possible, he walks into the 2-A class as they sit on their desks and giggle at their phones in little groups.

Scanning the room as he makes his way to the front, he eyes Hayami who's sitting on top of Kimura's desk. Kimura and Higurashi are giggling to themselves while she proudly makes eye contact with Izuku.

She's going to be the death of me , Izuku thinks as he sets his scarred hands on the podium and clears his throat. The teenagers look up, some flinching at the sight of their happy go lucky teacher not smiling.

“I'd like to inform you all that I am not married.” Izuku says shooting the troublemakers a pointed look. “And it's not acceptable to mess with other people's property, and certainly not your teachers.”

“We know you aren't married, teach. Dynamight is too lazy to put a ring on it so we sped up the process for you!” Hayami beams, which sends giggles through the class.

Kimura nods in agreement, the smirk stretched across his face. “Yeah, Mr. Midoriya, I mean technically you act like a married couple already.”

Izuku fought the embarrassment on his face, giving his students the best stern look he could muster. “Dynamight and I are very good friends, not married.”

“Don’t lie to us, teach.” Hayami interrupts, setting her feet on the desk in a way that would have given Iida a heart attack. “We may be young but we aren’t blind. You’re so down bad for him that even stupid Mr. Frost could see.”

Izuku should have a retort to that but instead his mouth opens and closes like a fish out of water. Groaning, he hides his face in his scarred hands as his students giggle and talk about his love life.

They aren't wrong exactly, he and Katsuki have finally made it official in their own way. It felt normal just to not make a big deal out of finally putting a name to what they were.

Still, they need to be punished for doing something they shouldn't have. What would Aizawa do? Izuku thinks to himself, before taking his hands off his face, slamming them down on the wooden podium.

“Everyone outside.” He manages to mutter, his tone deeper and sharper than it's ever been before with his students. “Now.”

The shift made the three troublemakers freeze, the other students all cautiously holding their breath. It's clear they're all thinking the same thing.

Did we push Mr. Midoriya too far?

Izuku guides them out to the training grounds where a false city stands, perfect for all sorts of training. The class gathers together, all mumbling behind his back more freaked out than they cared to admit. Izuku keeps facing forward.

I can't crack, they'll see me as a weak minded teacher, Izuku thinks as he comes to a stop, turning to face his kids with his arms crossed.

“Alright 2-A, since you want to be acting like little villains, I suppose I'll have to treat you like little villains." Izuku starts, letting his eyes scan each and every teen that stands before him.

“I'll give you three seconds. Once the time is up, I'll come for you. You get caught, extra homework, okay?” He smiles though there's nothing warm coming from it this time.

Kimura is the first to speak up, looking a tad bit nervous. “Uh, Mr. Midoriya…what do you mean come for us?”

“Exactly what I said.”

“Wait but when you do find us-”

“Three.”

“Wait! Wait!” Hayami bursts out, laughing nervously as Higurashi tugs her sleeve to make her step back with them. “It was a joke, right guys? Just a joke…”

“Two.”

“Hayami let's go.” Higurashi whispers frantically, looking between the other students who've already taken off and then their trio. “I don't think he's playing.”

Izuku stops for a moment, his face carefully blank.

“One.”

Izuku takes off in a flash, putting the trio in mock jail in under a second.

“Kacchan, I'm home!” Izuku calls out with a heavy sigh as he opens the door to their apartment. Instantly he's hit with the scent of cooking pork, giving him a good idea of what Katsuki is making for dinner tonight.

He steps inside and takes his shoes off, leaving his bag and coat by the door before stumbling his way into the kitchen where Katsuki resides.

The hero doesn't get many days off, but since Katsuki and Kirishima landed the spot they wanted for their agency, Katsuki has been convinced to take at least a day a week to be off. No extra secret shifts, no trying to kill their friends for the holiday bonus hours.

Sliding into the kitchen chair, Izuku practically deflated on the table, watching Katsuki’s back as he cooked Kasudon.

“The brats give you a rough day?” Katsuki grumbles, not even having to look over to Izuku to see the state the man is in. Izuku hums, turning his head to hide his face in his folded arms.

“I guess….I think I earned a teacher point today from Aizawa though.”

“Oh?” Katsuki grins a little, finally turning to glance at Izuku's frame. “Did you finally grow a pair of balls, Izuku?”

“Don’t be a dick Kacchan.”

Katsuki doesn't look pissed at the insult, instead snickering to himself as he turns to flip the pork in the pan. “So what did Aizawa say?”

“Nothing really. Just gave me a weird thumbs up as I left for the day.” Izuku turns his head to look back at Katsuki.

He does seem more domestic lately , Izuku thinks briefly before feeling his phone vibrate again, a reminder the world is trying to learn who his wife is.

Can I even tell Katsuki? He doesn't have any media of his own , Izuku ponders as he watches Katsuki finish cooking and plating the food. Would he be mad that the world could know about them? About this life they've made for each other?

“Oi, are you even listening to me?” Katsuki huffs, reaching over to chop Izuku's head lightly. Izuku blinks, his cheeks growing red as he realizes Katsuki has been in front of him trying to tell him something.

“Ah, I'm sorry Kacchan. What was it?”

“Foods done, go wash up quickly.” He mutters, before letting out a sharp click of his tongue to go finish cleaning up the  mess before eating.

“Right.”

Izuku goes to wash up quickly, worriedly checking his phone as he enters the bathroom with a fresh change of clothes. Nothing has eased up yet, the internet still losing its mind about anything Mrs. Deku related.

Now fans are going through every interaction he's had with any woman. Some poor female heroes seem to be the more popular choice, thus fan cams being made and shipping wars running rampant.

He doesn't know what's worse, the horrible theories or the stuff they're getting right about his so-called ‘wife.’ Either way, Katsuki is going to be mortified when he finds out.

“Oi Izuku, your food is getting cold! Hurry up dammit!”

Squeaking, Izuku rushes to fix his wet hair and throws some All Might pajama pants on, completely forgoing the shirt. He stumbles out of the bathroom and to the kitchen where Katsuki is waiting as patiently as the man could.

He looks like a ticking time bomb….literally.

Katsuki doesn't look impressed as Izuku clumsily sits down, face still red from the attention his students have caused. Raising a blonde brow, Katsuki watches Izuku with low red eyes.

“What the hell is going on with you?”

“It's nothing, just some…teacher things.”

“Teacher things?” Katsuki echos before looking down at his plate to take a bite. “Right.” He huffs out a bit. A normal person would think that would be the end of the conversation, but Izuku has known Katsuki way too long for that to be the case.

No, Izuku feels his soul leave his body at the pout he receives from Katsuki. Setting his chopsticks down, he gives Katsuki a warm smile. “Kacchan really, it's nothing.”

“Don’t bullshit me, Izuku.” He grumbles, stuffing pork and egg into his mouth. “I know when you're hiding something, nerd. I know when you're mad, upset, embarrassed.” Katsuki lists even with a full mouth.

Taking a second to swallow and drink some water, he turns his head to the side. “Don’t think you can hide anything from me. Not now.”

“Hah…” Izuku loses his breath and will to live. Of course Katsuki would instantly know something is up. It's a known fact that Izuku knew everything about him, but a lesser known fact is that Katsuki was just as obsessed.

It's borderline codependent, but it works for them. Izuku ignores the sudden urge to book them a couples therapy appointment.

“Obviously those brats did something.”

“They did but I handled it.”

“So you admit something did happen.” Katsuki snaps with a glare. Izuku whines in protest, looking up to the ceiling as if to question his life. “It's fine kacchan! Nothing bad hap-”

Izuku cut himself off as his phone went off again. Then again…..and again.

Both men look at the phone silently, then make eye contact with each other. It's quiet enough to hear the clock tick in the background; to hear the neighbors muffled conversation over their own dinner table.

Without warning they both shoot for the phone, but Katsuki was faster, using his quirk to give him a quick boost. “The chairs Kacchan!” Izuku gasps as Katsuki’s chair gets charred a bit.

Katsuki doesn’t care, keeping a tight grip on Izuku’s phone while opening it.

Feeling his heart beat out of his chest, Izuku watches as Katsuki reads the messages, then clicks onto every social media that's blowing up. It's silent….too silent.

“Kacchan..” Izuku says carefully, stepping closer to put a hand on Katsuki's toned arm. “Please don't be mad. They were just pulling a prank.”

“Mad?” Katsuki echos before side eyeing Izuku. He tosses the phone onto the table, using his other hand to tug Izuku closer. “Why would I be mad?” He asks slowly.

“Well…people think I have a wife now.”

Katsuki thinks about it for a moment, looking completely unbothered by the situation. “I mean yeah it pisses me off a little, but it's nothing a small correction can't fix.”

Izuku blinks dumbly for a second. “So you're not mad they're calling you my wife?”

“I’m beyond pissed that people think I'm the wife in this relationship.” Katsuki grumbles. His thumb hooks under the waist band of Izuku’s pajama pants, slowly rubbing a circle into his skin. “What about you Izuku? Need a reminder that I’m still a man?”

Izuku fights the grin on his face as he puts his palms on Katsuki's chest, lightly shoving the blonde away. “You have work tomorrow, Kacchan.” He reminds Katsuki with a shy look.

“So?”

“So don't complain in the morning that you stayed up past your bedtime.”

Katsuki doesn't give Izuku an answer. Instead, the man tugs Izuku's waist band again, pressing a heavy kiss against Izuku's lips.

༻❁༺

Later that night, around three am, Katsuki lays on his side of the bed with Izuku’s back facing him. Katsuki watches with heavy eyes as Izuku sleeps soundly after the time they've just spent together.

He takes time to look at all the evidence that he left, the bites, the hickeys, a suspicious looking Katsuki sized hand print near Izuku’s happy trail. Katsuki almost closes his eyes to join Izuku in sleep when Izuku's phone lights the room up.

Grunting, Katsuki rises from the bed, leaning over Izuku to carefully pick up the phone. It was still open on an article with the headline ‘Mrs. Deku, just who is she?’

Thinking for a long second, Katsuki grins as he lays back down, this time pressing his bare chest to Izuku's back, his arm curling around his stomach to pull him closer.

Resting his chin on Izuku's shoulder, he gives the biggest shit eating grin he can give before snapping a quick photo. Within a minute, it's posted to three platforms with a caption that reads:

Husband*
