Chapter 1: Someone, Somewhere, Something New

Chapter Text

[Episode 1] Someone, Somewhere, Something New

♫ Paradox (First Iteration) [Original]

“i can't take it anymore.”

Sans stands in the Last Corridor, in front of a giant floating clock, with many broken pieces.

“how long have i been in this… hell?”

He breathes.

“i don't know. i’ll never know. i’m just a puppet in the grand scheme of things.”

He places his hand on The Clock, and the part that he’s touching glows brighter.

“made to fit a role. to be toyed with by some… child.”

He lowers his arm down to his side.

“but i’m exhausted.”

He looks into the windows, seeing the many rooftops in New Home. He grabs his shirt in the chest area, tugging it tighter.

“i’m sick of having to stare at death…”

His head lowers and shoulders rise up as he repeats the same word.

“over, and over, and over, and over, and over again.”

He closes his eyes, rests his position, and breathes once more. He opens them halfway, and chuckles. He shrugs, and speaks to himself…

“heheheh. i shouldn't get carried away. even if i could find a better place, i would still be the same guy.”

He puts his hands in his pockets.

“just sans. sans… the… skeleton.”

He blankly stares at The Clock for a while, before kneeling down. He reaches into a bag he brought with him to the corridor. Once he finds the tools he needs, he stands back up, holding them up, and gets to work…

And after a lot of blood, sweat, and tears… he’s done. Sans has fully repaired The Clock, no more floating broken shards. He stares at the fruits of his labor for a moment, in awe... He wipes off the sweat on his forehead using the back of his arm.

“phew… well… looks like this bad boy is ready. what a relief.”

He closes his eyes once again, turning around and taking a few small steps.

“...i’m really gonna do this, aren't i..?”

He pauses.

“...”

“...no regrets.”

He spreads his arms out, opening his eyes and taking a look at the Last Corridor… for the very last time.

“papyrus…?”

He slowly closes his eyes.

“...take care of yourself. i’m sorry.”

And with that, Sans makes a trustfall into The Clock. As soon as he made contact, he felt his body being ascended beyond everything he could conceive. He feels indescribable feelings, like randomly changing temperature, randomly feeling touch, randomly hearing things…

♫ None (Hard Cut)

Until, in the blink of an eye, it all goes away. And now he’s in the void between dimensions.

He slowly opens his eyes, seeing the vast emptiness of this place. His vision consists of mostly black, except for a few small instances of an unknown purple fog… and small blobs of light, presumably harboring life. But he’s nowhere near any of those yet.

He closes his eyes as he accepts his decision.

“i just need to end up somewhere new… anywhere new…”

He lets his body drift in this void, moving wherever fate wants him to be.

“...beggars can't be choosers.”

———————————————————————————

???: Everyone…

A faint voice can be heard from the gate of Abydos High School. Closing in, the voice becomes much clearer…

???: Please…

In a storage room turned meeting room, a group of five young girls and one tall man are gathered around a table. This is Abydos High School’s Foreclosure Task Force, and their new teacher from Schale.

Ayane: STOP!!

Okusora Ayane, the girl with glasses and long pointy ears, shouted at everyone while slamming her fists into the table. Their bodies tense up slightly, except for Takanashi Hoshino, the sleepy upperclassman with pink hair, who’s mostly unfazed.

Everyone: Oh dear… Ayane is angry…

Silence fills the room as they awkwardly think of what to do. Before any concrete thought could be made, a stomach growl is heard. Everyone gets confused and looks around… Except Hoshino, who puts her hand on her stomach. Once they all notice her, it becomes obvious who was hungry.

Hoshino: Ah…

♫ Constant Moderato [Blue Archive the Animation]

Hoshino raises her hand, putting on her usual calm and happy expression.

Hoshino: Say, I think that's good for now~ We’ve done a lot of work today, so I’m sure everyone is starving.

She puts her hand down, closes her eyes, and just melts at the thought of food. She speaks in a dreamy tone.

Hoshino: Mmm~ Shiba Seki Ramen… I’d die to get a taste of another bowl~!

Serika: Oh?

Kuromi Serika, the girl with cat ears, looks excited about the statement. She stands up to speak.

Serika: For once, Hoshino is right! I think a bowl of ramen is exactly what Ayane needs to calm down. Plus, I need to get to my shift by now anyway…

Izayoi Nonomi, the girl with pale yellow hair, nods in agreement. She chimes in as well.

Nonomi: Mhm! We’re sorry, Ayane. Let's go get some ramen so you can forgive us!

Ayane looks like she’s still fuming, not saying a word. But she nods in agreement. Their teacher nods, looking at each and every one of them.

Sensei: Alright then. We’ll call this a day and get everyone a bowl of ramen. Sounds good, everyone?

Everyone nods. Hoshino’s eyes are still closed, dreaming about ramen.

Everyone: Mhm!

Hoshino: Okay... Meeting’s over! To Shiba Seki Ramen, we go!~

And so, everyone gets up from their chairs and leaves the meeting room. Sunaookami Shiroko, the girl with grey hair and fox ears, is the last one to leave. She first looks back at the meeting room, staring at it, before following the others. She speaks to herself in her usual reserved way…

Shiroko: …Yay. Ramen.

Once they're outside the gate of the school, the group walks side by side on the streets near Abydos High School, having a conversation.

Nonomi: Are you sure you don't want to eat too, Sensei?

Sensei: I’m good, Nonomi. I have some other business to attend to in the city. You girls can enjoy your ramen. I’ll stay with you until you get to the ramen shop, and then I’ll leave.

Serika crosses her arms. Despite what she says, she’s still smiling.

Serika: Aw, that’s a shame. Boss really liked you too…

The teacher laughs embarrassingly.

Sensei: I- Well, I think he’s an outstanding individual himself!! The fact he keeps going purely from seeing a customer satisfied… It's really admirable!

Everyone chuckles at Sensei’s speech, agreeing with him. Except for Shiroko, who stares intensely at something down the road. Hoshino notices.

♫ None (Fade Out)

Hoshino: Shiroko?

Hoshino looks in the same direction, still confused. However, Shiroko’s expression only gets more serious.

Shiroko: I think someone is up ahead.

♫ Tension [Original]

The rest of the group notice Shiroko as she says that, letting her walk in front of everyone else. All of them cautiously walk closer, pulling their weapons out in the process. As they do so, the figure’s appearance becomes much clearer.

A figure with a white, round head… a blue hoodie with a grey hood… black shorts with white stripes on the sides… a pair of white socks… and pink slippers. All heavily stained by Abydos sand. He’s lying face flat on the ground, his arms and legs in an X formation.

Sensei: What… Who could that be?

Serika: Doesn't seem like an Abydos resident, that's for sure.

Sensei: …Everyone, keep your guards up.

Everyone: Yes, sir!

They finally get physically close to the figure. Shiroko uses her rifle’s handle to tap on his head, then aims at the figure again. All of them, especially Shiroko, make sure to keep their fingers on the trigger in case the figure was hostile.

After a while…

Hoshino: …He’s still not moving.

Shiroko: Is he dead?

Hoshino’s eyes close slightly.

Hoshino: Looks like a skeleton, but that doesn't answer the question.

Shiroko: Hm.

Just as they were about to give up, he finally moved. They keep their weapons pointed at him.

???: …

He pushes himself up to a kneel, rubbing the top of his head. He grumbles, feeling the pain from sleeping on a sand-covered road. But just as he tries to stand up, Shiroko puts the barrel of her rifle closer to the figure’s face, startling him.

???: whoa, what the…

Shiroko: You.

The figure looks up at Shiroko, and she stares back at him. She has a serious expression, her intense stare piercing through his skull.

Shiroko: …What's your name? What district are you from?

He looks at everyone else who’s also pointing a gun at him, with such intensity in their expressions. He feels nervous.

???: i…

♫ None (Fade Out)

He awkwardly shrugs, not knowing what else to do.

???: i’m sans…? sans the skeleton…?

———————————————————————————

♫ MX Adventure [Remix]

A van drives through Abydos’ industrial area. Looking through the window is Nonomi, who has her closed hand touching her cheek, with an expression that combines introspection, curiosity, and worry.

Nonomi: You really don't know your school district? Like, at all?

Sans sits between her and Hoshino, just raising his shoulder, in a much calmer demeanor than how he did earlier.

Sans: i don't even know what a school district is. what is it, some weird alternate term for ‘area’?

Shiroko speaks from the seat in front of them, sitting next to Serika.

Shiroko: Yes, in a way. A normal student would know that a district’s high school is what governs its area. Since you don't… perhaps you aren't from a known district?

Sans: yeah, i mean… i’m too old to be going to school.

Serika pouts, complaining about that detail.

Serika: Oh, come on! Another adult? Can we not bring in more people for the group?

Hoshino gets her face closer to Serika’s seat, speaking to her in a teasing tone.

Hoshino: Acting like you don't trust the other new person, hm~? Didn't you say ‘Thank you, Sensei!’ yesterday?

Serika turns towards Hoshino, closing her hands, and stretching them outward as she speaks in an annoyed tone.

Serika: He’s an exception, not the rule!!

Hoshino chuckles, standing up slightly to get even closer.

Hoshino: Rules are meant to be broken though, aren't they? I’d want them to be since you seem to smile a lot around Sensei~ You’re cuter when you smile <3

Serika turns back, crossing her arms and closing her eyes.

Serika: I-I’m nothing like that! I’m not sentimental!

Sensei chuckles, as he’s driving in the front seats of the vehicle, with Ayane sitting beside him.

Sensei: Calm down, Serika. We’re just going to treat Sans to a bowl of ramen, and that’s it.

Ayane nods, putting a finger up.

Ayane: We don't have to get to know everyone we meet, everyone. Sans is free to do whatever he wants after he gets his meal.

Serika lowers down on her seat, sighing.

Serika: That's a relief, at least.

Nonomi sits properly, putting her hands on her lap, and looks at Sans directly. She stares for a while, using those few seconds of silence to think.

Nonomi: But… where will Mr. Skeleton live? It doesn't seem like he has a home…

Serika: There are a lot of abandoned houses in Abydos, I’m sure he can stay in one for now!

Sensei’s voice breaks a little.

Sensei: I- Even if they're abandoned, I don't think anyone should live there…

Nonomi’s expression falters more, feeling sad for Sans’ situation. She then looks over at Hoshino, wanting her approval.

Nonomi: Hoshino? What do you think of this?

Hoshino doesn't say anything for a good while. That would be broken up by a simple yawn.

Hoshino: …Are we there yet…?

Sensei chuckles a little once again.

Sensei: No, Hoshino. Will still take a while.

Hoshino: Mmm… I’m getting sleepy though~ I want to eat ramen…

Ayane: You’re always sleepy, Hoshino.

Hoshino: Haa~?

Everyone chuckles, except for Nonomi and Sans. And Shiroko, though she at least smiles. Nonomi looks at everyone ignoring Sans, and sighs, closing her eyes.

Sans: hey.

Nonomi opens her eyes, slightly startled. She looks over at Sans, who seems unbothered by the situation.

Sans: just relax. don't worry about it too much. i’ll figure things out. besides…

Sans snaps his finger in Nonomi’s direction.

Sans: i’m just a stranger to you, right? don't get too excited about me, will ya’?

Nonomi stares at Sans as he says that. She feels reassured, simply nodding her head.

Nonomi: Okay, Mr. Skeleton. ☆

Sans then stretches his hands behind his head.

Sans: there we go.

Everyone simply then chills, waiting until they arrive at Shiba Seki Ramen. Shiroko looks at her hand, and then out the window. She places her hand on it. She whispers to herself…

♫ None (Fade Out)

Shiroko: But… where is he from…?

♫ Unwelcome School (Piano Jazz Ver.) [Blue Archive YouTube]

A group of outlaws walk through obscure streets of Abydos. They try their best to do so in a professional manner, but their hunger makes it hard for their legs to work at full capacity. Onikata Kayoko, the Chief of this group, asks the President Rikuhachima Aru.

Kayoko: We’ve already checked a dozen places, and all of them sell for more than 600 yen. Are we sure we should keep going? We can just buy a loaf of bread, y’know…

Another member of the group, Igusa Haruka, chimes in. She already looks defeated, her hands held together by her waist…

Haruka: Eating bread on the ground does fit us more than a real meal… I don't think that sounds bad… We deserve it, anyway…

Aru sways away their concerns, her chin still held up and her voice still confident.

Aru: Nonsense! A real crime group wouldn't just give up on something that easily. We’re Problem Solver 68! Even if it's just getting lunch, we give it our all!

Asagi Mutsuki, the Head of the group, has a smug face after the last sentence. She closes her eyes and teases Aru.

Mutsuki: Oh, sure! It's not like last time we ‘gave it our all’, we accidentally killed our target and didn't get a penny from it. Remember?

Aru feels offended, looking at Mutsuki with shock.

Aru: Of course, I do! But that was a fluke!! Doesn't mean we should give up now!

She goes back to having a confident expression, facing forward and raising her head.

Aru: Besides, I made sure our next job will be a success! I just know it in my heart!

Mutsuki rolls her eyes a little, speaking in a sarcastic tone, which Aru doesn't catch.

Mutsuki: If your heart is the reason we’re scouring Abydos for a cheap food to eat, I think listening to your heart is a great decision!

Aru: Of course it is! I always know what I’m doing.

As they speak, Kayoko spots a ramen shop up ahead. She points at it.

Kayoko: There. Another one. The sign says ‘Shiba Seki Ramen.’

Aru looks in the same direction, seeing what Kayoko saw.

Aru: Fantastic! See? We just needed to walk a little more.

Aru makes an open-handed gesture towards Haruka.

Aru: Haruka. Go ahead and ask them what's their cheapest dish.

Haruka looks at Aru, surprised and confused.

Haruka: M-me?

Aru simply nods. Haruka’s mouth stays open for a second, before closing and looking at the door. She simply follows instructions so as to not disappoint the President. She opens the door halfway, which signals Serika, a waitress of Shiba Seki Ramen, to greet her.

Serika: Welcome!! How many people, please?

Serika walks up to the door as she speaks to Haruka and the rest of Problem Solver 68 as they get settled in the ramen shop.

♫ None (Fade Out)

Meanwhile, Master Shiba, the owner of the shop and an anthropomorphic dog, keeps washing the dishes. He uses a small moment to take a glance at Sans, sitting alone by a table near where the Foreclosure Task Force are sitting, all of whom are eating ramen. He speaks to Sans.

Master Shiba: Eating well?

Sans looks over at Master Shiba, still slurping up some tonkotsu ramen with his back hunched.

♫ sans. [UNDERTALE]

He finishes that before leaning against the back of the chair, and responds to Master Shiba in a casual tone.

Sans: yep. the ramen’s good, sir. thanks a bunch.

Master Shiba smiles with his eyes closed, happy to hear that Sans is satisfied.

Master Shiba: Haha, no need to thank me! Just hope it eases your appetite.

Sans puts his chopsticks down and rests his hands on the table, properly looking at Master Shiba before he continues. Master Shiba opens his eyes.

Master Shiba: You’re lucky that Nonomi here was able to buy a bowl of ramen for you. Heck, you’re lucky these girls found you at all! A lost one like you would’ve been knocked out by anyone on the streets!

He puts his paw on his chin.

Master Shiba: Why are you here, and where did you come from? I don't know where a skeleton lives in Kivotos…

Sans: eh…

Sans shrugs, closing his eyes and shaking it off.

Sans: long story. can’t be bothered to tell it. would get boring quite fast.

He opens his eyes again, with an expression of curiosity.

Sans: but really? you’re saying anyone can just knock me out?

Master Shiba nods.

Master Shiba: Yeah, absolutely. Every student you’ll come across carries a gun around them. Walking in public without any protection… dangerous, I tell you!

Sans raises an eyebrow, taken aback by what he just said.

Sans: wait, what the- a gun!? every student? and you're saying i will end up… knocked out? hell, i should be DEAD.

Master Shiba puts a finger up to his chin, looking at the ceiling in wonder.

Master Shiba: Well, a lot of them only have peashooters, but actual bullets are also common, especially with the stronger groups! Either way, it usually can be treated by a doctor in a day or two.

Sans puts an elbow on his table, holding his head up with a hand, as he tries to get a grasp on what he just heard. He ultimately cannot. He whispers to himself…

Sans: (…geez, what kind of sick world did i end up in…?)

As Sans questions himself, Master Shiba switches his focus to the new customers in the room. Serika is currently encouraging Haruka, holding her hands between hers. This slightly surprises Haruka.

Serika: Not at all! Not having money is not something to be ashamed of!

Haruka: What…?

Serika looks over at Master Shiba, asking for his approval. All the while, both the Foreclosure Task Force and Sans are overhearing this conversation.

Serika: Right, boss?

Master Shiba lifts a hand up and puts the other over his bicep, letting out another smile at Problem Solver 68, especially Haruka.

Master Shiba: Of course! Money can just come and go. You girls are students, aren't you?

Aru raises her shoulders extremely slightly, as to not make an obvious change in posture to Master Shiba.

Aru: Y-yes…?

Master Shiba: Even though you have a lot to do, you were still able to scrape by and get a meal here. I’d be more than glad to help!

Master Shiba looks over at Serika, putting his arms down.

Master Shiba: Serika, what did they order?

Serika looks back at Master Shiba.

Serika: One serving of Shiba Seki Ramen for 580 yen.

Master Shiba: Makes sense! Give me a moment then.

Master Shiba walks into the kitchen. Serika looks over at Haruka once again, with a palm up raised in her direction.

Serika: Please sit down and wait patiently. I will be back with your order, I promise!

Haruka: O-Okay…

Serika follows Master Shiba into the kitchen. Haruka sits down as Problem Solver 68 discusses more. Sans hears all this, and after everything, he can't help but let out a quiet chuckle.

Sans: heh. these kids are quite a handful, aren't they?

He puts his hands inside his pockets, closing his eyes and leaning against the chair more, his head tilted upwards in a comfortable position.

Sans: probly spent it on something frivolous. like some figurines.

He opens his eyes, looking downwards instead as he reflects on something.

Sans: though, alphs used to buy a lot of those back home, too. y’know what they say, adults are just big children.

He shrugs, winking at himself.

Sans: so, hey? who am i to judge..?

♫ None (Fade Out)

He closes his eyes again, putting his hands on the table once more. In the span of a few seconds, his expression changes to a more disturbed one.

Sans: home..? nah, more like… it used to be.

He breathes for a second before continuing.

Sans: …i’m never going back. right…? i don't see any point.

He opens his eyes halfway.

Sans: i knew there were some risks… i knew i would leave behind a lot of people. but…

He looks at the ceiling, his eyes still half-open.

Sans: i’m not much of use there, anyway. not like i wanted to be… much easier to just be called a ‘lazybones' and move on.

He chuckles at himself, in a much slower and less enthusiastic way than before.

Sans: …wonder how i kept that jig up? it's like… everyone believed it. of course, that's what i intended, but…

He stays silent for a while, trailing off… He suddenly feels deep in thought… but this would be cut short by Hoshino tapping his shoulder. This shocks him just a little, opening his eyes fully as he turns to her direction.

Hoshino: Hey.

♫ Hoshino [Original]

Sans raises an eyebrow for a second, before simply just winking and pointing at her with an index hook.

Sans: heya'. you're takanashi hoshino, right?

Hoshino nods, then looks at him with slight concern.

Hoshino: You look like you're bothered by something.

Sans stares at her, not knowing what to say for a brief moment. But in typical fashion, he just raises his shoulders, closes his eyes, and brushes it off.

Sans: naahhh. i’m good. just remembered somethin’ weird.

He puts his hands in his pockets again.

Sans: you lass should really be focusing on yourself. you’re caring too much about some nobodies.

Hoshino stares at him for a while, not convinced by his statement. But then she just giggles at it, eyes closed, and seemingly amused.

Hoshino: That's what I would do, too.

Sans looks at her with confusion, with one eye half-open and one eye still closed.

Sans: hm?

Hoshino passes by that, both her eyes also half-open and looking at the ground.

Hoshino: Not pushing your beliefs or anything, but…

Hoshino looks at Sans directly, with him now opening both his eyes halfway.

Hoshino: You’d get pretty lonely if you push everyone away. Most times, the best experience you’ll have is when you're with others. Life’s about connections, y’know?

She keeps looking at him with an expression Sans can't discern, even for a guy like him that knows a lot about expressions. She has a smile on her face, but… not in the right way.. As soon as Sans fully notices, her expression changes to a more recognizable gentle smile.

Hoshino: Oops, I’m assuming something, aren't I? Sorry. Should just take your word. You’re just a nobody to us, right?

Sans doesn't know how to respond for a while. He keeps looking at Hoshino, then at the ground beneath her, then at his table, then at the ceiling… and finally, back at Hoshino.

Sans: y-yeah, exactly.

Hoshino: Mhm.

Hoshino, after saying that, sees her friends standing next to Problem Solver 68. She walks up to her friends, joining in on the conversation.

♫ None (Fade Out)

Sans looks at her for a second, before minding his own business and looking at his bowl. He takes a few moments before picking his chopsticks back up and eating more ramen… Then he puts it down again.

Sans: …dang. it got cold.

———————————————————————————

Sensei looks at the evening sky through his temporary office’s window, admiring the beauty of the stars scattered all over, seemingly few and far between. He stands there for a while, hands together behind his back, just staring at them. This would be interrupted by a knock on the door, which he turns around for.

Sensei: Come in.

Ayane opens the door and enters the teacher’s office, closing it behind her before putting her hands together and bowing. Sensei smiles.

♫ Step by Step [Remix]

Sensei: Ayane, good evening.

Ayane walks closer as she speaks, putting her hands down.

Ayane: Good evening, Sensei.

Sensei: Did you get any information about Sans the Skeleton?

Ayane puts one hand up to her chest and tugs on her shirt.

Ayane: Unfortunately, no… The first trace of him in Abydos was where we first saw him.

Sensei lifts his hand, facing his palm up to her.

Sensei: That's okay, Ayane. Thank you for cooperating.

Ayane nods.

Ayane: Of course, Sensei! But…

She looks directly into Sensei's eyes.

Ayane: If you don't mind me asking, why do you want to know about Sans?

Sensei closes his eyes, smiling.

Sensei: I don't mind at all.

He then opens his eyes and returns the same glance Ayane is giving him.

Sensei: I just want to know if he’s a threat or not, that's all. Kata-Kata Helmet Gang has already been giving you girls trouble, so I want to save potential sweat.

Ayane’s eyebrows rise up slightly, intrigued.

Ayane: Oh, really?

Sensei nods.

Sensei: Mhm. You four are good students, and in a way, I really admire your persistence. If I’m staying here in Abydos for a while, I might as well be useful.

Ayane: But… you’re already incredibly useful, Sensei! We’re grateful for your help!

He chuckles.

Sensei: Nothing worth buttering me up for. Just doing my job.

Both of them chuckle for a good bit. After a small pause between both of them, Sensei speaks again.

Sensei: Well, it's getting late. You should go home now. Sorry for keeping you busy, Ayane.

Ayane nods, putting her hand on the strap of her purse.

Ayane: Alright. Good night, Sensei.

Sensei: Good night.

As Ayane leaves and closes the door, Sensei turns towards the window again. He stares at it for a few seconds, before looking at his table and picking the Shittim Chest up with both his hands. He turns it on…

Sensei: …

He finds himself in a classroom with a broken wall and roof, many piles of broken chairs and tables just outside the window, and a vast ocean beyond that. The floor is slightly flooded, high enough that the soles of his feet are wet, same goes for the bottoms of the chairs and tables that are intact and organized into rows and columns.

One girl sits on one of the disks, her feet waving back and forth, with her eyes closed and seeming very calm. The system manager and main OS of the Shittim Chest… Arona. She’s simply humming to herself, which Sensei stares at, amused at such a delicate assistant.

Arona: Mm-hmm…!

After looking at her for a little while, Sensei walks up to her and snaps his finger, immediately springing Arona up to life.

Arona: Huh!?

Arona gets herself off the desk and walks in front of Sensei.

Sensei: Good evening, Arona.

Arona: Good evening, Sensei! Are there any tasks you need me for?

Sensei chuckles.

Sensei: Reliable as ever, aren't you?

Arona nods excitedly.

Arona: Mhm, mhm!!

Sensei: Alright. I gave you permission to access to my MomoTalk, yes?

Arona closes her fists and moves them near her chest.

Arona: Yes! I can read your latest messages, but only if you need me to!

Sensei sighs in relief.

Sensei: Well, can you access my messages with Nonomi please? She has a photo I asked her to send, and I want you to find info about the person in the image.

Arona has a more serious expression.

Arona: Will do!

Sensei, in his actual office again, sees the Shittim Chest work its magic and collect data from all over the General Student Council's control, showing everything to him as it does so… But after nearly a minute of combing through lots and lots of data…

He is back in the flooded classroom, seeing Arona have a disappointed expression, looking downwards.

Arona: Sorry, Sensei. I can't find anything about this person. I looked through all the data I can find through the General Student Council's network, but everything I could find, you already know from Ayane’s search.

Sensei simply has an understanding look. Arona then looks at Sensei directly.

Arona: If needed, I do have his current whereabouts though.

Sensei lifts his hand and faces his palm towards Arona, signaling her to stop.

Sensei: No need. I don't wanna look into what he’s doing, he can live his life. I just hoped you could find more about where he came from.

Arona: Okay… If you need anything more, you can ask me! I’m always here.

Sensei nods.

Sensei: Thank you, Arona.

Arona: Goodbye!

♫ None (Fade Out)

Sensei turns off the Shittim Chest as Arona says that final word. He then simply thinks to himself…

Sensei: Hm… Dead end then…

Sensei keeps thinking eventually facing the window and looking at the stars, admiring their beauty from afar, still with a lot uncertainty. He then sees... a small meteor, falling through the sky, with a bright orange light. Somehow, he feels better.

Sensei: ...I'm done for today.

And so, he puts the Shittim Chest in his suit and decides to go home.

———————————————————————————

The desert of Abydos at night. Only grains of sand for miles and miles. Above is the stars, completely visible over unlit skies. An orange streak falls, getting closer… with the closing distance showing more features… and finally, it crashlands into the sand.

It kneels. An anthropomorphic jackal with a mask over his face, covering one of his eyes. A fractured ruby fixed to his chest, right hand on it, the left holding a different gem. The light shines behind him, showing him mostly as a silhouetted figure.

♫ Resurgence of Infinite [Original]

???: Finally…

He struggles, but manages to fully stand up. He moves his right hand to his mask, laughing slowly. He has a deep, gruff, menacing voice as he does so…

???: I found somewhere to recover.

He starts walking, his legs trying their best to keep him up. His eyes show persistence despite the pain.

???: And mark my words… When I come back…

He holds a fist up into the sky.

???: I’ll wipe that smirk off of that rat’s face.

He laughs, even more maniacal than earlier, but still reserved. After that, he stops walking, and sighs…

???: After all…

♫ None (Hard Cut)

The light finally shows his figure fully, the details of his mask and ruby becoming even clearer.

???: You cannot end infinity.
