Chapter Text
It was just like any other day at a military base near the coastal city of Alamery, California; tanks firing at targets for target practice, training for recruits were happening, and other exercises were taking place. However, one event would change the course of this base and others around the world forever.
“Was ist Los?” asked a Pz. 38 (t) n.A named Friedrich. Everyone was very curious about a letter that appeared in the mailbox of their base, Fort McBenning, that seems to have come from an unknown location. No one knows who would have sent it here, considering there was no name of the sender who sent it. The old general named George McDouglas, the overall commander of the force that made up the base, opened up the envelope and the letter read:
Dear General McDouglas,
I am speaking to you concerning an army from an unknown dimension preparing to invade all of mainland Europe, we don’t know where specifically but we are working on tracking the origin of said army. It seems based on what our intelligence officers can tell and gathered from the Russian High Command, for which they kept track of them since last year, that they’re using a capability that not many armies but yours that can most definitely cause chaos in the frontlines, the giant. Not just any regular 50, 60, or 70 foot giant/giantess with reasonable strength and intelligence that live in sub-rural areas of various countries, I am referring to giants and giantesses being probably as tall as the tallest cathedral in Europe and having twice as more intelligence than the average one, I’ll explain why this is important for the defense of our very own world once you get there.
Signed,
General Cromwell
The general pondered at the letter for a minute, knowing that it had been a while since he had any contact with And after that Staff Sergeant Samuel J. Dawson approached him and asked, “What seems to be the matter General?”
He turned around to face him and then looked at all the other Privates, Sergeants, Lieutenants, Recruits, and the rest at the base then turned back at Dawson. “I need to have a private word with Sergeant,” he said. The old general then led Dawson upstairs to the General HQ room with the others murmuring to each other what this could possibly mean. Once the two made it to the said room, the General spoke, “Sergeant, we are about to head on a trip to Europe and since many of my soldiers really wanted to go there—” “You’re taking all of us to Europe?” Dawson asked.
“Yes,” he replied quietly before continuing, “Now the reason why is actually quite simple, you see...Europe is about to be invaded.”
“Invaded?” Dawson asked, a little surprised.
“Yes,” McDouglas said, “but not by the Russians, or aliens from another planet, but rather an army from an unknown dimension.” He further explained to the Sergeant about the letter he received and handed it to Dawson. Dawson then examined the letter and fell silent soon after, “Dear god…” he murmured after regaining his composure. “I know…” McDouglas replied solemnly, “It would be quite a rough time for us all.”
“Well what are we supposed to do against them?!” Dawson exclaimed.
The general pondered for a while until he snapped his finger in a “Eureka” moment, “I got just the thing, but I’m gonna have everyone here to help.”
“Huh?”
“Yes, everyone here, now come on, let’s move!”
“O-Okay then…” Dawson replied in disbelief of McDouglas’ sudden response.
Eventually when the two returned, everyone was just doing their own things unaware of what would eventually happen.
The old man cleared his throat loud enough for everyone to stop to look at him and listen to whatever he said. He gave a brief speech on the journey they’ll go through to not only save Europe but possibly the entire world from an unknown army from an unknown dimension and they should pack up immediately for it.
So as quick as they could, the men and women of the building packed up their luggage thinking why are they heading to Europe while at the same time, General McDouglas individually picked out the tanks he wanted to take on the trip.
In total he picked out 45 tanks for the trip—some lights, some mediums, a few heavies, some tank destroyers, and a few SPGs. The tanks he picked out are a Hungarian Turán I 40M/41M tank. Three Swedish; a Stridsvagn m/42 (or Lago), a Stridsvagn L-60 and a Spj fm/43-44. Four French; a Renault D2 model 1938, an AMX ELC bis, an AMX 13 90, and a UE-57. Four British; a Cruiser Mk. IV, a Valentine Mk. IV, an Alecto and a Comet. Four Italians; a M14/41, M11/39, a M15/42, and a R3 T20 FA-HS. Seven Germans; a Pz.Kpfw III/IV Ausf. B, a Pz. 38 (t) n.A, an E 100, Pz. II Luchs, a Neubaufahrzeug Type A, a VK 16.02 Leopard, and a Durchbruchswagen 2. Four Japanese; a Chi-He, a Chi-Nu, a Chi-To, and a O-Ni. Two Chinese; Type 64 and 62. Five Russians; a BT-7 model 1935 (w/ horseshoe antenna), a KV-1 model 1940, an SU-76M, a T-46 and an A-20. Seven Americans; an M5A1 Stuart, a M3A1 Stuart, an M2A1 Medium, a T82 HMC, an M18 Hellcat, an M10 Wolverine, and an M36 Jackson. Two Czech; a Škoda T 25 and T 40. Lastly, two Polish; a 10TP and a 40TP. All of them are sentient.
“That’ll be it.” McDouglas said confidently, but as he was about to get the crews of the tanks he heard a tiny voice. “E-Excuse me!” squeaked the voice, he looked down at the direction of the voice and there standing right next to his feet was a 2-inch person named Angelica, “M-May I come too?” she then timidly asked.
Angelica is actually a borrower; in which she hides in the walls of a house and “borrow” things and never gets caught. She had been living here ever since she was found unconscious on the floor right next to the barrels of oil and diesel next to the restrooms a couple of years ago. No one knows how she got here but she’s been living here ever since. Angelica is about 19 years old, she has pretty brown hair that runs down to her shoulders, wears a red, yellow and black dress in a striped pattern and is considered by many here to be one of the bravest and most fearless borrowers by her community. However she does have a shy side when she meets people she hasn’t seen before but she is a very polite borrower.
The old man looked down at her with a small smile and said, “Oh Angelica, I understand you want to come but I’m afraid”—he bent down on one knee as his expression changed—“you can’t come with us.”
“Why not?”
He sadly but gently sighed. “Because there are gonna be people who don’t like borrowers like you. When one of these people sees you riding on let’s say Colonel William’s shoulder, they would knock you off his shoulder, yell him why, and”—he paused with a sad look in his eyes—“they’ll crush you.”
She just stared at him with a pain in her heart and said, “I…I see. But I can defend myself and I’ll be fine!” The old man smiled and replied, “Tell you what, why don’t you ride in my jacket pocket and I'm pretty sure you’ll be safe.” The young borrower had her heart lifted up and happily said “Thank you general!” and she hugged his right ankle. McDouglas smiled to see her happy like this, but was still worried about what might happen to her. So he gently picked her up, which surprised her a bit, and lifted her up to his face. Angelica then smiled as she saw his face and the old man smiled back. Then carefully as he could, he tilted his hand so that she would slide down in his left outer coat pocket. She slid down to his pocket and landed inside and then poked her little head out to get a bird’s eye view than her usual ant’s eye view. Then the general went to fetch the crews of the tanks.
After he got all of them, and after he put on his military uniform, he had the crews and tanks board a large cargo airship made of steel, titanium, and aluminum. The size of the airship left the tanks and crews awed and amazed, even the borrower was equally amazed by it.
“Come on ladies and gentlemen, let’s move em up!” McDouglas said and with that, everyone loaded up in the airship and off their journey began.
